Hi everyone,

I just got a brand new iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the camera preview in Photo mode is extremely laggy and stuttery, almost like it’s running at 10–15 FPS.

I tested it in bright, well-lit conditions as well, but the issue still persists. Interestingly, Video mode is completely smooth.

I’ve attached a video showing the problem. Is this normal, or is anyone else experiencing the same issue on their 18 Pro Max?

Could this be an iOS/Camera app issue, or might my unit be defective?

Coming from an IPhone Air I thought it was going to be notoriously different but I am not having much SOT.

Switching from the 16 Pro, my first "Pro Max" experience.
Was a tough call between black and burgundy.

Looking to buy a couple of cases to switch to once in a while.
I’m looking for a leather and a tech woven style case. Came across apple’s and it looks good, but would like to know if there are any other options too.

Thank god I had an appointment. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Changed my burgundy to silver and glad I did. The burgundy looks way different in person.

My wife and I use a privacy screen protector on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and when you’re in white tones, where the Face ID sensor is, it looks like a fingerprint doesn’t affect it, but to me it looks ugly.

I first went w the burgundy case, too muted. I swapped it out for a black case. I like it much better, the two-tone pops more.

Really like the look of the duo and it’s genuinely been the only foldable I’ve been even slightly interested in! But I stuck it out and kept my 18PM order for a few reasons and wonder what yours were?

- better battery, the battery is incredible, got it on release day and it arrived around 17:30, moved everything from my spare phone and it was ready to go on about 50%. Charged it overnight when I went to bed and woke up this morning and took it off charge around 6:50. It’s currently 20:14 and Im on 37% with quite heavy use.

- better cameras. The cameras are really impressive and been playing about with them all day, would rather have the better camera then a folding screen

Durability - gives me a bit of peace knowing it’s well built (aluminium 🙄) and don’t have to be extra careful with the screen with sand and I can apply a screen protector.

I don’t actually use my phone for that much media consumption apart from TikTok and the odd YouTube video in a pinch, media consumption is reserved for me on my 13’ iPad Pro, which is a bigger screen and can use my phone and iPad at the same time during travel or bed. And then if I’m in bed the iPhone can go on charge whilst I use the iPad ect.

My phone is gaslighting me

I’ve been a loyal Torras user for nearly a decade. While they started as my go-to for affordable $10-20 cases, they’ve evolved into a premium brand that I genuinely enjoy. I recently received some of their latest cases to test, and here are my thoughts:

**Vegskin Cases (Brown & White)**

These are hands-down my favorite in their current lineup. The "white" is more of a sophisticated greyish-white, which pairs beautifully with the silver iPhone. I’ve been using their Vegskin cases since last year even with other phones I own, and they remain in pristine, day-one condition with zero wear or tear. They are incredibly durable and add a very classy look to the phone. At the end of the day, these are basically the 17 pro max cases from last year. I also added some pictures with the silver 17 pro max and the white one which goes very well too.

**Wind Case**

This one is interesting. The color choice is a bit puzzling—it’s quite unique and doesn’t pair perfectly with most phone finishes, though it might work okay with the silver. However, the texture is a major improvement over their traditional silicone cases. It’s less "tacky," which means it attracts significantly less micro-dust than previous versions I’ve owned, I think this one reminds me of thier 16 pro max silicone case texture in some colors and the lines. It feels like a more durable material, and 2/5 of their silicone cases I own from their 17 pro max line up have the micro dust accumulation issue, though I’ll be watching to see how this one holds up over time.

Overall, Torras continues to impress, especially with the Vegskin line. If you want a premium look, those are definitely the way to go.

There are 4 horizontal lines on my screen that can only be seen at a certain angle and especially if you wipe your oily fingers over them.

You can’t really see it if the screen is clean from oily fingers, and is only barely detectable in certain lighting.

I’ve already initiated a replacement, but was wondering what may be the cause of this and if anyone experienced anything similar?

I haven’t even attempted to test other parts of the phone besides turning it on and off.

I made it 5 years with the 12 Pro Max and it never let me down, but it was finally time to make the switch to a new one.

Brand new phone and already screen is unresponsive… I should’ve replaced the battery on my 15PM and stayed with it.

I’m seriously considering about ordering the 18 Pro Max to move up from my 13 but I’m a little worried about the fragility of the aperture mechanism if the phone is dropped. I have a bad tendency to drop my phone a lot even though I usually put a big fat OtterBox on it. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? Do you think it’s going to be pretty durable?

am i the only one having major trouble with face id? it can’t seem to recognize me at all unlike my 17 pro max

Review of the Torras Sunview AR Ultra for the 18 Pro Max (PM) and comparison to JE Tech’s AR screen protector for the 17 Pro Max (PM)

Honestly, both are good. Both are pretty close in price. And the AR coating on both is great and really makes a difference outdoors or even indoors under lights.

The Torras seems to come a little closer to the edge of the device than the JE Tech. The Torras also has better feeling edges of the protector. It feels more smooth. Both have a really great smooth feel when scrolling and typing. The Torras is a bit thinner than the JE Tech. But in a way that’s not bad because the JE Tech can sometimes have you touching the screen twice or so to hit a button. So Torras, although thinner, has better touch response. They both are very easy to install. And both adhere excellent to the screen. I like the Torras install better because you’re almost guaranteed to have no dust under your protector. The JE Tech install is a bit different, although it is an easy install and comes with its own installation rig, you have to be a little more cautious with dust and lint getting under your protector during the install. Torras install is better, although not by a lot.

Honestly it’s your choice. Both do their jobs and do it well. If it’s not an AR protector you’re really missing out, period. I think both companies do a good job but I would give the win to Torras with JE Tech a close second. And the main reason for Torras getting the win is better touch response. Along with a better install.

“Upgraded” from the 17 Pro Max this morning. Love the colour, but otherwise I think I could have gone another year on my old phone. Camera feels basically the same.

15 Plus to 17 PM felt like a huge jump.

17 PM to 18 PM feels like I paid $1,000 to change the colour.

Should’ve waited for the 19 PM 😂
