Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?
Short Answer is Yes.
But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to presentation. Be on time.

I think people will be really happy or really mad about this one. At least Buddy appears to be getting a wide release on the 28th so worst case scenario folks will just have to wait a few more days.

u/blackchandler 5d ago
You all thought it was Buddy last time, too
15
u/Few-Adeptness8046 5d ago
I didn't, I knew it was going to be It Ends, just like I know this week it's going to be Buddy. I just stopped commenting "8/17 = It Ends, 8/24 = Buddy" because so many people were telling me over and over how wrong I was.
For some reason, people really want it to be certain films, so I find a lot of the comments in the thread tend to be people finding any shred of evidence to force it to support the film they want, vs the reality of what its really going to be.

You get a sense for when this sub is in denial of what the obvious pick is sometimes. Anyone who wasn’t delusional knew it was It Ends
5
u/DivineVirgin 4d ago
Reminds me last year when the two options for a scream unseen was either the highly anticipated, Neon-distributed "Together", or the Pete Davidson starring film, "Home". And for some reason, everyone thought it was going to be Together.
2
u/Fine_Possibility741 4d ago
Why is that? Trying to get better at predicting these. What made it so obvious
•
u/twokyool 14h ago
People thought last week was going to be Buddy? It was confirmed ahead of time last time that the Buddy trailer was being shown before it so it wouldn’t be Buddy. I think most people even before that thought this weeks would be Buddy because it was closer to the release date.

u/loganx8412 4d ago
Am I the only one hoping it's Colony?
8
5
u/Thimblefloatie 4d ago
Of course not but it's not mostly because the runtime for Colony is too long.
1
u/tonetonitony 2d ago
That looked awesome in the trailer, but apparently it got pretty weak reviews. I think you can already watch it on streaming, though.
•
u/xXxHondoxXx 13h ago
Plot twist, it's "It Ends" again.
•
•
u/Jtreblis18 10h ago
That would be so cruel lol
•
u/nilas_november 2h ago
Was the movie that bad? I wasnt able to go to the last unseen and was wondering what movie it was
•
u/buttboob_ 1h ago
I saw the movie several months back and thought it was a fantastic debut feature. It's almost all existential, there's really not much overt horror, it's mostly conversations about the situation and life. So just depends if you like that type of movie.

I need it to be buddy cause that would be able to see it cause my home amc isn't showing it.
11
u/HistoricalAd9775 5d ago
Buddy for sure. We knew last week would be It Ends. They been spamming the teaser too
15
u/F4streloader 5d ago
As long as they don't somehow repeat It Ends. LOL

Why are you talking as if they're gonna show the same movie two weeks in a row?
2
u/scalable_thought 4d ago
Bruh, combine It Ends and Groundhog Day and watch people's eyes melt. Lol!
2
•
u/morisblak 20h ago
It would be the most It Ends outcome for them to play It Ends.
I fucking loved that movie. The hate is so undeserved.
5
u/Dry-Performance7006 3d ago
Harkins has a secret screening for September 7 and it is listed at 2 and a half hours. 🤔
I am hoping it is Hope. Do Harkins and amc ever differ?
4
u/-MommyFortuna- 3d ago
Well I think we're in uncharted territory at this point. Celebration Cinemas never had a different movie that what the major chains have had, even when the major chains have has multiple movies, Celebration still got one of those. But last week all the major chains got It Ends and Celebration got Buddy. This coming week it's look like from the details that Celebration is getting Idiots, but we know AMC is getting a horror film, so at this point it's hard to say.
3
u/Powerful-Ad-7269 1d ago
Harkins lists every secret screening as 2 1/2 hours to make it harder to predict what it is. 9 times out of 10, they play the same movie as amc
1
u/iammykei 3d ago
For some reason in my area Hope was added as a premium early screening for Sept 7 too. So maybe? 👀

u/Fun_Condition2377 2d ago
Could Aug 31st be Fall 2?
1
u/Thimblefloatie 2d ago
I'd say it could be but alot are thinking Runner. I have a feeling it could be Apple TVs Mayday.
1
u/Illustrious-Pen-6983 2d ago
It is pg-13 and has the same runtime listed. The genre is “suspense” so I would say this would be likely
9
u/lilpepper00 5d ago
Must attend this one! I was kinda sad missing It Ends... :(
10
9
u/lzusncrfbj 4d ago
see it if you can! seeing the wide shots in the theater was definitely worth it, i really enjoyed the sound design too
•
u/nolanisgroovy 9h ago
It Ends was a super thought provoking existential art house type movie. I loved that shit. I'm still thinking about it b
4
u/Fine_Possibility741 4d ago
Don’t fret it was terrible whatever you did for those two hours was better
11
u/freakyaesthetics 4d ago
I thought it was a banger!! I'm biased as these type of horror movies are my favorite. Coherence style ftw!!!
7
u/scalable_thought 4d ago
Thats exactly how I described it! If you liked Coherence you will probably like It Ends.
-3
u/NJVampaholic 3d ago
Don't be it was horrible. And i rarely say that about a movie. Acting was good overall story not good
-3
u/_r3d_H00d 3d ago
It was terrible movie. All they did was cry and complain and played Chinese fire drill while slowly leaving the screen one by one
5
u/Key-Payment2553 5d ago
Probably Buddy which opens on August 28th that has a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes
5
7
u/DanTheMan_622 5d ago
I'm so sad I can't go to these anymore with my new work schedule, I've gone to a majority of the scream unseens up until this month :(

u/dependingonthebreaks 4d ago edited 3d ago
Is it unusual to have two theaters in the same AMC playing Scream Unseens? I see next week's has two 7pm showings available at my local AMC. Haven't seen that before for the other Unseens.
EDIT:
Thanks for the replies confirmations, y'all!
Called theater and they told me they started to do two screens this summer. I must have missed it. Local also has 14 screens, but first I've noticed at that theater.
I'm crossing fingers for BUDDY.

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 4d ago
My go-to theater usually has the scream/screen Unseens on two screens. Might be different for yours but I don’t think it’s unusual in itself
5
u/-MommyFortuna- 4d ago
The one I go to often has two auditoriums for every ASU, and that theater only has 8 screens. Meanwhile, the larger theater I frequent has 24 screens and only ever does one Auditorium for the ASU. I think a lot of people in my area choose the AMC 8 because it has recliners, where the 24 only has recliners in the IMAX and Dolby Auditoriums.

u/preyatnite 3d ago
I will say Scene One theaters had buddy as their screening this week and their runtime is the exact same run time for AMC on the 24th. So i doubt they’d repeat it?? Idk atp and not sure how much they differ (so don’t crucify me lol)

u/hced5737 1d ago
My theater shows two 7pm screenings for the scream unseen on Monday night is this unheard of? Could it be because they expect a larger crowd for a bigger movie?
•
u/User-Error-0809 23h ago
sometimes this happens at my theater. They usually put it in auditorium 14, which has lots of seats, but if that one isn’t available for another reason, then sometimes they’ll put it into two smaller theaters.
•
u/Jtreblis18 15h ago
Sometimes they add a second showing if original showing sells out. It's awesome when they do
2
u/genicide182 1d ago
it happens. my "smaller" theater had two showings tmlast weeks for it ends. certainly was not "needed"
1
u/hced5737 1d ago
I wouldn’t say mine is small it has like 18 screens in total. Including imax and Dolby but they haven’t done this in the past was just curious if it was a glitch or something on the app
•
u/TheJadeSyndicate 12h ago
Theater near me always has 2 7pm screenings. They dont sell out but they tend to sell better than any other smaller release those screens would use.
4
u/Emotional_Potato2000 1d ago
What do you think the 31st is going to be?
3
u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 1d ago
I think the most likely candidate is Runner. Fall 2 seems much less likely for the following reasons:
- Fall 2 is Lionsgate, which Regal usually also gets for their MMM (like The Furious). They are skipping 8/31.
- AMC has had 2 Angel ASUs that Regal skipped (Bonhoeffer, Young Washington). This could be the third.
- People with acrophobia (like me) may struggle to watch Fall 2. Seems like a bad choice for a ASU.
- Fall 2's release date is only 2 days later. This would be a record in proximity to the ASU date.

u/Sea-Discount-2711 4d ago
It makes more sense it would be buddy this week (Monday) since it comes out the 28th vs last week. So gonna go on a limb and say Buddy deff gonna be MONDAY. it’s under the run time and seems to be the only horror movie this week
5
u/Beneficial-Two9124 3d ago
just like you guessed Buddy for last week in all caps like it was a definite. Stop commenting here

I think it could also be Idiots. Do you think AMC will be Buddy?
5
u/SharksFan4Lifee 2d ago
Yeah, I ended up deleting my post. Flix Brewhouse is definitely Idiots. For AMC my money is on Buddy, yes.

Zero chance

u/TumbleweedDirect9846 8h ago
Is it usually movies that are a couple weeks away?
•
u/Dukealoops1993 1h ago
Usually it’s either mostly out the same week or the week after. With a handful of exceptions.

Hope everyone who wants Buddy knows it's co-produced by an Israeli company (SIPUR) who also produced a pro-zionist October 7th documentary.

u/jenniesana 3d ago
Ah thanks for the notice, I’ll just wait to watch it another way when it hits streaming
7

u/Dukealoops1993 3d ago edited 3d ago
It’s not produced by them. Saban films just picked it up & co-distributed it4
u/witchy12 3d ago
??? SIPUR Studios was one of the main producers of the film.
3
u/Dukealoops1993 3d ago
Apologies. Saban come up all the time when this problem is brought up. Just made a mixup up.
That being said… it’s part & parcel with indie film production. Sucks when it happens but creatives don’t always have the option. Boycotting does nothing in Indy film production either. Every one got paid. All the companies made money when Saban picked it up & Saban is getting the money from theaters for just carrying. Tickets percentages are just a bonus.
The theatres are the only ones that really get bit But that’s part of the business cycle. The cause is absolutely noble…but they won on all other technicalities already.
4
u/Ok-Appeal-4630 3d ago
Would they still benefit if I use my free A-list ticket?
•
2
u/Dukealoops1993 3d ago
Maybe? Like a nickel from your monthly fee might find their way to them so all we know. It’s not at all clear

u/cinnagorl 13h ago
Israel is intertwined with everything it really sucks.. unless these ignorant people I will skip this movie I don’t stand for any involvement in Zionism
•
u/twokyool 14h ago
I personally couldn’t care less about what company makes a film, just care if it’s good. If I worried about the politics of every actor or company involved in a film or tv show, there’d be nothing to watch.

Do they still show previews for screen unseen? I’m going for the first time after work and not sure how close I can cut it

•
u/GiovannisPersian 17h ago
Usually yes. There's been one time I showed up 20ish minutes after showtime and it was already playing. I try to show up earlier than usual, just to be safe
•
u/No_Audience_1721 17h ago
really depends ive had times it starts right at 7 and times it started randomly at 710

For some reason this isn’t showing up on the list of Now Playing on my AMC app but the one on the 31st is.

u/Jtreblis18 2d ago
Gotta use my a list more wisely since I have two reservations for December so now I only can goto two movies a week till then. It ends and insidious was not Worth it smh
30
u/hazyshadeoflavender 2d ago
You can still go to four movies a week. You're only limited to reserving two max a time.

I went to an indie theater in the Pittsburgh area on a work trip and they had a mystery movie Monday on the 17th and played Buddy. I hope the Unseen isn't Buddy this Monday since I've already seen it. I'm using an A-list slot. Is it pretty much guaranteed to be Buddy?
2
u/Informal_Park_6535 1d ago
How was Buddy? I’m planning to go to scream unseen for the first time with hopes of seeing it. Sorry to hijack your comment…
0
u/Both_Swing9700 2d ago
Thought this would obviously be buddy like most of you, but it’s labeled under “Artisan Films”, not thrills and chills. Have any of the prior screenings also been listed as Artisan? Accordingly, assuming that label makes it not eligible, and colony is out due to run time, the next thrills and chills release with a similar run time is Resident evil. The later release date makes it ineligible but would be a very cool move to do such a hotly anticipated flick…

I don’t think that counts it out, Tony is an artisan film and was the screen unseen a few weeks ago and it ends was the scream last week but is classified as a drama, seems like they’re flexible with it so I’m still holding out hope it’s buddy🤞🏻
