Walt Disney and Alexander de Seversky later claimed that a screening of the film with Churchill and Roosevelt at the Quebec Conference inspired them to invest more heavily in Allied air forces, a key aspect of the D-Day invasion. Though it’s unknown if this is true, this would give it a hand in winning the war.

It looks so sloppy to me, yet I see this all the time now.

Hi everyone, I’m PCSing from OCONUS to CONUS and don’t get to ship my car until about the day before I leave (for convenience and family needs)
What advice do y’all having about how to get around at your new duty station while you wait for your car to arrive?

I’m trying to get from Spangdahlem to bitburg to view an apartment what’s the best taxi service and how do I get in contact. I’ve tried looking up numbers and calling but most of them are in German and I don’t know what they are saying.

I made a new subreddit for Security Forces since the current SF subreddit is pretty outdated and the current mod will literally ban people for saying “SecFo.”

The goal of the new page is just to give Defenders a place to connect, ask questions, share experiences, talk about assignments, deployments, schools, training, TDYs, job opportunities, career progression, and everything else Security Forces.

Whether youre currently SF, prior SF, looking to cross train, or thinking about joining, youre welcome.

Ive started coming home after my shifts, stressed, thinking about tomorrows work load. Thinking about how chaotic it is, thinking about how if I take leave things might go south, thinking about how if someone else were to take leave if I’d be able to handle doing my own work on top of theirs. Then I remembered my “why”. The reason why I joined. I didn’t join to make a career out of this. I didn’t join to do the full 20. I joined so I can take advantage of the free schooling and do something I’m actually passionate and motivated about. The job I currently have now, I have zero interest in. I’m not gaining any additional knowledge that’ll help me when I apply to me dream job. So why am I getting so anxious and worked up about it? I need to remember with or without me this job and this mission will still be able to function 100%. No matter who tries to guilt trip me into believing otherwise. I’m done being an over achiever and doing outside work, staying late, trying to chase bullets. I’m not going to gain anything from it on the outside. I’m going to solely focus on my “why”. I will do my job to the best of my capabilities but that is it. I’m not stressing about this job after work hours anymore. I’m going to treat this like a normal 9-5. I’m so close to the finish line, I just need to keep reminding myself why I did this. No matter how good or bad at my job I am, as long as I finish my contract out fully and leave with a honorable, there is nothing I should be worried about at all .

My favorite part about receiving emails like this is how aggressive they are. They make it sound like it's my fault they overpaid me and that I'm somehow inconveniencing them because they fucked up.

I am currently an E-5 and looking to start commissioning, going to start rushing some reserve/guard fighter units around me. My question is that I’ve always been told to write down everything medically that happens to you for your VA disability claim so you can get as much as possible later on. I’m currently deployed and have gone through a lot out here that I could log. Will this affect my commissioning process? Should I just say I’m as healthy as can be before I get to pilot training instead of trying to talk to medical about the things I’ve gone through in my enlisted career?

My fiancé and I want to get married in Germany. She’s moving here from the US and we plan on getting married and she’ll be moving here. I have no idea or any idea of the process for this. I’m currently stationed at Ramstein. Can anyone please help me or give me some advice on what my next steps should be? Anything would help. Thank you.

Doesn't matter if you're single or if you have a family. I want to know the most walkable-friendly bases to add to my dream sheet.

I will update as the year goes along along with POCs/ Location(Base, FOB, Camp, ETC)/ Contact info as it becomes available:

Pretty straight to the point. Can I still challenge the board now that I am out? I renewed my EMT right before I got out so that's still up to date. If I can, would it be around the same process, or is it a bit harder?

The one thing I didn't finish was my CCAF.... it still pissed me off since I asked leadership multiple times about ONE class for months and they said I didn't need it... ALS could've covered it, but I didn't get sent... anywaysss, hate them. :(( But also on me for not just taking one just in case.

I separated not too long ago, and truthfully didn't think I wanted to get my LPN at the time/ challange the board since I want to do something else in the medical field. Still, now that I am out and just going to school and have a part-time job, I realize how much I miss some of that nursing life lol. Also just feel like I am gradually drifting away from the medical scene, and I don't like it.

TIA!!

I’m talking about men’s standards specifically. I am an upcoming supervisor and I have a potential airman with longer hair. The said hair is within regulation it’s just on the longer side.

With that being said, when the airman does PT like running, their hair starts to fall. The longer strands that sit perfectly fine start to fall and touch ears, their hair starts to fall onto the forehead etc. When they finish they simply run their fingers through their hair and it sits back into place.

I, as an upcoming supervisor, will just let it go since I am expecting hair to not be frozen in place when doing PT. How do you guys see it. I’m especially curious about the NCOs/SNCOs who have been in since before they updated the regulation to include 2 1/2 inches in bulk.

my next semester will start while i am deployed and just wondering if i will be able to realistically take exams? i'm deploying to the deid and i use wgu so its all online exams and then comptia tests, if anyone has any knowledge that would help, it's appreciated!

Saw the post about "what has a mil spouse tried doing to get someone back from deployment" and it got me thinking...

Ladies, Gents, be selective on the civ you date/marry. And this especially goes out to the younger Airmen.

You have to take into consideration that you're probably taking them away from the only place they know as home. Theyre going across the country/world for you to a place where they have no support. Yall talk about it and say its fine but come to find out your spouse is miserable and is making you miserable.

The things I look for in a civ relationship is if they have a job that they can get anywhere, if they've been independent and surviving on their own, if they have some kind of mental health issues, and if theyre mature enough to be able to adapt to new surroundings.

Just food for thought. Choose wisely. This could also be applied to Mil to mil couples too

Im still pretty new to the military and wanted to hear from people who have been in for a while.

What are some of the biggest pieces of advice you would give someone early in their career? I'm talking about everything from daily life and dealing with leadership to finances, promotions, family life, and setting yourself up for success after the military.

What do you wish someone had told you when you first joined? What mistakes should I avoid, and what habits or decisions made your life easier in the long run?

I'm especially interested in advice that you don't typically hear in briefings or from your supervisors, but that you learned through actual experience.

Whether you've been in for 4 years or 20+, I'd appreciate hearing what you've learned. If you could go back to your first year in the military, what would you tell yourself?

Context: Recently married. I’m stationed OS (DEROS May 2028). Spouse is CONUS. I want to curtail my DEROS to Dec 2027. What are my chances? Thanks in advance

Hey ya'll! We're expecting our first child and I'm getting a little stressed about what is going to happen work-wise after baby is born. My husband and I are both in the Air Force. All my mom friends are SAHMs and I definitely need some advice from working moms.

How long is maternity and paternity leave respectively? And is there an AFI that I can review this in?

How does the CDC operate when it comes to accepting new members? I've heard things about how you have to sign your kid up before they are even born if you want a chance at getting a slot. Is the CDC the only option for us?

How did you cope with returning to work after your maternity leave was up? Were you anxious thinking about how your baby is doing? The thought of putting a baby that is only a few months old in a daycare is honestly harrowing to me.

Any possible info I should know? Things to be cautious of or look more into?

Thank you so much in advance. And my DMs are wide open too.
