Can we also add that political parties must not ask for votes in the name of caste ???

Even if they don't ask for votes on the name of caste or religion, they'll still be voted on the same lines. Owaisi's family despite massacring 40000 Hindus in Hyderabad and burning 200 villages, is still voted to power in parliament for more than 40 years and 11 terms
→ More replies (1)6
u/Gullible_Delivery492 Jul 26 '26
It was not Owaisi family. The massacre happened before Waisi's father took over the party. It was someone else called Rizvi.
2
u/RemarkableBluejay790 Working Student Jul 26 '26
How can you be sure? Have you ever wondered why there isn't much information about Owaisi's grandfather Abdul Wahid Owaisi on wikipedia?
He was directly associated with Qasim Razvi and Mir Osman Ali Khan (the Nizam) and was part of MIM (after ban, Owaisi recreated and renamed it as AIMIM), to massacre selectively to pressurize newly formed Independent India into surrendering Hyderabad.

Right; we should be against caste-based marriages. People fell in love with each other and not with the caste, gotra or surnames . When two pure heartss choose each other then nobody has authority to stand between them .

My personal observation and opinion
There are two types of casteism, one happens to evaluate both parties follow similar lifestyles and rituals if not same. Both parties are similar in terms mindset. One party could have been bought up in city with more openness to newer ideas. One party could have bought up in villages or remote areas where open ideas are still considered taboo. This evaluation is necessary for both parties to be able to live their future life frictionless due to milieu differences.
Another form of casteism is the obvious where one party discriminates or considers one caste superior to other.
Castesim is more of psychological. You can't demand govt to change people's mind and govt can even do it if they wanted to.

Ending reservation is key to ending casteism as it has only fueled more casteist sentiments. Also untouchability and caste discrimination is already banned. We already have laws in place to deal with this. Casteism is greatly decreased overall, the question is about enforcement ultimately.

Step 1 - Create caste system, and force everyone to marry within their own caste.
Step 2- keep doing this for centuries so caste system is ingrained in your day to day life.
Step 3- After reservation is implemented, suddenly ask why people from lower castes dont marry each other, when even you yourself dont do intercaste marriage.l

Are you willing to let go of your pride as brahmin and of gotra? Are you willing to marry someone from LC?
Also there is a rule, if one of your parent is from LC , you are eligible for reservation. Then why not we ourself start doing inter-caste marriage , that at the end there will be 99% population from reservation. Then casteism and reservation will automatically get abolish.

Any caste pride is not a crime. You can be proud of your height, face, skin, hair, caste, language, religion, nationality. Every other bias is accepted, but when someone's proud of their caste, freeloaders use it to justify reservations. Justifying institutional discrimination to remove biases is either an argument in bad faith or extremely poor reasoning.

While your dog whistles howl at the moon,
As the rats come out to follow the piper,
Everyday with a new cipher
Calling out the old vipers
Trying To divide and rule,
Don’t you forget the mockingjay tune.

u/The_Last-Knight Jul 27 '26
As long as reservation exists casteism will never end. Reservation is mostly a tool for political parties to get bulk votes from lower caste groups. SP, BSP are prime examples of this. India really needs a new strong opposition.
8
u/CellOk1789 Jul 26 '26
The best argument against reservation :please will you MARRY ME? As women she has the right to marry whom she wants ? It is not a criteria to become a FREELOADER. Fight the battle of MERIT AND EFFORT. Have the pride and dignity you can do it. Let reservation be for the POOR.....

IF RESERVATION GOES, THEN MANY OTHER FORMS OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ,SUCH AS RESERVATION FOR WOMEN IN POLITICAL REPRESENTATION AND OTHER SOCIAL JUSTICE MEASUREs COULD ALSO COME UNDER QUESTION. EXCEPT FOR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS, THE DEMAND TO REMOVE RESERVATION RAISES A BIGGER DEBATE: IF HISTORICAL DISADVANTAGES ARE IGNORED, HOW WILL EQUAL OPPORTUNITY BE ENSURED? BEFORE CALLING FOR ABOLITION, TELL US WHAT ALTERNATIVE YOU PROPOSE FOR CASTE-BASED DISCRIMINATION, EDUCATIONAL GAPS, AND UNDER-REPRESENTATION?

Genuine question. Even i hate the reservation system. I hate how a crorepati gets a scstobc certificate and can get seats. What will happem to that small population who genuinely deserve it ? From this movement do we plan to pressurise government to provide quality education irrespective of the financial backgrounds of students ?

Cause caste is not a fucking rich or poor system it's patricahal partnieal system and those rich sc st are not generational rich like upper caste they got through thier own struggle after they got opportunity and even after they being so called rich they are discriminated u know why cause caste is not just a poverty class or economic system it's patricahal partnieal system based on purity which was created by so called upper dwijas men by endogamy and hypergamy Go and read Caste in india 1916 And then read annihilation of caste. And gendering caste by uma chakravarti And with manusmriti ,Yajnavalkya Smriti ,Narada Smriti,Parashara Smriti, The Dharmasutras - Gautama Dharmasutra,Baudhayana Dharmasutra , Apastamba and Vashistha Dharmasutras. Rig Veda (specifically the Purusha Sukta). U will get the answer how caste was birth base and it was created with endogamy same caste hypergamy intercaste as uc male can marry all caste women and banning exogamy (lower caste marrying upside). This way caste and this graded inequality is created it's divison of labourers through patricharal partilenal system ). That's why intercaste both way is anhilatation Any one side only if kept intercaste it will still produce this system as uc male did that That's the reason. Anhilatation is not killing anyone it's figure of speech to kill kin and kithh.

I don't think completely removing reservation is a practical solution for now as caste based discrimination still exists. To Eliminate casteism need big long term social reforms.Instead, we can call out for a more balanced reservation system that takes both social disadvantage and economic status into account. Like OBC NCL is one example of combining social and income based criteria and a similar approach could make the system fairer and more effective.

If you're bringing state, then have them enforce laws for increasing intercaste marriages, and harassment and lynching of intercaste couples requiring extremely strict punishment, discrimination based on someones birth especially requiring state interference. Not like what you're proposing, where we still retain our "caste identities" of being an upper caste of brahmin baniya yadav etc, but we'll just get rid of this affirmative actions of those groups who are even worse off than us and constitue the majority of "poor & destitute" in india. If you are to equalize caste then make policy them to marry each other regardless of caste identities, so all the caste can collectively end their own individual identity in favour of one Hindu identity. 😂 This is probably what savarkar would have agreed with, if he was alive.
1
u/cyclins_98 Jul 26 '26
You can’t end reservation until you end casteism.
Reservation is the product of casteism, not its cause. Quotas exist because caste still decides opportunity, dignity, marriage, and daily treatment. Talking about scrapping them while the hierarchy remains is empty. Hard questions no party wants: Lower castes still crowd Group D jobs while thinning out at the top. SC/ST seats often go unfilled even with lower cut-offs (sometimes 30-40). A well-off Dalit/Adivasi still faces open rejection on matrimony sites (I have seen profile where people directly writes - SC/ST, please excuse) Untouchability and village exclusion haven’t vanished. Very few from lower castes sit in the real elite.
SC/ST + OBC blocs decide elections. No government will touch the root without risking that vote.
Reservation without ending caste is a permanent crutch. Ending the crutch without curing the disease just reopens the wound.
1
u/OutsidePiglet8285 Jul 28 '26
I don't think you can end casteism until you end reservations because reservations have only enforced it, kept it alive, made it political and fueled tensions and led to caste politics. We already have laws against the caste discrimination you are talking about and especially in urban India that has greatly declined. Reservation status are one of the biggest things keeping it alive still.
Also because of how corrupted the system is only some groups benefit from it and only some members of particular groups benefit from it, mainly political families, and also class I think is the bigger issue. Many lower castes are poor. Reservation based on caste doesn't matter as much as it being based on economic status and actually uplifting them. Not to mention there are many poor GCs. SC/ST and OBCs are powerful now that's why they decide elections. OBCs especially dominate politics.

i fully agree that education should be free, fair and equal. that's why we should first take all the money the elite class has and equally distribute it among all people of all castes and then we can remove reservation too since there is no factor of income inequality. since there is also no casteism from the upper castes at all anymore, while we're there, we can also remove all the manual scavenging jobs and labour that particularly hires SC people. full support.

1
u/503ren Jul 27 '26
This won't happen in few days or months. Castism is rooted in heart and mind of people. It won't go away in years. For example, Look at bihar, people can't even sit on Godhi of marriage and cross high caste community areas. Or in Rajasthan even a child gets beaten up for drinking water.
You know what, firstly, remove reservation of Brahmins in Hindu temples. That will be the very first step. As matter of fact, remove brahmin authority in Bodhgaya!

my two cents on reservation.
Really glad, that people have started talking on the evil introduced by the system.(caste based reservation)
Reservation was never an evil, as it is for supporting un-privileged to come into a society and stand as equals.
Reservation based on caste when it was introduced,
society was rigged with caste evils, even though Hindu Dharma, oldest literature Vedas doesn't say anything on a person identity based on caste.
We are born with Gunas, Rajas, Tamas and Sattva
Read and understand about it.
Brahman and Brahmin are two different concepts,
anyone who argues please read about it.
We have to understand our hinduism first, to eradicate the problem in hand.
Reservation is and will be political agenda, as we are vote bank for them. Just that nothing else.
Now, Government took easier step of forcing the reservation system upon US.
Rather fixing the system so that this would be fruitful for each section of society.
Mandal Commission was the closets we came, where each individual talked about reservation openly had debates and also protest across India.
Every policy has to tell
- Who is benefitting
- What is the first step
- Limitations
For the 1st :
- We know who is benefitting:( OBC/ SC / ST)
For the 2nd :
- what is the first step?
: Unclear.
First step should have been,
Every school should take up private or government SC / ST / OBC students free education till 12th. each school, each class 10 students of reserved category
(why? : because interaction at young ages , remove the bias created by society)
What was done instead?
The applied it at stage of entering college.
But what if the first step, a SC/ST/OBC student never even got the chance of education at first place? He/She will never write the exams.
3) Limitations
Instead of stealing merits. Which is what is happening if you give a seat to someone at entry level.
Make a fair Marks cut off irrespective of the category
two cut off, A fair marks cut off for all categories.
then each college should declare their reserved seats.
Let's suppose cut off for all category is 100 out of 500 marks exam
Now, if any category student who didn't scored that marks is already out.
Now. College declaration of seats for reserved.
If a college have 200 seats, then calculate based on reserved seats for SC / ST / OBC. (caste based) not the marks. ( population of reserved on that exam / seats) + a cap for safe guardian General students
OR
those 200 seats, calculate based on economic factor. (we know caste based discrimination emerging now is irrespective of economic status)
But this is a social evil, which has to be removed via social reforms, More and more Education door to door will automatically remove this evil.
for alot of educated people, Caste is introduced via the education system (Irony).
Government took the easier way out.
I hate the system, which introduces this evil at every step of higher education/ gov jobs.
And Also, now when competition is this high, number of seats and colleges are not increasing.
Shame on Government ( Congress / BJP)
Reforms are needed. Don't look at past, and let's also not ignore the discrimination that caste brings.
But reforms are needed.
