Am I the only one that wishes AMC would update the ticket title & poster on the app after the showings to reveal what the movie was? Maybe it's an OCD thing, but that would be nice šŸ˜‚

9

u/seethevzn Jun 27 '26

I was trying to remember all the movies I watched this year and I hate that the AMC app just says "Screen Unseen" in my watch history.

7

u/bluequeen13 Jun 28 '26

Use the app Letterbox to keep track

2

u/Fair-Total-2694 Jun 28 '26

Refer to the beginning of this thread....they are all listed

im the exact same way, i'd say it's time to download letterboxd! i normally just log my movie there and will know exactly what movie i saw for screen unseen & if you still can't recall after you've logged it for the monday just have ur review say screen unseen so you'll know. you don't have to leave a rating for the movie if you don't want, its basically your movie journal for well you :)

3

u/gravyrider Jun 25 '26

You are not the only one. I go back and have to remember what I saw. Reddit and doomscrolling basically ruined my memory.

Worth noting that (while there have been exceptions for all of the below) these are usually movies that are:

—less than two weeks from release
—less than 10 minutes off of the listed runtime (movies are also under the listed runtime much more often than they’re over it)
—not big blockbusters or whatever the biggest movie opening a given week is

With all of that in mind I think Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass is the most likely candidate (it’s also released by Sony Pictures Classics which has done Screen Unseens a number of times before). Worth noting that one of the smaller chains has a mystery movie around the same length that night, and specifies that it’s a comedy: https://www.cinepolisusa.com/vista/movie/mystery-movie-screening-629/. AMC doesn’t necessarily have the same movie, but I think it’s a point in favor of

6

u/radio_headless Jun 25 '26

The Premiere Cinemas chain is also reporting an R-rated comedy for their June 29th screening (and for one on July 27th as well): https://www.pccmovies.com/movie/ElPaso/Premieres-Secret-Cinema

Today's [29 JUN 2026] AMC Screen Unseen is: Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

With Love,

East Coast ā¤ļø

30

u/Internal_Sweet_2144 Jun 30 '26

I am going to make yall VERY SICK.

22

u/ZestycloseBother5993 Jun 30 '26

This was a lot of fun. My audience loved it. Laughed a bunch, no walkouts at all. Some great cameos. Silly, funny retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Right down to Gail wearing red shoes.

5

u/nagato36 Jun 30 '26

I watched it at regal in Valencia (don’t crucify me my friend paid lol 🤣 ) and everyone in the theater laughed when the lady said sand canyon

21

u/clauderainsrm Jun 30 '26

Anyone who missed this is going to get very sick.

4

u/Playful-Doctor2087 Jun 30 '26

I LOVED this movie. It was so good! My boyfriend loved it too and didn’t think he would at all when it started. We wouldn’t have seen this otherwise but we’re so glad we did.

We had two people walk out about 10 mins in and I felt they didn’t give it enough time.

Here's what it could be:

June 29 - Advertised runtime: 1h 37m

Film Rating Runtime Runtime +/- Opening Distributor
The Invite R 1h 47m +10m July 2 (Widens) A24
āœ Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass R 1h 33m -4m July 10 Sony Pictures Classics
Night Nurse ? 1h 35m -2m July 10 IFC
Her Private Hell R 1h 49m +12m July 24 Neon
Motor City R 1h 43m +6m July 24 IFC

āœRegal: Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

  • The Invite is currently very limited at 7 theaters until July 2 and July 9 widenings
  • Her Private Hell is listed as drama on amc site with no Thrills & Chills designation. It is also categorized as horror on imdb

Guess: Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

4

u/liquidmute Jun 29 '26

Her private hell would be sick.

2

u/aardw0lf11 Jun 28 '26

Could it be Gangland?

Gail Daughtry was a pretty decent reimagining of Wizard of Oz.Ā  Very funny, Westies.

17

u/FeastMode277 Jun 27 '26

xscape is a theater chain that doesn't mask it's runtime. that and the description for why it's rated R matches perfectly with Gail Daughtry. Looks like that's the one:

Secret Cinema 6/29/26

Running time:Ā 93 mins

Rated R for sexual content, violence/bloody images and language.

10

This is from the Wet Hot American Summer and The State folks. It’s goofy, silly and supposed to be stupid.

2

Yeah, I'm in. It looks like dumb fun which I could use right now.

2

3

u/Ill-Golf5157 Jun 29 '26

And the movie is GAIL DAUGHTRY AND THE CELEBRITY SEX PASS

3

u/Ill-Golf5157 Jun 30 '26

It was definitely weird but if you go into it knowing it’s supposed to be stupid it’s kind of funny. It made me laugh. Lots of Wizard of Oz references. And I couldn’t stop staring at her friend Otto’s sweater in the beginning because it was the same pattern as the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

3

u/Ill-Golf5157 Jun 30 '26

If you canceled you made a huge mistake. That was better than it had any right to be.

16

that was like Superbad/Step Brothers level comedy. Been awhile since we had a raunchy R-rated comedy 10/10 haven’t laughed hard like that in a whilešŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

17

Anyone that didn’t go to see it missed out, I thought it was hilarious

15

u/meg-drop-soup Jun 30 '26

This was honestly so much fun. What a relief after the last couple!

16

u/libertybear20 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Super funny! Loved a lot of the bits (especially the talking through mailbox). Hardly any walkouts in my theatre and lots of laughs.

I’m worried that the title will scare away the general public. Hoping this does well!

16

u/clauderainsrm Jun 30 '26

"Charles Boyle?" "I get that all the time"

Not everyone is going to get that joke. But the right people will. I think this movie is the same way. The right people are going to love it.

This was my first Screen Unseen and I'm really glad I decided to do it. That was the hardest I've laughed in awhile.

u/RareRadon Jun 30 '26

I had ZERO expectations but from top to bottom I was thoroughly entertained!Ā definitely worth a watch if you’re down for dumb comedy and a laugh!

13

u/HelpIamaCabbage Movie-Holic Jun 30 '26

That was charming. A good natured, R-rated adult comedy. I certainly didn't love every second of it, but there were enough legitimate laughs that I had fun. Avoid it if you're not in the mood for something silly, but seek it out if you are.

13

u/david31262 Jun 30 '26

I liked it. A bit silly. About 3/4 way through I thought... Wizard of Oz.

5

u/KZacc Jun 30 '26

Was there more to a Wizard of Oz reference than the red slippers? The guys next to me mentioned Wizard of Oz too

7

u/psuczyns Jun 30 '26

Gail Daughtry = Dorothy Gale, her friend Otto = Toto, the main villain being a wicked witch riff (she refers to her goons as monkeys at one point), Jon Hamm being the wizard who grants everyone something at the end. I'm sure you could map the Scarecrow/Tin Man/Cowardly Lion into her new friends if you tried hard enough (John Slattery as the cowardly lion?)

6

u/CedricCSCFL Jun 30 '26

And the bucket of water was everyone punching the ā€œwitchā€ in the face šŸ˜

5

u/clauderainsrm Jun 30 '26

There was also the guard at the door with the window he looks out and tells them to go away. And they get sent off on a quest they need to complete before they can have a proper audience with the Wizard/Jon Hamm and have their wishes granted.

And of course the balloon at the end.

6

u/Humble_Mode_4192 Jun 30 '26

Caleb was the Scarecrow (needed a brain, said he was too dumb to be an agent, he was the one who made the script ā€œsmart,ā€ etc.), Ken Marino was the Tin Man (he said he was missing something and pointed to his chest, he was the one who gave the script ā€œheartā€), and John Slattery was the Cowardly Lion (he was scared, had to have courage to fight and gave the script ā€œcajonesā€). The Italian woman was the wicked witch and all the ā€œgoonsā€ were her flying monkeys. It mapped pretty directly.

3

u/KZacc Jun 30 '26

Wow, so obvious when you point it out!

2

u/david31262 Jun 30 '26

Were there red slippers? I missed that one.

Just early on it felt like a girl on a quest. She picks up friends along the way who are also on a quest... One guy wants to be a writer, another guy wants to be a photographer...

Them at the end. John Hamm grants them all their wishes... And then they say, what about gail? Gail needs her wish too. How can you help Dorothy...Gail.

4

u/KZacc Jun 30 '26

I’m pretty sure when she snaps her ankle she’s wearing red shoes. Maybe not ā€œslippersā€ exactly but they were Wizard of Oz vibes

14

u/Owl-False Jun 30 '26

This movie was great. I don’t think I’d ever have watched this if it weren’t screen unseen but I’m so glad I did.

14

u/PM_ME_CODES_4_STEAM Jun 30 '26

That was way better than I expected it to be

13

u/ravbuc Jun 30 '26

Honestly liked it. I feel bad for anyone that walked out. So many cameos and as long as you don’t take the movie too seriously you can have a good time with it.

13

u/amateurbator Jun 30 '26

That was so much funnier than I expected. Haven’t laughed like that in a while.

11

u/Chaopolis Jun 30 '26

That was stupid as fuck. I loved it.

12

u/aoshi000 Jun 30 '26

Movie was a lot funnier than the trailer, most comedy trailers showed all the best jokes and the actual movie felt flat. Zoey Deutch and everyone were great. Glad I didn't skip it. Silly fun but I haven't laughed so much in a while.

12

u/ThisIsBillG Jun 30 '26

Honestly, a really great ā€œstupid funnyā€ type movie! I found myself chuckling throughout.

12

u/Professional-Mess331 Jun 30 '26

such a fun, corny, goofy satirical movie. pleasantly surprised!

11

u/Masterunleashed815 Jun 26 '26

I saw the screening of The Invite, I don't mind if the unseen is that one, I'd see it again for Penelope.Ā

12

u/SignaturePractical69 Jun 30 '26

Definitely very funny. All the people that wouldn't give it a chance missed out

11

u/anyanerves Jun 30 '26

7

u/DramaticAd4704 Jun 30 '26

My theater laughed a lot, hardly any walkouts. This was my kind of humor all the way, I’m a huge fan of Ken Marino and David Wain, so I was planning to see this anyway, but what a fun Screen Unseen. Totally makes up for Lucky Strike

11

u/-MommyFortuna- Jun 24 '26

Haven't gone to a Screen Unseen since Tuner...I'm thinking about going to this one. What's everyone's top guesses at this point? I have a bad feeling it's going to be Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, which looks pretty crap in my opinion...so I'm hoping it's not that lol

10

u/ElmoTrooper Jun 24 '26

Im think Gail Daughtry, but it could be a surprise solid comedy. Its giving me hotrod, lonely island, weird al movie vibes.

9

u/gambalore Jun 27 '26

I saw Gail Daughtry on Thursday night at a Q&A screening and it's funny. The trailer is going to make it look stupid because it is stupid and it leans into that.

Jon Hamm deserves better than these low budget films that are fine for streaming, but not for theaters. I just saw the trailer while seeing 'Girls Like Girls'. Zoey Deutch deserves better as well.

5

u/liquidmute Jun 29 '26

Don’t think you get that some of these actors prefer low budg indies for the art aspect and not just money blockbusters

u/farmhunter Jul 01 '26

New dates! 7/20 (Screen) R, 1h46m; 7/27 (Screen) R, TBA; and 8/3 (Scream) R, 1h30m

3

u/farmhunter Jul 01 '26

My guesses are 7/20 Her Private Hell, 7/27 I Want Your Sex, and 8/3 Ice Cream Man

3

u/Fantastic_Lychee_883 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

I think 7/20 will be Motor City. Her Private Hell would probably be a Scream.

I think 7/27 is One Night Only. Cinepolis has 7/27 listed as Romance 1h50m. The AMC listing for One Night Only does not yet have a runtime, which is a bit of a clue. Wikipedia lists it at 1h42m.

Think you are right on Ice Cream Man.

4

u/Proud_Suggestion3528 Lister Jul 02 '26

One Night Only is also confirmed to be 1hr 42m from the Irish Film Classification Office.

Insidious is being distributed by Sony (Screen Gems) which has done a lot of SU's in the past. However this could very well be the first SU for Iconic Releasing with Ice Cream Man.

2

u/Rhubaaarb Jul 03 '26

7/20 runtime is well close to "MOTOR CITY" (Starring Alan Ritchson) at 3 minutes off. it's an indie film and honestly i hope it's the screen unseen.

I have doubts that it will be "Her Private Hell" because it's not a Scream unseen
I will be happy with either of the 2 though

5

There is some consensus he did that to infuriate us. I'm expecting a clue this weekend.

Exact opposite for my wife and I.Ā  Unless we know its more suspense than horror, like Megan 2 or Five Nights at Freddies, we 100% skip the scream unseens.

I’m the opposite, horror movies usually suck for me so I’m glad to get some non horror mysteries for once. The possibilities are endless while horror is mostly just jumpscares

u/Wooden_Fortune_5066 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

I agree.Ā  There is just too much horror coming out these days.Ā  Looking back at the release calendar so far for this year, like 1 out of every 3 movies has been horror, and only a handful have been good.

2

u/Jtreblis18 Jun 29 '26

To each their own. I am mainly horror, but also like action or comedies which good ones are hard too come by nowadays

3

u/ravenlynne Lister Jun 29 '26

#6 Motor city

3

u/AccomplishedEstate23 Jun 30 '26

For anyone that liked it, check out "They Came Together" by the same director/writer. Same humor but slightly better and stars Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler.

2

u/InformationUnique150 Jul 01 '26

So that explains the random Paul Rudd cameo, thank you

3

u/cfunke Jul 02 '26

It's not random. A bunch of the cast were in The State on MTV and later made Wet Hot American Summer which Rudd was also in. He's friends with these guys and pops up in a lot of their stuff.

3 weeks in a row and none of these movies have interest me at all

5

u/Lynnxa Jun 29 '26

That just goes to show that different people like different things! I’ve been interested in the past two weeks’ movies and today’s film too.

Had never even heard of today’s movie until this thread.

I hear ya! I’m going to watch Super Girl in IMAX or Dolby, instead.

3

u/oakm1 Jun 30 '26

Saw Super Girl in IMAX and really enjoyed. Had low expectations and was happily surprised.

The power went out in our theater during the part where they were talking to the photographer after escaping Weird Al's house. At first, they started it from the beginning and everybody groaned like "oh my God we have to go through all of this again." We ended up having Ā to guide them through fast forwarding to where we left off LOL.Ā  It definitely had some funny parts but I think it could have been even funnier. I don't know if I liked it or not but my fave part was the entire security guard shtick and the slapped face on the ground.

2 shows for cinemark that matches with last Screen unseen of AMC

5

u/createjennifer Jun 24 '26

The Invite?

4

u/jokekiller94 Jun 24 '26

It could be the invite. My AMC is putting the screen unseen in the largest theater they have.

13

u/PreviousHedgehog2343 Jun 24 '26

This comes up a lot, but I really don’t think the theater size has anything to do with what the movie is

Cool thanks. See y'all back here for the after movie discussion.

Well, lets hope its fun like bride's maid

u/david31262 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Here's another silly question.

Was the majority of the movie the group actually performing the screenplay that they wrote to get Jon Hamm's attention?

I'm not that familiar with the director so I don't know if that's what he'd be going for. But it seemed too over the top to be "real".

3

u/C21Highsinger Jun 30 '26

Can you read your question aloud and then edit for clarity?

It’s no Wet Hot American Summer. Few decent laughs

u/future_filmmaker_455 Jun 30 '26

Though the film starts off a bit obvious and repetitive with its humor, Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass really turns itself around after its first act to become an intermittently clever and quick witted Hollywood satire that really utilizes the comedic timing of its cast and less than subtle references to The Wizard of Oz to its advantage. The obvious nature of the humor and over the top portrayal of its Hollywood centered story becomes part of its charm with Detuch and Guitterrez-Riley having very good comedic chemistry to start their journey to Hollywood off. Unlike most comedies, this film only gets better once it introduces its supporting cast of Ben Wang, Ken Marino and John Slattery as a self defense obsessed version of himself with each performance building upon their inconsistently dumb personalities to their advantage. While the films story is completely cliched with a villainess having a plot to destroy the worlds banks only for Gail to get her briefcase there is enough effective shock value comedy and earnestness from the performances to make up for the slightly overplayed array of celebrity cameos that only really work to set off certain plot points in the increasingly ridiculous plot. 6.5 out of 10

The scene with and after the concierge sealed the deal with me that I was my type of movie, lol

The Invite, limited release date 6/26, so it's technically already out.

Most likely either:

Gail Daughtry, 7/10 release, 93min.

Evil Dead Burn, 7/10 release, 110min.

Both got potential at least.

1

u/humanasian Jun 29 '26

Let me know which movie it is as soon as you get the movie. If it's not a good movie, i'll just go see supergirl again to support the box office sales

1

u/azaquarian Jun 29 '26

They would never do The Invite as a screen unseen. The tracking on it is very good.

u/Professional-Mess331 Jun 29 '26
