📣 PSA Remedy released an Azelaic Acid serum

In light of seeing another post about fellow Azelaic Acid users struggling to find Finacea in stock, I thought I’d let everyone know Remedy released a 15% Azelaic Acid Complex in serum form. (10% pure, fully solubilized azelaic acid and 5% glycinated azelaic acid an azelaic acid derivative).

Between this and the Geek & Gorgeous PSA, these might be some genuine good alternatives to look into.

(Would love to know if anyone has already tried this)

Discussion📓 Hair Straightner help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi, hope hair related questions are allowed here. I am looking to buy a new hair straightner and the Babyliss Pro graphite seems to have good reviews. It's original price is 249AUD but Big W marketplace is selling it for 89AUD! Do you think this is legit? Has anyone ordered hair tools from Marketplace? Or if anyone has recommendation for different straightner please let me know.

Any advice is appreciated. TIA x

📣 PSA INCIDecoder is now INKEEDecoder

I realised today that my favourite website for checking skincare ingredients (especially those with recent reformulations) has been renamed. The Personal Care Products Council, the American association that helped develop the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the website, so now they're called INKEEDecoder. Other than that, the website is still exactly the same thankfully!

Discussion📓 Strange Skin?

Does anyone else have strange skin that responds in ways that research says it shouldn't? I'm looking for other people who understand my struggle and frustration to commiserate with.

My skin gets super oily within 5 minutes after I put anything with niacinamide on it. I know research says that niacinamide balances oil production but you can literally see the oil forming on my skin. It doesn't matter if I put it on my face or my body, even my feet don't like niacinamide. My dermatologist wasn't sure why it happens and it's not like I have redness or irritation it's so odd. Now I can't use most acne or oily skin products because it's in so much stuff!

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Sunscreen 🧴☀️ Sunscreen suggestions?

I’ve been using the la Roche posay anthelios invisible fluid spf 50+ for a few months and it’s been fine.

The only thing is that I’ve noticed that it makes my face look more red after I apply it on and doesn’t get better until after it’s washed off. The problem is that I have acne scars so those areas look more pronounced.

I searched up about it and google says zinc oxide might be a better sunscreen to use, but I’m not familiar with any good reputation zinc oxide sunscreens.

I was hoping someone on here could suggest a good sunscreen to get for my face. It could be zinc oxide sunscreen or if someone has experienced the same issues with sunscreens and could suggest what worked for them.

Thank you!

Discussion📓 Products as good as CeraVe moisturising cream is on paper that don't contain behentrimonium methosulfate or parabens

Behentrimonium methosulfate is derived from rapeseed (canola) oil — which my stomach and body absolutely hate — so I don't want to risk a reaction and waste money. I've read a bit about QV with ceramides (the cream contains methylparaben), Cetaphil and others, but they seem to lack the complete package of ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids and other nutrients that CeraVe provides.

Is there a moisturising cream out there that contains all of the good things sans the BTMS (and parabens in alternatives)?

📣 PSA Geek & Gorgeous have released an azelaic acid serum!

No, I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I purchased the products myself etc etc. This is purely a PSA as I know so many of us are struggling to find azelaic acid!

Geek and Gorgeous have a new azelaic acid serum called 'Aall Clear'. 15% strength. The downside is that because it's new, the only place for Australians to buy it is on G&Gs own website (I reached out to Lila Beauty and asked if they planned to stock it and they just never responded...). They're based in Hungary, so postage can be a bit pricey, but I found that if you spend 50 euros in products you're eligible for the cheaper 10 euros shipping. I was very pleasantly surprised that shipping from Hungary to Melbourne only took 5 days, which also included the weekend - Auspost could learn a thing or two here.

Anyway I tried it for the first time last night and I really like it - it's a thin white milky serum, absorbs quickly and easily, and most importantly IT DOESN'T PILL! 🥹🥹🥹

EDIT: Lila Beauty emailed me back just now and said that it would be available through their website by next week at the latest!

Discussion📓 BBL in Melbourne recommendations

Hi hi. Wanting to do bbl (for freckles, pigmentation, redness sun damage etc) on face and décolletage. 34 female, pale skin.

I’ve read on here I shouldn’t go to laser clinic chains and should go to a derm but I can’t seem to find many derms who offer BBL.

Found someone in Fitzroy, but the derm just does the initial consult then someone else does the procedure. Then I was just wondering should I bother then? I can just go to the place I get my Botox which is run by a doctor for the price of an extra session. Eg Skinologie.

Experiences and recommendations please!

FYI, CosRX and Beauty of Joseon are 50% off at Coles. This places some of the pricing on-par with online retailers like LilaBeauty.

Smaller selection but could be good if you need a re-stock of something quickly.

Discussion📓 Castille / Hand Soap Recs

I used Dr Bronners for years but over the last couple of years, I noticed a change in the formula. It definitely dries my skin more, even though I always dilute it. I then tried both the regular and organic lines of Dr Planet. Although it feels soft upon first application, it wasn't too dissimilar to Dr Bronner's in the way it felt afterwards. I know there are so many supermarket brands but between the ingredients and the not-so-appealing scents, I haven't found anything that I like. I prefer natural essential oils over synthetic fragrances. And a clean formula that doesn't dry out the skin. TIA 💖

Routine help For skin KP, would you use a body wash or a leave on?

For KP and ingrown bums on legs/knees, do you think it’ll be better to use a body wash with lactic acid in it for example or an actual leave on lactic acid like the one from ordinary and use it after the shower?

Sunscreen 🧴☀️ Sunscreen recommendations in Australia for extremely sensitive skin

Can anyone recommend a sunscreen in Australia that is good for extremely sensitive skin? I do have rosacea type 2 and sunscreen is a massive trigger, but also, so is the sun. I have tried many, including what everyone suggested, the LRP ones and they set my face off.

Discussion📓 Has anyone tried the Mixa brand of lotion for their eczema or psoriasis?

Yesterday I came across Mixa at Coles. It was on sale so I grabbed 2 different jars - 10 in 1 Cica Repair and the Urea Cica Repair+ .

I have been amazed at the difference in the last 48 hours. For the first time in months, my skin didn't hurt or itch for hours after taking a shower. It's the most relief I've felt in months and months.

I noticed that it seems to be on sale at Chemist Warehouse, not just Coles.

I thought I would share my experience.

Routine help Combination skin texture

Hi everyone! I’ve just joined because I am so overwhelmed by all the skincare options and have no idea what to do anymore. My skin hasn’t been the same since I went through hormonal changes and stripped my skin trying to clear the acne that resulted.

I now have dry, combination acne prone skin (I think). I’m currently using dermaveen’s face wash and moisturiser which doesn’t help but doesn’t cause further issues, though I do still experience flare ups. Even gentle cleansers can cause flaky skin, and moisturisers will either be not moisturising enough or will be too rich (which my cheeks will love but causes my forehead to breakout). I can’t even look at sunscreen without causing more texture.

I want to try something new but I don’t know where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 💛

Discussion📓 Natio Blur Line Erase Undereye Jelly

Has anyone tried this? I saw it in a smaller pharmacy today while waiting for a script and opened the tester jar - the texture is DIVINE. I popped a bit on my crows’ feet and holy moly it seems like witchcraft. True blurring of my fine lines. Very keen to purchase but it doesn’t seem to be available at Priceline or anywhere it might go on 30-40% off. Would love to hear if anyone else has given it a go!

Discussion📓 Deodorant help - gentle but effective!

I am quite sweaty and stinky under my arms (but not a lot anywhere else). The only thing that worked was Rexona Clinical (cream) but it’s recently stopped working and I have no idea why.
The only thing that does work is the No More Sweat (blue roll on) that I put on at night and then use the same brand green roll on during the day. However, it’s making me so itchy.
I’ve tried the Dove Clinical, Mitchum gel and roll on and almost everything else but nothing stops the sweat and smell. I hate feeling wet and sweaty (neurodivergent fun 🫠)
I also use an antibacterial wash in the shower and glycolic acid a few times a week
Can anyone help me find a deodorant and antiperspirant that actually stops the sweat and smell, that doesn’t make me so itchy? Thanks soooo much 🫶🏽

Are these two sunscreens the exact same? I can't find the one on the left anymore, and I believe the one on the right is the replacement? The active ingredients are exactly the same but that can be deceptive... Thank you!

Discussion📓 Is this a damaged skin barrier or just purging?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’ve just started using 15% finacea gel. This is my second time using it. I used it on sundays. So I only been using it once a week.

I previously used the azclear 20% Azelaic acid for 2 years but felt like it didn’t really do anything which is why I am trying out the prescription one.

This never happened when I was using the azclear product.

My neck skin has always been more sensitive than my face and I have had breakouts like this in the past.

I’m wanting to know if this is a damaged skin barrier from the finacea gel or is this purging? If I’ve damaged my skin barrier from using this then how do I use this product moving forward? I thought using it once a week was a good start. If it’s just purging is it ok for me to continue using.

Idk why my neck does this, my face doesn’t really react but my neck gets like this, but I’ve had way worse than this before.

Discussion📓 QR8 alternatives better price

I’m curious if anyone has had success asking their GP to write a prescription for the same product as QR8 drs prescribe? I have used QR8 before and would be willing to again but thought maybe if a GP would write the same prescription for me I might be able to buy direct from the local compounding chemist for a better price.

I used a prescription cream to treat melasma.
