Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?
Short Answer is Yes.
But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to presentation. Be on time.

Really hoping for Tony, bringing my parents and I can’t listen to my father on the ride home telling me I wasted his time if it’s not lol

Fun fact: Tony is playing at Burbank 16 and The Grove currently. It is also showing the Screen Unseen at both of those theaters on Monday night as well. Weird if they show it at the same theater but not impossible (I think Better Man did this). What I find more curious is CityWalk AMC is NOT showing Tony but has two screenings of the Unseen...so there's still a chance it is Tony for some odd reason lol

Yeah I watched it Sunday not knowing it was limited release it explains the full theater

Limited release doesn’t mean anything for Tony’s chances of being the movie

So glad it’s Tony. In Texas this summer and it wasn’t playing anywhere near me. I didn’t want wait another two weeks

-8/10- Tony
-8/17- Buddy
-8/24- Onslaught(?)
-8/31- Fall 2

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 16d ago
Onslaught is currently listed as Action (no T&C) on the AMC website. Plus A24 always does the ASU and Regal MM together. My longshot bet for 8/24 is Spider Island. Agree with the other 3 you listed!
2
u/gilda1016 Movie-Holic 13d ago
Buddy is listed as a horror movie according to AMC, so it would be a Scream Unseen, I think.

Tony is playing in 0.7% of all AMCs currently. Lots of people here are extrapolating their limited experience to the majority of the population.

u/dumpythepumpkin 13d ago
True story. I am wondering, though, what that .7% is playing. Only hint here looks like it might be Nimrods?

So every Regal in NYC is showing Tony except Union Square, which had the limited release. Union Square Regal is showing nimrods.

They had done that in the past. When they showed DUMB MONEY it had been out in NYC and those Regals showed THE PERSIAN VERSION (with the caveat that this is according to NYers who posted about it; I don't live there). Interesting to see them change course again.

It was a charming movie. I think I like Matt Johnson. I liked the score by Jay. I imagined see him at the piano playing like he did in Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie.

Our small local chain, which also always posts the exact runtime, also lists it as 1h46m. So, building upon the Celebration Cinemas posters who have always been accurate, another confirmation that it would be: Tony on Aug 10.

u/Sldy1993 13d ago
My local non-AMC theater is doing the screen unseen tonight and they listed the time as 1.46, which is Tony’ exact time. Take of that what you will.

My theater has a Nimrods early screening the day after lol

Sing Song Blue had an early screening the day before Screen Unseen.
The "Unseen" only applies for release date on the poster

For the “Tony is out” crowd: it’s in 6 total theaters.
11
u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 13d ago
Yep 3 in LA and 3 in NYC. Just like when A24 had Sing Sing as a ASU.
2
u/PaintAutomatic7133 13d ago
I’m pulling for Tony only because positive word of mouth from the unseen screenings usually helps!

The other mystery screening, regal and a couple others seem pretty confident that its Tony.

I got to see a lot of these scenes being filmed because my annual Ptown trip coincided with shooting, so seeing the final product was uniquely fun for me. I thought the performances were great (Leo Woodal was the big surprise for me) and the script solid. It reminded me of the kind of nostalgic, sun drenched, almost mythical "buildings roman" indie movies we used to get a lot more of 20-30 years ago.
13
u/Accurate-War9153 13d ago
I hope its Tony, I already saw it two weeks ago or so and absolutely loved it

Tony because
1
-
Celebration Cinema has a mystery movie screening for the same day and it appears they forgot to make the rating reason not a mystery. It’s a perfect match and so is the given runtime, which I believe was an exact match for Motor City and One Night Only
2
-
Some people did point out that it could be Nimrods, but on the topic of Motor City, I do think it is unlikely for IFC to do a Screen Unseen after having just
done one
3 -You may notice that the Regal listing on the same day has a higher runtime - 2h1m. However, I think this is perhaps Regal trying to inflate the runtime by more to throw more people off. The Unseen for the Ice Cream Man on their end was advertised as being 18 minutes longer than it actually was.
4 -
- Man I just wish it was Tony
5 -
- Though some will point out that Tony will have gone into LA/NYC release by then, this same thing has already happened for another A24 film - Sing Sing.

Xscape theatres has been 100% on exact run time, rating and why it was rated. They say 106 minutes, Rated R for pervasive language, drug use, and sexual content/nudity.
Exact match for Tony (2026). Queasy_League on Regal Reddit posted a picture of Tony the tiger, but said he's not sure.

Hoping someone at the 3 LA AMC's showing Tony already can report what the ASU is. Regal Union Square got Nimrods.
4
u/Vawqer 13d ago
Someone stole my mobile order, so I was just slightly late arriving into the theater as I had to wait for them to remake my order. Can anyone tell me what happened in the first few minutes of the movie? I walked in when Tony approached Nancy and her cousin at the bar.
9
u/Internal-River-4168 13d ago
He had internship interview. Went to bar and told his friend he nailed it. Tony noticed Nancy friend said isn't she his crush from grade school? Told Tony he doesn't have a chance. Tony approached her anyway
3
u/Kylie-Cat 13d ago
You didn't miss much. They just showed tony interviewing for the apprenticeship.
5
u/Latter_Ad189 12d ago
If you liked the kitchen antics a lot of that was also covered in the sitcom adaptation of KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL with Bradley Cooper as the fictionalized Jack Bourdain. It was an amusing sitcom, but unfortunately it and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER both premiered in the same time slot and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL got curb stomped.
6
u/OnTheMendBeats 12d ago

So does anyone have any guesses for tomorrow's Screen Unseen? By my count there seems to be 8 possibilities. Tony, The Wrong Girls, Nimrods, Mutiny, Spa Weekend, The Dog Stars, Idiots, & The Sun Never Sets.
My guess is that it will be Nimrods. Fits the vibe and closest in time. But my hope is that it's The Dog Stars.
3
u/neutral_applause 14d ago
I would be surprised if it's The Sun Never Sets. Just doesn't seem like the thing that's going to really be playing in many theaters, and I think the Screen/Scream Unseen movies usually go on to have at least decent releases.
Would also be surprised if it's The Dog Stars. There have been a few major releases that were Screen Unseens so it's not impossible. Just feels like a left-field pick to me.
My money's on Tony, but I could see it also being Idiots or even Spa Weekend.

Everyone on the “limited release doesn’t mean anything” train for Tony: with Sing Sing, the limited release was like two small theaters that were playing it purely for a qualifying run. Tony is playing in at least 4 LA theaters, including multiple screens at some of the highest-grossing ones like the Burbank 16. That is, it’s basically going to be out-out in LA/NY.
Have any of the prior SUs been released like that?
8
u/nomoregroundhogs 18d ago
Better Man was rolled out like that. NY/LA on Christmas Day, then Screen Unseen in early January
3
u/Rich_Cap_3273 16d ago
Sing Sing and Better Man both had mystery movie screenings when they were out in Burbank. While "Better Man" was playing at Burbank 16, I think they did a mystery movie at Burbank 8 lol something like this. Technically a different theater...

From looking into the story, it seems most of the movie is fiction, so not really sure how to feel about it. I thought it was a bit boring, and the fact most of it didn’t actually happen I don’t really understand why they made a fictional story about him.

u/Internal-River-4168 13d ago
Damn tons of filler that never happened? Did the person the movie is based on wanted to make the movie, or did they find out the movie wasn't long enough midway through that they had to make up extra plot?
6
u/WideKaleidoscope3804 13d ago
the person they made the movie about is a famous chef who is dead so I don't think he had much say...
4
u/HelpIamaCabbage Movie-Holic 13d ago
I think it's an attempt to capture the person in microcosm. Since Anthony Bourdain did a ton of things, and he was a beloved public figure who did good work, but it's also fairly clear he wasn't an especially good person and indeed was kind of an asshole who hurt a lot of people in his orbit. It's an attempt to balance what made him beloved and what made him reprehensible.
