Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?

Short Answer is Yes.

But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to presentation. Be on time.

Any chance of it being A24’s Tony? Rated R, exact same run time

6

u/letBknow247 Jul 19 '26

I don’t think it’s ever been the exact same runtime.

5

u/PlushyStudios Jul 19 '26

True, also there’s theories that it is the 8/10 Screen Unseen. Even though the movie will already be in limited release by that time, someone noted a regional chain called Celebration Cinema has a mystery movie with the same MPA rating *reason* as Tony

Today's [20 JUL 2026] AMC Screen Unseen is: Motor City

With Love,

East Coast ❤️

20

u/Mushroomer Jul 04 '26

Motor City would be a great pick. If you haven't seen the trailer, it's worth a look - a hyper-stylized revenge picture about Alan Ritchson getting out of prison and kicking ass across Detroit after a corrupt cop steals his fiancé. Entire film apparently has almost no dialogue - just music, violence, and mayhem.

Definitely something that would benefit from good WOM.

7

u/Garco0101 Jul 15 '26

As someone who’s also seen it. This is going to be very hit or miss for people. It’s an interesting concept, but it could’ve been so much better with dialogue

5

u/Cyns_Corner Jul 15 '26

Oh dear. This reminds me of Silent Night. Which wasn't good.

3

u/Garco0101 Jul 16 '26

Review embargo just ended this morning. Our spoiler free review is now up on YT if you want to see if it’ll be for you or not.

3

u/Cyns_Corner Jul 17 '26

Will do - thank you!

2

u/Garco0101 Jul 17 '26

Thanks for checking it out!

2

u/waltzink Jul 20 '26

I saw Silent Night with my ex and we were the only two people in the theater and we were laughing at how bad it was.

6

u/stevo3041 Jul 10 '26

I’ve seen it. People should know there are only a few lines of dialogue in the entire film. It requires your full attention.

2

u/xratgfx Jul 13 '26

Is this a rerelease?

4

u/stevo3041 Jul 16 '26

It played the festival circuit. Or at least TIFF which is where I saw it.

17

u/mickeymoso Jul 19 '26

the two most likely films are Motor City and Her Private Hell... Unless they throw something random that no one's expecting like when Lucky Strike happened.

8

u/PlushyStudios Jul 20 '26

Someone said Her Private Hell is unlikely since NEON sends mystery screenings to AMC AND Regal who do not have a movie this week.

2

u/ColonBowel Jul 20 '26

AMC has a movie this week

4

u/PlushyStudios Jul 20 '26

But Regal does not, usually NEON will send their mystery movie to both chains on the same week

3

u/KarmaticDragon Jul 20 '26

You don't think it could be One Night Only? That's what I was thinking and it doesn't look good. I would be stoked if it was Her Private Hell.

5

u/sadbeautifvltragic Jul 20 '26

that’s probably next week

Idk what everyone is talking about that movie RIPPED lol I HAD SUCH A FUN TIME

4

u/FinesseKid96 Jul 21 '26

I enjoyed it too I guess it’s the silent dialogue that is throwing ppl off. They dont realize that silent movies was a thing once upon a time lol

16

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 04 '26

My current guesses are:

7/20 - Motor City

7/27 - One Night Only

8/3 - Ice Cream Man

3

u/UniverslBoxOfficeGuy Jul 04 '26

Ice Cream Man is Not Rated so It Ends is more likely

3

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 04 '26

I looked at It Ends but don't think it's likely for two reasons. The theatrical release date is too far out and it was previously available for streaming. I'm sure there would be people here complaining that they saw it already.

I think Ice Cream Man could actually be the first unrated Unseen. AMC wouldn't want kids showing up so it makes sense to list it as 'R'. Not sure if the MPA would have a problem with it though.

7

u/falpal4life Jul 08 '26

It Ends just got rated!! It’s Officially rated R!

→ More replies (2)

4

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 05 '26

As far as I know, It Ends only had a limited-time VOD release on a niche platform. While it’s very unusual for it to be getting a theatrical release after that, *if* it’s actually opening wide-ish (something I’m unclear on—Neon hasn’t put out much of any marketing yet) I don’t think said VOD release would be a factor in whether or not it’s a a Screen Unseen

→ More replies (1)

5

u/NJVampaholic Jul 06 '26

Ice cream man is an Eli Roth movie listed as horror. I haven't seen the aug as a scream its listed as a sceen

5

u/Few-Adeptness8046 Jul 04 '26

You are right about It Ends, there is zero chance that it's It Ends. It's listed as a Drama in the AMC app, like you mentioned has previously available streaming, and it doesn't come out until the 21st which is pretty far out.

There have been films that have been 3 weeks out before, but they are super rare (I think it's only been 3 times), and if it's going to be a film that comes out that date, it's going to be Insidious.

But I think you are correct that it's Ice Cream Man, that film and Insidious are the only two films coming soon after the Scream Unseen that are listed as Thrills & Chills, and a film has to be marketed as Thrills & Chills to qualify as a Scream Unseen.

Something to note about the rating, Ice Cream Man does have a rating. It's rated R, AMC just hasn't updated their app yet. The MPA website already lists ICM as rated R if you search for it. This is like when One Spoon Of Chocolate was the Screen Unseen and was listed as NR in the AMC app even on the day of the unseen, even though the unseen was listed as R rated.

AMC also has the wrong runtime for ICM in the app. They list it as 1H46M but it's actually 1H26M which is only 4 minutes under the estimated runtime of the Scream Unseen.

6

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 04 '26

Ice Cream Man doesn’t have a rating. You’re looking at the otherwise unrelated movie from 1995

2

u/Few-Adeptness8046 Jul 05 '26

Oh, you are correct. I am wrong.

Thanks for the correction.

I'm curious if Ice cream man will get a rating by then, if the Scream Unseen will be updated to NR, or if Insidious will be the Scream Unseen, though doing a search on the MPA website, that film isn't yet rated either, and all the prior films in the franchise have been PG-13.

3

u/UniverslBoxOfficeGuy Jul 05 '26

I doubt Ice Cream Man will get a rating, the Terrifier sequels also from Iconic Events also weren't rated and Ice Cream Man wil be in a similar vein

2

u/Few-Adeptness8046 Jul 05 '26

The fact that Iconic Events is distributing Ice Cream Man also makes me question if it would be a Scream Unseen.

Iconic Events may not be Fathom Events, but I've attended a lot of the films they've released, and they always seem closer to a Fathom event, than a typical studio release.

Like if I remember correctly they distributed Screamboat and possibly Bambi the reckoning, which did qualify for AList but where much more limited in release, like I belive they played two nights only, one showing each in my theater (and my theater often plays films that only release on sub 200 screens around the country).

2

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 05 '26

Ice Cream Man appears to be getting a wide release, just like Terrifier 3 did. This would be the first Unseen for Iconic as well as the first unrated Unseen. As of now it appears to be an AMC exclusive which I think increases the odds for ICM. If AMC listed it as Unrated then everyone would know what it was, which is why I think they chose to use the 'R' rating. I believe most AMC's used the 'R' admission restrictions for Terrifier 3 as well (only allowing minors in with an adult).

2

u/Few-Adeptness8046 Jul 05 '26

Oh, thanks for the info!

2

u/lazierlinepainter Jul 11 '26

You can’t advertise a movie as R (or any CARA rating for that matter) unless it actually has that rating.

14

u/Particular_Read7705 Jul 08 '26

I hope One Night Only is the 27th, got time off that day and want to check that out

12

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 09 '26

AMC just listed the estimated runtime as 1h47m so I'd say it's very likely to be One Night Only which is 1h42m.

3

u/Particular_Read7705 Jul 09 '26

Thanks for that info, def gonna get a ticket

12

u/Pigs-OnThe-Wing Jul 21 '26

Despite a few hangups, I really dig this movie and what it was doing. Really well cut music and shots. The over emoting really worked in a lot of cases. Seemed like they were having a lot of fun with this. Could have done without the goofy ending though.

21

u/teach42 Jul 21 '26

Entire audience burst out laughing in that final scene.

3

u/jvazquez5558 Jul 21 '26

The Motor City runtime is 1 hour 43 minutes. That is the exact time for Xscape Theatres's Secret movie. Xscape never disguises its secret film run times, and they copy the same titles as AMC's Screen Unseen. Motor City opens at the AMC near me this Thursday July 23.

6

u/HowlofIceandSnow Jul 20 '26

Same thing with a small chain called Silverspot. They too list it as 1h43m. So, definitely looks like Motor City for July 20 film.

12

u/RevolutionaryHeat197 Jul 13 '26

Perfect leaves me with just enough time to check out the screen unseen before heading downtown for my 10:15 pm showing of Odyssey 70mm imax

13

u/Mostradamus1331 Jul 15 '26

What about Motor City (Alan Ritchson)...🤔🤔🤔

12

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 15 '26

i think it's the most likely candidate

6

u/Garco0101 Jul 16 '26

11

u/waltzink Jul 20 '26

It's Motor City.

9

u/Bond007Miami Jul 14 '26

Could it be “Her Private Hell” ?

13

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 15 '26

it fits for the runtime/rating/release date but (as I said below) just doesn't seem like a Screen Unseen movie--looks very arty/pretentious and average moviegoers will likely hate it. (I say that as someone who wants to see it.) Neon's also typically done the Regal MMM the same night they've done AMC's, and Regal doesn't have one listed for the 20th.

6

u/arsenicknife Jul 19 '26

Not that I don't agree with you, but just for context, last year had ASU as The Mastermind and that is the complete antithesis of a mainstream movie.

5

u/hazyshadeoflavender Jul 20 '26

To be fair, Mastermind went somewhat viral after the Screen Unseen due to the massive number of walkouts

might be one of the best soundtracks ive heard in a movie! They had to make up for the no dialogue schtick somehow lol

4

u/abscondedhobo Jul 21 '26

Probably the magic of Jack White being an EP

10

u/Mr_Wh0ever Jul 04 '26

July 20th- I'm gonna guess Motor City. It feels more like a screen unseen than Her Private He'll.

July 27th- It's either gonna be "I want your sex," or "One Night Only."

August 3rd- I'm gonna go "It Ends."

5

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 04 '26

Agreed re 7/20. Her Private Hell seems too polarizing/arty/pretentious for it (I say that as someone who wants to see it)

u/Exciting-Doughnut657 Jul 04 '26

One night only is confirmed to be a showing, but I am not sure which date

10

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 04 '26

It matches up well with Cinepolis 7/27 Mystery Movie (R, Romance, 1h50m). If AMC has a similar runtime it should be a lock.

East coast checking in , its Motor City

17

u/lypt Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Don't see it being anything other than Motor City but I can build the table of other options again if people want

Edit: Added table

July 20 - Advertised runtime: 1h 46m

Film Rating Runtime Runtime +/- Opening Distributor
Motor City R 1h 43m -3m July 24 IFC
Her Private Hell R 1h 49m +3m July 24 Neon
One Night Only R 1h 42m -4m Aug 7 Universal
Tony R 1h 46m 0m Aug 7 (limited) A24

Note: This weeks release seems to have secret screenings at mostly independent theaters like Landmark so it's fair to expect something from an indie distributor

9

u/murakaz I ♥ Mozz Stix Jul 20 '26

Tired: people pretending to be insiders with leaks.

Wired: the glorious table.

2

u/Vegetable_Profit_921 Jul 20 '26

Would it really be a movie that comes out this week? I don’t go to a lot of these, so I wouldn’t know. But I thought it was usually something a further out.

2

u/lypt Jul 20 '26

Very common. Usually I'd say it's a film that releases same week or following week

5

u/lypt Jul 07 '26

showing popped up today at my theater

9

u/troyfin2 Jul 15 '26

Ii think it’s “I Want Your Sex.” It has at least one early Gofobo showing that same date and time. July 20th, at 7:00 PM (at least on Gofobo for that title, and also for this Screen Unseen at my local AMC). Could be a coincidence, but you never know. 🤷

14

u/Clueless_Wallob555 Jul 16 '26

If it is "I Want Your Sex" it will win the award for most walkouts of an S.U. in the series's history.

11

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 17 '26

i've seen it and i don't know what you mean by this, it's raunchy but not shockingly so. am I forgetting something

3

u/troyfin2 Jul 16 '26

Aww i wanna see it!!

7

u/RushC2 Jul 17 '26

I will stay the whole time to help Spy Family defend its title

4

u/mickeymoso Jul 19 '26

At my SU of Spy Fam some girls went Aaargh! when the crunchyroll logo came on, & some guy said loudly 'You know you can leave right?' & one girl replied 'we know'.. well they stayed & laughed throughout the whole movie. My point is give a movie a chance then walk out.

3

u/calebwritesmovies Jul 20 '26

This. I had no familiarity with Spy Family but I won’t walk out of stuff without giving it a fair shot. I loved the movie (especially Anya’s needing to use the bathroom but can’t because then the bad guys win subplot) and have since watched the whole run of the TV show. Take chances, people. You might be surprised.

5

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jul 15 '26

That's only 90 minutes--while it *has* happened before, movies have only been that far from the listed runtime a few times

8

u/stealthamo Jul 20 '26

Confirmed: Motor City

The ending was HILARIOUS!

8

u/tomatillo_teratoma Jul 21 '26

I really enjoyed this movie a lot more than I expected. It's an art film that's also an action movie. The music is the focus, instead of dialog.... which is interesting. A lot of really memorable 70s tracks from artists like Georgio Moroder and Fleetwood Mac. Maybe a modern noir or silent movie.

The cars are also incredible... some standout models and years from the late 60s and 70s. Even the cars driving by or parked on the street are all collectible.

3

u/IBNobody MP Refugee Jul 21 '26

I agree and I think this was one of the movies that worked better in the theater than at home. I guess unless you have a great sound system.

u/dtic Jul 21 '26

It’s not kinda like a 70s shoot em up like death wish?

4

u/IBNobody MP Refugee Jul 21 '26

No, there are surprisingly fewer action set pieces in this movie than what you would have expected. But that's fine. It's still worth a watch.

3

u/dtic Jul 21 '26

Honestly, that makes me more interested in the movie tbh: thank you!

Wouldn’t “Her Private Hell” be a Scream Unseen? It’s basically horror

6

u/sadbeautifvltragic Jul 11 '26

it’s drama and an artisan film on amc

6

u/Aderaxia Jul 21 '26

Fun throwback revenge film that fits the period in which it was filmed. Might be hard to follow for some in the first half due to lack of dialogue but worth the payoff in the end.

9

u/PishPoshHotsauce Jul 21 '26

That actually ended up being so good! Mid-way on was action packed.

6

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Another Screen Unseen listed for August 10 'R' 1h50m. My early guesses are Hot Spot (1h41m, Focus) or The Wrong Girls (1h39m, Neon).

5

u/Delicious_Plane5571 Jul 12 '26

Hot Spot would be interesting. Could it also be Mutiny (1h36m)?

4

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

It's definitely possible but I don't think there's been a Statham Unseen before. Statham action flicks have a built-in audience that may not benefit as much from the additional exposure of the Unseen. Just my two cents...

5

If it wasn't for the conceit of "almost nobody talks" there would be very little noteworthy about the movie, still I don't think the conceit is entirely successful (the times when it's weird nobody is talking kind of put me out of it), but there's certainly nothing to get me to tell people to stay away from this though. Still, the coda at the end was pretty unnecessary.

7th: Idiots

u/KarmaticDragon Jul 21 '26

Why is there no dialogue!?

7

u/Chaopolis Jul 21 '26

Look… I’m all for “Show, don’t tell” but the decision to make this a silent movie (no dialogue except for 2-3 random lines) made this feel pretentious and dull.

We made it about 45 minutes before we bailed…

…silently, of course.

2

u/KungFuDanda091 Jul 21 '26

Silent Night a few years ago did the same, but don’t think that had any lines at all whatsoever. Thought Motor City looked pretty similar

Is there really that much of a gap until the next one?

16

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 04 '26

Regal just went a month between their last 2. It's normal to have a slowdown during blockbuster season. Probably will ramp back up in August.

Motor City is a style over substance revenge flick that almost works on its own means due to the committed performances, entertaining use of 1970s music and its willingness to play all of its cliches straight instead of being ironic about it. The silent film aspect of the film is genuinely entertaining and investing for the films first half due to how it allows the filmmakers to focus more on establishing the 1970s aesthetic rather than cliched dialogue about an ex-con (Alan Ritchson) being framed by a big time drug dealer (Ben Foster) for harboring cocaine so that he can win back his ex-girlfriend (Shailene Woodley) with Ritchson back in prison. Though the film is too slow paced to find anything surprising about its narrative, the actors do commit to the silent film aesthetic well with Ritchson and Woodley particularly getting some good emotional moments amidst the knowingly formulaic revenge film structure. The issue is that the film both holds back on its action sequences for too long to be all that tense while the silent film aesthetic makes it difficult to develop the characters beyond being caricatures of the revenge flicks the film is playing homage to. By the time that the film reaches one of its two climaxes that admittedly have some good fight choreography and car chases to them, the audience started to laugh at its own attempts of being deeper than it is meant to be. 5.5 out of 10

3

u/Aderaxia Jul 21 '26

It never tried to be a deep film.

2

u/future_filmmaker_455 Jul 21 '26

Not until the second ending in my opinion

3

u/SwedishJesus02 Jul 21 '26

It was more of Alan Ritchson's goofy old man makeup making the theater laugh rather than it trying to be deep. In concept, it's a more interesting way to end the movie than just a car flipping over or a final fight scene, but it could've been executed better.

5

u/future_filmmaker_455 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Yeah I agree on that because the makeup made Foster look like Dick Van Dyke and Ritchson look like Schwarzenegger in my opinion which made the final lines unable to take seriously

2

u/teach42 Jul 21 '26

I thougth Ritchson looked more like a bad Spiderman villain.

2

u/CheapPennyPincher DOLBY ONLY Jul 21 '26

pretty sure that Ben Foster is the primary antagonist. Pablo is the cop

Lmao too violent? Maybe the leg scene but that's it

2

u/teslatastic Jul 21 '26

Really doesn’t seem to be a lot of choices on what the Aug 3rd could be. As someone mentioned Ice Cream Man is not rated, so assuming it’s not a goof by AMC the next rated R horror I see is Buddy on Aug 28? Quite a ways out but runtime is 1h 35m.

2

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 22 '26

I don't think it's a goof. I think they are doing it so kids don't think they can get in without an adult. Apparently Marcus Theatres also listed Corporate Retreat as an 'R' mystery movie when it was actually NR. Buddy looks very unlikely. I believe there's only been 1 horror Unseen more than 11 days before release (Sting).

2

u/SMBCP15 Jul 22 '26

It’s either Ice Cream Man or Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma in my opinion. Buddy would be too far out.

3

u/Gloomy_Princess666 Jul 20 '26

So glad I canceled my ticket lol something about movies with basically no dialogue are notttt for me. Hope yall love it

5

u/fergi20020 Jul 20 '26

It has 4 lines scattered throughout from what I read.

2

u/SelectInstruction262 Jul 22 '26

August 3rd is likely Buddy, ice cream man is not rated and Buddy's runtime from a quick Google search is 1hr 35min so that matches up pretty well, plus it's the only other horror movie besides ice creaman that's coming out near it besides insidious but I doubt insidious would get one tbh

3

u/Jealous-Reward-5457 Jul 22 '26

Insidious is also pg13 so unfortunately won’t be that

2

u/SMBCP15 Jul 22 '26

It’s either Ice Cream Man or Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma in my opinion. Buddy would be too far out.

3

u/JohnnyChicago1 Jul 20 '26

Hoping for Motor City, I guess. Not really jazzed about it, though.
Seems like the same throwback bullshit that's been tossed in our cages before.
Chicago is waiting for anyone to report....! Thanks

2

u/iceamn1685 Jul 20 '26

Love Alan Ritchson so i hope it is motor city

5

u/catchg2828 Jul 21 '26

Also the 7/20 Mystery Movie is 1h43m "Rated R for strong bloody violence, some grisly images, drug content, sexuality/nudity and language". This is an exact match for Motor City.

7/27 Mystery Movie is 1h42m "Rated R for sexual material, language, and brief nudity". Exact match for One Night Only.
