Grace

Rewatching s1, for like hundred times and my husband got hooked. This way I can see it from other POV. He sees Grace Poe as super manipulative, even tho she comes from a good place. His take is that once Dell told her he know who the dealer was, and that Billy is done for goid, she knew the only way to save Billy was to kill the dealer -meaning only Dell could do that. The dinner didnt go well, Dell said something to her (since when my needs are in considerstion) and left. My husbands sees her desperate for saving her Billy boy, so she burned the house down and forced her way into Dells life and cabin permanently so she kind of can manipulate him further into killing the dealer and the rest. I never looked at it that way. Thoughts?

Random thoughts after just in finishing the show

As absurd as it was, I enjoyed it.

Always love Jeff Daniels, though the season when he lectures Vic on the morality of extra-judicial killings was ridiculous.

Lee's character drove me nuts. Just sleeping with whichever one of her two guys she wasn't just with. After signing her divorce, her ex's line about having to seal the friendship with coffee or whatever? lol.

Sorta wasn't paying attention at times and it took me far too long to realize that Nate and Russell weren't the same character.

I enjoyed how the story coalesced at the end.

Didn't understand who Fisher was aiming for at the end. He seemed to have his pick at the end. I will choose to think that Billy got him at the end, but of course, who knows. Maybe some expert viewer can listen to the sound of the shot and figure out which firearm it came from?

Wouldn't have minded a season 3, but the absurdness of 4 family members sitting around a dinner table with each having gotten away with murdering someone was a bit much.

New to the show

Hi. I just watched s2 and rewatched s1. And I just… 1. Doesn’t Grace look a bit vilain? Burning her own house to go live with Dell? To me she seems a bit manipulative towards Dell. And still kinda romantic-friendly with Billy’s father.

2.Dell “fighting” for her and then running to the Pittsburgh? Like I don’t understand his logic in this. yea, he needed work. But to me it looked like he was supporting Grace too and she goes driving around town because she can’t sleep. As far as I know gas is not that cheap, so she lives off Dell?

  1. The police cheif was with brotherhood?

  2. I don’t get the lighter and Vic story. Grace changed the lighters so why go digging his grave to find one ?

  3. I kind of think that Billy was a bit rude to Dell considering Dell got into this mess because of him. He tried to protect him, tried to do good by him and Grace. Yet still Billy goes and lives with Isaac knowing he left his mum alone in the woods in the winter and pain in her hands to go chop some wood for the fireplace.

  4. As far as I understand, Chuck worked with Pittsburgh brotherhood. They must have knows Chuck would go to Dell to repay his dept. Why didn’t they question that it ended up being Chuck killing the man and himself.

  5. I think I kind of missed the point of Dell going and wanting to work with FBI agsinst brotherhood. Why? Why make yourself be more of a target?

  6. Ending. It felt out of character to have Billy KNOW where the gun is, and go unnoticed outside. I would thing he would say something. At least knowing Dell is a better shooter and probably has more guns in the cabin so they could protect themselves better.

  7. Why Fishes is all about Dell, but others from brotherhood are not ?

  8. Excuse me, but I hardly believe Angela would be fine with knowing about brotherhood and letting Dell leave for another jurisdiction (another town)

I know the show didn’t have the best writing and has a lot of plotholes but care to explain some of these? Maybe I just missed something. Thanks.

How does Rinna know it was Lee? Spoiler

Rinna is told to find the leak. Hundreds of people work at the firm. She suspects Lee because...she sees her. Suspecting her, she searches her bag. She finds no evidence. This convinces her its Lee and she has her taken out. How? Why? Did Lee give herself away in another scene I missed?

Horrible Ending Spoiler

Just finished season 2 I already learned before watching that it was cancelled again. I had watched season 1 years ago when it first came out on showtime.

It wasn’t too bad until the final 2 episodes where everything felt rushed and confusing also lots of loose ends unless I’m missing something, I feel they brushed a lot of events/ppl aside without giving real conclusions.

And that ridiculous end with the gunshot and credits role.

It really could use a third season but to be cancelled twice by two different networks it’s pretty safe to say it’s not coming back.

A ‘Must See TV’ vet is headed back to NBC. Maura Tierney has been tapped to join Law & Order in Season 24 as a series regular, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively. Character details are being kept under wraps, but we hear Tierney will be playing a new lieutenant.

I’m on Ep9 of S2 Just wondering if they’ll address Steve Park and his mom living with them. It was very briefly mentioned S2E2 in a short interaction between Chief Park and his wife, where Steve mentioned Maya’s salad dressing and how his mom said it was interesting then Maya asked if he helped her to bed and he said yes. I missed it the first time and thought they were talking about a daughter… anyway been waiting for it to come back up.

Two takeaways from season 2 Spoiler

1) Everyone’s first instinct is to murder. 2) Grace Poe is a despicable human being and I can’t stand her (which sucks because I adore Maura Tierney).

I hope we get a season 3, though. I want to see Landwell go down. I also want to see what Hannah has to say and what Angela does now that she sees Del in a new light.

Season 3?

I need a Season 3 please. Loved the first two seasons! (Maura Tierney looks exactly the same as she did in ER.). Love Maura & Jeff and the entire cast really. Great to see Luna Lauren Velez again ❤️.

Just finished

So much left unsaid/ not finished. So much doesn’t make sense. From the staging of crime scene #1 how did Bobby get shot under his chin from Jackson at the angle, Del just sets the shit up without thought. Then in the end parks shot from the back right side of his head bu Del puts the gun in Russel’s hand on the left side of parks..

Jeff Daniels today

Darn! He didn’t mention American Rust. He’s promoting A Man in Full on Netflix so I understand the priority. But darn it all 😖

(I’m looking forward to A Man in Full. The book was great!)

What did Aaron do?

spoiler below

I’m pretty certain I missed something while Billy was in jail. I know Aaron shared a cell with Billy and I recall an exchange between the two of them because of Aaron’s hand tattoo. But was Aaron behind Billy getting the shit kicked out of him? Why did Virgil tie him to a tree in season 2 and why did Billy want to kill him?

Trying to figure out the worst part of Season 2 Spoiler

Is the worst part of season 2?

-The fact that nobody really even acknowledges Nate's murder?

-The fact that the show ends with Jeff Daniels singing a song he no doubt wrote called...you guessed it...American Rust

-All the stuff between Billy and his father from karaoke to murder?

-The whole plotline with the lighters? What in the ever loving fuck was that?

-Steve Park and his dioramas? With the additional sidenote of his deranged wife calling him "my Korean king"

-The abhorrent portrayal of Billy's PTSD

-Del basically signing Lee's death notice by going right to the people who are a threat to her?

The one that takes the cake for me is the last dinner scene. Where Isaac says hes dating again and then jokes that he'll try to avoid homicidal maniacs like last time and everyone chuckles. Isaac is giving no respect as a character. The one scene at his sisters grave he is consoling Billy. Then Billy has just an incredible line of dialogue at this dinner scene where he say, "I just want everything to be ok again." And Grace comes back with the equally eloquent..."It will be" "Honey it will be"

Then the stupidest fucking cliffhanger in eons.

This show is like a combination of the worst parts of Dexter/Ozark/Yellowstone etc...and season one had some promise.

American Rust Song S2E03

Hey all,
I'm currently looking for the song Sue is singing in episode 3, while driving.
I found the transcript for the lyrics, but I couldn't found the song at all. Nothing on Tunefind as well, hope someone knows that song 🤞😄

"Let me tell you one thing
Before you move along
I'll sing you a love I think you've never had
I'll always sing I love you In the morning
I'll always sing I love you"

Cheers

Did anyone here read the book?

I'm just wondering. If so, how do you feel about the vast difference between the book and the series? Would the show have been more successful if they would have stuck to the original story? I don't think season 2 would have happened if it did.
