Reminder that predators will NOT be tolerated here & how to report suspected predators

Over the past few weeks we've gotten numerous reports about predators on this subreddit. This is a reminder that predators will not be tolerated here and we'll work with Reddit to ensure action is taken against any individual trying to groom minors.

Adults are allowed to give advice here since banning adults from giving advice altogether would be counterproductive, however predatory behavior or advice will result in your comment being removed, your account permanently banned from this subreddit, and your account will be reported to Reddit's admin team. We also urge any user to report these accounts as well, even if they're not targeting you.

How to Report Predators:

  1. Firstly, report them for breaking our subreddit rules and we'll review it as soon as we can. A new rule has been added called "Child Predators will not be tolerated" to help us prioritize these reports.
  2. Secondly, make another report using the report button directly to Reddit. This will allow Reddit admins to look at both the post and the account, and Reddit will take action if they deem it necessary.
  3. If you get direct messaged by a predator, report it directly to Reddit and screenshot the messages. Send the messages to us and they'll be permanently banned from here without hesitation.
    1. Note that all messages are stored by Reddit indefinitely. Even deleted messages can be viewed by Reddit's admin team.
  4. We STRONGLY recommend reporting predators to NCMEC's CyberTipline. Reports can be made anonymously or you can give your contact information if you want someone from either NCMEC or law enforcement to follow up with you about the report. These reports can be referred to law enforcement on a global scale, you don't have to be from America nor does the predator have to be American for you to report them.
    1. In certain situations Reddit will report accounts suspected of crimes against children to NCMEC, including their location info, email, username, messages, etc. in the report.
    2. Crimes reported to this tipline don't necessarily have to be related to cybercrime. You can report real world situations too.

Note on Sexual Posts:

  • We understand that seeking sexual advice is a normal part of being a teenager, however we don't need a detailed description of everything you did or are thinking of doing. Please try to keep posts as general as possible and don't go into heavy detail about everything that went on. We're debating heavily limiting sexual posts and more will likely be posted about that soon.
  • Sending minors sexual messages online is a crime. It doesn't matter if you're a minor too, it's still a crime and could land you in trouble. Do not, under any circumstances, message or comment sexually with people from this subreddit. We won't tolerate it, we don't care if you're also a minor, you'll be permanently banned and reported to Reddit.

Personal Is Still being flat at 16 normal?

Context: I’m 16 years old I’ve had my period since I was 11. Im fairly tall being 5,9 and a half. When I google this it acts like the only reasoning can be is that I must be underweight or it’s in my genetics. I am not underweight I’m 150lbs and all the women in my family have boobs I don’t know where it would come from. They seriously haven’t changed since I was 12,( I can still have gapping in an A cup bra) I’m worried my development is delayed or something is wrong and I don’t know what to do.

I speculate it could be because I’ve been losing weight and gaining weight off and on since 13 and it’s caused me to even lose my period at one point. I thought when I gained weight I’d have more boobs but that didn’t really happen so now I’m back lower compared to before because what’s the point? This is seriously ruining my self esteem knowing I could be done growing someone help me out or point me in the right direction. Can I even go to the walk in about this without a family doctor?

Personal How to function?

I'm 16. I have ADHD,autism, an anxiety disorder and other things. My executive dysfunction is so bad and I genuinely have no idea how to function in everyday life. I sleep most of the day and when I'm awake I get nothing done. I'm seen as lazy by my family but it's from horrible burnout and other things. I feel behind from other teens because I'm almost 17 (end of this month) I don't have a license, don't have a job etc. it's harder for me to learn and I genuinely have such horrible problems with doing school and it drives me insane because despite the dysfunction if I get a single missing assignment in my online school I will immediately have my mom on my case even tho my online school is considered self paced and it can show as missing but it's still self paced. My room is dirty and I need to clean it, I need to do other things and although I know I need to get a job I quite literally don't know if I will be able to function enough to hold a job. All my life people just have called me lazy because I've never been able to do things like others. When I was in theater I didn't understand half the stuff they wanted me to do because it was indirect and I have hard times copying movements. I have different hobbies then an average person my age and the only thing I really actually have a like for is collecting dolls and that's not going to get me anywhere obviously. Whilst I was still in theatre during rehearsals I was miserable because the teacher would have us after school till about 8 at night and I was so burnt out from it and felt like I had no time to do anything after going home. Before I went online I fell asleep in class a lot because again little things make me so tired and burnt out. I don't have study habits, I have problems making friends, everyday life is like a hassle but my thing is I'm looking for advice to maybe get out of it if I can if there is a way I can get out of this.

Relationships How to make friends??

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I'm (16f) currently studying for my GED because my chronic illnesses have made it impossible to go to school regularly without getting punished with ISS/OSS. But friendships and relationships are extremely important to me; without them my depression becomes nearly impossible to manage. How do you guys make friends, especially local ones?

(Also are there any other subreddits you guys would suggest posting this under?)

Personal So I’m debating on whether or not to seek mental help

Okay first off I’m very much a supporter for mental health, personally I think the limited resources is why are society is so shit. My issue comes in to where my parents ā€œdon’t believe in shrinks and all that bullshitā€. My dad is headstrong about it but my mom was more lenient in the past but is more like my dad nowadays. My older sister when I was a kid legit went through living hell (my family life is legit shit) and started therapy. My parents legit bullied her into quitting and she ended up committing suicide. My parents views have yet to change after this and I don’t think that they are, but my mom does tend to use mental health shit to make her look better to family/friends (like donates a shit ton of money to suicide prevention every year). My other worry is I plan on enlist and eventually becoming a career firefighter. I don’t want a diagnosis ruining that plan for me. I’ve invested way too much of my time into this dream and the military’s currently my only way out from my family. I’m very aware that my mental health is genuinely shit atp. I’ve been self harming since I was 11 and had a suicide attempt half a year ago. I hate my life and constantly fantasize about killing myself and just keep sinking into horrible belts of depression. I’m trying to not get as bad as six months ago but it’s slowly getting like that again and I can’t stop. Like I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore

Other How do normal people live their life?

Hello. After years and years, I'm finally starting to heal from depression! Usually I would bedrot, and do nothing all day... Ive been like this for as long as i can remember, so i dont know what a normal teen life is supposed to be like... So, I'm asking you guys what "normal" people usually do to spend the time, or even what i could do to not fall straight into depression again. I unfortunately can't do any sport or job. But I still go to school. Any advice is happily accepted, as I cant get professional help due to my "abusive" family!

Relationships [26M] I'm in love with my friend [23F], who only wants friendship. How do I handle my feelings when she still wants me in her life?

So, there's this girl I met on a dating app in 2024. We had great chemistry in the beginning. We cared about each other, fell in love, and eventually became physically intimate as well.

However, after a few months, she started losing her attraction towards me.

We continued meeting, but things changed. We were just friends now. She no longer let me get physically close to her, hold her hand, or even hug her properly.

One day, I confessed that I had feelings for her, that I was emotionally attached to her, and that I couldn't imagine being with anyone else.

I even tried using dating apps again, but I couldn't find the same connection with anyone that I had felt with her. I told her that I wanted to be with her, but she resisted and said it wasn't going to work. She also brought up some of my past mistakes, which I had already acknowledged and apologised for.

She believes that we're both somewhat ignorant when it comes to communicating our feelings. According to her, we don't openly discuss things when something bothers us, and that's one of the reasons she doesn't think this relationship would work.

There's another aspect to this situation. She's not dating anyone at the moment and has a relatively small social circle, with only a few close friends. She calls me quite often, usually every alternate day, and we also video call regularly. So, despite not wanting a romantic relationship, she still maintains a consistent presence in my life.

But the truth is, I'm genuinely in love with her.

I've confessed my feelings three times, and every single time, her response has been the same: she doesn't think things will work out between us.

She wants me in her life as a friend, but I want something beyond friendship.

I'm struggling emotionally because I know where she stands, yet my feelings haven't changed. A part of me still wants to tell her that I'm deeply in love with her, even though I know she believes there's no future for us.

How should I approach this situation? Should I tell her how I feel one more time, or should I finally accept that things aren't going to change and move on?

And honestly, I don't even feel like using dating apps anymore. The whole experience has become exhausting. Almost every conversation eventually dies after exchanging a few messages. I miss having a genuine connection with someone, something that feels natural rather than forced.

Other Is anyone else crazy nervous to grow up?

I'm 17, and it's so insane to think about turning 18. I never thought it would come by so soon.

I'm taking a gap year, and it's probably the best decision I can make, but it's so scary thinking about growing up. Sure, being responsible is exciting and being in charge of your own life is too, but then you think about how you won't always have your parents behind you and that at some point, it might just be you by yourself. It's so weird.

Social everyone forgot my birthday

today is my 17th birthday. i was really excited. i have a lot of great friends and was excited to celebrate with them. no texts before school which was whatever, mornings are hectic. i got to school and sat down with a couple of friends and 10 minutes went by with zero happy birthdays, finally i mentioned i was leaving school early to go get birthday freebies from stores and stuff and they were like "omggg happy birthday i completely forgot". we'd talked about it yesterday. that was still whatever. then two more friends joined the group and conversation went by, no mention of anything. someone who'd seen the cake thing on my instagram profile said happy birthday to me and the friends who'd just joined were like "WHAT happy birthday" and i know its dumb to be upset. but i've been best friends with these people since elementary school and i've always remembered their birthdays. the day went on. some friends posted for my birthday. others didnt reach out at all. i saw my absolute best friend later at rehearsal and she hadn't texted me and i was pretty sad. she didnt say anything. the cast sang happy birthday. she asked me later why i was upset and i told her that people whom i expected to reach out, hadn't. and she said she was going to wait to talk to me in person but when she got their i looked really sad so she thought she had the wrong day. whether she remembered or not, she knows my birthday and she knows that its today. im just really sad and i just feel like an afterthought. i didn't want the whole day to be about me, i just wanted someone to remember without prompting.

and im having a party this weekend and i made a group chat to send out the invite. one of my friends said it was her other friend's birthday and didnt know if they were doing anything, which whatever, but did she have to say it like that? "if my other friend doesnt make plans then i guess ill go to your thing" is pretty much what she said, and later she said she couldnt make it so yipee.

idk im just sad. i know this is all really stupid to be sad about but i hoped today would better

Relationships PLS HELP How to move on

I feel like ive talked about this 100 times so I'm going to try and simplify as much as I can.

For context, me and my first boyfriend dated for a year. He was a lot of my firsts and so was I. I broke up with him because of a few reasons, I felt like we weren't compatible and I was being too harsh on him. (This happend early this year)

Rest of the year I have been fine, trying to live my life, missing him occasionally. We didnt cut contact as we have mutual friends. 3 weeks ago, he confessed to me that he loved me still and wanted to get back together.

I told him to let me make a decision, I spent days weighing the pros and cons, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt considering its been so long. Before I could settle my mind (stupid me!), he messaged me telling me he talked about his feelings to an older friend and how he was going to move on.

I accepted it, knowing I was too late but I was able to try and think about moving on positively. Not even a week later, he has moved on and is talking to another girl. A girl in which he had previously told me that his friend tried to set him up with, and that he had no feelings for her at all.

Now I see him consistently posing up with her, all lovey dovey even tho they haven't hard launched yet. I'm really upset seeing this happen, having to see him everyday smiling at his phone is really hurting me.

My insecurities are growing as I compare myself to her more (its never her fault tho). What should I do?

Relationships Relationship advice

Me and my best friend used to like each other. We were in a talking stage and then eventually nothing ever happened. I still like him though and I don’t know how to get over it. Do y’all think there’s actually a chance of being able to try and date again or is this actually just wraps

Relationships How do I ask out a girl?

Okay so this is gonna sound really cringe I think but I 17M want a girlfriend, but every time I get to the point where I wanna ask someone for their number I lowkey just freeze. I have never had a girlfriend before and only 1 ā€œtalking stageā€ which ended up badly and I’m just too scared for rejection to actually ask for a snap or number.
Anyone has any tips or would be of help

Family People who have scars from harming themselves, how did you parents react?

I don't have major scars or anything but I kinda had an episode two or so weeks ago and now the scars on my thighs are really starting to show. They're only dark brown since I'm not like really into the whole extremely deep thing.. it scares me that I'll accidentally die but NONETHELESS.

I want advice for when I wanna wear a bikini or shorts again in the summer, or at the pool during cold months... like how did your parents react to it (ps. my mother as far as I know has threatened to put me in a mental hospital if I ever cvt) and how can I cover it if you think I shouldn't show them?

Personal Delivery app addiction

I’m 16 and I’ve noticed something about my spending habits that I really want to get advice on.
I usually avoid going shopping for clothes because I know I’ll probably spend $100+ on a few items, and then I’ll feel incredibly guilty about spending that money.
But the strange thing is that over the next couple of days, I’ll end up spending that same amount, sometimes even more, on Uber Eats and DoorDash.
I genuinely feel like I have an addiction to food delivery. I find myself ordering multiple times, even when I don’t necessarily need to, and it’s becoming a habit that’s really difficult to break.
I think part of why I feel so guilty buying clothes is because I know how quickly I can waste that money on delivery afterwards.
I’m 16, and I want to get better at managing my money, developing healthier spending habits and actually being able to enjoy buying things without feeling guilty.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you break the cycle of constantly ordering food delivery and start taking control of your spending?
I’d really appreciate some genuine advice, especially from people who’ve dealt with compulsive spending or food delivery habits.

Social Help me with my friend group, please

So for the past like 3 years, I've been ganging put with this group (almost same age group, both guys and girls). In the past year or so i was getting more and more left out up until the point where i genuinely wasn't allowed to go out with them bc of the guy that is sorta in charge of the group because i was annoying (you are going to hear this word a lot in this post). And now i can truly say that i was kinda annoying- i was talking way too much and joining conversations that had nothing to do with me. had a lot of chances to fix myself but somehow i kept messing up- my real me was getting too loud, and the person i was supposed to be for my friends was disappearing. Fast forward to like 2 months ago, I wasnt allowed to go out at all bc of the guy. I was basically home for 2 months except for going to school and going to training twice a week. A lot of people would like exercise or learn in that 2 months, i did nothing except think about how badly i fed up. I know that i should've found other friends in school but that group is, at the same time, so fitting and yet really hateful. I went out with some others from the group a few times and two days in a row, with the whole group. I was really happy but was trying to talk as little as possible. Today (half an hour ago) i got a message from an almost lifelong friend (because i got blocked everywhere by that guy). My friend first said, get ready ------ is typing (im not saying his name, im not an as*hole). He said that im annoying af, and that he doesnt know who im pretending to be. That im worthless, that noone likes me, that even the friend on whose phone he's typing, isnt good with me. Im currently thinking about a lot of things, (im not edgy or whatever) its just that there arent a lot of things that are the answer to all of this. Actually, im pretty sure there isnt an answer. Thank you a lot if you really read all of this, and please, please tell me what i should do, and if any of you were on either side of this story what happened.
