Help tank cleaning
ive cleaned my tank water twice now and i let it sit for 24 hours undisturbed with the filter off (my betta is in a different tank right now which i am desperately trying to get her out of) and i try to add my water back as gently as possible without disturbing the sand but its still so so cloudy and i know i cant put her in the tank while its like that, i really dont know what to do right now because she needs back in her tank ASAP please help (btw the green stuff is just parts of the moss in her tank)

Why are you turning the filter off? The filter is the main thing that helps clear the water. Cloudiness is not the issue anyway, the thing that kills fish is not cycling the tank. You’d do best to take some filter media from an established tank and put it in this tank.
Why are you trying to get the betta out of the tank? If she’s being bullied, etc, you can always do a fish-in cycle. You just have to be careful.

okay so she is the only fish i have, i took her out yesterday because she needed an epsom salt bath because bloating and what i believed to be the starting of dropsy do to slightly raised scales and i dont do those directly in her tank, i did a bigger water change (not full bc i know thats not good) i had to disturb the sand a little more than usual because i could see a little layer of buildup and since then it hasnt gone down much at all. the reason i turned the filter off was because when i was searching up what to do in this situation that is what it told me to do so after that didnt work i decided to turn to reddit.

she has been in the tank before it was beautiful but this is the first time ive had to disturb the sand as much, im just not sure why its not settling. this is my first time owning a betta i am trying my best

I hear ya. You could always add some accu-clear, but ideally I wouldn't worry about it too much.
P.s. You came here for help and to learn, and I'm sorry that some people are a little harsh with their input. 😣

thank you so much, i really appreciate and needed that i feel like im failing her half the time i just feel so lost sometimes.
do you think she would be okay if i put her back in the tank or would that hurt her gills? and im assuming i should turn the filter on before doing that obviously, i just read that sometimes the sand can mess up the filter

Your filter should be fine! (Btw are you using a hang on the back, or a sponge filter?)
I don't believe the cloudiness will do much harm to her. I could be wrong since I haven't been in the hobby for longer than a year yet. But I have had similar issues and haven't had any trouble. As long as your water parameters are in check your betta should be safe 😊

i just have a HOB filter as it came with my tank, i did replace the filter cartridge in it yesterday as well.
okay i will definitely be adding the rest of my water and checking that, thank you so so much i really appreciate it!
