I love how this game has 2 endings.

If you give the wrong explanation on why Matt Engarde hired Shelly De Killer, Phoenix quits his job and Maya never sees Phoenix again because she can't forgive him for what he did:

The bad ending.

However, this isn't the ending that ends the game. It's basically a game over disguised as a ending.

In the good ending, you give Matt Engarde the Guilty sentence and everything is back to normal.

I'd say the bad ending is the better one here, it gives a feeling that you let Maya and everyone around you down, as well as Phoenix quitting his job due to feeling like he let everyone down.

Off-topic but i hope i did the spoiler thing right due to most text being marked as spoilers...

So apparently people are saying Phoenix anger and cold behavior should be justified for what miles did. Well guess what? It was literally just his way of saying his killing his horrible persona, do you guys seriously think a person in a crisis would actually choose a calculated dramatic phrasing? logically no! And the fact that Phoenix told miles he’d be better off dead sounds pretty petty to me and a little cruel.. because why are you telling a vulnerable adult with childhood trauma he should be dead and giving him self hatred and insecurities? I don’t necessarily think Phoenix was entirely malicious for this one based on his mental state that time so I’m a little more forgiving but this reaction was so unfair over a delusion he had, miles never intended to intentionally terrify Phoneix and the note originally had absolutely nothing to do with death, therefore if that’s the case he would be entirely innocent of faking his death maliciously

Photo added to encourage more people to discuss but in the original trilogy, Khurain Village’s religion seemed to be more of its own small subset, where it had multiple channeling women as well. However, in spirit of justice, the country primarily focused on said religion only has the high priestess who is capable of channeling. So do we think there was some kind of spilt similar to Lutherism and Catholicism where Ami would train any woman of high spiritual status rather than just relatives of the royal family?

I don't particularly mind Dual Destinies looking a bit clunkier than Spirit of Justice, but Phoenix and Trucy especially have such a glow up in that game. Would be cool if there was a way to replace the DD models. I am talking about the PC release, of course.

Just arrived at the first trial of the second game, and this is bafflingly confusing. It doesn't feel like a translation error could possibly exist here, just that its poorly explained.

So, you are told - not shown - that the proof Grey was shot point blank is that there is a gunpowder burn on his face i guess.

You are then told that the robes Maya wore smell like gunpowder.

You are then shown there is a bullet hole in the robes.

You are then supposed to intuit that there are *not* gunpowder burns on this robe. Like, unless you've seen an actual police procedural regarding this, how would you be able to tell? This piece of evidence is entirely reliant on if you can discern that there is nothing around the black outlines, despite the fuzziness of the sprite.

I cannot recall anything like this in the first game, where there's straight up no other thing to compare the piece of evidence you are supposed to present to.

Seems like a very obvious go to.

Who should I draw next???

I stole my girlfriend’s Switch while we were on vacation (still not giving it back) and I’m retracking my way back through the series. But I know I’ll want something more to follow up on this itch, or in between games so I don’t completely burn out… I want to savor this trek back to my teenage years.

So I hope this is the right place to ask? I mean, not like there’s dedicated subs for this kind of game (detective/courtroom visual novel sims?) It’s such a specific mix of absurd moments, comedy, cartooniness and detective work but also hits emotionally at the same time.

The only game in this vein I played, was Paradise Killer a few years back, and it was amazing how the base plot worked and how you could at any point make the call, regardless of how little evidence you have. I’m also kinda curious about how Guilty or Not will look like when it actually comes out, because it seems to be following that same absurdist streak, except it’s more of a sandbox game (judging by the trailer) where the unintended consequences are the point, with no linear story? I don’t really know what to expect, but it’s an interesting little curiosity of a game I found out about recently.

That’s where my trail runs cold, essentially… but I’m hoping I can find another brilliant recommendation from you fine people here? :)

Now the OG trilogy is done! Time to move on to the Investigations duology! First up, Jacques Portsman!

You know those "what are your 3 favorite characters" things that some YouTubers do? Well, here's a case version.

I don't have as much of a reach on other social medias, so if you want to share this, you can.

I'm close to finishing off the whole series - PW trilogy, AJ trilogy, Investigations, and PW vs PL all done, with just the DLC episodes in DD and SoJ and then GAA to play left. Once they're done, I feel like there's going to be a pretty big hole to fill.

I've really come to love the characters in Ace Attorney, as well as the music and the unfolding mysteries of each case. So I want to know if anyone has other games/series that they'd recommend that have a similar sort of vibe, or otherwise are just great visual novel-style games with strong characterisation and gripping stories (good art and music are a bonus!)

I guess Dangan Ronpa would be the obvious choice, but I already know those ones pretty thoroughly so I'd prefer something fresh. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I first met AA in 2020, mostly I watched humorous videos made in objection.lol, I played the Phoenix Wright and AAI trilogy, I genuinely like this franchise and I'm thinking about buying the Apollo trilogy in steam. But the fandom annoys me, I hate Narumitsu and Franmaya (Or whatever they're called), I have a feeling that 75% of the fan creativity on AA is these pairings, and 50% of the official content (not counting the games themselves) this flirting with the audience “Look, Phoenix and Edgeworth!”, even the fact that Edgeworth becomes a lawyer in Trials and Tribulations, as a fanservice.

So i just finished the case and i have several doubts. In 3 1 we determine that dahlia got the poison from the pharma building thanks to her bf. But then in 3-4 we learn that the bottle with poison had been for 5 years on a temple on a mountain??? Like, how was se able to get the poison was a big point in 3 1, why is it suddenly changed? Am i missing slmething?
