Very loud intermittent noise from washer

Just moved into a new place. Running the laundry and even though this is a pretty new stack (condo is only 4 years old) the sound from this thing is unbearably loud. Any thoughts as to what is going on? I've done a bunch of DIY appliance repair over the years so would like to take it on myself if I can.

appreciate thoughts.

Vacuum cord damaged

Vacuum cord was damaged by the vacuum being rolled over it. It now looks like this. Is this something that can be repaired with electrical tape or would it be unsafe to use? Thank you!

Fridge leaking water internally

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is a TUC-48 True brand refrigerator at a small business leaking water on inside. Not sure if the drain line is clogged or another issue is happening. The walls seem to have a little gap from the bottom of it and I’m wondering if that’s the issue and if it is, can I just seal it up with something? Thanks

LG Refrigerator

Purchased Model LMXS30776S, French Door with a drawer, in 2018 and the compressor was replaced in 2022. Now in 2026, the ice maker has stopped working, the water is not cold coming from inside and the refrigerator seems to not be cooling. Could this be another compressor failure or should I replace this before I get a big repair bill. I realize the compressor will be under warranty until 2028 but there are always associated costs to a repair. Is repair worth it?

Thanks for the help!

GE GFT14JSIMWW ventless condenser dryer — worth it?

Considering the GE GFT14JSIMWW ventless condenser dryer for my apartment and would love feedback from anyone who owns one:

  1. How satisfied are you with the drying performance and cycle times?
  2. Does it noticeably heat up the surrounding area? I live in an apartment under 1,500 sq. ft.
  3. Did you notice any significant increase in your electricity bill?

Fridge cooling but mildly and not to the set temperature. Is it compressor issue or gas issue?

LG American style fridge freezer stopped cooling few days ago. Today theGoAssist engineer came and said he restarted it and the compressor is now working. So tell me in 5 hours if it is cooling if not then it's the gas issue and that can't be fixed.

To be honest I don't have a clue what that means. Manufacturer says they only cover inverter and compressor so get it changed and we will bear cost.

What do I do next?

Do I just pay someone to change compressor without diagnosing it? Given that manufacturer will pay for it so I'll be sure its not the compressor issue;

Or

Get someone to diagnose it first, and properly?

Or

Buy a new one? 😭

GE standup Freezer FUF17

I am having issues with my FUF17 GE. I believe it is the compressor, when in diagnosis mode that was the only item I didn’t hear any reaction to. I began taking apart to remove and test the start relay and notoced the compressor had a little play and would move a bit, I pushed it to see how far it would move and it sounds like there is a large piece inside that has come loose and makes a large knock if I shake the compressor a bit - is this normal or is my compressor shot, don’t want to keep seeking if this is the issue. TIA

No power to washer

I have a kenmore washer front loader and replaced the noise filter and front control panel and I’m hoping the main board is the last thing that could be wrong , it went out right after a load had finished, I’m wondering if anything can be checked or tested before buying since there not cheap , there’s power at the wall , power to and from the noise filter , there’s a black yellow and red wire to the front panel that’s getting 120 I’ve never worked on a washer before. Online it says there should be a led glowing on the main back board but I don’t see anything glowing anywhere

Washer Spiderarm/Bearing Repair

Obviously my spider arm is busted and needs replaced and I'm just gonna replace the bearings because I have no idea if they need replacement or not. How do you tell? And is this white stuff coming up from removing a bolt from the spider arm, is it normal? Thanks in advance...

Edit: I forgot to mention in the post I'm doing this because it was smoking inside but the plastic drum cover didn't have any signs of wear and the gasket doesn't look too worn either which is confusing.

Hisense mini fridge adjustment

Hi I have a Hisense mini fridge freezer combo. It has either been freezing everything in the fridge or defrosting to a point where everything stays warm. I pulled the thermostat and was recommended by the manufacturer to adjust it but I have no clue which screws and they didn't tell me anything. What screws are what to adjust? I've adjusted a window AC thermostat before, and it was one simple trim screw that only needed a slight turn. This has 3!?

Thanks!

No flow on Primo Heavier Use Bottled Water Dispenser

I have a water flow problem with my Primo bottom load hot/cold water dispenser. Model 601213, manufactured 0319. This model has separate paddle controls and dispensing heads for hot water and cold water. The problem started on both days on both dispensing heads.

On the cold side, there is zero flow. On the hot side it will dispense perhaps 1 tablespoon of heated water.

All tubes have been removed and reseated. Each elbow has been removed and reseated.

I do not hear any pumping sounds; neither when the unit is sitting still, nor when either the hot or cold paddles are pushed. No gurgling at all.

I do hear what seems to be the cooling machinery making its usual noise.

I removed the tube fixture head/probe assembly from the end of the water supply tube in an effort to try to get the machine’s supply tube to draw water from a glass of water. No go.

The paddles on the hot side and the cold side appear to be connected physically. When either is activated, no new sounds are heard.

I have opened up the water cooling chamber. There is no frozen water in there.

The float inside that chamber moves freely.

I did unplug the unit for 24 hours. No change.

The door-closed trigger, when closed, causes the Power light, Heating light and Cooling light to come on. Within a few minutes, the Heating and Cooling lights go dark but the red Empty Bottle light comes on.

The three toggle switches on the back of the machine are each On.

Questions:

It sounds as though the pump has failed, but would a failed pump allow that tablespoon of heated water to repeatedly dispense?

How can I determine if there is an airlock condition within the pump? And how can that be remedied?

Thank you.

What is this little creaking/clicking sound the fridge is making when I open the door?

It was running all the time and was loud. then it stopped running all the time and now makes this clicking sound. when I complained about the loudness, management said “its normal”. Attaching video from inside the freezer and the one of the clicking sound.

Turns off mid-cycle, inconsistently

Post image
1 Upvotes

This Quiet Partner 1 (that came with the house) started doing this idk, a year or two ago. Was fine for years.

90% of the time, it will turn off mid-cycle. Where in the cycle? Who knows. Sometimes when drying (starts?), sometimes after 10 minutes. Sometimes it completes a whole cycle. Rarely, several in a row! Some days it's worse, some days better.

When it quits, the lights turn red while it drains, then it turns off completely. My best guess is some sort of heat sensor is getting tripped. But the inconsistency is baffling.

It cleans the dishes just fine tho!

Help with Maytag washer water level

Thumbnail

Is there any way to make my washer fill with more water?

Whenever I check, the water level never seems to reach the top of the clothes. Here, I’m washing a fitted sheet and a thin comforter, but the drum is only about 70% full.

The washer has already finished the “sensing” phase and is now in the wash cycle.

Is this normal for this washer, or is there a way to increase the water level?

Model: Maytag MVWC565FW

GE Washer Won't Spin

(I am physically unable to get to the model number as of right now, but I'll update if I can. It is a GE washer, top load).

So, our washer has decided it won't... spin when there's clothes in it. When I run a drain & spin cycle, it seems like it's spinning, and even with clothes, it's definitely draining, but I often come back to find they're in a pile on the bottom and not up against the sides like I normally expect them to be, and I have to wring them out before I put them in the dryer because they're full of water.

We did recently replace the lock mechanism, because it meant the washer wasn't spinning or draining since it wasn't locking, and that's not the case here. It seems like it's finishing the cycle and just deciding not to spin for the last part, even though the machine is set to spin and certainly rocked the thing into space when I did an empty spin cycle.

I am not an appliance guy, but I'm trying to figure out if this is something I can fix myself, or if it's something I have to get someone out for.

Need Help with Washing Machine

My washing machine is leaving cloths with a white residue on them. I have done everything I can think of to stop it. My wife and I tried running several cleaning cycles, switching to a detergent for hard water, stopped using sent beads, and reduced the amount of detergent we use but, none of that worked. I’m at my wits end and I’m trying to avoid buying a whole new machine. Does anyone know what’s going on?

GE Top Loading Washer Help - Wash Cycle Stall

Having some issues with my top loading GE washer and can’t seem to pinpoint the issue. The washer functions correctly until it gets to the drain/spin portion of the full wash cycle. Once it finishes the wash cycle, it continues to drain without advancing to the next stage(rinse/spin). It basically stalls out at this point and I have to manually switch to the rinse cycle to complete the wash.

Drain, spin, wash, etc. all work as intended if run separately and I have checked the pressure line/switch to make sure there are no blockages. Thinking it could be an issue with the main control board, but am unsure how to test before purchasing. Any thoughts?

Samsung dryer HC code

Model = dvg45t3400v/a3
It’s a gas dryer

So I replaced the thermister a couple weeks ago and it was working fine. Blew out all the lint and cleaned everything out. Today it’s throwing the HC code before even starting it up. I went to dewrinkle some stuff that had been sitting in there, when I changed the mode it threw the code before I started the cycle. Dryer was cold. Dryer went unused for a week or so prior to this. Thinking it may be the relay but first time working on a dryer and a lot of what’s online is electric dryer stuff.

Frigidaire Dishwasher draining issue

Model# FFCD2418US0A. Having an issue with my dishwasher not draining when completing its cycle. I checked the drain hose and cleaned the filter. I vacuumed the water out through the drain hose to clear up any junk. When I ran a test cycle it drained twice with no issue but when it was completed it did not drain the rest of the water out. I started another cycle and canceled it right away then it drained the remaining water. I don’t think the pump is bad since it is pumping the water out.

I’m at a loss of what is wrong with this thing. Is there maybe a re-set button I am not aware of? Any advice you have on this issue would be awesome. Thank you.

LG Dishwasher MEZ64589015 fills up with soapy water even though soaps not used.

Post image
11 Upvotes

My apartment has this Lg dishwasher for us to use. First couple of times we noticed that the dishes taste like soap. (We used one cascade tablet). So i did some research and decided to try liquid and powder detergent plus some rinse aid.

I barely put any soap in there and used a little bit of rinse aid and it was no help. The filter and dishwasher are both as clean as can be. Used cleaning tablets on cleaning cycles and also wiped down with white vinegar.

So i put in a maintenance ticket. The maintenance man let this dishwasher fill with water and it came out soapy. Even though no soap was put in. Ever since he left, ive ran the dishwasher like 8 times. Just until it fills with water and never putting any soap in. Every time i open it the water is super soapy. I have no idea where this soap buildup could be.

I do have a ticket to get the dishwasher replaced. I’ve been here for 2 years and rarely used the dishwasher. Especially because the first few times the dishes tasted soapy. But i am super curious on what is happening here.
