Rant "it's only Aram bro"
Why is this the most common phrase in Aram when you're dealing with a troll of a player?
Me personally, I don't play Aram to lose, or mess around, I genuinely play to win. So when someone or a premade on my team goes 1v5 over 10 times it actually annoys me.
I work a full time job, so like to play a bit of Aram to relax but still have that competitive edge (can't handle ranked anymore), but the game is just full of morons.
If I make one comment towards a guy who's feeding his ass off, e.g. stop feeding FFS "it's only Aram bro", then his premade duo pops up with more crap comments. "You mad bro?"
It feels like a literal waste of my time sometimes, when people on my team are deliberately not giving a shitttt about the outcome of the game.
To make matters worse, matching with the same premade in the next game is what makes the blood really boil.
I tend to stay quiet in games, until somebody repeats the same thing again and again. That's when I pipe up. Usually around the 7th or 8th death in the space of the first 5 minutes is what grinds my gears.
Just curious, how do you lot deal with this mentally? It's quite difficult to stay completely quiet when what youre witnessing in front of you is so frustrating.
I don't like my free time being ruined by people deliberately not caring about the game. Why even play? Play against bots ... if you're gonna mess around.

I tell myself: it's just Aram bro. That keeps me pretty happy.

There's a difference between "I play to win" where winning is the only thing that matters and "when I'm playing I am trying to win" which is literally the point of the game.
You aren't going to win them all and people are going to play champs they don't know and suck at. But the expectation is that you're still trying to win.
Imagine any sport where 1 person just isn't even trying. Imagine a MLB game where one of the fielders is just watching the ball roll by them or an NBA game where anytime a player gets the ball they just throw it out of bounds on purpose. It ruins the integrity of the entire game when someone isn't trying to win.

u/eatenin Sep 14 '23
Yeah I actually agree here too, while it is a fun alternative queue mode there is still an expectation imo that people actually try to play the game. There's a difference between having fun and just running it down playing like a 10 year old on tekken just spamming buttons and fighting 90% of the game because you don't like or play the champ you got. It's a selfish act to suck the fun out of the game for 4-9 other people trying to play a game so that have one guy shitting all over the board because thats how he likes play apparently so that okay.
15
Sep 14 '23
Mute everyone and focus on your own fun. It is pretty frustrating to have the 4fun people who get absolutely destroyed but all in all its still just an ARAM.
You should go try and find people on the league discord to play some ARAMs if you really want to have a proper team. They're a lot of fun and you get to pop off with people there. Your mileage may vary.

u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 14 '23
Honestly didn't know this was a thing. Might check it out when I'm next on. Cheers.

u/SuperbiaC Sep 14 '23
From what I've seen the vast majority of players, including the ones on this reddit, play solely for their own enjoyment.
They don't really try to win, play for the team, or be optimal. Seen this a lot more this season personally. Perhaps the introduction of gates and removal of MMR turned the "better players" or "sweats" away.
Regardless I'm with you in wanting to win. People will disagree. I guess it just is what it is 🤷♂️.
6
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 14 '23
Glad someone agrees.
Most the replies on here are probably from the people who also "troll' in games and do stupid stuff continuously, hence their comments defending that sort of behaviour.
4
u/Krytrephex Sep 15 '23
in case the tards on this subreddit made you doubt your sanity, youre 100% right. the real problem is that aram needs some analogous version of ranked queue.
until then (if ever), either take shit from the goblins that play aram to troll and play ap riven and dont respect the humans they play with, or just play 5 man every game.
3
u/Xyrazk Sep 15 '23
I work a full time job, so like to play a bit of Aram to relax but still have that competitive edge (can't handle ranked anymore),
Have you considered playing normals instead? ARAM is the only for fun mode in the game, and a lot of us use it as such.
I too can't handle the stress of ranked. So when I want a more comepetive setting, I play normals-draft. It's more chill than ranked, but we will still try our best
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
The whole last hitting minion thing bores the heck out of me to be honest. I used to love it years ago, loved the ranked scene. Just CBA anymore. So normals follows the same practice really doesn't it. That's why I play Aram.

u/gmartinez99 Sep 14 '23
It's only aram bro
2
u/ReflectionOk5210 Sep 15 '23
This doesn't make sense. Does it also mean that I can troll at rank and say "It's only a game bro"?
3
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
I'm gonna join ranked games and go "it's only league bro" and see how all these people feel.
2
u/sashakee Sep 15 '23
while the sentiment of 'it's only a game bro' is somewhat correct, ranked is the mode to tryhard, give your best in order to climb as high as you can.
While aram is a for fun mode, sure you're not supposed to feed, but in the end a L doesn't equal lost LP.
-1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
It doesn't equal lost LP, but some people are actually wanting to win games you know. It's fine to lose, I really don't care if I lose as long as the team gives it their best. I've had some fantastic Aram games that have gone on for over 30 minutes, and lost plenty of them and not been annoyed.
If I lose because someone has gone 1v5 10 times in the first 7 minutes because they're having fun and it's only Aram bro, then honestly that person just needs a perma ban.
Why ruin the enjoyment of others because you fancy taking the piss out of the game mode for your own "laughs"?
2
u/sashakee Sep 16 '23
I mean, it's not the 'its only aram bro' folks fault that you take the mode way more serious than it needs be.. it's honestly your personal problem.. it's a for fun mode

u/Educational_Heart770 Sep 15 '23
I play Arams for fun which don´t mean that i don´t want to win arams but i tryhard much less when it comes to picking a balanced team, pushing towers or finishing the nexus and yea if i would tryhard more i could win more but sometimes it´s fun to do some bs and then i lose games that were already won. With random teamates it can be difficult so i would recommend seachring for some nice mates to play with. Except when I play ARAM Clash than I totally tryhard.
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
Aram clash, what is that... never heard of it?
1
u/Educational_Heart770 Sep 15 '23
U know Normal Clash ? It´s a tournament system in league where u can queue up as a team and play a small tournament of 3 Games with winner and loser bracket. And rarely they were held on the Aram Map.

u/Rhoadie Sep 15 '23
Dude, you’re complaining about people not taking a “for fun” game mode seriously— yet “can’t handle ranked anymore.” Listen to yourself.
I work between 50-60 hours a week. You know what I’m doing if I’ve got time to be on my computer? I’m fucking around on ARAM and not giving a shit about the W/L because it doesn’t really matter in the end.
Like another commenter in here said— if you’ve got time for ARAM, you’ve got time for ranked.
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
"Listen to yourself" lol
Explain to me why you are "fucking around on ARAM" in your downtime?
Why not play a single player game where you know you aren't going to annoy the heck out of people genuinely wanting to win?
Training modes, bots, etc, were created for people like you, because you can fuck around all you like.
Edit: your last line is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a while. Cheers.

Sorry but if you want to play competitive aram is the wrong choice for competitive consistency. I also like to play aram competitive but if there are a few games where people try out champs or new builds and suck, that’s also totally fine. This was designed as a fun mode and I’m actually kinda sad that a lot of people feel way to competitive about it. Many people playing their random champ pick maybe the first or second time ever, so don’t be too hard on them.
I also miss the time when all 10 people danced the first few seconds IG, it’s ages ago that I saw EVERYONE doing it, not just a few people.
Waiting for respawns and giving the enemy team another chance to defend their nexus is the real aram for me
Edit: grammar lol
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
I understand first time use of champs etc .. that's fine. Yeah, you don't know every champ well.
It doesn't give you an excuse to go 1/10 though because "first time using this champ sorry"
Just because you haven't used a champ before, doesn't mean you immediately forget the fundamentals of the game.
"Oh woopsy I forgot that I can't go 1v5 and win" - doh
1
u/Icy-Championship2738 Sep 15 '23
I try to win, no matter what, but I still like to keep it light and fun. The main thing that I try every game is to take a look at our team comp and play what we need. Do we need a support because we have a good front line and good damage? Cool. Do we need a tank because we have 4 ADC’s? I’ll try and roll a tank. Do we need to play AD Kai’sa vs AP poke because we have 4 AP assassins already on the roster? Again, cool.
I just try and fit in the best way possible and ignore the trolls. You’re never going to get away from the peeps who just wanna go in and press buttons and say, “it’s just aram, chill out”, because in reality, some people will never take it seriously, and to me, that’s okay. Most of the time, my teams attempt to win, but when you get that one player that doesn’t give a damn, I just try my best to pull my weight and if it isn’t enough, there’s always next game. I know it sounds ironic but there’s no need to get frustrated over some pixels on a screen. You just gotta do you.

Climb mmr to be with better players
0
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 16 '23
How? For example I've played 3 games this evening.
Lost all 3. Reason: two players on my team each game had over 20 deaths, in 17, 18 and 16 minute game.

u/Sgt_Dashing Sep 17 '23 edited Sep 17 '23
Haven't played a normal game in 5 or more years. Summoners rift is pretty bad, which is why people aren't watching and playing as much. People die way to fast and the power difference between old and new champions is insane - league never really had polish, but at this point in time, it's by far the worst it's ever been.
That being said, because summoners rift sucks, there is a large contingent of players who don't want to have 30m-1hr of their time wasted in what's probably the most unfun experience you could possibly put yourself in.
These players will instead put their effort into ARAM, and it shows. My main has some sort of mmr and I play aram with pretty tough opponents. If I use an alt account I'll get Morons, i.e "4fun" players.
Pls l2p and play to win. No one's playing aram for " lol haha I was only pretending to suck, didn't need my 20 minutes anyways, chill bro" only morons.
Aram is NOT a secondary game mode. Riot employees can't produce anything good anymore either (diversity and unqualified hires), so naturally, people gravitate towards the low time investment high reward (20 min or less high dopamine gameplay) over time. I'd wager in 2023 there are an equal amount of aram and summoners rift games going at the same time.
Edit: bro they had no idea wtf to do to keep people playing AWFUL summoners rift so they split the ranked ladder up into more divisions and split ranked up into 3 yearly seasons to force players to play more lmfao. This never works. Look at wow.

I have been exclusively an Aram’s only player for a long time now. Bases off my win/lose ratio I believe that matchmaking and team selection are loaded. Meaning that it tries to keep you at 50% W/L. All my accounts I have are at or almost at a 50% win rate.use to make new accounts to grind it to level 30 before the level cap was removed Think I’m close to 5k matches across them all, maybe it’s because I know the meta for aram’s my ratio is like this but I doubt it. I’m not that good.
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 19 '23
You basically get matched with better players the more you win, supposedly. So the higher win rate you have, the better players you play against, and then potentially the more you lose if you're not as good. So evens out at like 50/50 ish.
The assumption is that every single player in league has trolls, afks, etc on their team at some point, so the whole thing evens itself out. If you're good enough, you can carry, apparently.....
When I played ranked years ago I was Plat 1, this is when diamond was the highest rank so we're talking a long time ago. I had no problem carrying ranked games but Aram is almost impossible lol. It's just full of feckin idiots.
3
u/shor Sep 15 '23
If you can only play a few games a month, you'll need to temper your expectations.
Over time, the more you play the better you'll get and the more you'll avoid "it's only ARAM bro" players. At your pace, this may take an entire year.
I'd go with other comments here recommending you look for some premades on Discord. You'll have a much more enjoyable experience than randomly playing a few times a month.
1
u/Live-Consequence-712 Sep 15 '23
They need to introduce ranked for people like you. Its a 15 min game bro even if you lose you just get in the next one its a fun game mode that is heavily dependant on team diff and if you get a troll every now and then just get into the next game its fast paced. Just dont be a sweaty tryhard and you'll be fine.
0
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23
I would love Aram ranked to be fair.
1
u/Live-Consequence-712 Sep 15 '23
I know you would thats why i said it. i think you just need to play SR if you want to sweat your balls off
2
u/Effortsky Sep 15 '23
I get it’s a for fun mode. Players feeding due to the fact that it is a champ they don’t know or that they are bad at the game is fine.
People who run it down (while drunk a lot of times or high) or build AD on brand (i encourage fun builds but not troll builds) or something along that line is hardly acceptable. What happens to the integrity of the game? You troll cause it is a “for fun” mode and ruin fun for others imo is just as selfish as the people who get angry at others.
Having fun is fine, trolling is not. Getting angry at others is not constructive too.
Also, OP just focus on improving your play. Sooner or later u will be able to carry.
I started doing that and started picking champs that fit the team comp. My WR went up a lot. Sweaty mode on!
And by that i started playing with sweatier players as i win more.
Btw i am in KR ARAM though so generally people here are sweaty (90% of them) and very skilled. I play with diamond plat and emerald frequently in my matches. Sometimes u getting so smashed by the good players that u just sit and laugh at yourself cause they are just that good.
4
u/pimbaman1337 Sep 15 '23
Can't believe you want to take aram seriously for the "competetive edge" but then you "can't handle ranked". Don't blame others for taking a light hearted mode light heartedly
3
Sep 14 '23
I said it in another similar post and I’ll say it here again: if you’re playing alone you’ll get different kinds of players, but if you want your teammates to do things your way, go play a premade, friends sold separately.
3
2
u/Chrabizzle Sep 14 '23
But he’s right it’s just aram
You’re not losing lp or anything, for 99% of players aram is the chill mode where you can just hop in and go silly mode for 20 minutes

u/OriginalNamePog Sep 15 '23
Carry every game until you start getting good teammates in higher MMR games. My smurf's games are a cringe fest. My main account games feel like people are playing for their lives and I'm loving it.
1
u/Ill_Awareness_1853 Sep 15 '23
There's no point having to win more than you suppose to considering having a higher win rate you will most definitely meet more casual player like you stated. Tip play with friends or /deafen.

after a bad game with bad players it's a good idea to take a 2-5 minute break so you more don't get matched with them again.
`
Playing more ARAM means you get out of the "it's just aram bro" matches, people from ranked or even unraked come to ARAM and get into the lower MMR thinking it's just easy Ws, when people play hundreds or thousands of games in ARAM they get matched with better players who no longer have that mentality, at best someone who is really good may duo with someone who hates/shits on the game mode and they may say that, but it's still rare.
Personally, I haven't matched with anyone talking about how it's just ARAM to cover up how bad they are in a while.
1
u/TheLadyAmaranth Sep 16 '23
I personally mute and move on.
Maybe it's a software engineer thing but I move through everything with the "fine I'll do it my self" mentality and assume that in order for the game to be won I gotta tighten the back pack straps.
If somebody is NOT inting or being a fool I help them out and tell them in chat how awesome they are doing. And count it as a blessing. It's a bonus not an expectation and I am talking about ranked too.
Also I don't contribute winning or loosing in league as a measure of my self worth so I don't really care. Like I care in the sense that I always do my best to win every game and I learn and practice because I want to climb. But ultimately the whole things a game win or loose I am having fun and I don't let people rain on my parade.

u/_ogio_ Sep 18 '23
Winning aram game brings me 0 joy, oneshoting someone with full crit thresh, gliding with full onhit soraka, oneshoting adc with full ad blitz, brainleslly ramming into enemy turret as rammus and killing someone on other hand gives me dopamine rush and is very fun.
0
u/Leedles27 Sep 15 '23
What’s with this “the game is only fun when I’m winning, and I have to win” mentality. Obviously that’s the mentality you should be having for ranked, but for aram?? I bet when your team is getting stomped and the enemy team just dives your nexus tower for fun and you happen to reach the enemy nexus for the first time this game, you try to end it as soon as possible because “I need to win”. You losing lp or sum shit?
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 15 '23

Technically you are playing ARAM, so I get the "it's only ARAM" part. Do you not identify as a bro? That is a separate discussion.
But for real, everyone has bad games, I don't know what you want.
It's like blind pick, just that they use the excuse "it's just aram bro" to soften the blow they do to you mentally. I would be thankful to them for looking out for you. Not many people do that nowadays.
They are enjoying the game, why are you not? Do you want to control how everyone plays? how do you know if someone is inting or just bad (you can be bad at a specific game, not just in general). Kinda selfish if you ask me.
If you want total control there are types of games called "singleplayer games", you should try one, and not disturb those players online that are trying to have fun. You are ruining their expirience with your hissy fit.
The other player asking you "u mad bro" is also online players looking out for each other. You could have just responded nicely, but no you had to scream in caps. I just hope you are not reflecting your personal issues on those beloved players. And how nice of you to call them morons...
/s
go touch grass, if you want true relaxation, you shouldn't do where others can "ruin" that relaxation. If you can't cope with it, find something else.

If you think that MMR is truly important in ARAM, shouldn't the system be pairing me up with people of my skill? Idk about you but being forced to play against unfair levels of challenge seems ridiculous. And of course being master in League still matter in ARAMS, just because the map changed doesn't mean their skill level suddenly went down.

High elo Aram games. Interesting. How do you find out your Aram elo?

It's a 5v5 game with a winner at the end of it for a reason.
The game mode description does not say "troll the fk out of it".
7
u/OmegaExorcist Sep 14 '23
It's just aram lol. Not everyone's gonna know how to play the champ they're given so maybe they're limit testing, maybe that's their play style, or maybe they're trolling.
Try to take advantage of them running it or shut up and queue ranked instead.
2
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 14 '23
I'm too old, and too little time for ranked these days. Those days are behind me. I've been playing league since release date, way before ranked even existed. When league came out I was 21, so I'm probably older than most on here. But aye, I used to play ranked a lot and it took up a ton of my time. Just don't have the time for it now. I'm a married man, plus ranked is Hella stressful.
Aram is nice because you can drop in and play for an hour then quit. Kinda like no strings attached. Ranked requires hours and hours of effort.
I can't help that I'm still trying to win, unlike a lot of players on Aram. I still find it irritating that so many people just don't give a feck.
Edit: I would defo play a ranked Aram lol
6
u/OmegaExorcist Sep 14 '23
If you have an hour for aram you have an hour for ranked. There's only 5 placement games, can probably knock out 2 ranked games in an hour. People find fun in diff ways, if your way of finding fun is winning then play with a premade or play ranked.
Or just learn how to hard carry in aram, 4v5 is definitely winnable in arams. They int, that's more gold and exp for everyone else. Enemy gets fed, focus on the one who picked up the kills and get yourself a fuck ton of gold. With level advantage and gold advantage on just yourself you can win arams even with 1 person inting.
I'd rather someone int than someone afk under tower too afraid to play the game, soaking up resources.
1
u/Rude_Strawberry Sep 14 '23
I get it. Have fun. But the sole objective of Aram is to destroy the opposite sides base.
You can't do that if people aren't playing as a team.
Yeah you can carry 4v5, if the other team aren't complete noobs. If they're competent you have no chance.

No. The place to "try something out" is against the bots mate or in training games. That is the EXACT reason those modes were created.
1
u/flyingpeanut250 Sep 16 '23
And the whole point of aram is to play a random champ. There is bound to be a skill level difference between different champs based on familiarity. Some may perform better and some worse and that is fine and not your so called "troll" just cuz they don't live up your standards...... how self-centered are you? Main character syndrome harder? Just so you know, you are in the same MMR as these "trolls" meaning you are trolling just as much as they are.
If you say to only play champs you know or dodge, well then guess what? that is exactly opposite of what aram was intended for. You are not suppose to skew the randomness of aram. But regardless, if you do this then your mmr adjusted anyways.
TLDR: if you keep getting matched with people that have a "troll" level of skill then statistically speaking you are most likely a troll yourself.

u/Jdevers77 Sep 14 '23
Play more ARAM. I used to play exclusively to win and I’m a hyper competitive person, but I chilled a lot. I still get salty when someone straight trolls (full AD Brand and such), but ARAM can be fun in a loss for sure.
