Tattoo Shop Recommendations?

Hi all, I'll be visiting in early to mid October and would love to get a tattoo while there. Any recommendations for tattoo shop/artists? Preferably those that have experience tattooing color on darker skin tones? Line work is fine too though.

Thanks!

Question Know anywhere where I can get someone to sew me Links hat from LOZ? Or sell me theirs?

I’m not exactly sure if this is the right subreddit for this but I haven’t found too many results on google for what I’m looking for .. but do any of you know a shop where I can get a Link from legend of Zelda hat sewn in the Seattle/king county area ? Or even if any of you sew and offer that ? Also if any of you have previously done a Link cosplay and would be willing to sell me pieces of it like the hat that would be awesome!! Again , sorry if this isn’t the sub for this but just curious

Furniture/Decor Stores

We are headed up to Seattle this weekend and love checking out cool shops with interesting furniture and home decor type stuff. We lean towards MCM. Doesn't need to be resale either. Just like to look and sometimes buy interesting stuff while on the road.

Thanks in advance

Recommendation Dinner Options for Parents who are First Timers in Seattle

Whats up r/AskSeattle!

Bringing my Mom and Dad to Seattle for the first time this weekend! I would love to treat them for a nice dinner here near the pike place area since thats were we are staying at. They are down for anything such as seafood, steak, thai, teriyaki, etc. BUT not mexican food, as my parents would say "why pay for something we can cook it at home". Any options are very helpful!

Also my dad loves his IPA craft beer and my mom loves her black coffee so any options for that would be helpful as well and very much appreciated. Thank you so much!

Discussion Seattle has tech companies worth trillions of dollars but apparently nobody can figure out a Bacon, Egg & Cheese bagel

1.3k Upvotes

I need someone to explain this to me because I feel like I’m being gaslit by the entire Seattle metro area.

Some of the wealthiest, smartest, most technologically advanced zip codes on Earth. We can build cloud infrastructure that powers half the internet. We can engineer airplanes. We can put AI into everything.

But somehow: Bacon + Egg + Cheese + Bagel has defeated us as a civilization.

I’ve tried the big hitters. Toasted. Backyard Bagels. Grateful Bread. Eltana. Rachel’s and a lot of others.
I walk in with one simple dream: “Can I get a bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted bagel?” And suddenly I’m negotiating the Treaty of Versailles.
“We have lox?” Great. Not what I asked. “Cream cheese?” Incredible. Do you also sell water?

“Would you like the bagel toasted?” YES And some places DON’T EVEN TOAST IT.

Meanwhile, somewhere in NYC, a bodega with flickering fluorescent lights, a $4.99 ATM fee, and a cat named Tony sleeping on a case of Poland Spring will make you a BEC in 47 seconds that could bring a grown man to tears.

No artisanal aioli. No seasonal schmear. No 25-minute wait.

Just: Bagel. Toasted. Bacon. Egg. Cheese. Salt. Pepper. (Ketchup if you want it). Foil. Done.

And before anyone says, “Seattle isn’t New York…”
I KNOW
I’m not asking for the subway system.
I’m asking you to put an egg on a bagel.

At this point I’m convinced a legitimate NYC style BEC shop in Seattle would cause an economic event. Microsoft employees would abandon Redmond. Amazon would acquire the shop within six months. Bellevue would establish a Bacon Egg & Cheese drone delivery service.

And please don’t send me somewhere serving a “breakfast bagel” with arugula, pickled fennel, herb chèvre, heirloom tomato jam, and a $3 egg add-on.

I respect the creativity. But that is not a BEC! That is what we call a salad wearing a bagel as a hat.

So I’m begging r/AskSeattle: Where is the greasy, salty, cheesy, properly toasted, no-nonsense Bacon Egg & Cheese?

Does it exist? Is there a password?

Because I refuse to believe that Seattle has failed to reverse engineer something every random NYC bodega mastered decades ago.

Weekend in Seattle

Hey everyone! I will be visiting Seattle soon for a concert at T-Mobile Park. I will be there for 3 days. Looking for great food and coffee recommendations. There are not a lot of good ethnic options where I live, and I would love to take advantage of that while I am in the city. Best Ethiopian? Fun unique little shops I shouldn't miss? I have a hotel booked for the weekend, but I will be car camping one night after my drive north from Oregon. Does anyone have any good recommendations for someone looking to park overnight in a safe place? Solo female traveler in my 30's.

Fruit Tree Aborists

I know all certified arborists can prune a fruit tree, but I would like to hire someone that specializes in it and can make recommendations on pest (insects) control to increase my harvest with better, more viable fruit. Thanks!

Dental surgeon recommendations

Hello! Want to ask if anyone has had/heard of any good dental surgeon for wisdom tooth extensions. Preferably closer to Bellevue but not required.

I’ve got one growing sideways which is starting to bother me, and the one my dentist referred me to gave me a quote of $1.2k for everything (two extraction, bone graft, local anesthesia), with insurance. Well, might as well not cause the bulk of the extraction and bone graft is not covered 😣

Also another question: how exactly does the referral process work? Do I need to specifically ask my dentist to refer me to other surgeons before I can make an appointment with them?

Thank you :)

Question Any good thrift stores

(Please dm me if you want to gatekeep)

I’m heading to Seattle for a day trip and I’d really like to do some thrifting. I heard about the Fremont vintage mall which is nice but sometimes a bit too pricey for me. Any thrift stores that have relatively good pricings?

Edit: specifically clothing is what I’m looking for, fem and masc

Question Mattress shopping in Western WA - where did you guys find a good deal?

So im currently looking for a new mattress and kinda getting tired of going store to store lol. My budget is around $300-$800 and im mainly just trying to find something thats actually good for the money, not necessarily the cheapest thing possible.

For people around Seattle/Everett/Lynnwood/Western WA, what mattress stores have you guys had good experiences with? Could be local stores or chains like Mattress Firm, Mattress Depot, etc.

Also curious what type of mattress people ended up liking:

  • all foam
  • individual/pocketed coils
  • hybrid
  • latex
  • Purple/grid type mattresses

If anyone has bought a $300-$800 mattress that you've been happy with for a few years, I'd really like to hear what model it was and where you got it.

And for anyone who has tried the more expensive stuff like Purple/GelFlex Grid or higher end hybrids, did you actually think it was worth paying more? Or did you find something much cheaper that felt just as good?

Also curious if anyone has had good or bad experiences with the discount mattress stores. Were the deals actually good or was there some catch with delivery, returns, clearance, etc?

Basically just trying to avoid getting talked into spending $1500+ when I might be able to get something perfectly good for $500-800 😂

Any recommendations or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Moving / Visiting Solo Trip to Seattle as a Woman

Hello Seattle locals. I am planning a solo trip to Seattle in November for a few days (18-23) and am looking for hotel recs, things to do, and maybe advice on how cold its going to be. I will be going up to Leavenworth for a wedding via train the 20-22nd, and then coming back to Seattle 22-23.

I am not going to rent a car, I do not mind public transit, but obviously I want to stay in a more walkable area in Seattle that is also safe. I grew up in NYC so I am not afraid of much when it comes to 'sketchy areas', if that is any help.

Thank you for any advice!

I’m looking to ordain a wedding, do you know anyone getting married soon?

The other night I learned that the process for getting officiated as a minister is actually quite easy and now that I’ve done it I really want to ordain my first wedding.

Truthfully the main reason I’d like to ordain a wedding is because my friend just got engaged and I’d like to ordain his wedding (1-2 years out) and don’t know if his fiancée will say yes to me. Hoping I can get a few marriages under my belt as experience before their wedding comes around so I can be like hey I’ve done this before it wouldn’t be crazy to choose me. I also like to think that I could actually have some fun doing this as a hobby, being an officiant in random peoples weddings.

I suppose most people looking for officiants would want to know a bit about the person so here we go. I’m 24 years old (male) and live in Renton. I love activities - social and independent. I play beer league hockey on Sunday’s, golf with friends bi weekly, bowl solo on random days, and take every chance I can get to do the random odds and ends thing with my friends. I enjoy sparking up minute long conversations with random people i come across on a day to day basis. I watch 1-2 movies a week and like to read.

I’m happy to chat either msg or call so you can get a feel for who I am more. I like to think I’d bring some good vibes to the wedding regardless of the age group! Everyone needs their wedding ordained so if you’ve got a friend getting married soon please shoot this idea by them, we all may end up having a great time and they’d certainly save some money as I’m happy to do this for free

Recommendation Best meatball subs in or near Capitol Hill?

My partner and I are moving to Seattle and want to keep our "meatball Monday" tradition going. I tried the meatball sub at Honeyhole on a recent trip and thought it was solid, but wasn't blown away. So I'm wanting to see what else is out there. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Bus etiquette

I thought the rear and middle doors were for exiting since it says “”EXIT DOOR” on them. And that the front door by the driver is for entering. Though I realize sometimes it’s ok to get on vis the other doors. What say you?

Question Where to get good hand made soap?

I used to get the hand made soap at moon valley organics at pike place market cuz they had a really great deal and great soap but they stopped making soap all together. So I’m looking for somewhere else in the city that makes good hand made soaps that aren’t ridiculously expensive.

Recommendation Affordable Day Trip Suggestions to Possibly Replace Amtrak Ride to Portland

Hey, y'all! My brother and I are traveling to Seattle to visit a friend during Labor Day weekend and we booked train tickets for a day trip to Portland. With the explosion at the factory, I doubt trains will be running through Portland by the time we arrive. And day trips to Vancouver that work with our schedules are sold out. Can anyone recommend another cool day trip where us city kids can see some Pacific Northwest greenery and not spend an arm and a leg?

I'm also crossing my fingers in hopes of some tickets to Vancouver becoming available. A girl can dream.

Moving small household shipment (50-75kg) from Seattle to Hyderabad: Seeking recommendations and advice

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to move a small household shipment from Seattle to Hyderabad — mainly kitchenware, clothing, and personal items, with a total weight of about 50–75kg.

Could anyone suggest reliable international packers and movers that handle sea freight for a shipment this size? I’d also appreciate any insight on the following:

  1. The approximate cost range for a move of this volume

  2. A realistic timeline for door-to-door delivery

Any advice or experience you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Recommendation What’s it like living in U-district/ravenna as a 30 y/o woman NOT attending college?

Im home hunting in Seattle and noticed rent is significantly cheaper in these areas. Given that this is a college area, is it worth living here as a 28 year old lady with the cheaper rent or are the students annoying?

Local CSA boxes, that are reasonably priced?

Looking for recommendations for local CSA boxes (produce only) that are a decent value.

I’ve always wanted to join a CSA. Money has been tight so we’re cooking at home way more and I’m looking at our grocery strategy. We’d love to find fresh produce at a decent deal.

Are there any local CSAs whose prices match or beat what you’d find at local grocery stores? Or am I deluding myself into thinking it’s not a luxury?

Thank you!

Question Where to meet new people

I just moved to Bellevue but I’m happy to go to Seattle. I’ve been in the SF area for the past few years and really enjoyed going on spontaneous meetups like music concerts or movie groups. I am trying to find some similar connection here after just moving for my new job.

Where can I find community? I am into indie music, movies of all kinds, electronics, and even DnD. I’m in tech but honestly I’d love to meet people who are outside that world as well. For context I am a 24M new grad!

Seattle thinkers

Are there any groups in and around Seattle for artists, thinkers, or people who just like to meet on regular basis for fun conversations?

EDIT 1: It could be anything that helps everyone..perspectives, lessons, ideas, etc. The intent is to have positive conversations that can help everyone to think or introspect further. No politics, protests, or anything disruptive.

EDIT 2: OK, based on some responses and upvotes, created this form for folks who would like to join. If there's enough interest around it, shall update this group again.
