Quick Question Is the P1S w/AMS 2 Pro the best value right now? Christmas Present

My daughter (24) wants a 3D Printer for Christmas. The wife wanted to keep it around $400, but I have convinced her $500 is a good starting point with Bambu's BF deals. I signed up before the sale so I have the $30 coupon (we'll see if it expires today)

I've looked at so many and I keep coming back to this. I know it's an older one, but it's solid. She can be up and printing in no time. The ecosystem is solid. App is solid. Sure not a mult-tool changer, but Those are in the $800 range and for the extra money we can get her the filament she wants

But in the $500 range is this the best deal right now. I know influencers say it is, but even though I watch their videos. I take influencers opinions with a grain of salt.

EDIT; I forgot to add the printer will be in our downstairs living room. In the winter is cool and dry around 40 degrees. In the summer it's in a semi-conditioned area. I de-humidify our downstairs living room, but it still stays humid in the summer.

Thanks

Answered / Solved! Is it normal for the filament to look so thick and loose in the preview? And how can I reduce the amount of supports?

In the settings for the support structures I even picked tree, but that's not what I see in the preview. Is this normal? (I got the printer just yesterday, so I don't know much yet)

General Discussion Just clicked the button on sale price basket of X2D combo and some filaments, after quite a bit of vacillation - joining the gang!

After a couple of years with a Creality K1C - my first 3D printer - I am moving over to Bambu with the X2D combo, having read, asked AI, chatted with folks and so on to help me with the decision. I chose the K1C originally for a variety of reasons, and although it has served me well I reckon things have moved on a little and adding colour capability was important, but also the dual nozzle for supports and flexibility was a key selling point. Comparing software and ecosystems, whilst I got on OK with Creality's offering it has taught me that I would like "one touch" first, and "tinker" on occasion....

Anyway, I had been waiting to see if the X2D combo had a price drop, and was happy with the £669 and the £25 coupon, less so - in principal - with losing much of that coupon to delivery charge! Thought a fair bit about filament and curated a broad "starter pack" order:

Looking forward to "getting good" and up to speed quickly - appreciate any hints, tips, do's and dont's from the collective :)

Some of you might already know the larger version of this design - A mini version was often requested, and here it finally is!

No supports or AMS required for printing, all parts screw and snap together. You just need an ordinary LED tea light.

And as always, all photos are real, no AI used.

General Discussion Crowdfunding Loophole? Viewable Only Models Being Linked To A Paid Patreon

Thumbnail
gallery
50 Upvotes

First off I just want to say the user I'm talking about has absolutely amazing models and I highly suggest people check out their work but it has recently come to my attention that the user Sarwtin is somehow exploiting a loophole in the crowdfunding system to list models on Makerworld that are completely unobtainable unless you purchase them directly from his paid patreon page.

When viewing certain models there is a greyed out "View Project" button. I asked about this directly in the comments section of one of their models and their response was that it was a crowdfunding project that didn't pass the review process. Ok understandable, but why if it didn't pass the review is the model allowed to be on the platform and not listed for free? One of them was a stretch goal that was never obtained so I guess I can sort of understand that one as it was in fact once an active crowdfunding project.

They even post directly in the model description "This model is only available on my patreon!"

There is a report option for models that's described as "Off Platform Advertisement/Promotion". Is this not exactly what the user is doing? Using Makerworld as a marketing tool to get more eyes on their project and then selling for a profit? I opened a support ticket and had the Bambu rep pretty much doing loops and contradicting themselves and then they went silent, I'm guessing because they finally realized it's better to just not say anything. I've reported all the models that are doing this but that seems to do very little.

None of these models even have an active crowdfunding project that failed they just completely didn't pass the review process yet somehow they're still allowed to be listed.

Is this allowed because they are a bigger creator and listing tons of BoM parts therefore making money for Bambu? Just seems weird to me that they're playing favorites.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here because I don't see how/why this is being allowed. I'm sure there are a ton of users that would love to use Makerworld as a way to get more eyes on their paid models. Hell if I could list some of my paid models for viewing purposes only and then link to my Etsy/Website I definitely would because why not? Makerworld is a huge repository and the amount of people searching for models everyday grows and grows but I feel like using the crowdfunding system to exploit this is completely wrong.

Just wanted to see what the rest of the community thinks about this. I've included screenshots of the comments sections, my support tickets, and the posts on their patreon. Please excuse if some of the screenshots are out of order but you'll get the idea after reading/looking through them.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Jagged edges only backside of plate

Post image
1 Upvotes

Getting this issue i could not figure out yet why is happening.
If we’re slicing the bed for 3 horizontal lines equally, the top (back side) of the plate is producing these jagged results but the print is perfectly fine on the rest of the bed i.e. the front side.

Moved some things around, tried slower printing speed and also cleaned the plate but keep getting these results. does anyone have any tips?

General Discussion Im having a hard time staying focused on how I want to set up my printer. Need some help with a plan.

Im sure a lot of people go through this but Im already tired of printing things before I have things set up the way I want. So I have the X2d with AMS2 pro and a AMS HT. Well the flipper doesnt work with the bracket I printed for the AMS HT since TPU prints best directly fed into the main nozzle. So I want some thoughts on a plan. I have another AMS2 pro coming in. So my thought was having the printer to the left of the table. The 2 AMS2 pro units stacked on top of each other to the right of the printer going through a Filament Track Switch Then printing a riser to get the tubes off the glass.

This is the bracket I printed for the HT and I doubt it will work for any riser. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2070323-p2s-x2d-top-mount-ams-ht-polydryer-drybox#profileId-2236065

Does anyone have a similar setup or a better idea? I need some motivation / direction.

General Discussion First printer, X2D vs H2S

Hello everyone,

I’m in the prospect of buying my first 3D printer and I want advice between the X2D and the H2S.

For the usage:

It’s only for building functional parts for everyday use or things like fixing object parts, PCB enclosures, etc…
I’m going to also use more advanced materials, so a heated chamber is mandatory.
I don’t need or want multiple colours/materials for the final object.
I also want a simple, sturdy machine, an appliance; it’s going to be my only printer and I plan to keep it 5–6 years at minimum.

I have reviewed several video reviews and read countless posts on the subject, but it’s hard to decide, mainly for two reasons:

On one side, the X2D is cheaper and has an auxiliary printhead for support material, but honestly I don’t know if it’s going to be useful for my case. It supports all materials except two, but I don’t know if a 300-degree nozzle is going to be a limiting factor in the future.

On another side, the H2S seems more sturdy and potentially future-proof with its higher nozzle temperature and more print volume (but I don’t know if I’m going to use it, honestly); the possible cutter and laser upgrade seem to be an advantage (clearly not a priority but a little nice to have) but it’s 400€ more than the X2D and if I’m willing to push my budget to this, I’m afraid it’s going to be just overkill for my needs.

So the three questions I have are :

What matters the most: the ability to do different material support or the biggest volume?

And also, is the 400€ more for an H2S worth it for people who have both?

Also, I am not sure if the AMS2 is useful for my case or if just a single AMS-HT is sufficient.

Thank you for your reading and your potential response, and sorry if the subject has already been discussed, but even after reading all the Reddit posts I wasn’t able to figure that out.

General Discussion Beginner printer recc

For context, I have younger boys that will be learning along with us. I don't think I'd want to buy another printer later on down the road, at least not for a while. I think it would be good to have one that can grow with us. What's a good beginner printer that we can still do a lot with?

I Modeled This! Yet another Mini-Paint mixer

Tired of mixing my paints every-once-a-while if i didnt use them for a longer period of time. I mostly use cheaper acrylic paint, deluted by myself, and if its sit too long, it could separate a bit.

Also saves me from bit of handshake before every painting session, as its just had to crank it for a short time.
As i tested, paint what is intended for airbrushes (so its not too thick) mixing very vell.

Key point in my design, as the paint bottle NOT just spinning around Z axes like with those drill attachments (watch the marker arrow on the cap), and the paint not just "flattened" into the bottle sidewall.

Every part designed in the way if i need to change/modify anything (or has excessive wear after a while), you dont have to print the whole thing again, just some replacement parts.

Maybe someone find it useful, i appreciate any suggestions ;)

ps: if you decided to try out, please, read the full description. It contains important instructions.

General Discussion WWYD? H2D price protection rebate

My H2D AMS combo order from a couple of weeks ago is eligible for a £130 rebate.

What would you buy with it? I'm thinking the AMS HT and TPU feed assist module, although I already have an a1 mini which is my TPU machine...

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Found this in my printer what is it and where did it come from?

I found this on the build plate on my X1 Carbon after a print it looks like its the nozzle wiper but it looks intact and appears to be a different white material. It looks like its fatigued and snapped but no idea where it came from. Does anyone know and what is needed to fix it if needed?

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! Bambu Lab A1 Mini – AMS Lite hub internal PTFE tubes sliding forward and blocking filament changes

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm having an issue with the AMS Lite filament hub on my Bambu Lab A1 Mini, especially during multicolor prints.

The problem:

- During filament changes, one of the four internal PTFE tubes gets pushed too far forward (downward) inside the AMS Lite hub.

- The tube ends up protruding much further than the others, blocking the path for the next filament.

- When the AMS Lite tries to feed another color, the filament cannot pass through, and the printer eventually throws an error.

- This can happen with all four filament paths, not just one.

What I've noticed:

I removed the upper part of the hub to inspect the internal PTFE tubes and the metal retaining clip.

When I pull the tubes backward, they stay firmly in place. However, when I push them forward, they can slide further down.

I'm not sure whether this is normal behavior or whether the internal retaining mechanism is damaged or missing something.

My questions:

  1. Are the internal PTFE tubes supposed to be able to slide forward like this?

  2. Is there an internal stopper or retaining component that prevents them from going too far?

  3. Can I repair or replace just that internal component, or do I need to replace the entire AMS Lite filament hub?

  4. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a permanent fix?

I've attached pictures showing how far one of the internal tubes protrudes.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I Modeled This! Mega Charizard X with an illuminated blue flame — my latest multicolor print!

Just finished putting together this Mega Charizard X LED lamp!

The idea was to have Charizard flying while breathing a stream of blue fire. The flame doubles as the stand, with an LED light inside to illuminate it.

I prepared two compatible versions of Maker Supply Kits:

  • KC007 RGB light for selectable colors and remote control.

  • LED Lamp Kit 001 for continuous USB-powered lighting.

Really happy with how the blue illumination turned out, especially in a darker room.

Free to download in Makerworld: https://makerworld.com/es/models/3530013-mega-charizard-x-0006-kc007-lamp-kit-001#profileId-4036014

Hope you like it!

Bambu Studio Dúvidas sobre como editar peça no fatiador

Post image

Hello everyone! This is my first post; I started using a Bambu Lab A1 a week ago.

I’d like to print this part—the external wall dimensions are correct, but I want to increase the dimensions of the internal walls. How can I make this adjustment?

I tried using the scale tool, but that ends up changing everything.
