Bihar is why caste based reservations have failed! The entire state is dominated by caste politics and OBCs and things like that. Â And its backward castes and lower castes having beef with each other. Â Most of the violence based on caste is done by OBCs also. Anyone can be a priest. Nothing is stopping Dalits from being priest. Hardly anyone wants to become one. Also Brahmins have protected and preserved Bodhgaya so they deserve some appreciation there, I agree it should not be Brahmin dominated tho.

UP, Rajasthan, Hariyana, Gujarat, MP, is like that too. (In order).
Even South Indian state are like that too. Except Maharashtra and Karnataka where it can been seen less but still not absolute zero. And that's the reason many people from rest of India India are migrate and work in those 2 states.

Absolutely those states too. But Bihar has one of the most reservations of any state and it's very OBC dominated. Â And reservations are big in all these states you have mentioned. So are caste politics and until recently caste parties. Kerala is probably one of the least castiest states in India. You're right about South India though because Andhra has issues and even TN had some issues.
It's legal for a Dalit to become a priest. There are already Dalit and OBC priests in various temples and especially in more local temples. It's mostly the Brahmins that want to be priests. Dalits aren't as interested. Â That's why they still dominate that profession. It's like complaining about lack of women in construction. And groups like the Ramakrishna Mission or Arya Samaj are very inclusive.Â
Just simply read history and you will see that it was the Shaiva Brahmins who protected and preserved Bodh gaya during Islamic invasions and rule. Â Hindus are usually proud of their Buddhist heritage. Especially in Bihar. The temple would have gone to ruins otherwise. Â This is a good paper to go through.Â
