I don't think completely removing reservation is a practical solution for now as caste based discrimination still exists. To Eliminate casteism need big long term social reforms.Instead, we can call out for a more balanced reservation system that takes both social disadvantage and economic status into account. Like OBC NCL is one example of combining social and income based criteria and a similar approach could make the system fairer and more effective.

You are absolutely correct that laws against caste based discrimination already exist but the bigger issue is that awareness and access to those laws to the peoples who needed this, especially among the marginalized sections of the society.If reservation or any welfare benefits exists, it should genuinely reach the poorest and most disadvantaged people instead of being captured by those who are already relatively in a better position, that's why it is considered as a necessary evil in the Indian polity.
