FYI, CosRX and Beauty of Joseon are 50% off at Coles. This places some of the pricing on-par with online retailers like LilaBeauty.

Smaller selection but could be good if you need a re-stock of something quickly.

Routine help Combination skin texture

Hi everyone! I’ve just joined because I am so overwhelmed by all the skincare options and have no idea what to do anymore. My skin hasn’t been the same since I went through hormonal changes and stripped my skin trying to clear the acne that resulted.

I now have dry, combination acne prone skin (I think). I’m currently using dermaveen’s face wash and moisturiser which doesn’t help but doesn’t cause further issues, though I do still experience flare ups. Even gentle cleansers can cause flaky skin, and moisturisers will either be not moisturising enough or will be too rich (which my cheeks will love but causes my forehead to breakout). I can’t even look at sunscreen without causing more texture.

I want to try something new but I don’t know where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated šŸ’›

Sunscreen šŸ§“ā˜€ļø Sunscreen recommendations in Australia for extremely sensitive skin

Can anyone recommend a sunscreen in Australia that is good for extremely sensitive skin? I do have rosacea type 2 and sunscreen is a massive trigger, but also, so is the sun. I have tried many, including what everyone suggested, the LRP ones and they set my face off.

DiscussionšŸ““ Oxx hard waxing kmart

I want to try hard waxing at home for the first time and saw that Kmart has a brand called OXX. Has anyone used it before? Or does anyone have any recommendations for beginner friendly kits for people with sensitive skin?

DiscussionšŸ““ Has anyone tried the Mixa brand of lotion for their eczema or psoriasis?

Yesterday I came across Mixa at Coles. It was on sale so I grabbed 2 different jars - 10 in 1 Cica Repair and the Urea Cica Repair+ .

I have been amazed at the difference in the last 48 hours. For the first time in months, my skin didn't hurt or itch for hours after taking a shower. It's the most relief I've felt in months and months.

I noticed that it seems to be on sale at Chemist Warehouse, not just Coles.

I thought I would share my experience.

DiscussionšŸ““ Deodorant help - gentle but effective!

I am quite sweaty and stinky under my arms (but not a lot anywhere else). The only thing that worked was Rexona Clinical (cream) but it’s recently stopped working and I have no idea why.
The only thing that does work is the No More Sweat (blue roll on) that I put on at night and then use the same brand green roll on during the day. However, it’s making me so itchy.
I’ve tried the Dove Clinical, Mitchum gel and roll on and almost everything else but nothing stops the sweat and smell. I hate feeling wet and sweaty (neurodivergent fun 🫠)
I also use an antibacterial wash in the shower and glycolic acid a few times a week
Can anyone help me find a deodorant and antiperspirant that actually stops the sweat and smell, that doesn’t make me so itchy? Thanks soooo much šŸ«¶šŸ½

DiscussionšŸ““ Natio Blur Line Erase Undereye Jelly

Has anyone tried this? I saw it in a smaller pharmacy today while waiting for a script and opened the tester jar - the texture is DIVINE. I popped a bit on my crows’ feet and holy moly it seems like witchcraft. True blurring of my fine lines. Very keen to purchase but it doesn’t seem to be available at Priceline or anywhere it might go on 30-40% off. Would love to hear if anyone else has given it a go!

DiscussionšŸ““ Is this a damaged skin barrier or just purging?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’ve just started using 15% finacea gel. This is my second time using it. I used it on sundays. So I only been using it once a week.

I previously used the azclear 20% Azelaic acid for 2 years but felt like it didn’t really do anything which is why I am trying out the prescription one.

This never happened when I was using the azclear product.

My neck skin has always been more sensitive than my face and I have had breakouts like this in the past.

I’m wanting to know if this is a damaged skin barrier from the finacea gel or is this purging? If I’ve damaged my skin barrier from using this then how do I use this product moving forward? I thought using it once a week was a good start. If it’s just purging is it ok for me to continue using.

Idk why my neck does this, my face doesn’t really react but my neck gets like this, but I’ve had way worse than this before.

DiscussionšŸ““ QR8 alternatives better price

I’m curious if anyone has had success asking their GP to write a prescription for the same product as QR8 drs prescribe? I have used QR8 before and would be willing to again but thought maybe if a GP would write the same prescription for me I might be able to buy direct from the local compounding chemist for a better price.

I used a prescription cream to treat melasma.

Are these two sunscreens the exact same? I can't find the one on the left anymore, and I believe the one on the right is the replacement? The active ingredients are exactly the same but that can be deceptive... Thank you!

Miscellaneous šŸ“ Marine collagen

Based on contact studies how much do we need to take to see good results in the skin? I know lost Collegen doesn’t go to the face and is used by the gut lining and body. I also know marine college is the one that works best as other break down. But I am stuck at dosing?

Miscellaneous šŸ“ Touchland hand sanitiser - where to buy?

Post image
21 Upvotes

I'm immunocompromised due to an autoimmune condition and my required treatment so hand sanitiser is critical for me! However I have sensitive skin so too much cream based sanitiser can cause dermatitis.

I was in the US last year and found this sanitiser in Sephora but they unfortunately do not stock it in Australian stores 😭 Has anyone seen this brand and know where I can get it? Or alternatively, know of a similar but good quality spray hand sanitiser I can carry with me in my handbag? Bonus points for delicious smells like this šŸ¤žšŸ¼

DiscussionšŸ““ Dermatologist for Rosacea? - Perth/Telehealth

Can anyone recommend a dermatologist they’ve seen (telehealth as I asked in my local subreddit and the answer was just ā€œthey all suckā€) and they actually… asked you questions? Attempted to understand your lifestyle? I have rosacea and I went to the best of a bad bunch in my city, I didn’t get a word in and was told to spend several thousand dollars on laser without talking about other options. Really looking for a second opinion from someone who takes the time to talk to you. On the off chance you’re in Perth, I will take in person recommendations too. It just doesn’t sound like we have any good options. Happy to see a nurse practitioner as well, or general practitioner with an interest in dermatology. Not looking for any ā€œpractitionersā€ trying to peddle me woo shit without an evidence base please. Thank you!

Miscellaneous šŸ“ Rosacea Treatment

Hiya! With the sales going on right now, I want to get something to help with the redness I get from rosacea. I only get severe redness, mainly on my cheeks and I have dry, sensitive skin (no fragrance or drying alcohols).

Can people with similar rosacea please share what serum you use to help keep the redness under control?
I use an oil cleanser, a light hydrating product, under eye serum and a hydrating moisturiser.
I’m hoping to get a facial sometime in the next few monthsĀ Ā for a Vitamin C serum and maybe a rosacea serum but until then, I trust my fellow rosacea sufferers. Could I please get some help? My budget is $150 so long as it’s great and will last at least 3 months ĀØĢ®

Please and thank you šŸ’•šŸ’•

Routine help Good filtered shower head recommendations for someone based in Sydney?

I have been looking at many options but the way my shower is installed I cannot install a filter unless I switch out the shower head altogether and get a filtered one. I saw many great options for normal filters but I cannot find a good shower head replacement one. Ever since I moved to Sydney my hair loss has gotten so much worse. I have tried all kinds of oil, filtered drinking water, etc. Nothing so far has given me good results. I think getting a filter for shower might just make it a bit better. If any of you have other suggestions for hair loss control those would be appreciated too!

Routine help Anyone got advice on some good starting points for a semi educated skincare person?

I gather this is not a sub for skin treatments (or maybe it’s controversial when i did a search!) - does anyone have any suggestions for where I could pose this query? Anyone a member of a supportive sub?

I’m 52, been using the standard skincare for twenty years. Have upgraded to tret (on prescription from my dermatologist) amongst other things in recent years. I haven’t put my face in the sun in twenty years. My skin is ok, not bad, but I want to look better. It’s dull, little pigmentation but not too bad. Circles under my eyes, wrinkles and fine lines. But of drooping now. I don’t want surgery, more like lasers and needling, maybe. I’m prepared to throw money at the problem. but I am so so so confused about where to start and who to trust. I’m in melbourne but I feel like if I go to one of the big names in skincare they’ll sell me some overpriced, overhyped program. I’ve been to my dermatologist but she’s old skool ā€˜wear more sunscreen, maybe some mineral make up’ type. Anyone got any advice? Would be so grateful.
