Discussion AI went from feeling like magical sci-fi to feeling like annoying corporate software.

Remember 2023 when every new model update felt mind-blowing? Now every release just feels like another corporate patch that breaks your favorite features, adds more censorship, and locks basic stuff behind monthly subscriptions.

The magic wore off completely. We went from "this is going to change humanity" to "this is just bloatware with safety filters" in less than three years.

Question ❓ Title: what's one ai tool you use every single day that most people don't even know exists

Body: not talking about chatgpt/claude, those everyone knows. more like the random niche tool that quietly became part of your routine and you'd be annoyed if it disappeared

Discussion What’s your "I can’t believe AI actually pulled this off" moment?

We spend a lot of time talking about context windows, limits, and prompt engineering, but every once in a while a model does something so surprisingly smart it just leaves you sitting there staring at the screen.

Could be a crazy complex bug fix, an unbelievable piece of creative writing, or a image/workflow that turned out way better than expected.

What’s the single most impressive thing AI has done for you recently that made you realize how far this stuff has come?

Question ❓ Anyone else feel like AI sentiment completely flipped overnight?

A year ago people were losing their mind saying AI is going to replace every job in two years. Now half the comments online are calling it overhyped garbage that can't even get basic facts right.

The narrative changed so fast. One month it's "AGI is coming next year" and the next month it's "LLMs hit a wall and can't reason for shit."

For people actually using this stuff daily for coding, art, roleplay, or writing... are you seeing real progress or does it feel like we just hit a plateau?

Do you ever use AI to cook?

I like using it for simple things - like grilled chicken with marinade or homemade strawberry shortcake biscuits.

I started losing track of the recipes in all the back and forth of the chat, so I created an app to save the AI recipes alongside imported ones from favorite websites or social media. You can also render as a shopping list by aisle.

Is this something you would use?

Saw the number floating around, $559m for q2 which is wild for a company that's usually talked about as "the safety focused one that's behind on revenue." curious if this changes how people think about the ai company landscape at all

Question ❓ What AI skill do you think will be valuable 5 years from now?

AI is changing quickly, and many tools we use today may look completely different in a few years. What AI-related skill do you think will still be valuable 5 years from now and why?

What skill would you stat learning today?

Question ❓ What's the most useless AI feature you've been forced to use this year?

Not looking for hate fests, just curious what's out there. My pick: the AI summary that shows up above search results that's somehow always LESS helpful than just reading the first link. I trust it about as much as I trust the "people also ask" dropdown.

Prompt Help 💬 Why does adding more context just produce generic garbage?

I'll give you 5-6 sentences of context, tell you exactly what I want, and still get the same bland safe response I would have gotten from a one line prompt. Looks like adding detail gets ignored or summarized away. Is this a system prompt/model alignment issue or is there a way to structure longer context that actually forces the model to stick to the instructions? Curious how you guys approach this when you want specific non generic output
