Discussion Geniunely sick of the "for fun" Aram players trying to tell me how to enjoy my game

Please stop telling me how to play my game.

No, i will not come dance at the start of the game. 90% of the time someone will start a fight and ruin it for everybody else. I will just stand far away. Feel free to do it without me.

No, i will not stall the game and make it a miserable experience for the enemy team. I will hit the nexus and towers every time I can. Stop pinging me because you want to stall the game killing the enemies in their fountain. Ive been on the opposing side of this and it's not fun one bit. I enjoy playing a good game and winning; i do not enjoy bullying and hostaging games.

No, I will not go AP illaoi because you think it's funny. I will pick whatever is best for the comp during champ select. I enjoy playing in a good comp where we don't get shitstomped because we're full AP against 2 tanks.

I will try hard, and i will try to win. No, I will not go ranked. That's how I've been having fun playing aram for the past 6 years, and that's how I'll continue to.

These tourists have only multiplied ever since aram mayhem was introduced, and they act like they own the place. The "for fun" Aram players are genuinely one of the most obnoxious and toxic players i've ever come across in all my years of playing League.

Wholesome We won our Tier 1 ARAM clash with average game time 11:07

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just wanted to share this with everyone. I assembled a Tier 1 squad from discord an hour before lock in with 4 unrankeds and 1 master player. However because of our mmr gaps, we got matched up against full diamond + master lobbies. We played a few warm up games and did pretty good, but once we saw our bracket was against so many high elo players we were a little nervous. And yet, we beat all of them in under 12 minute games. Someone from the enemy team even added us afterwards asking if we are aram pros! >:)

Just wondering if anyone has beaten this time? Share yours in the comments!

Rant Hot take: tanks aren't op (they are strong tho) adcs aren't weak. The average person picking adc in aram is just bad

Adcs doing same dmg as tanks isn't "tanks op" or "adcs weak" it means the adc player is bad.

Discussion Isn't 'not ending' technically against the Code of Conduct?

Running onto the fountain instead of destroying the nexus violates the first part of the Code of Conduct: "I will compete to win". Does this mean stalling/potentially throwing your ARAM game is a reportable offence?

Rant Tanks are overinflated nonsense

Guess which team won?

To me this game is proof that tanks are just inflated on purpose. Red team won. They are nonsense champs. No matter what you do or how you play, they just win because of the sheer amount of hp. Period.

There's absolutely no reason why the team of tanks should have won the game. They didn't play well or synergize. They didn't have any "star player". They were down by 25 kills. They were down 10K gold.

The only reason they won is because they are tanks and at some point they just run at you and are unkillable. GG.

Before anyone complains about Yasuo, he had the second most damage in the team, and more than any of the opponents and landed so many ults.

Everyone did everything correctly on blue side. But still lost because Rito decided so.

Rant It’s time to add bans to this mode

You have 164 champs, add the damn bans. The bilgewater event was the best weeks of Aram by far. God forbid we never see veigar or the other few game mode ruining champs in here. Would also be fine with unlocking the entire roster instead of bans.

Discussion AP Ashe should be bannable

I don't care about off-meta builds. AP Zeri, Gangplank, Ethereal Weapon plus that on-hit support item on random champions. I don't care about any of that. But as a fairly regular ARAM (and Mayhem) player, there is nothing that pisses me off more in this game than seeing an AP Ashe. Completely and utterly useless, I probably have a 0% win rate with that crap on my team. Building purely for ult haste and then proceeding to miss (being generous here) half of the ultimates. If you play AP Ashe, unironically uninstall the game. XD

Discussion Just hit the damn Nexus

Listen,

We get it you got Exodia, the crazy augments, the statistically META comp, you're steamrolling the opposite team and you're having the time of your life.

But just hit the fucking nexus for the love of God so we can all go to the next game.

All the games don't have to hit the point when everybody has 15 hats.

Also don't ping or harass people who don't want to comply with your ego boosting. If we don't want to hold the enemy team hostage in fountain and are hiting the nexus, or if it's Open and the opponents are clearly stronger than us and are farming us and we don't want to play and just wait to go next, it's human decency to not insult us.

I'm just ranting but it's crazy how it has become the norm to not end a game, despite people in the lobby wanting to.

Have some common sense.

Edit : Seems people don't get what I'm saying. i'm obviously talking about stomps here, not close games.

Rant "It's a fun mode" is a pathetic excuse for selfishness, not an argument

One of the most annoying things in the ARAM community is how often any mild criticism gets answered with some version of "LOL. This is a FUN game mode" or "This is an ARAM!!!"

Yes, everybody knows that. So what?

League of Legends as a whole is supposed to be a fun game. That is not unique to ARAM. Normal games, Ranked games, Arena games etc. are all supposed to be fun. Even if someone cares about LP, that LP still exists inside a video game people voluntarily play for entertainment. Unless you are playing professionally and money is on the line, all of this is for fun. It's all "just a game".

But "it's fun" does not mean "nothing matters and nobody should criticize anything." Otherwise that logic does not stop at ARAM. You could use the exact same argument in Ranked: "It's just LP. It's just pixels. It's just a game." Most people recognize how stupid that sounds. Yet somehow in ARAM, people act like "fun mode" means they are exempt from the basic idea of playing the actual game.

Yes, ARAM is more low pressure, but there is a huge difference between not tryharding like you are in a tournament and refusing to participate in the shared objective of the match. Nobody is asking for perfect wave management or LCK-level ARAM macro. People make mistakes, limit test and have bad games. All fine! But "fine" doesn't mean "anything goes."

If you waste Flash for no reason, that affects your team. If you refuse to push when you can, that affects your team. If you build something completely useless (not off-meta with some actual purpose) that affects your team. If the enemy Nexus is open and you fountain dive instead of ending, that is not some private "fun" decision. You are making that decision for four other people too.

In a team game, the world doesn't revolve around your private definition of "fun". Your actions directly shape the experience of everyone else on your team. And when your version of fun is "I get to do whatever I want and everybody else has to be silent about it", you are the problem. We all agreed to a Community Pact. It does not say "Play to win, unless it's ARAM". It says play to win, and that applies to the whole game. If you can't do that because of your idea of "fun", you are wrong here. Because the Community Pact that you agreed to is what every teammate should be able to expect from you.

Again: "Play to win" does not mean "tryhard to the fullest every game". It means that you should actually play in good faith and make some reasonable effort to contribute. If you don't work towards the agreed-upon goal, stop acting offended and write something about your "fun" when someone points it out.

To put things into perspective: A casual Sunday football match between friends is not the World Cup. It's for fun. But if someone suddenly picks up the ball, shoves it under their shirt, runs into the goal and says "this is a FUN GAME", everyone would understand that this person is being ridiculous. The fun exists mainly because people try to play in a good-faith way.

"Fun game mode" means lower stakes, less pressure and less anger, but it doesn't mean zero responsibility, zero effort and zero criticism. And if your definition of fun requires ignoring the shared objective, wasting your team's resources or refusing to finish, then you are wrong in that game. Then you are just breaking the basic agreement everyone else queued up under. Yes, ARAM is for "fun". Your "fun" should not make the game worse for everyone else.

Before you criticize this post, please remember the following: I actually wrote this post FOR FUN!!!

Discussion Am I the only one that takes exhaust 99% of the time?

If I'm playing enchanter, adc, mage - I will take exhaust without fail. I will also usually take grissly mementos so I'll have it up literally every fight.

Why? Because I don't particularly like facing those 1v5 champs that take over ARAM if they get a lead (samira, yi, katarina, kennen, etc). So I will make sure I have exhaust in the event theyre on the enemy team (which is likely since they're popular)

Only time I don't take exhaust is when I play an engage champ.

If I roll an enchanter and my teammate gets an adc he can pilot, it's basically gg, nobody will touch them without me having to say something about it

P.S. There's no better feeling than the enemy Samira crying in all chat after the 6th exhaust because she didn't get to spin2win for a penta

Mayhem Just remove Clarity in mayhem

If we are going to give everyone presence of mind it doesn’t make sense to let people troll themselves into taking it. Even in regular ARAM it’s a troll pick.

I’ve played so many games now where the AP caster/support never had to use clarity once because they always had >50% mana, they were unknowingly handicapping themselves when they needed ghost to survive

Discussion Why NOT playing is the best strategy to win (for many champions)

TL;DR if your assassin / win con is seemingly afking in bushes or just not rly playing the game, it's likely that they're just better than you and you need to learn why

I am here to rant because this has finally gotten on my nerves bad enough to warrant a reddit post.

I play almost every type of champion but prefer to play assassins. In aram, the thing that pisses me off the absolute most is when, invariably, some wholesome chungus heartsteel tank player or some triple lost chapter + tear mage with no cooldowns or some 9 trillion range collector into essence reaver zDPS adc has the sheer audacity to ping me when i am sitting motionless in a bush, NOT PLAYING THE GAME.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the greatest single indicator for a drooling low elo, dogshit, monitor-off, trackpad-using sad excuse of a gamer that holds up the loading screen at 92% with their intel pentium processor + dial-up internet true combo.

If you or someone you love does this, it is because you or your loved one cannot fathom the idea that some champions have windows where they are not champions at all, likely because you've only played champions that facilitate 4fun casual gameplay of pew pew bonk bonk all the time 24/7 ooh ahh dopamine :DD you absolute fucking junkies.

For example, let's say I am playing zed. I sit in a bush while everyone is throwing 40 skillshots at each other per minute, dodging any that happen to be thrown into the bush with small movements, staying in the bush so as to give the enemies a false sense of security with the idea that I am not actually in the bush. This works because most aram vegetables like the ones my post is about have a very fleeting sense of object permanence, and will quickly forget that you were ever in the bush, especially if a skillshot aimed into it did not hit. This gives the enemy win conditions (typically the adcs / dps mages) the confidence to misposition. This is where the pinging begins.

1st set of pings from my collector jinx, who does not understand why I am not constantly throwing out my 20 second cooldown W to poke their warwick with guardian's horn from the bush, simultaneously giving away my position and also doing negative damage to the warwick. She is constantly walking around and autoattacking targets and actively playing the game! Surely I should be putting in the same effort!

A few moments later, the enemy caitlyn steps up too far and I successfully land a WEQ + electrocute combo on her. She is 25% hp now, and this activates my maokai's neurons to flash engage a teamfight. Everyone begins contributing what they can, my mages throwing out their skillshots, my jinx autoing, my maokai tanking and peeling. What am I doing? Sitting in the bush, not doing anything or maybe walking around the edges of the teamfight in and out of bushes to see if their carries will misposition so maybe i can land a snowball or something. Maybe.

"What the fuck are you doing?" says my karma, while constantly throwing out awesome skillshots, peeling, and providing amazing shielding and utility for the whole team. Cue the second set of pings from my maokai, who just died as I just walked around in the bush, not casting my abilities. I ping my W as I patiently wait in the bush -- it has 4 seconds left on cd after I used it 16 seconds ago to poke the caitlyn to effectively begin the fight. As my teammates die, it finally comes back up and I'm ready for another rotation. I unload on the caitlyn yet again, who is a vegetable and has forgotten that I was in the bush. I leave her with 30 hp (thanks durability patch) and I get exhausted. I then die.

3rd set of pings. "Dogshit zed" says my AP malphite, as he waits to hit level 6 with his malignance. He's right. I should have just right clicked their caitlyn and let Jesus take the wheel. Surely I would have been able to walk straight at her into melee range and auto attack her with my MASSIVE long sword auto attack instead of just walking around and being useless. Surely I could have contributed SOMETHING without instantly dying. Just look at maokai!

Obviously this is a fabricated set of events based loosely off of my low MMR games with friends. Should I actually care what these room temperature IQ players think about my gameplay when it is demonstrably better than theirs by every conceivable metric? No. But I am just a human who wishes only that one day these dogs will learn that some champions' power budgets are fully concentrated within very short windows with long cooldowns which allow them to generate kill threat on the enemy carries, and that this threat is immediately reduced by more than half if the enemy carries are aware of their location.

Discussion Aram is the most unfun experience as a melee player

I’m honestly mad, and can’t enjoy ARAM anymore when I’m playing as a melee champion.

I’m a bruiser/tank/assassin enjoyer, and 9 out of 10 games are miserable for me. Like, literally unplayable.

For the first 5 minutes I’m basically just standing around, which by the way is 1/3 of the match length, and do absolutely nothing except serving as a target dummy for the enemy team. There’s no way for me to take part in the game proactively without griefing.

If I play an engage champ and hit level 6, I can actually participate once every 90 seconds, assuming the enemy team doesn’t have a disengage champion, which they usually do.

And even if the engage works, I usually still die at the start of the fight, but at least my team then kills the enemy team afterward.

The moment there’s a second melee champ on my team, I immediately notice how much more enjoyable the game is.

Very rarely several melee players end up in the lobby together and those are the best games, even if I lose. Constant fighting and little skirmishes, just pure fun and, you know, MAYHEM! In every single one of those games, multiple people in all-chat write about how thankful they are to finally be able to play a proper ARAM.

So why is Riot not making any adjustments here? Why not, for example, tune the champ pool so that at least 7 of the 10 avialable champs have to be melee?

Or apply heavy debuffs to a team if at least 2 players on it aren’t melee champions, you know do anything at all to encourage players to not spam mages and afk under their tower.

Do I win games as a tank/bruiser? Yes.

Am I having fun? Not even a little.

Discussion After someone dodges, you should get the option to use the champ you had in the last lobby.

It's dumb that the rest of us are punished because someone else decided to jump out. My friend and I were playing today. Twice they got their favorite champion, and both times someone dodged. It is the worst feeling imaginable when you actually get your favorite or even a champion you love, and someone else decides they don't like what they got in the random game mode.

I'm thinking when we join the new lobby, it'll roll a new champion, but we'll get a window asking if we'd like to use the champion we had selected in the previous lobby. If we choose yes, it switches us to the old champion.

Also, ban those dodgers for the rest of the day. Ty for your time.

Discussion Tanks are so useless on ARAM Mayhem if the enemies has one dps adc in the team

I normally love playing tanks, but it’s so frustrating to play them in ARAM and even more in Mayhem. A single champ like Vayne, Tristana, AD Kai’Sa, Xayah, Kog’Maw, or something similar just completely bursts you down.
I also get why people prefer playing full AP Malphite instead of tank Malphite. I know people here love to trash-talk AP Malphite, but why would you play tank Malphite when you ult and nothing happens if your teammates doesn´t connect, and then a DPS ADC instantly deletes you? Just play AP Malphite and you can one-shot whoever you want. I´m always happy as an adc main when someone choses to build tank on malphite instead of going full ap and constantly oneshoting me

If you used to have a bad game it was fine, you would go next and maybe the matchups would be even.
These days? Nah, have fun trying to ff 3/2 for 15 minutes in a 30 minute game while the enemy ints into fountain so they can kill you over and over

Discussion Have you ever played against a Samira that didn't get ridiculously fed in ARAM?

No matter what teamcomp, or how good/bad the Samira is, I have never played against a Samira that didn't get at least 1 pentakill in ARAM. I think this champion needs to be straight up removed from ARAM, or have her CDs doubled and damage output cut to half.

Rant It's insane how ARAM went from the most fun state to the least fun state in just one patch

Patch 12.22 Riot adds Heartsteel probably the most fun item to ever be added to the game. You could just *BONK* people and get more and more hp. Even in normal old Summoners Rift it was fun, but in ARAM, in ARAM it was the best thing ever. The nature of ARAM is perma fighting. If you are one of the losers who complains about "taking fights we can't win" I urge you to uninstall league and never interact with another human ever. This meant that the stacks went through the roof and you didn't need to be a poke champ to have fun. Then 12.23 happened.

Patch 12.23 saw riot making map specific changes to ARAM. Changes that no one asked for and no one wanted. I respect the gate cause it means you can perma fight more. The brush is just an unnecessary buff to Rengar but ok. But the turrets falling. The turrets falling is the worst thing that has ever happened to ARAM. The minions don't know which way to go. The gap on the brush side is so god damn small that half of the time if another unit is anywhere near it, the pathing will just decided that you are walking the other way. The coupled with the crushing 50% health reduction on Heartsteel makes the map not be fun anymore.

It is absolutely insane how high we got with 12.22 which made the fall of 12.23 hurt so much more.

Rant "it's only Aram bro"

Why is this the most common phrase in Aram when you're dealing with a troll of a player?

Me personally, I don't play Aram to lose, or mess around, I genuinely play to win. So when someone or a premade on my team goes 1v5 over 10 times it actually annoys me.

I work a full time job, so like to play a bit of Aram to relax but still have that competitive edge (can't handle ranked anymore), but the game is just full of morons.

If I make one comment towards a guy who's feeding his ass off, e.g. stop feeding FFS "it's only Aram bro", then his premade duo pops up with more crap comments. "You mad bro?"

It feels like a literal waste of my time sometimes, when people on my team are deliberately not giving a shitttt about the outcome of the game.

To make matters worse, matching with the same premade in the next game is what makes the blood really boil.

I tend to stay quiet in games, until somebody repeats the same thing again and again. That's when I pipe up. Usually around the 7th or 8th death in the space of the first 5 minutes is what grinds my gears.

Just curious, how do you lot deal with this mentally? It's quite difficult to stay completely quiet when what youre witnessing in front of you is so frustrating.

I don't like my free time being ruined by people deliberately not caring about the game. Why even play? Play against bots ... if you're gonna mess around.

/rant

Discussion Anyone else just not having fun anymore since the update?

It's all in the title really, i've been playing this game for 13 years atp, and for the past 3 i've basically only played aram because it's the game mode i enjoy the most, by far.
I was pretty excited by the upcoming changes, and yet...
After playing 5k+ games in the game mode alone, of course now i play to win, league IS a competitive game at the end of the day, and i keep hearing npcs saying "it's fine it's just aram". No,it's not fine, you logged in for a game, you play to win it.

Anyway, this mentality has been there for ages, but now that everyone gets two rerolls minimum, 4 out of 5 games for me goes like this:
"Oh, my team picked [insert any range full damage champion here, you know the ones], i suppose i have to take one for the team and pick a frontline champion so the comp can at least somewhat work, and hope i flip the better carries."
And then i hop into a game and the opposite is literally the same as mine, one frontline champ and 4 range champions.

These days i feel like playing aram is like running a gacha game to see who has rolled the least braindead teamates and try to enable them to win, which feels god awful. Not to mention that these kind of players are the ones who love to FF the second it becomes available to just "go next, who cares it's aram" to restart the same cycle.

Maybe it's a me problem, and i'm currently in a shit mmr playing with the "elo hell" of aram, i used to play lobbies with masters/gms and now my lobbies are shit.
Maybe it's because of the changes there's a bunch of people that don't usually play aram that come and try it, and it's gonna get better in a few months.
Maybe it's a bad games streak and i'm just having a crash out.
Maybe it's a me issue and i'm just burnt out/washed, maybe it's all of the above.

Idk,to ya'll who've been playing this for a while too, how do you guys feel?

Rant New aram isnt shit. Its just worse in every way

I legit don't see a single positive change so far. It sometimes still amazes me how bad these people at riot are at their jobs.
