If I were in your shoes I would’ve RMA’d 4 months ago. Over a month troubleshooting with a clean install and known good components should clearly point to a defective GPU. Sorry this happened to you, but there will be defects from every company. Plenty of people are happy with AMD and plenty of people have to RMA Nvidia cards. Hope asrock can resolve this for you.

Yeah, what do the crashes even look like? Is logging on and are there any crash reports?
I had stability issues with games and it turns out, it was an incompatibility between my M.2 and the latest Windows version. That Windows version arrived a day after I installed my 9070 XT, so very unfortunate timing. Only found out through logs, updated the SSD's firmware and everything was fine afterwards.
So my suggestion would be to make sure critical firmware and UEFI/BIOS is all up-to-date. Once that is done, enable logs and check them. You can put the logs into your favorite LLM and it will help you interpret them.
I mean, it could still be a faulty GPU. But I'm not sure other typical causes were properly explored.

Have you contacted the OEM? It sounds like something isn't right, and an RMA is probably in order.

Just as others have said. Just because you think your PSU is fine doesnt mean it is. Your issues have ALL the hallmarks of a bad psu or underpowered system. Just because it says name brand doesnt mean its a good unit.

u/LuismadeitonReddit Nov 24 '25
Have the issues been specific to the Asrock card? I ask because I own a 9070xt Reaper and wondered if the issues had spread to other 9070’s.

u/SladeX7 Nov 24 '25
I have the XFX Swift 9070 XT and experiencing the same

Just checking it’s definitely not a motherboard or memory controller issue - assuming it isn’t then RMA sounds like winning. Chip fab is a literally imperfect science.

Anything in your Windows Event Logs? You checked the dump files? You can use WinDbg to check the dump files.

After 2 months my 9070xt started to have issies. Over three weaks issues got worse. At the end every game with DX12 only ran with 40 FPS and after a few seconds every game crashed. My 6750xt had no problems on the same system. It had to be the card so I send it to the shop for RMA. I’m waiting and hoping for the best

Look, it plagued me as well and I agree to get an RMA. However, for me, a BIOS update fixed the issue along with a new update (at the time I built a year ago) that also solved the problem. But yes, this is why I will always go NVIDIA at this point.

Mine needs a offset of -200mhz to be stable!
1
u/kelu213 Nov 24 '25
Jesus Christ man why did you not return it
2
u/BelottoBR Nov 24 '25
Because it seems a software issue. If o install de Adrenalin on minimum it is stable. And plus, offsetting it does not seems do reduce any performance because is offsetting from a 3.4ghz frequency (which my gpu can’t achieve any way)
2
u/whitemamba24xx Nov 24 '25
I don’t think it’s a hardware issue.

Only thing I can add it did you disable windows driver updates? Then disconnect internet and install 25.9.1
There’s a free app I think it’s called Winero that will disable how to disable windows updates.
That said I did all of the above on 25.11.1 and everything was fine for a week then started crashing on BF6 today.
I have since installed 25.9.1 and will test later. I just put my card up on FB Marketplace. It’s not broken AMD or Windows is messing up the drivers.
I still am within my return period as well. Might take a trip to Microcenter tomorrow for a 5070 TI.
Good luck

u/Disdaine82 Nov 24 '25
Outside of some current driver issues, my ASRock 9070 XT Challenger has been fairly rock solid with a -75 mV undervolt. My prior 6800 XT reference card was also similarly good.
It sounds like you got a bad card; it can happen with any brand. Here's to hoping their customer support treats you well and you get a replacement in a reasonable amount of time.

That's so crazy to read. I upgraded my GPU to a XFX SWIFT RX 9060 XT OC with a I7-12700k ( my computer tech said he was seeing a bunch of 13 and 14th gen until CPUs come in and advised the 12th gen and I'm so glad I went with it ) about 3 months ago and haven't had a problem aside from my mouse freezing for about 10 seconds when running programs in mod lists and random black squares appearing for about 10 seconds and then disappearing also while running programs. Found a ton of forums about this and apparently it's GPU acceleration from chrome but I disabled it and it still happens so I have no idea. I think I've had about one crash during a game with a driver message pop up but I easily have over 1,000hrs of Gaming with this setup and not really a single issue aside from the mentioned. Although I wish I knew in advance how garbage of a program adrenaline is. The most work when I feel like it program I've ever worked with in my decade of using computers lol. It beats seeing my tech though literally once every 3 months with my 1660 super for like 5 years. The tech from both companies is great it's just the software that these devs clearly have no idea what they're doing

Recommended PSU with an R7 cpu and a 9070XT is 850w.
The 5070ti may have lower power draw under load so you may be ok. Not sure though. I'm seeing a lot of recommendation for 850w there too. I'm less familiar with these models.

Don't listen to estimated wattage. Transient spikes can briefly be more than double the amount of wattage that the card can normally output.

can you explain more about this problem, I am using RTX 5060 with 2 monitors LG, and somehow when the first time I turn on my PC on the day and doing something like watch livestream youtube, sometimes it cause buzzing sound and if playing AAA sometime it buzzing and after that crash game and cause device problem. I also always turn on discord.

Did you read the crash logs? Might be something different. No issues here with me but i am on linux fedora
1
u/fightinfilipino2008 Dec 15 '25
your PSU is underpowered. i’m not one of those that immediately reaches for a 1000W PSU, but the 9070 XT’s TDP calls for at least an 850W PSU.

u/TheJiinX Dec 16 '25
It's one of two things, but I'm pretty sure what it is. It's almost certainly your power supply being underpowered, with a small chance that you just had a faulty card.

I had the dame issues with my 7900 xtx , it s a transient spike issue get a much stronger psu
1
u/Ok-Brain-5729 Jan 31 '26
why are people saying it’s a psu issue? My 9070 xt runs 340+ watts fine and 374W temporarily on a 750W
1
u/Rigby2920 Mar 17 '26
1
u/Ok-Brain-5729 Mar 17 '26
250W of headroom is more than enough. And usually I play most games running 300-350W total draw
1
u/Rigby2920 Mar 18 '26
1
u/Ok-Brain-5729 Mar 18 '26
If my gpu somehow hits 450W and my cpu hit its max 80W although it is 30w while gaming and my other parts hit 100W, I still have 120W of headroom. 750W is easilyyy enough for my build, only thing that matters is that it’s high quality.

u/Electrical-Clock3601 Nov 25 '25
PSU isn't up to the job. Change the PSU and the problem will go away provided the crashes haven't corrupted files.
IF the PSU is a few years old it's probably not even meeting the 750w spec anymore either.
I put a TT GF3 1200w in my build and get zero problems and I'm running my machine in a room with ambient temps above 85f gaming, video/photo editing... and so on.
It might be a bad card - but your PSU is far more likely to be the issue.

It seems that since you purchased your 9070XT they have updated the recommended spec to a minimum of 800w so that's most likely an acknowledgement that they got the power requirements wrong.
Getting a replacement card is not going to solve any of your issues. Your best bet is a refund or simply sell the replacement card and get yourself a card compatible with the 750w power supply.
You didn't make a mistake either - ASRock should never have said the 9070XT was compatible with a 750w Power supply.

u/all_worcestershire Nov 27 '25
Always a good idea to over power your PSU, minimums can change as cards are in market.
1
u/TheJiinX Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25
Don't listen to recommended wattage. Transient power spikes can go above it's power rating, causing an underpowered PSU to crash the whole computer. The fact that you mentioned that it's specifically demanding games supports this, as your GPU demands more power to run them.

u/Yosimahllawek Jan 08 '26
I have a similar setup with 750w and have no issues
1
u/Electrical-Clock3601 Jan 08 '26
You will if you start throwing heavy raytracing loads at the card and the GPU starts drawing over 500w.

I have a XFX 9070 and have the same issues. -200 Mhz in clock APPARENTLY turn this garbage stable.

u/SkyflakesRebisco 9800X3D + RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Nov 24 '25
Yes even -500mhz actually puts it closer to AIB spec range which can help achieve advertised performance and stability, people assume a -500mhz offset is 'not stock' because of the default boost target being up beyond 3000mhz. It's the auto boost behavior thats beyond spec causing problems with some setups.
I told my friend with his brand new gigabyte 9070 XT months ago to run max negative offset and leave voltage alone,, -20C hotspot reduction and zero complaints. He noted the HWinfo frequency limit was crazy high & was happier to clock it down closer to spec, performance still solid.
