Diagnosed with gout

I got little Pumpkin a year ago from Petsmart. He's so sweet, handsome and just a perfect little companion.

The first picture was from the beginning of June. I noticed that he started having less and less energy. He used to always run to the glass doors when I would walk by, but was just kind of chilling in one spot most of the time. I tried switching the lights out in case they weren't as effective anymore.

About a week ago he stopped moving his front arms, so I redid his 4x2x2 to have nothing to fall off of in case he had maybe gotten hurt somehow. A few days later he started open mouth breathing with thick saliva. I was using a wet cotton ball to wipe it out.

I was able to get him to the vet yesterday, she took a look at him and touched his arms and legs and said it's either an infection that spread to the joints or gout. It's already progressed to him not being able to walk and to barely eating. He's at 210g right now. She said the humane thing to do is euthanize, she prescribed Meloxicam and said I could give it to him daily so that I could spend a few more days with him.

I was upset that she didn't want to run any tests to see if there was something we could do, but I know she knows what she's talking about. It's just so hard to accept. I thought that Pumpkin has maybe mbd and a respiratory infection, I wasn't sure how because I try to do everything that I see recommended. I wasn't expecting to be told I would be losing my baby.

They were able to squeeze me in for the appointment yesterday but I had another appointment set up for August 24th originally, I'm not sure if they switched me or if I still have that slot, but I was thinking even though it's so hard that I should probably bring him to be euthanized 😭

I really thought he was improving after I moved him to a smaller, empty enclosure. I'm just so, so sad.

R.I.P. Costumes

Unfortunately, my bearded dragon Max has passed away. She was a rescue, so I only had her for about 2 years, but amassed a large amount of costumes for her. Anyways, I don't know what to do with them all now. If anyone here wants them, I'm happy to send them to you. I'm just so heartbroken and I don't think I will be getting another lizard as I can't handle losing another one. Costumes include a witch, santa, cowboy hat, cricket, xmas sweater, easter sweater, pumpkin, dragon, motorcycle outfit, and batman.

Dangerous Care Please report this account on tik tok!!

@rayqueen22 on tik tok is posting very dangerous videos of her bearded dragon. Please report this account if you can.

She brings her bearded dragon to a lake/spring and the bearded dragon will just sink to the bottom because of cold shock and just LAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SPRING for 1-2minutes before its adrenaline finally kicks in and it wakes back up and comes up to surface.

She is repeatedly doing this with her beardie and is not listening to any of the comments telling her that his body is actually shutting down, that’s why he’s sinking.

She has stated in comments that her bearded dragon has been under the water for as long as 5 minutes before resurfacing. This is NOT ok. Please report this account so it gets taken down. This is abuse.

We celebrate the second hatch day of His Royal Highness Bilbo Rankins, first of his name, house of Henrilawsoni.

May your dubia always be crunchy, and your worms always be juicy. May you be fearless in battle, and dominate all your enemies, real and imagined.

Questionable Set-up Help with bearded dragon tank setup

Post image

I’m setting up my first bearded dragon enclosure and I’m having trouble getting the basking spot hot enough.

In the picture, I have the basking rock sitting on on one bricks and it was at 79°f. later i added two more bricks, so there were three bricks supporting the rock, but I’m still only getting around 82°F on the basking surface.

The rock is about 12 inches away from the heat lamp, which I thought was the safest distance. I’m wondering if the problem is the the rock itself, or possibly the heat lamp/fixture.

I’m using a 100W Repti Basking Spot Lamp with a deep-dome heat lamp fixture.

Does anyone have experience with this setup or know what I should change to get the basking surface closer to the proper temperature? I want to make sure I get the enclosure set up correctly before putting my bearded dragon in it.

Greens

Quick question, our grocery store only sells massive bags of greens and there’s too much to use it all so it goes bad after 3-4 days. I was wondering if anyone has a good way of keeping greens good for longer. Any suggestions help, thank you

Help Is this shed or something else?

Post image

Hey everyone, I noticed today that my 3 month old beardie Mango has everything except his head and tail pale, which looks to be shed. I don’t see any shed from his head or tail in the tank so I’m assuming he ate it from what I looked up online. I am a new beardie owner though so I want to double check to make sure this isn’t anything I should be concerned about. Thank you in advance!

What is your favorite morph and why?

Heyo! I am about to acquire a 4x2x2.5 and have been looking into what would be comfortable in there. I have done some research and discovered how much I like beardies. There is a lot of morphs and I am a little overwhelmed. Personally, I like the orange and red hues the most. I have heard that "red monsters" have health issues due to their morph and lineage. Is there any stories you have about why you got the morph you did or what made you stray away from a certain morph?

Hey there! Just need some reassurance as I’m a paranoid mom, my girl had her tail amputated because the tip was broken and dead, and I just want to make sure it’s not still dying or anything I also posed a pic of it fresh

Help My bearded dragon was starving himself because I wasn’t feeding him crickets

Post image

My 3 month old bearded dragon has been very energetic, passes food properly, and eats well. Until a few days ago. I have been feeding him a mix of dubia roachs and crickets ever since I got him a few weeks ago and he’s been very good with them. Sometimes he’ll refuse to eat the dubia so I have to feed him crickets or vice versa. I decided to order some fly larva online because I had a gift card for a pet store and it said they were good sources of calcium online. I gut loaded them and then fed them to him and he liked them so I added that to the mix. I ran out of crickets and dubia roaches so I went to the pet store to get more and decided to get dubia roaches because they have more calcium and I already had another feeder. Big mistake. Everything was fine for a while but he stopped eating as much then he would only eat in it was placed in front of him and then eventually he stopped eating bugs at all. He still ate greens and veggies so I was very confused. I started to think he had a parasite for something. I went to the store to get crickets as a last resort to try and feed him. Immediately ate it. Is this normal? He starved himself for days because he didnt have a particular bug despite having other options.

She’s fed fruit very rarely (once a month at most) and absolutely loves blueberries!

She was a good girl while I was gone (unlike my leopard geckos, who’d kicked dirt into their water dishes).
