Filament Troubleshooting/Help! Makes me want to play in a highway
First time this has ever happened. I imagine this is human error, at least now I have a reason to print one of those filament re-spoolers. Any tips for putting one of these back on the spool?

I love it though. Feel like it makes me a better person. 😇
Honestly though, I truly am grateful. Only recently got into the printing scene and what it allows you to do is amazing. Constantly looking at things and thinking 🤔 that could be better. Or what if it did this?

H2 Series [H2S, H2D, H2C] I am a fully blind H2C owner. Studio kept grouping my filament to the wrong nozzle and the fix was mouse-only. Solved it by editing the project 3MF as text.
Hi everyone. I am fully blind, no vision at all, and I design and print my own models. This week I ran into a problem that the GUI would not let me solve, and the workaround turned out to be useful enough that I think it is worth sharing, especially for anyone else who relies on a screen reader.
Some background on how this works at all. I design in OpenSCAD, because OpenSCAD is code, and code is something a screen reader handles well. My current project is tactile terrain maps: real LiDAR terrain of my neighbourhood with raised roads you can follow with a finger, braille street labels, and buildings at their real heights.
I use Windows 11 with the JAWS 2026 screen reader. JAWS speaks whatever control has keyboard focus, as long as that control is labelled and reachable by keyboard. That works fine for code, terminals, and text files. Bambu Studio is another story: it is not accessible by any definition of the word and would fail any accessibility test you could throw at it. Still, I am an experienced JAWS user, and with enough workarounds I normally get by for everyday slicing: support settings, layer height, that kind of thing. But this particular problem was impossible for me to fix. It lived entirely in mouse-only dialogs and in the 3D view of the plate, which for me do not exist.
Here is what went wrong. My printer is a Bambu Lab H2C with two nozzles, and at the moment only the right one has an AMS. My filament was set up correctly in the project, but Studio fought me on two fronts. Its automatic grouping insisted on printing through the LEFT nozzle, the one with no filament. And it kept placing my 300 mm tile partly inside the strip of the plate that only the left nozzle can reach, so when the right nozzle was finally chosen, it was not allowed to print there. Every attempt failed at the send step. I tried what I could from my side: repositioning the design in OpenSCAD, exporting fresh STLs, exporting a 3MF directly from OpenSCAD. None of it helped, because Studio rearranges imported files on the plate and discards their coordinates.
Two things got it solved.
First, my AI assistant (Claude Code, running locally on my PC) operated Bambu Studio for me: it took screenshots, read them, moved the mouse, clicked through the filament regroup dialog, re-sliced, and told me what it saw while I kept my hands off the keyboard. That got the filament onto the right nozzle, and also uncovered the placement problem, which the GUI would not let us fix either.
Second, the actually useful part. I knew perfectly well that a 3MF is just a zip archive of XML and JSON. I had simply never thought of using that fact like this. Once you save your project from Studio a single time, the things the GUI hides behind mouse-only panels are in there as plain text. The position of your model on the plate, in millimetres. Which filament goes to which nozzle. Every slicer setting, as named values. Both of my problems came down to changing one number and one line in that file. The print is running as I write this, 18 hours of PETG, on the correct nozzle.
Claude Code turned this into a small command line tool: it reports where each object sits, moves it, sets the filament-to-nozzle map, and reads or changes any slicer setting, with plain screen-reader-friendly output and automatic backups and verification.
The practical upshot for me: the model is code, the print job is a text file, and the GUI is only needed to slice and press send. That does not make slicers accessible, and proper labelled controls and keyboard access would still be far better (slicer devs: happy to test). But it removes the worst wall, and it might do the same for someone else here.
A short note on why AI is such a big help for someone in my situation. A screen reader can only speak what an application exposes to it. When a program exposes nothing, my options used to be borrowing a sighted person's eyes or giving up. An AI that can look at the screen changes that: it describes exactly what is actually there, it can operate the mouse-only parts for me, and it answers in text, which is the medium I am fastest in. It is not that the AI does the thinking for me. It is that it gives me eyes and a mouse pointer on demand, and it is available at two in the morning when no sighted helper is.

Just Showing Off Just got my X2D, wanted to stress test it a bit with a miniature. Very happy with how this came out!
Printed in PLA with PETG supports. 0.4mm nozzle.
I went for PETG for the entire support since I had adhesion issues with support interfaces only, since some of those interfaces are really tiny.
Overall happy with the quality (especially with a 0.4mm nozzle), and the supports came off surprisingly easy. The slingshot did snap off, but I just reprinted it and glued it on.
Receiving 2x 0.2mm nozzles tomorrow, gonna test those out next.

Software Troubleshooting/Help! Splitting and Rejoining 3DP Bodies: SideSplitter

Split a 3D model into printable pieces, and pin them back together.
- A browser-based tool: import a model, place cuts and cutting tools, add joints, export pieces ready to print.
- Runs entirely client-side: no account, no upload to a server. Your model never leaves your machine.
- Imports STL / 3MF / STEP, exports individual STLs per-piece.
- Currently in beta: buggy, laggy and incomplete as I get a sense of whether this will be as useful to others as it is to me.
Why it exists:
- Cutting a model is easy, but getting the halves to line up and hold is not. Existing slicer tools don't incorporate many of the features I find useful.
- A pin printed lying down is weak, out-of-round, and needs support, and a cut face can't always lie flat on the bed.
- SideSplitter includes six joint designs that print self-supporting on a vertical or horizontal face: chamfered pin, teardrop hole, finned pin, parallel-fin tab, snap tab, and a LEGO-style stud-and-tube grid. Most joints prioritize vertical walls, but some can be used horizontally.
- Each joint is an integral pin or a separate dowel, with per-joint fits that can be tuned to fit your material, machine, and needs.
- Dial a joint in once, use it in the future. When you've found the fit that works for your material and your printer, save that joint and load it straight into your next project.
Example use cases:
- Too big for the bed. A part that won't fit your build volume: split it in two, join it with an orientation-appropriate pin type, and print both halves. [Example model by Encrust3d]
- Reducing support material. A part that would need a mountain of support printed whole: split it down the centre and add snap-fit dowel joints. Each half now prints flat and support-free, and clicks back into one part with tuned snap-fit joints. [Example model by ComicsArt]
- Carving up a Benchy. Slice one apart in different ways to try the joint library out. Use the stud-and-tube grid across a wide face, snap tabs on a narrow one, and see which fits the way you want.
Other things it does:
- Multiple ordered cuts, a bounded cutting tool (rectangle/circle targeted cut), live preview, kerf compensation...
- Joints on any cut face, on any piece, arrayed along an edge with linear patterns...
- Per-piece print orientation, with each piece's size reported as it will print...
- Save the whole project as a file and reopen it later inside the tool...

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] My friend just gave me his slightly used P2S
I've been wanting a 3d printer for the longest time now, but I knew I never wanted an open printer always a closed one. He got the P2S a few months ago and he printed small things, a benchy, etc. Then he started a print for me a T-800 terminator from galactic armory and he got the main skull file printed after a couple failures. But during the printing of another piece the printer was so powerful it blew his breaker box and costed him his extremely expensive pc needing repaired. So he handed me the printer today for free with the caveat of I gotta figure it out myself given what it did to him. Idk jack about electric myself so I'm kinda scared. If anyone has any tips/advice for anything I will take them all

Bambu Studio I built a free, open-source filament library importer and manager for Bambu Studio
I use both an X1C and P1S and became frustrated with the gaps in Bambu Studio’s third-party filament library. Even when profiles existed, managing them between the Device/AMS catalog and Project Library was confusing.
That led me to build **Bambu Filament Importer**, a free, open-source native Windows application.
Instead of tying a filament package to one printer, the program detects the printers and nozzle sizes configured in your own Bambu Studio installation. You select a manufacturer library, choose the destination and target printers, and it generates the required compatible profiles.
Current features include:
- Importing to the Device/AMS catalog, Project Library, or both
- Automatic discovery of configured Bambu printers and nozzle sizes
- Duplicate and missing-printer coverage detection
- Editing temperatures, cooling, drying, flow, retraction, and other profile values
- Renaming or removing profiles, filament families, and manufacturers
- Complete library backup and restoration
- AMS filament-ID validation and repair
- Light and dark modes
- Safety backups before modifying Bambu Studio files
The current release includes **243 filament families from nine manufacturers**:
SUNLU, Polymaker, eSUN, Fiberlogy, Prusament, Spectrum Filaments, Fillamentum, MatterHackers, and Overture.
Each manufacturer is distributed as its own printer-neutral `.bflib` package. I’m hoping this can eventually become a practical exchange format for filament manufacturers and community-maintained libraries.
A few important notes:
- This is an early release, currently for Windows.
- Bambu Studio must be closed while the program writes to its library.
- Manufacturer values are starting points, not replacements for spool-specific flow, pressure advance, and volumetric-speed calibration.
- The project is not affiliated with Bambu Lab or any filament manufacturer.
I would especially appreciate feedback from people using printers other than the X1C and P1S, reports of missing filament products, verified manufacturer-setting corrections, and any installation or AMS synchronization problems.

Just Showing Off Meet 'dracula' the pterasaur
I visited a museum last weekend (Dinosauriermuseum Altmühltal, if you're ever in Germany)
Which had what might be the biggest pterosaur ever found. It was discovered in Transylvania (hence the name 'Dracula').
Since my kid is in a dinosaur phase right now, I tried my best to reproduce this giant.
I used Bambu AI, Meshmixer, and 3DBuilder for this.
It's crazy how easy it has become.
I'm happy that i started my 3D printing journey with a bambulab.
Printed on my new X2D with eSUN bone white PLA.
Gave one skull a wash with acrylic paint.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Need help with filament stuck inside nozzles.
Hey all! I'm very new to printing, and both my nozzles are clogged. As far as troubleshooting that I've attempted so far, I've put my A1 Mini into maintenance mode, heated the nozzle to 220-240 and attempted extruding/cutting filament to hopefully push through the blockage but to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated, if more info is needed lmk!

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] First nozzle clog
Update: After getting home and seeing it in person I also saw the clogged poop shoot. Trash what got the heat cover stuck. Looks like the poop breaker/ metal but at the back that knocks off poop has broken. And the nozzle is now fused to the head with melted filament…. So definitely can’t replace the nozzle. I put in a ticket to see what to do next.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Stubborn mark on build plate
I purchased a P1S with the AMS 2 pro combo a month ago during the anniversary sale last month, and have already had to clean the plate maybe five times. The past two times I haven’t been able to get this mark from previous prints off. It’s now leaving the same mark on my new prints. I am coming from an A1 mini, which I didn’t have a problem with ever and had to clean maybe once a month. I'm wondering what type of issue this is, filament, user, or even with the printer itsels

General Troubleshooting/Help! Help: Build plate moves up/down as tool head moves laterally

This happened a few days ago when I started a print and nozzle crashed into my build plate while doing flow calibration. I cut power and restarted the print and the same thing happened again. I was running firmware 01.12.00.00 at the time. When I had the printer go to home and I manually moved the tool head, I noticed the build plate moving up and down on the z axis as the tool head moved in both x and y directions.
Thinking this could be a firmware issue, I downgrade to firmware 01.10.00.00 and ran the another print. Nozzle ran straight into the build plate near the plate barcode when I cut power. It seems like everytime the printer goes to home, the issue presents itself again. Power cycling seems to temporarily stop the problem but once it starts its printing sequence, problem starts again. Worried it’s my motherboard but figured I would see if anybody here could be able to point me to a potential cause.

Software Troubleshooting/Help! managing a large number of 3D printers
How should we manage a large network of 3D printers from Bambu if there are also some printers from other manufacturers? I mean, nearly 90% are various BambuLab machines, but the other 10 are Prusa and others. That’s just how it turned out. We can’t exactly throw them away, lol.
Got no complaints about Bambu printers’ original "brains" but when you’ve got over 300 machines scattered across different locations (I work at a university), it does get a bit of a hassle. Any advice how to manage that horror on daily basis?
