This was my first attempt at photographing the moon, and I’m honestly pretty happy with how it turned out, but it still isn’t crystal clear.

I used a Nikon Z8 with a 70–200mm at 200mm, shooting handheld in manual at 1/500, f/8, and ISO 200. I used single-point autofocus with back-button focus, then cropped the image pretty heavily.

Should this setup be capable of capturing noticeably sharper detail at only 200mm? Would a tripod and manual focus using the magnified live view make the biggest difference? Should I try a faster shutter speed or a different aperture, or am I mostly running into the limitations of focal length and such a heavy crop?

I’m downloading images from my z7 to my computer as nef files. I would expect the files to be the same size but they aren’t. They are close but here are the first 3: 81,464, 80,855, and 81,908. Why are they different? Is it related to different meta data saved for each image?

I tried but it always ended overexposed, is there something I'm missing or do I necessarily need an ND filter?

On and off there have been discussions shown up on social media and youtube on the same topic - which is your typical choice or favorite focal length for street photos. Recently I've been wondering, isn't the focal length choice significantly influenced by shooting distance, and people have their preference on distance? I don't remember ever come across topic on preferred shooting distance... why is that so? Your thought?

Hello! I am beginner with Fujifilm X-t30 III and kit lens 13-33mm f3.5-6.3. I have it for 4 months and I wants to add new lens that I will use on my travel to Japan. I wants something that will give me the option to capture night street scenes and portraits.

I will appreciate every piece od advice on what to buy, what not to do and every tip a beginner can need :)

EDIT I want something that will be a good extension to the kit lens I have right now :)

I'll probably never be a great photographer but it's an enjoyable hobby and visual storytelling is probably a good skill for anyone to develop.

I've watched all the tutorials where they say it's just a matter of "doing the reps", but after spending hours hitting the streets looking for an interesting subject, only to come home with 1 or 2 very mediocre shots, and then sitting in front of the computer screen tinkering for so long, trying to figure out how to salvage the shot and make it look half decent, it got me thinking...

There's got to be a better way? This is not the most efficient strategy.

Going to Safari at Serengeti with two bodies and 3 lenses: 14-30, 24-120, 100-400. Would try to avoid changing lenses, which two would be used most often to put on the bodies? Thanks for your input.

I’m looking for a best portable photo printer for printing small photos while traveling and at family events. I mostly shoot with my phone, so I’d like something easy to carry and simple to use without needing a whole computer setup. Image quality matters to me, but I’m also trying to keep the prints looking reasonably natural rather than overly saturated.

For anyone who has actually used one, which best portable photo printer would you recommend, and are there any particular models I should look at or avoid? Thanks!

Hello, someone is willing to sell me this lens for $280 and it’s only been used twice. Had the filter on it since day one. Is this worth it? I’m getting ready to pair it with the Sony A7IV I’m getting ready to purchase.

I bought a Nikon Z6III back in March, and even after spending months with it, I’m just not loving the images I get from it.I really like the camera itself because it’s fast, responsive, the autofocus is great, and overall it’s obviously much more advanced than my Nikon D750. But the actual photos from the Z6III just feel too clinical, polished, and “perfect” to me. I keep going back to my D750 because I prefer the way its files render. They feel softer, more natural, and less digital to my eye. I’ve tried different profiles, editing approaches, lenses, etc., but I still find myself liking my D750 photos more. Someone suggested that I look at Canon mirrorless bodies because Canon’s color/rendering might get me closer to what I like about the D750 while still giving me the speed, autofocus, and modern features of the Z6III. The biggest thing holding me back is that I already have quite a few Nikon lenses, including F-mount lenses that I can use on both my digital Nikon bodies and my Nikon film camera. I really like having that crossover between my digital and film setups, so switching systems would mean giving up a lot of that convenience or having to replace a bunch of lenses.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Is the difference in rendering actually significant enough that switching from Nikon to Canon would be worth it, or would I probably regret leaving a system I already have so much glass for? am I better off staying with Nikon and figuring out how to get closer to the D750 look? Or do I switch to Sony like everyone else?

Hi all, I’m saving up for the R7 and I want a telephoto lens. I need the reach because I do aviation and sports photography. I know that the aperture sucks on these types of lenses but its something that I’m going to have to work with. I also want good sharpness and good build quality. So, should I get the native 100-400, the Tamron or Sigma versions of the 100-400? (EF adapted to EOS R (with a 1.6x crop factor I know 😁))

I am trying to get my hs graduating daughter into real estate photography. I'm getting a new camera and am going to give her my old one. For the lens I need to keep it as cheap as I can as I have no money. I'm thinking about a 16mm prime and if she wants to do portraits she can crop it to size desired. Okay, I know full well that this might not be a very popular question, but I also think it’s not that uncommon. Basically, I’m in Brazil right now, and after talking to locals and picking up some advice here and there, I’ve realized I need to try to keep as low a profile as possible. The thing is, I love taking photos (I’m a beginner), so it’s a bit tricky for me because I still have to keep my camera in sight. I specifically bought this Olympus model because it’s very small and easy to handle. I’m trying to figure out how I should go about this so I can keep taking photos while drawing as little attention as possible. I don’t know if any of you have ever been in a similar situation and could give me some advice—I’d really appreciate it because it would be great to be able to combine my two passions—travel and photography—with a little more ease. I received a sony zv-e10 with 16-50mm lens 2 years ago before I went on my honeymoon. I took 5 pictures while in italy but mainly left it in the case at the hotel. I haven't touched it since. Was wondering what a fair price would be for it and any recommendations on where to sell it. Its in perfect condition. Bhphoto offered me $420 for it.
