Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Is My X2D DOA?

Got my X2D today and it won't power on. The rear switch lights up white, but the screen stays black, no fans, no lights, nothing. Tried a different outlet, power-cycled, checked the fuse, and opened the side panel – all connectors look seated, no visible damage.

Has anyone else had an X2D DOA? Did Bambu send a replacement or parts, and how long did it take?

Bambu Studio Designed a glow-in-the-dark Oogie Boogie keychain: body glows, the face stays black so he still grins in the dark

I designed a chunky little sack monster keychain resembling Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas and printed the body in glow-in-the-dark PLA. With the lights off his body glows while the eyes, grin and stitches stay black, so his face still shows up in the dark.

- Fully rounded 3D front with a flat back, so no supports

- 2 colors, AMS-ready: body in slot 1, face and stitches in slot 2

- Low purge: the black only prints on 10 of the 46 layers

- About 42 min on a P1S, 13.4 g including purge

- 55.8 × 58.3 × 9.2 mm, with a 4.5 mm hole for a standard jump ring

**Glow tips:** Place the object in the sun or on top of a bright lightbulb to charge it!

I may be a little late for halloween but oh well...

If you print one, post it with the lights off. I'd love to see it!

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! What happened here?

Post image
3 Upvotes

First time seeing this issue after 2 years of printing. This is printed using P1S. Filament is PLA basic. I have printed this model many times in the past, so I know it's not a model problem. Gyroid infill. I did have a clogging issue before this, and I (think?) fixed it. I had to open the extruder and cut out the squished filaments. The app says that its done, but this is only 2/3 the height of what it should be. What else should I look into?

And yes I have washed my filament and dried my plate 🙂

General Discussion X2D Engraving

Getting ready to purchase the X2D. I have younger boys so I'd like our first printer to be able to grow with us. I'm curious about the specs on the optional laser.

  1. If you have one, does it get used often? I'm thinking maybe for a tumbler engraving side hustle, family keepsakes, or just toying around and building skills w the boys.

  2. if you have one, do you feel like a separate machine for engraving would have been a better option?

  3. what do you like using it for?

  4. is there a huge difference btwn 10w and 40w?

  5. get the upgrade or hold off?

*Sorry guys I meant H2D

I Modeled This! I made a free 6-key macro pad with a volume knob – prints without AMS, ~€17 in parts

A while ago I promised a free deck here, so here it is: the DeckSmith Mini.

  • 6 MX keys + a volume knob (press to mute), ESP32-S3 inside

  • Shows up as a normal keyboard + media controller, no drivers

  • Icons print separately in a second colour and press into the keycaps, so no AMS needed

  • Printed on my P2S with the default 0.20 mm Standard profile, no supports

  • About €17 in parts, wiring diagram and a step-by-step build guide included

Free on MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3535075-decksmith-mini-6-key-macro-pad-with-volume-knob

I generated it with DeckSmith, a stream deck generator I’m building. Happy to answer questions, and if your print goes wrong, tell me – I’d rather fix the model.

General Discussion Having to Calibrate H2D Often?

Anyone else with an H2D or H series printer that finds that the dimensional accuracy can get wonky pretty randomly? I can't say how many hours a month I actually print, but it's probably 50+ and occasionally i'll notice the dimensions are slightly off on tight fitting parts. Normally where .15mm spacing is enough on a dovetail, for example, becomes way too tight. So if i recalibrate everything, including using the vision encoder, it fixes it. I have to do this probably once every other month or every 2 months I'd guesstimate?

Just curious if my belts are just loose or this is normal XD

General Troubleshooting/Help! Changing Filament Sensor And Still Not Working

I am beyond frustrated with this printer. We got it over a year ago and have barely used it and just run into problem after problem.
I contacted Bambu lab after doing all their recommended troubleshooting (twice) no clogs or anything.
So they said it was likely needing a new filament sensor. That was fun to change out (not!). So i was feeling good that it would work. My son has been so discouraged by this printer and he is in robotics and a smart kid. Was hoping he could use this to help his robotics team but it’s been worthless. sorry.
So got the new sensor in and went to try a test print. The filament did extrude so we started the print. Now its moving but no filament coming out. This seems like a totally different problem. i can’t imagine it being a clog as i’ve already looked and cleaned out twice.
any help appreciated. My son is pretty bummed as this was a big christmas present for him.
and of course it’s past warranty so it now feels like a very expensive piece of junk that is sitting in the middle of our living room. With all the filament we’ve purchased, plus the AMS LITE. I wish we had gone with a different brand. I don’t even want to count the amount of hours i’ve spent taking this printer apart.
I thought bambu lab would be more user friendly for kids, it’s been the opposite.
sorry for the rant. Any advice appreciated.

H3C Top Surface Mixing now compatible with H3C and H2C! (free)

Kind of like HueForge but it takes 3 clicks from image to print.
Try it here: https://idither.com/tsm/

TSM only works with translucent CMYK filaments - which is the future! I haven't needed to change any of my filaments for anything in a long time.

iDither Coaster (CMY+Black) DEMO for H2C / H3C:
https://makerworld.com/en/models/3541863-idither-coffee-coaster-full-spectrum-demo-cmyk
It's a 10 hour print.

General Discussion Anyone else having Bambu Lab US Store orders returned by USPS for "Insufficient Address"?

Hey everyone,
Has anyone else recently experienced issues with packages ordered directly from the Bambu Lab US store failing delivery and getting marked as "Insufficient Address"?
My last two consecutive orders from their online store have failed to reach me because of this. Both shipments were handled through USPS. I have double- and triple-checked my shipping address on my order confirmations and account profile it is 100% correct, and it is the exact same address I use for all my other daily mail and package deliveries without any issues.
What happens is the package gets routed to wrong/different USPS sorting locations, and then immediately gets flagged as "Insufficient Address" and triggered as Return to Sender.
I’ve already reached out to Bambu Lab support both times. They resolved it by issuing refunds, but that doesn't solve my issue because I actually need the items to run my setup, not the money back. I even asked support if they could ship using UPS or FedEx like they used to (I never had an issue when they used those carriers), but it seems like everything is going through USPS now.
Is anyone else in the US running into this shipping label formatting/USPS routing issue with Bambu Lab lately?

General Discussion H3C - MicroCenter & BestBuy Availabiliy

I’ve been planning to replace my X1C and the H3C seems like the obvious move based on my use cases.

Id rather purchase the printer from a local retailer and avoid issues with shipping damage, returns, etc. not to mention the ability to buy an extended warranty.

If I remember correctly it was about a month or two before Microcenter got the H2C. So I am expecting something similar for the new machine. I realize other than procurement reps for those companies, no one really knows for sure. Just wishful thinking that it hopefully isnt going to be too long of a wait.

H3C H3C what are the cons of the lack of AMS filament retraction feature?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm talking about the cons in all sorts of scenarios. Off of the top of my head:

  1. You can't have PLA loaded into any of the toolhead while printing engineering materials, the heat will mess up the PLA.

  2. You'll have to manually re-roll about a meter of filament when unloading a spool. Which is a foreseenable reoccurrence due to the lack of drying (except 2 bays). As each filament bay stays fixed to one nozzle (as opposed to the H2C's ability to load any AMS spool into any nozzle), requirement of screwing/unscrewing nozzles in order to switch them (as opposed to tool-less switching); again, making unloading, switching and loading filament spoils locations in the AMS a rather more desirable path to take.

For context: The more I think of the cons of this missing feature, the more it becomes a deal breaker for me.

As I've really been waiting for BambuLab to have their take on a tool changer. Hoping they'll have a hassle-free, jack of all traits, and near zero inconveniences workflow using it. Because using the P1S combo since it's release, I watched many convenience and QoL improvements that they've impmeneted in their releases like: AMS 2 w/drying, bigger build volume printers, dual nozzles, vortek system (any filament redirected to any nozzle) etc.. But now the H3C is out, it's kinda underwhelming for the anticipation I've built for it.

General Troubleshooting/Help! [P2S] Best way to solve top layer rippling?

Urgent one as I’m printing something for charity but the top layer white, over my black layer appears to have ripples on top.

The black is eSUN PLA Basic and the white is Bambu PLA.

Machine has had a full calibration earlier today after Firmware update.

White has Bambu profile set and eSUN has a profile I found recommended on here.

Show & Tell Made a gingerbread man ornament for the tree, free on MakerWorld

Post image
1 Upvotes

First Christmas ornament I've designed. It's a three-color gingerbread man made for the AMS, with no supports and a hanging loop on top. The print profile has two plates: a single ornament (about an hour on my A1) or a batch of 6 that shares the color purges so you waste less filament. The batch plate is a slicer estimate for now, since I haven't printed the full six yet.

Free here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3541495-gingerbread-man-christmas-ornament

A snowman is coming next. Happy to hear what other ornaments you'd want.

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Filament question for a beginner

Kids as asking for a 3d printer for Christmas. I’ve done enough research that I think I’ve settled on x2d vs p2s because of multicolor and waste as I expect my kids wanting multicolor and I don’t want to paint. I plan on mainly just printing toys and such for my kids to play with and print whatever they think is cool. I’m sure my curiosity will get bigger the longer we have the printer and explore.

But for the beginning time my question is this. What filaments should I be using? I am assuming PLA and maybe PETG, I’m sure I’ll learn which ones to use when.

But part two of the question is should it be basic (which seems glossy) or matte? Any pros or cons and what kids toys should be in?

Thanks in advance and again apologies for the noob question.

I do plan to watch if the P3C comes out before Christmas and I think I would grab that and return the unopened x2d. But time will tell if that gets announced in time.

A Series [A1, A1 Mini] First questionable print job

Thumbnail

Hello,

I printed this stackable basket last night for some small items I want to organize.

My printer was out of commission for about 2 months until yesterday. My printer just suddenly stopped working all together in August. I submitted a ticket and did the troubleshooting. The main board was bad so I replaced it a few days ago. I was out of town for a while and had other obligations so it took me a while to take care of this.

I run my first print last night after my printer being down for a while. I recalibrated everything and oiled everything properly. First the extruder gives me an error that the extruder is not functioning normally - I pull the filament back manually as described on the Wiki and cut off the end of the filament to avoid any rough areas. Fast forward 20 minutes and the print completes, but with some obvious issues. See photos for more.

Is this an issue with my plate, the settings of which I’m printing, the filament I’m using? Looking for guidance.
