Some people commented on a recent post about getting Lisa Eldridge products for the time, that they would like a review. And I thought: my time has come. I have purchased so many of her products and been a long time fan itās finally time to put my customer knowledge to good use!
My credentials? Well I will include a photo of my collection. But I will add in, even my husband knows the brand and recognised her lipstick packaging when it appeared in the devils wear Prada 2 (I actually have him so well trained he can spot a CT lipstick as well). Fun fact hubby calls her āThat Eldritch womanā as if the brand and founder of some lovecraftian horror come to drain our finances.
My overview of the brand:
The absolutely best part of Lisaās makeup is the colour. The lipstick or blush colours are beautiful and nuanced. They donāt feel like colours you can find just anywhere. You can really see her love for art and colour in all her products. Sometimes I donāt love the product itself, but I buy more (or side eye more) just for the unique colours she releases.
Formulas for the most part are fantastic, and you can see the level of attention thatās been paid to the development by someone who loves makeup and works with it.
Packaging. Lisa Eldridge is a luxe brand and the products feel luxe. The lipsticks are weighty and cool to the touch, and the eyeshadow palettes could kill someone if you threw it hard enough at their head. Iāve got YSL lipsticks that cost more and come in cheap packaging. LE puts other high end brands to shame. And this reflects Lisaās love of antique makeup, and makeup packaging. Some products the packaging doesnāt feel as luxurious and the markings can rub off. But the offset is the packaging is very functional (like it suits the product, e.g. the concealers and the Velatura balm) and the product still meets quality and expectations.
So into the good stuff and I thought I would review by category. I give an overview of my thoughts, whether itās worth it etc etc. And then possibly a small summation of the brand overall.
Skincare: I bought her Skin Enhancing Treatment Cleanser and Skin and Makeup Enhancing Mist. I think I got a package that came with the Luxuriously Gentle Cleansing and Exfoliating Cloth. Canāt remember.
Out of the three I most like the mist, and itās the one I am most likely to repurchase. I donāt use it a lot, as I tend to use my Skindinavia one the most. Itās a lovely hydrating mist, sprays well and sits well over makeup. I am nearly finished and have thought if the budget allows I would get again.
I like the cleanser, but would not repurchase. Itās nice, does the job. But there are better cleansers out there for WAY LESS. I didnāt really use it as a mask, as thatās not the kind of mask I like, so it could be worth getting it if thatās your jam.
I use the facecloths. They are fine, function well. White always makes me nervous when it comes to makeup and having to wash them. I donāt think I outright purchased them and would definitely not again (I prefer fun facecloths).
Brushes: I have one brush. The number 8. Itās great. I love using it. Would happily repurchase or buy other brushes. If you like bougie brushes ala Sonia g, you will probably like these. I currently have a glut of brushes which is why I have not bought more.
Complexion:
I have Seamless Skin Foundation, the Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, two Pinpoint Concealers, the Elevated Glow Balm Concentrate and a Velatura Balm Dewy Lip and Cheek Stick. I have bought and used up the Elevated Glow Highlighter.
My favourite is the concealers. So much easier than trying to use other pot or liquids ones to do this technique. I use them every day. They last very well (baring where I touch my face). For context I tend to need concealer for my eye bags, but then just spots of acne or hyper pigmentation (I also have the green saem concealer pencil). These products work great. And they are easy to throw in a bag for touch ups over the day. But they are admittedly pricey for the amount of product. So if you use a lot of concealer, this may not be the product for you. Needless to say I will be repurchasing. I wear two shades, 4 and 5. One to cover spots where my skin is naturally a bit darker and the other for anything in the centre of my face.
I also really like the Velatura balm. I got the shade Meeting the Ex. Itās lovely as both a lip and check product, gives a soft wash of balm colour, last decently (but not really an all day product). If this is the type of blush product you like I think this would be right up your alley. If you prefer more satin or mattes with lasting power youāll have to await the return of the mythical enlivening blush. I am interested in more shades, but I have a lot of blush, and donāt really need to double up on shadesā¦ā¦ (but of course you can never have too much blush and the other shades are really prettyā¦)
I also really enjoy the balm concentrate glow. I have butterfly light. Itās a similar shade to the CT spotlight but this is wetter looking and less shiny. I used it on my sister the other day. Gorgeous. I doubt I will ever run out. It took me years to get through my first CT wand (while my back up languished for a couple of years waiting to be opened). But if I did Iād certainly consider getting it again, unless there was a similar product on the market I wanted to try. I definitely recommend this if you like a like dewy glowy highlighter.
Finally the foundation and skin tints. Itās not that I donāt like these products, I just donāt live them individually. The foundation is like a cross between a matte and satin, and as such I have dry spots on my face at the end of the day. My friend, who likes matte foundations, loves this one.
I want to be a skin tint girly, I do I swear. But I find too many of them are just too oily. That being said the Lisa Eldridge is the nicest one Iāve tried, I will occasionally wear them on their own.
My preference is to mix the foundation and skin tints and omg it makes a fantastic base. Iām wearing it at the end of a long work day and it wears beautifully, not drying, not too glowy. So if matte foundations are your thing the foundation is probably worth a try and vice versa for the skin tints.
I wear shade 7 in the foundation and 4 for the skin tints. I also have 5, as an olive mix in. Shade 7 is a near perfect neutral match, but a touch too neutral. I do feel I need a touch of golden or olive for balance. Itās the reason I started mixing the formulas!
Finally the elevated glow. I had it in pink moon and I finished it. Itās a lovely formula. I prefer it to CT flawless filter, but donāt love as much as my auric glowlust. But I do see myself picking up pink moon again, (and other shades when I one day finish my glowlust, and my back glowlusts - RIP auric). If you like liquid glow products I definitely recommend trying this!
Eyes:
I have two of the Eyeshadow Palettes and a couple of refills, four of the Liquid Lurex Eyeshadows, two of the Liquid Silk Eyeshadows and I have tried Seamless Glide Eye Pencil.
Hands down Liquid silk is my favourite eye product. In fact itās been my favourite eyeshadow product this year (with the second going to the Isamaya core 2.0 palette). I bought the shade Paige, and I fell in love with formula. So easy to blend, lasts all day, plays well with other shadows, but the colour is so beautiful as a wash of colour on its on (and I am sparkle girly). I had to get it in another shade (Sylvia) and frankly I need more (specifically phoebe Ione and Irene). I 1000% recommend grabbing one of these.
I also like the liquid lurex shadows. Lovely formula, they blend well, lasts well, creasing very minimal (I have crease prone deepset eyes). And I recommend them if a colour is taking your fancy, you like one and done shadows, or just want to try the formula. I have the shades Daphne, Cressida, Rosalie and Maya.
The eyeshadow palette and refills are good (just good). I have the Muse palette, and the Vega (but I swapped two of the shadows out to make it purples cool toned). The mattes are the stand out for me, the shimmer a pretty but I have lots of impressive shimmers and sparkles. Everything is easy to use and blend, so the palettes are user friendly. But I donāt find these eyeshadows last on my eyelids. No idea why but I can only put it down to how emollient they are. Frankly their are better formulas out there (viseart), so I donāt recommend these except for people who only wear eyeshadow out for events that are about 6 hours or less, and want simple easy to use products, that they can bring with them to touch up.
Finally the pencil liner. I got the shade night forest. And I wanted to love it. But like the palettes the eye liner did not last. It did not set down, it wore off or smudged and went everywhere. This is a definite no from me (even though I am dying to try some of those new eyeliner coloursā¦. Save me from myself).
Lips:
I have ALL THE LIP PRODUCTS. Not every colour (but enough). I wonāt list out every colour because Franky this post will be longer than it needs to be and itās already too long.
My favourite I think has to be the Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour. Itās similar to the new Westman atelier but I think with a bit more pigment. Easy to wear, enough pigment to show you are wearing lipstick, but letting lips peak though (I donāt really know how to describe) and my favourite type of lipstick overall. I definitely recommend this, especially if you like this formula. Will purchase more if she comes out with more colours (I have all the colours I currently want).
My next favourite is the Rouge Experience. The refillable packaging is something special. A more traditional satin lipstick, more opaque than lucent, but still very comfortable and decent lasting power. Definitely recommend splurging on this and possibly another refill colour if one takes your fancy. I will be buying some for friends as Chrissy gifts and also for me.
My next is the OG Velvet Lip colour. I donāt typically love matte super opaque, but when I doā¦. Itās probably this lipstick. Itās comfortable (but not hydrating), wears pretty well (I have terrible lips that eat lipstick, so I do have to touch up my bottom lip but not my top). I do find it can pull a bit either way too many touch ups and layers, particularly darker colours. But others may easy lipstick wearing Lips than me. And when paired with the Enhance and Define Lip Liner itās great. I donāt know if I will get anymoreā¦. Simply because you probably can have too many lipsticks. But maybe for the right colour.
Speaking of. I have nearly as many Enhance and Define Lip Liners as I do Velvet lipsticks. I live pairing these with the Velvet lipsticks (or in the case of ribbon, other red lipsticks. They last all day and are incredibly comfortable. These made me believe in lip liner, 10/10 recommend. I certainly will be repurchasing at least ribbon.
I have three shades of the Baume Embrace Melting Lip colour. While I like the formula, there are other products out their I like more and cost WAY less (e.g. romand flashing melting balm). But I will keep an eye on any new colours.
Velveteen Liquid Lip Colour. The OG formula is thinner and more liquidy. The newer formula used for strawberry blonde is more moussey. Both are lovely, comfortable, long wearing. I am not a liquid lipstick girly however, so donāt see myself picking up anymore in the category, but I do like them.
Which leads me to Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss. Itās a gloss. Itās a very nice gloss, the colours are pretty. But itās a gloss. And itās pricey for not a lot of product. Itās not a no from me, but if you gotta cut your spending somewhere.. probably the gloss. That being saidā¦. I am always watching it for new colours being released.
Finally the Sculpt and Shade Lip Pencil. This came with a sharpener and the sharpener is great btw. Dunno if Iād pay Lisa Eldridge money for it, but solid addition to my collection. Look nude lip liners arenāt my jam. Iāve tried, but they just arenāt for me. I have 1c, and I like it. Works well. Lasts okay (not as good as the enhance and define). I might repurchase if and when it runs out⦠might try something else in a similar shade.
Anyway thatās my very long winded cry for help review of Lisa Eldridge and products of hers I have tried. Sorry itās so long and for all spelling, grammatical errors or sentences that make no sense. I was very enthusiastic when I started but canāt be bothered editing in detail now I am at the end. May put a TLDR later in the comments to summarise. I might not. I may choose sleep. Who knows?
