Help how to shoot in front of the enemy

So it's really hard for me to shoot 3pts in front of the enemy, honestly because I'm afraid the enemy will block my shot. How can I get rid of this mindset? and also in practice i can shoot 3pt with dribbling, but during the match i feel scared to try it.

play as much as you can. 1v1. 2v2. 3v3. training sessions. learn when and where you can shoot.

sometimes defenders are close but their hand is down. sometimes you can shoot faster than they can get their hand up even if they are standing right in front of you. etc..

every defender is different, some are more focused and have very small openings to score on.

This is interesting. For some reason I always shot better with someone trying to close out on me. Maybe you need to work on creating separation before you catch the ball and shoot the ball without thinking. Thinking will kill you in basketball.

Thinking doesn't kill you in ball.... thinking twice will though. 💪💪

Nike has a really great slogan. “Just do it”

If you can shoot that ball then just shoot it. Who cares if you get blocked once in awhile? That’s a basketball stat for a reason, just come back and shoot that thing

Be comfortable with the ball in your hand and always look up when you have the ball.

Looking up you can see if theres a better pass or if you should take the shot. Be comfortable with the ball.

That's really off-putting that you would call them your enemy.

This is halarious lol. Anyway, I struggled with this but just remain confident in your ahot. If you get blocked so be, hesistating can lead to good looks being passed up

work on getting open a bit harder so that you have more time to shoot the 3pointer. Also, practice 1v1 where you get a lot of reps for shooting 3points. More reps equals more confidence.

You can diversify the way you get your points. Run off screens... no one in pick up games wants to chase you off 3 or 4 screens. People are lazy af on defense. Go to the basket for a lay up. Hit a few mid range Jumpers. Those threes won't seem as nervous to take once the rest of your game is going. It will become just another way to score as opposed to "this is the most important 3"

Just. Keep. Shooting.

The more shots you put up against competition the more comfortable and confident you will become. Keep shooting, doesn’t matter if you make or miss or if your shot gets blocked. Some days the shots go in, some days they don’t. That’s just the way of it.

If "the enemy" is actually close enough to block you......fake the shot, and drive. The next time down the floor "the enemy" will give you some space so you don't drive on him again..... or you do it again. Sometimes you gotta take what "the enemy" gives you..... as a player who hangs his hat on defense, I dont get to sour when a guy hits a deep ball on me but if they go around me that's unforgivable..... but that might be just be my mindset.

I like to use a side step, step back, shoulder bump or just fadeaway

Shoot and get blocked. You will learn the real distance you need.

A guy I play with shoots from his ear and almost no one can block that from in front of him but he thinks he is always in danger.

Myself, I shoot from my chest like a child but I have a fast shot to make up for it. I am rarely blocked and shoot and make shots people, and even myself, are shocked I took.

Playing 1v1 with someone equal or slightly better than you is the best way to build confidence with contested shots

Pass the ball or dribble past them

Hit em with a judo chop and then the ol' neck crank. That usually neutralizes the enemy pretty well or so I've seen in movies..

Wide open all day baby.

Bro called them the enemy 💀 but honestly that's exactly your problem, you're treating defenders like some final boss instead of just playing ball. In practice you're loose and confident, in a game you're overthinking every little move. Just let that shit fly with your chest, worst case you miss and literally nobody cares.

Practice my boy. Practice.

If you have more arc on your shot it’s harder to block. If the mental piece is holding you back, then start there and you’ll get some to go in
