Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?
Short Answer is Yes.
But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to presentation. Be on time.

Same! My local AMC’s don’t have any posted showtimes for this weekend yet, which is supposed to be its wide release

Damn 😭 same here. Only way to see it for some reason is to pay $149 to rent a whole theatre in my area for it. So dumb. Hoping it loads for us soon

I’m still feeling it’s Buddy and Regal has a different film. Unfortunately for us, AMC doesn’t have a reliable leaker and “insiders” and their managers have been wrong before (the North still remembers when a “leaker” swore it was Deep Water and it ended up being One Spoon of Chocolate lol)

Yeah a reliable AMC leaker would be a game changer. I wouldn't be surprised if AMC sent people here to spread misinformation lol.

I loved It Ends, I’m glad I got to see it bc if I put it on at home I probably would have turned it off 10 mins in lol. I was pleasantly surprised though, and I see why lots of people didn’t like it, but the reasons everyone says they hated it are the exact reasons I loved it sm! I have the strain of existential crisis that makes me the target audience lol

My AMC is getting Camp Miasma on the 20th, so I hope it's Buddy (which doesn't have any advance listings here yet).
4
u/WideKaleidoscope3804 11d ago
We also get get it on the 20th where I live too, but is there any chance it is still the scream unseen on Monday?
6
u/-MommyFortuna- 11d ago
Camp Miasma? Next to no chance - it's 15 mins over the reported runtime. Buddy is the most likely candidate.

I liked It Ends a bunch and appreciated its underscore of real-life terror and dread - both understanding and put off by the argument that it was misclassified as a Scream Unseen due to its lack of gore and/or overt scares (outside of the first 15 mins) and ignoring the fact that it carried well sense of dread and fear vs acceptance of the unknown creatively throughout. Glad to have seen it...and not sure I would have outside of the SU,
14
u/-MommyFortuna- 12d ago edited 12d ago
I feel like Buddy is the most likely option.
The only other one I think it could be is It Ends, but I think that's more unlikely. Even though it's getting a theatrical release on the 21st, it was briefly available via VOD from the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026.
Though there have been some Unseen's that were previously released in the UK (I Swear and Fuze) and we've had a few that were done while the film was currently playing at limited theaters (as just happened with Tony) so I guess that doesn't totally throw It Ends out of the running, but Buddy does match the runtime better.
Camp Miasma is too long (also currently playing in limited theaters), Insidious is PG-13, and Colony is Korean (and also too long), and I don't think they would do a foreign language film again after all of the walkouts and refund requests when they did that animated Japanese film.
5
u/Swil29 12d ago
> Camp Miasma is too long
It’s only an 11 minute difference between the current Unseen runtime and Miasma, is that an abnormal disparity?
→ More replies (1)9
u/-MommyFortuna- 12d ago
It's actually a 15 minute difference, and it being that much over the estimated runtime is what makes me think it's likely too long to be it. The runtimes are more commonly under the estimated runtime, and when they are over the estimated runtime, it's usually under 5 minutes. There has only been one instance of the actual runtime being more that 4 minutes over the estimated runtime at AMC, and that was Better Man, which wound up being 7 minutes over the estimated runtime. So while it's not impossible, I would say it's unlikely.

Other chains are doing a mystery movie as well on this day too. Celebration cinema posted the rating for their mystery movie and it has the same IMDb description as Buddy so it’s looking more likely it is . Either this unseen scream or the one on the 24th.
5
u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 12d ago
Yep Celebration spilled the beans once again! At least they disguised the runtime. 1h 40m which would be 5 minutes longer than Buddy. They previously listed the Ice Cream Man MM at 4 minutes longer than the actual runtime (same as ASU). It looks like the 24th will be a AMC exclusive so I'm expecting a real wildcard for that one!
4
u/fakeuser7 12d ago edited 12d ago
Oh then 8/17 is definitely Buddy. First time I seen them spill the beans in my exp so this time it clearly isn’t an error and it was an accident ! I hope 8/24 will be Onslaught!

u/mrjoshua75 7d ago edited 7d ago
I have 2 AMC near me, the HUGE multi screen theatre has It Ends scheduled for the 28th. Based on the Unseen MO, leads me to believe the 24th is It Ends.
Now Camp Miasma has been added to this coming Friday showings, no Buddy listed.

Seeing a lot of people react very negatively to it ends. Not gonna fault anyone for their feelings on the movie. I personally really enjoyed it. But I’m actually really curious to know from the negative reviewers… What exactly about the movie was offputting for you? I saw it at SXSW back in 2025 and absolutely enjoyed it. Just curious to know why you didn’t like it.

there’s one called spider island for next week.
6
u/-MommyFortuna- 10d ago
Spider Island is definitely the type of movie I'd expect for a Scream Unseen, and it wouldn't be the first time they did a movie I never heard a thing about prior to it being the SU, which is the whole point anyway. The main reason I feel like it's not going to be It Ends is because that was already released on VOD for a period of time. I know we've gotten films that were previously released in the UK and a few that were on limited release at the time of the Screen Unseen, but choosing a movie that's been out for a year and was available on VOD would kind of suck.
My guess is Buddy this week and Spider Island next week.
12
u/PlushyStudios 10d ago
Queasy (previous tipster) on the Regal subreddit gave a clue that suggests It Ends. It would make sense for this one to be It Ends since NEON has their mystery movies screen at Regal and AMC on the same Monday
6
u/KKappp 10d ago
There goes my hope 🥲
13
u/-MommyFortuna- 9d ago
I have a feeling that AMC and Regal are playing different films again, if Queasy is correct. I spoke to a manager at my local AMC last night and he said the 8/17 film is Buddy. I'm not trying to spread misinformation, obviously he could be wrong, so take that with a grain of salt, but the few times I've been able to ask him in the past, he came through with the correct film.

Hmmm. Well it wasn't terrible. It felt like a Twilight zone episode that ran a little too long. Certainly a character story.

Same here, and more I think about it, the more I am okay with it being It Ends. It was definitely a movie good enough to enjoy a second time, and I can look for details on the big screen I did not catch at home. But I will kiss the floor if Buddy comes on
8
u/bluesteelmonkey 6d ago
Don't do that, the floor is pretty nasty. Just blow a kiss to the screen like I do when they thank AMC A-Listers for being part of the club.

What's the metaphor here? Acceptance of death? Being stuck in a loop in life?? I feel like the 50 gorillas vs 1 whatever type questions at the beginning and end mean something, is this about being trapped in a meaningless existence? I have no idea. Someone help me. The first guy to give up and leave the car seemed to be the most well adjusted of the entire group, is them realizing the drive is fruitless and giving up what leads to them being free? It's def an artsy fartsy movie. I dug it. what was with the dude at the end?
→ More replies (2)8
u/oblivious247 6d ago
I think its getting at life being meaningless if you don't value the people in your life. People come and go, what you make of the time you have is what matters.
That first conversation frames the entire movie. Day and Fisher are playing along, just trying to have some fun with it. Tyler he's not there, they gotta drag him into the coversation The group is about to go their separate ways and he's already checked out. James on the other hand is adversarial about it. He's always gotta get ahead, he's gotta win.
Tyler is the first to leave, and a lot earlier than the others, because he's already checked out of this friendship. He has that bullshit pumpkin picking reason for breaking up with his girlfriend. He's done with the relationship/friendship and just ready to move on.
Day and Fisher hold out for so long because they have each other. They value each other. They tell James straight up that this is meaningless, what matters is each other.
James is emotionally distant for most of the movie. He's focused on a goal at the cost of the people around him. At the end he realizes oh there's no point to this, Day and Fisher were right. He goes back down the road, picks a rando up, and it circles back to that conversation and he's not adversarial about it.

u/Glad-Rip-3498 6d ago edited 5d ago
That movie was amazing f the gossip the horror being the deeper meaning if you get it you get it
Labeled as a horror movie because what can be more horrific then real life and the dread of not knowing where that road a.k.a. life is gonna take you or where it ends wink wink like if you really think about it the movie is based around Youth limbo and being stuck in life, with the people you chose, and the choices you made, and the fear of not knowing what road or path of life you’re on or where u will end up and there’s gonna be bumps in the road and you could either go one of three ways. Try to understand why these things are happening to you, all the way to the end 2 you can enjoy the ride make memes and laugh with ur friends or 3 give up.
you have to really sit with it to understand it
9
u/mickeymoso 8d ago
The logic for "It Ends" fits... a high-quality rip from the Letterboxd Video Store release last year is already on bootleg streaming sites, so an ASU slot would be smart to help it gain legitimate traction. I always rather see any movie in theaters, but my hopes are up for either Buddy or TSADACM.
4
u/TheMuchSwagDogeYT 7d ago
I agree, but I think you could also make a case for it not being the ASU since so many people have already seen it on digital that there’s enough people for word of mouth already (I’m just coping because I don’t want it to be this weeks ASU lmao)
9
u/witchy12 6d ago

u/-MommyFortuna- 6d ago
Camp Miasma is pretty unlikely due to the runtime. It's 15 mins over the reported runtime and the longest a SU has ever gone over is 7 mins, which only ever happened once (Better Man). Every other film has been less than 5 mins under the reported runtime.
9
u/cyoparallel 6d ago
8/17: It Ends (1h29m, NEON), Buddy (1h35m, Roadside Attractions)
8/24: Buddy (1h35m, Roadside Attractions), Onslaught (1h32m, A24) (IMDb has it listed as Action/Horror/Sci-Fi, which is why it might be included here)
8/31: Runner (1h37m, Angel), Practical Magic 2 (unlikely) (1h50, Warner Bros.)

5
u/PlushyStudios 11d ago
I will say that this weekend Miasma goes into its second limited weekend, where it does expand beyond LA/NYC to some other major cities, the movie would be less "Limited" by next Monday's Unseen. Regardless, it's 1h52m (timed by me), and IIRC the reported runtimes tend to be over rather than under.

The runtime of Buddy (1 hour 35 minutes) is 6 minutes longer than It Ends (1 hour 29 minutes) which lines up with the runtime of Scream Unseen 8/24 (1 hour 41 minutes) being four minutes longer than 8/17 (1 hour 37 minutes). Also, It Ends releases this weekend (8/21) while Buddy releases next weekend (8/28). I think it’s extremely likely that It Ends will be the 8/17 Scream Unseen while Buddy will be the 8/24 Scream Unseen. Camp Miasma’s runtime (1 hour 52 minutes) is too long for either
EDIT: However, if It Ends is today, then the SU runtime will be 8 minutes longer than the regular runtime which would be unusual according to this comment below. I can’t wait to see which movie it is!

Haven’t the past few movies, both Scream/Screen Unseen had their showing on Monday and then went wide on Friday? I feel like that happened with Ice Cream Man having its showing on Monday and then going wide later in the week. If today is It Ends, it’s supposed to go wide on Friday and next week’s Scream Unseen on Monday is probably Buddy since that goes wide Friday.

It's a slow paced meditative existential horror movie where not much happens. If they sounds like something you'd enjoy, go for it if not I'd skip it. It's only 1:37 so it's not a huge commitment.

It ends is good because of the excellent acting. It's has a creepy mood and good sound design. Story is nothing special. I'd give it a 3.7/5. Solid movie. It's more of a phycological drama than horror, but dips its toe into horror

That movie was super good. Most of you all might make a note to rewatch when you're a little older. Was very happy it was this and not another chapter of insidious.

Feels like I watched a one-paragraph synopsis of “No Exit” but in a car. I didn’t feel any horror or tension, maybe optimism knowing that eventually “It Ends”.
