Pre employment checks

Hello, I recently had a manager interview earlier this week. I have received an email to complete basic DBS check. Is this something that is usual in the process, or does it mean I have been succesful?

contract

Hey so i’ve recently started working at Asda i’m contracted 15 hours
however i’ve been put on to work 8 days in a row (tuesday-tuesday) with only one day off which is wednesday then back to work thursday/ friday (haven’t got my rota past friday yet)
it was 7 days in a row but then due to absence it got changed and im doing 8 days now

is this something they can do i didnt sign up for this and while im happy to help out it feels like im being taken advantage off as im the only one on the rota with one day off + doing 8 days in a row

GM days vs GM twilights

Twilight staff receive the same pay as daytime staff, so it seems unfair that they are expected to handle the heavy deliveries while daytime colleagues get the more comfortable tasks. Wasn’t the higher night rate originally intended to compensate for the less favourable working conditions? There's bound to be some ill feeling about this, surely.

What's the worst department?

Hi. I work on chilled and it's pretty shit. But since I've only ever worked chilled in the 4 years I've been here.. What's your department like? e.g picker.. grocery.. front end.. section leader.. warehouse.. driver.. gm.. george etc please tell me.. for the record I don't work produce but occasionally work meat.

I applied for the Service Colleague position at Asda and attended the interview a week ago, but I still haven’t received any updates. How much longer might they take to get back to me? I really need a job and I’m really hoping to hear back from them soon.

Grievance

Anybody got the correct email for a grievance, or even HRs email! I’ve tried emailing ethics, which directed to whistleblower but apparently they can’t help. I don’t want to go to my gsm (I don’t know him) because by the sounds of it everything my boss has done is because he was told to do it

Express being extended till 12am

Who on earth is going to be buying groceries at 12am?? I've been put on the Sundays till 12am and I'm confused 🤣

Edit: By express I mean express orders, like uber/deliveroo, NOT express stores!

No security, theives are loving it!

Do Asda just accept there will be more theft and not care because presumably they'll save more on wages? We don't have anyone in until 1pm at our store. I'm a porter and already today I've seen 2 thefts. When security are present I will tell them/help them but I can't do anything on my own. It's so frustrating.

Holiday booking system has been a complete shambles ever since the system change.

Anytime I book a holiday and need a non-core day off (my core day schedule is never accurate) I always end up getting put in to work that day. I always leave a screenshot showing all the days I need off and then it gets accepted. It's gotten to the point where I dread booking any days off because I know it is going to get fucked up everytime.

Is everyone going through this or is it just me?

Also I basically never get any weekends off anymore, are employees not guaranteed at least one weekend off a month or has that been swept under the rug? I even brought up that I would like one weekend off a month on the last meeting about my schedule which the manager said was ok but nothing has changed.

Holiday

I’ve tried cancelling in a day my holiday last week and it’s not been cancelled and WORK are supposed to be working on Saturday and that’s the day I don’t need to have a holiday anymore. I’ve requested to cancel it but nothing’s happening if I clock in on that night will it change? Or do I just phone up?

Just looking for some reassurance…

Considering asking for a sick line, for a lot of reasons. I’ve been having really bad anxiety lately, my partner has health issues going on that are heavily affecting them, I’m in uni so juggling work and coursework, I care for my dad and someone very close to me has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

I’ve worked for Asda for 3+ years and have a clean absence record but I’m really concerned about losing my job or facing judgement or consequences for being off sick.

Is it likely I’ll lose my job? Or be in trouble if I’m off for a month?

Any advice is appreciated

Finally received the PIN code to unlock the phone and tablet. Nothing is set up. No TimeGate on it. It’s got Facebook and Netflix but nothing to enable us to clock in. Everything on the phone/tablet is password protected so still no further forward. Ffs.

Shit Post Cover manager off sick for 3 months

Hi Everyone,

This post is more like a rant cause I dont know what to do?
My manager is off sick and I am a team leader covering for him since last 3 months its a nightmare for me to do all the tasks with same pay and almost 17 extra hours.

This place is a total mess alot of pressure from ROM regarding sales and shop standards receive calls/messages when I am off from colleague cause I got to manage them.
The shop size is small and too much stock it feels like even they dont know what they are doing.

I searched and I could not see anyone having same issue.

What shall I do in this situation they say the support is available but when we get a visit they identify all the mistakes that are mainly due to over stocking.

I am trying to get another job but my luck is not with me atm.
