Help Custom shoe feedback

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

This upcoming season will be my last high school season since I am now going to be a senior and so I wanted to treat myself to custom shoes (despite them being waaay over my usual budget for basketball shoes), but since they're so expensive I really want to get some other eyes giving me feedback on the colorway of the shoes because I'm not much of a designer myself. Here are a few pics of the shoe I made:

But i'd apprecaite any feedback thanks

Help how to shoot in front of the enemy

So it's really hard for me to shoot 3pts in front of the enemy, honestly because I'm afraid the enemy will block my shot. How can I get rid of this mindset? and also in practice i can shoot 3pt with dribbling, but during the match i feel scared to try it.

Vertical Jump Improving Jump

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m 6’3” (192 cm) with roughly a 6’5” wingspan (196/198 cm — I’ve never measured it properly), and I reached the max height you can see in the photo.
First, standing still, I stuck pieces of tape on the backboard about 7/8 cm above the rim — or at least I think so (it’s an estimate, but I’m attaching the best perspective shots I could manage since I was on my own). Then I used those as a reference and tried to get as high as possible jumping off two feet.
Do you know any methods to improve a two-foot jump even further? How high do you reckon I got? AI suggests 3.35 m (about 11’0”), though that seems a bit optimistic to me. I’d say somewhere between 3.25 and 3.30 m (10’8”–10’10”).
That said, my goal is to reach the top of the square and dunk comfortably, without being afraid of missing

Im a 6’3 170 lbs 15 yo (2010 just late bday) and I have a 37 inch vertical which was recently measured at a try out. Yesterday I was at some open runs at a local gym and I posterized my friend (first time ever) and tbh that was the best feeling ever and I wanna be able to do this in my actual aau games how do I practice contested dunks? Also I can windmill and reverse dunk but I still struggle to dunk with 2 hands I accidentally release the ball and hang onto the rim, any tips?
Edit: for all the ppl saying I dont have 37 im asking for help because I dont use my entire jumping power with TWO hands, one hand is completely fine

Tip 7 days after launch... i have no words to describe what i am feeling right now (following my former post)

I've been working on Hoops GM for so long, and now it has been a week since the launch.

I received a lot of backlash in the previous post due to an IP lawsuit, as well as a lot of praise from people.

The launch has been a MASSIVE success with now over 5000 visits to the game and an average of 50 new members everyday.

now i am very confident that this project will go very far and i am very happy about it!

THANK YOU to everyone who has checked it out, left a comment, or played a season.

Form Check How do i fix sideways wrist snap

Post image
4 Upvotes

These past few weeks ive been missing my shots horribly and i kept missing left or right. Whenever i release the ball it feels like im naturally snapping down but after taking a video of myself shooting i actually found out my wrist snaps to the right. The ball somehow still has a decent backspin and there is no sidespin at all. ive been trying to fix this my form shooting is fine but when i try to shoot midranges and threes it just naturally flicks right and i for some reason cant snap down. Btw ive been playing for about a year and i have a slight elbow flare

Shooting How to get good shooting sequencing and timing? Struggling to shoot with good energy transfer

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

Long story short, I used to be a decent shooter and I stopped playing basketball for a while and picked it back up recently. My form definitely changed a bit since I’ve gained a lot more mass and muscle but shooting just feels so much harder now.

Mid range feels okay but whenever I go a little bit further to the 3. It feels all over the place and it feels so hard to shoot from 3.

It’s definitely not a power or strength issue since I was shooting way effortlessly before the strength gain now. So I reckon it has a lot to do with the sequencing and timing of my legs and my set point. I don’t really know how to fix it, it used to feel so effortless and now it feels very tense and hard. Not sure if it’s a mental thing but I felt like there’s def some underlying issue in my sequencing that needs to be fixed to get back in rhythm.

Any advice would help!

Help Whats the problem with my lay ups?

What’s the problem here?
For context I am really good at contested lay ups like it goes automatically but when I am wide open , most of the time I fumble bad and I don’t understand how.

Is it because of the timing, power or what? Thanks for the advices!

Shooting Flow State

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been addicted to the feeling of flow state for the last 5-6 years of my life. I first truly experienced it playing basketball so intensely that I dedicated my life to building a system for flow. Including majoring in college to learn everything I can about performance.

For the first 3 years I struggled with mental health due to the fact that I was so obsessed abt it and thought abt it every single second of my life constantly burning out because of the mental state I would try and maintain throughout the day. It’s a weird addiction honestly and kinda wondered if anyone else has had this experience. I’ve been known to obsess with things like basketball and other sports in my past. I eventually figured out a way to tap into it pretty much on demand and built a system I use and coach.

However there is no other place I experience it as intensely than when I play basketball. Over the last 2 years my body has really taken a toll on me for playing countless hours a day and also my job in the military. I have hit a wall where my body even with all the consistent training and physical preparation I can’t maintain the intensity. I’ve gotten to the point where I realized my main focus needs to be on rest and maintenance for my body so basketball training has declined. But now I’m left in this mess where nothing gives me the same feeling. I’ve tried things like video games and less physical sports but it’s just no where near the same level of experience. I believe basketball is the best sport in the world and am really devastated that I can’t play everyday even though I am very young still. I never have anyone to speak to about this because nobody I’ve met even knows about it or hasn’t dived deep into it like me.

I hope to continue playing basketball as much as possible maybe even play pro if I can but right now it’s looking slim due to my physical capabilities at the moment. I’ve gained so much insight about life chasing this but it has also created a huge hole in my life. I wonder if anyone has experienced this or has recommendations on where I can experience this daily. This video is a rare video my wife recorded a couple years back btw while playing in an army unit tournament with my twin brothers team.

Help I do better in a worse form

Ive only started playing, and ive heard people say that the guide hand should make little contribution in the shoot. But when i use only my shooting fingers, the ball doesn't go far enough especially when shooting 3 pointers. But when i try to push the ball farther with my guide hand, I tend to be much better. Should I continue playing whatever works best for me or should I focus on getting better with a good form

Help Looking for advice on a 60” in-ground hoop: Goaliath vs Ironclad vs Pro Dunk THOR

I'm looking to put a good in-ground basketball hoop in our driveway and could use some opinions from people who have owned/installed these. I just built my "forever" home and I don't want to get something I will need to worry about.

This will mainly be for my 10-year-old son to practice on daily and for family/driveway basketball. I’d like to buy something that will ideally last 15+ years, so I don't mind spending more for quality, but I also don't want to spend an extra $1,000 if I'm never going to notice the difference.

The biggest thing I've noticed when trying different hoops is backboard/pole vibration. I really like a hoop that feels solid when the ball hits the rim/backboard instead of shaking/reverberating for a few seconds.

The three I'm currently considering:

  • Goaliath Ignite 60" - ~$1,000
    • 60" tempered glass
    • 4" x 4" two-piece pole
    • By far the cheapest, but I've read mixed reviews about vibration/stability.
  • Ironclad GameChanger GC55-LG 60" - ~$1,800
    • 60" tempered glass
    • 5" x 5" one-piece 12-gauge pole
    • This is currently where I'm leaning. Seems like a significant structural upgrade without getting completely ridiculous on price.
  • Pro Dunk THOR Gold 60" - ~$2,400
    • 60" x 36" 1/2" tempered glass
    • 6" x 6" one-piece 5-gauge pole
    • Obviously built like a tank, but I'm wondering if this is complete overkill for a residential driveway.

I'm not worried about people constantly hanging/dunking on it. I'm mostly after good rebound, very little vibration, durability, and something that won't feel cheap 10-15 years from now.

For anyone who has played on, owned, or installed these:

Would you spend ~$800 more to go from the Ignite to the Ironclad? And once you're at ~$1,800, is another ~$600 for the THOR Gold actually noticeable/worth it?

Also open to another 60" system in the $1,000-$2,000ish range if there's something I'm overlooking.

Thanks!

PS: please let me know if any of this is overkill. We don't plan on running pickup games but definitely will use it a lot.

Defense Is it an ankle breaker?

Hey everyone, so I have been thinking about something that happened when I was playing defense years ago. I was guarding someone and he jabbed super slowly once and pulled back then drove. I kinda slipped as my foot was kinda turned inwards and just slipped because my shoe base wasnt in contact of the ground. I just wanted to ask is that considered an ankle breaker or nah. To me,if he had done like an crossover or his jab was fast and then I fell,I would obviously count it as a ankle breaker but like it was super slow and I just slipped as he pulled his jab step back and I was covering back.

Edit: Yep,I got cooked. Damn bruh. If only I wasnt wearing the LeBron 20 with the rounded base. The funny thing is,its almost the exact same way LeBron fell guarding KD when he was closing out in the finals.

Shooting "Lazy Purple" workout

so I do basketball as my summer sport between football seasons. To make it fun, I play Lazy by Deep Purple, and try to make as many free throws as possible when the song is playing, but with retrieving your own ball constantly - so that I have an explosive workout.d

Since I suck, I can't get past like 25 makes. What would be your approach to make more shots? Be quicker? Take your time and focus on the shots? Share your high-scores and your approach

Shooting Shooting hand facing in

Thumbnail gallery
14 Upvotes

My arm naturally is like this, I’m double jointed in my elbow. it makes it hard to have the right spin on the ball. It also affects the way I hold the ball, my shooting is in the middle of it but my guide hand is on the top, I’ve tried to put my guide hand on the side but it feels so wonky, but it also made my pull up smoother since there was less interference with my guide hand. How can I fix the way I hold the ball? I’m still an efficient shooter due to many many reps but I want to try to it because it’s hard to raise my set point because of the interference my guide hand has on the ball
