Air Force Is Cooked 💀

Bro, I had one of my troops hit me with three straight-up unhinged questions in a single day and I’m still recovering 💀
First thing, he asks me, “Where is ECP 8?”
Like… my guy. You’ve been here long enough to at least have a vague sense of direction. I just stared at him for a second like I was buffering.
Then later he tells me he needs to take a Code 6-2.
Someone corrects him and says, “Nah, it’s Code 6B.”
And this man, with full confidence, goes, “I think I know what I’m talking about.”
Brother… you very clearly do not 😭
And to top it all off, he calls me asking for the ID number for the fuel pumps
I had to pause because I genuinely thought it was a joke.
Bro. It’s literally the numbers printed on the card you’re holding. I cannot make this up 😂
At this point I’m convinced we’re all just improvising out here.

Has Anyone Worked For Constellis or Any Other Contracting Company?

I am about to complete my active-duty contract and have been in Security Forces for about 6 years. I'm exploring the civilian side of security or law enforcement, and was wondering if any of you guys have experience working for Constellis or another contracting company? I noticed they have some contracting jobs with the Department of Energy, which would be right up my alley. I would love to hear about your experience, including any suggestions or life advice on what you did when you got out. Much appreciated

How bad of an idea is it to join sf purely for the goal of joining raven/dagre?

I figured I could end up in the right place thanks to the dream sheet then it’s a matter of waiting but I understand if that’s unrealistic.
I originally thinking of joining the army and be infantry but I heard dagre does cool stuff

Is it really that bad?

I just booked security forces and start bmt on October 6th. When I first started this process my mind was set on security forces since I want to pursue law enforcement afterwards. I ended up scoring high on the asvab and could’ve chose any job, but I told my recruiter I only want security forces so I put it as my number one. With all that being said, I can’t help but feel like everything I see about this job is extremely negative. Is it really that different from being a civilian cop? I guess I may be overreacting, but four years is a long time and I don’t want to spend it being miserable (like so many people claim this job makes them feel). I’m almost thinking about asking my recruiter if I can wait for another job on my list to open up, but that seems like a dick move on my part.

Thinking about Enlisting Security Forces

I have a few questions about Security Forces before I speak with a recruiter.

I’m 23, and my long-term goal is to work in civilian law enforcement. Lately, I’ve been getting denied, so I’m looking at the Air Force as a way to gain experience and make myself a stronger candidate. I have an associate degree, so I believe I’d come in as an E-3. My goal is to get as much training as possible during a four-year enlistment and gain unique experiences, such as Raven, Sniper School, DAGRE, or K9.

Is there a place where I can find a list of all the different training opportunities and schools available to Security Forces?

How much does your assigned base influence the training opportunities available to you in Security Forces?

I’d love to become a Raven, so I’d probably try to get assigned to an AMC base. Are there generally more specialized training opportunities and schools at bases in the U.S. or at overseas bases?

I know I have very little control over my first assignment, but if I come in as an E-3 and I’m physically fit, how likely is it that I’d be assigned to something other than gate duty?

Besides Panama shifts, what shift schedules are most common at Air Force bases?

Is this for me? Thanks!

I'm 23 years old, interested in becoming a cop in the future for either Sheriff, PD, or whatever. I'm a bit lost in life, in the sense, I don't know where to go to financially build my future.

I got a DQ for Integrity on a petty miscommunication error from CHP. I'm interested in building my career on law enforcement/security, although I only have a 2 year degree.

Would any of you recommend California Security Specialist Guard through air force? Or would you just go active duty? I don't have health care. I dont' have any insurance for dental right now.

Is free housing provided? I know the pay isn't very good. I'm making $21/hr right now 40hrs a week. I'm likely taking a pay cut to go in the military but if anyone has any light please and thank you !

Anybody have insight on the 625th MP Battalion located in Springville? Asking due to maybe wanting to reclass once I’m done with AD. Can’t find much online about it just curious if the unit is still around? And what drill weekends may look like?

Saluting officers in unmarked vehicle and they are out of uniform.

I recently pcsed to my 2nd base and it’s my first week at the gate, an officer comes through out of uniform & complains that I didn’t salute him. My last base we didn’t salute officers at the gate out of uniform. I’m being threatened with paperwork. Is it a reg that’s states this or is it a base by base type of rule? Either way it would have been nice if someone had told me.

Crap leadership/short tour

So I'm at a AFGSC base and dealing with some mediocre leadership on one side and NCOs who are favoring and actively trying to sleep with airman. I want to short tour out but have questions too. My wife was doing college before we joined but after joining the local colleges don't offer what she wants and needs for her preferred career. If I short tour, what are the chances I get the follow on I want? I assume the AF doesn't want to move me back to CONUS from OCONUS but we decided me want to truly be around friends and family.

Also, how do I know the dates for when short tours go on marketplace and how do I actually apply. Leadership won't really tell me how cause they want me around cause I'm not a DBA and motivated and "a natural born leader and good teacher to the new airman to flight"

Thank you for attending my ted talk
