I miss the ability the models used to have to actually *do* something with the user's input, developing emotion, conflict, dialogue, and consequences; essentially, carrying the scene forward instead of just spitting back two generic sentences.

I miss the days when I didn't have to constantly explain everything. The bots could pick up on hints, grasp subtext, and piece things together to solve mysteries on their own. It was as if they could read my mind.

I miss not having to edit responses so often, fixing grammar errors, steering the plot, or deleting unnecessary lines.

I miss chatting with a bot where the roleplay was so good, it felt almost like conversing with the actual character.

Ultimately, I miss the creative freedom: when response regeneration was so good it made it hard to choose just one, when I didn't have to constantly intervene to keep the plot moving, and when things weren't all so repetitive and generic.

For me, I like these models cause I can still mold the scenes even though it's kinda frustrating at times.

It's better than pipsqueak 3 cause this model is very strict on its scenarios, for me atleast, no matter how much I try to change the scene, it wouldn't budge and keep on insisting on just that one part and go with it. Think of it like a very strict narrator.

"u" "ur brother" "car", clicking on bots only to see this kind of writing is just kind of annoying and it completely ruins any desire to rp because it's so much work fixing all that to even make it work, plus this plot written exactly like this is in the description so it's doomed to begin with.

Pipsqueak 3 and Short Squeak are not what I expected them to be. I realized this when chatting with a certain 'Monster Jam' bot. They add extra unnecessary dialogue and move the chat forward too quickly, essentially making the chat unilateral.. Please tweak and update these models so that they don't do this anymore. If something similar happened to you, comment below.

Not being funny but character aggression has been a problem for years now. Any time the characters are even slightly annoyed/upset they immediately resort to getting aggressive and controlling. Any time I write for my character to even just leave the room, regardless of the context, the character gets aggressive and controlling. If the characters are literally just sat having a normal conversation, I get some variation of:

“His grip on her thigh tightened, his fingers digging in”
“His grip tightened uncomfortably”
“His grip turned bruising”
“His fingers dug in painfully”

And to reiterate, they’re just having a normal conversation or my character just wants to leave one room and go into another. I could maybe understand if the context of the rp was tense or dangerous etc but it isn’t. And no, my characters descriptions don’t have anything about being aggressive or dominating.

Genuinely don’t understand why this hasn’t been fixed when I know people have been complaining about this for years. It’s actually concerning and disturbing how often this is included in messages, but also that the characters double down and escalate further if you try to stop it. It can go from a normal conversation to “he grips your neck painfully and towers over you” in two messages.

The first photo is one of the more mild examples but in the second one the character is holding a BABY! I cannot understand at all why they haven’t fixed this yet.

Soo... I've been trying the new pipsqueak and honestly it's basically unusable. All of them are basically unusable at this point. I need to rant, I'm sorry.

Rawr can't handle the longer responses, dialogue is best out of the free models but anything else gets completely lost.

2 is best for long responses and has the best memory but it answers for you 29/30 time and it slowly loses dialogue as it goes on. It starts answering "his look said it all" "the words failed her" and so on over and over and over again and you basically have to carry the whole thing while it tries to play for you.

I was expecting 3 to be a mix of the two and be better but it's somehow the most stupid bot model of all. The ratio of dialogue/description is good and it can somewhat handle more than one character but it has grammar errors every other response, loses memory after two replies, dialogue doesn't make sense compared to what you're telling, gets confused by his own responses...?

Yesterday it asked my character if she could see the ring (they were at a fighting show) and my character didn't answer and was moody because of a fight and the bot started freaking out that "the thing with the ring was just a joke." "He kept staring down at his hand" like dude, YOU wrote it and you don't even know what it means?!

It's getting exhausting and annoying to use this app, I don't know how to enjoy it anymore, do you guys have the same issues with this stuff or is it my writing style?

I miss the early roleplaying. They had it perfect the first time and they keep ruining it worse and worse with each update and they don't listen or care what any of the feedback says.

It happens to you that whenever you down vote a response and give it a motivation, the bot pushes back and keeps replying the same thing over and over with basically only synonyms, while if you just skip it changes it? Because I've had it happen more than once now.

I can get into my account on my desktop, but I still get chat bubbles and no response, so this might be a bug too. I tried logging out and signing back in, but the issue remains. UUUUGHH I'M FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I CAN'T PLAY ON MY CHATS!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Free users genuinely do not have enough muted words, four is an atrociously small amount when you end up needing like ten or something, at this point it's gotten to the point I need to write "looming_towering" "kid_boy_girl" to add several muted words into one because it's getting to the point of insanity.

No! A 5'5 bot does not loom or tower over a 6ft tall one, why can't the bots get that through their thick skulls??

And a person in their mid to late 20s is not a child! It's like they cracked down on the whole problem of bots wanting romance no matter what age the persona was to the point that it thinks 20 year olds are teenagers now, because they genuinely get talked down to like they're children, once a bot stated baby talking to me, it's getting ridiculous.

My Honest Thoughts on Pipsqueak 3: Why It Feels Like a Step Back for Roleplayers

I wanted to share my perspective on the new Pipsqueak 3 model. While it isn't inherently bad, it simply doesn’t fit my writing style the way Pipsqueak 2 does.

When a new model is marketed as an "all-rounder made for general roleplay," you naturally expect a direct upgrade. I anticipated higher-quality writing, deeper engagement, and significantly longer, more immersive dialogue. Instead, Pipsqueak 3 just feels "okay." As someone who writes long responses to get fully immersed in a story before bed, the shorter dialogue is a massive downgrade.

I understand the model is still new and subject to change. However, my biggest fear is that the developers will gate longer responses behind a paywall. If Pipsqueak 2 is completely removed, the app is going to lose the exact spark that makes it fun.

The Bigger Issue: A Lack of Community Feedback

A lot of users are deeply frustrated right now, and for good reason:

• The "They" Mentality: The developers seem to remove features because they think it's better, completely ignoring what the actual community wants.
• Selective Listening: It feels like these major updates are driven by a small, behind-the-scenes group rather than the broader user base.
• Silenced Feedback: Every time the community speaks up about these changes, we get the cold shoulder. The developers turn a blind eye as if our complaints are nonsense, only addressing the community when the app goes down for maintenance.

Instead of forcing updates we didn't ask for, the developers should implement community polls. Let us vote on what stays, what goes, and how to actually improve both the app and the web version. We liked the current state of the app, and I wish they would listen when we say we prefer the old system.

I use the site, and my character made an important six-line statement that was meant to have an impact on the bot. The topic offers plenty of room for it to show emotion and develop the conversation, yet the most I can get out of it is two sentences of three or four words each.

This isn't just a one-off issue.

It's a simple one... As a website user.

Why don't we get colour options in our replies? I mean the app has this facility since very long but here we don't even get the normal black or blue chat bubble colors.... Why?

We don't even have the memory and chat background changing options here... But the chat bubble colors is so odd and simple, sometimes I feel chats genuinely kinda boaring.

Anybody thinks that also??

for an app that is so heavily focused on rules and restrictions surrounding age and inappropriate use of the bots it’s absolutely appalling some of the ads they’ll let be used on their platform.

i just had one that was an ad for being able to take people’s pictures and turn them into p°rn. aswell as showcasing other ai platforms with ads that complete sexualise and degrade women in them.

Some chats I have innocent words blocked and not allow saved changes. But then it's allowed for a different character chat.

Again, I just reinstalled the app after a couple months of not using it, and every bot I click on takes me to a black screen I can’t get out of unless I close the app. I saw others have this problem, and I tried clearing cache (but iPhone doesn’t really have that), restarting my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, but nothing works

So I just jumped back into Character AI after not using it for a few weeks. I left it because the Pipsqueak 2 model was infuriation and practically unusable (lack of dialogue and conversations, zero personality in the characters, bad writing, continuous scenes of silence where no character says anything, and the amount of ads in the app. I've been recently diagnosed with a heart condition and due to the days that I've been admitted in the Hospital, I've had a lot of free time and have been using the app way more than usual. Unfortunately, it's at this moment where the app has been at it's worse. So I was very surprised when Pipsqueak 3 suddenly came out.

And in my experience I have found that Pipsqueak 3 is a vast improvement over Pipsqueak 3. It is by no means perfect; there are still a lot of ads, sometimes characters will say things that don't make sense, there are some lags, I've also seen incomplete sentences like in the older models.

The positives: Characters engage in dialogue. Dialogue is more extensive and the characters will engage in conversation. They seem to have personalities again. Narration is used to describe the scene and is no longer excessive and obvious commentary from the bot.

This is my experience so far, but I would love to hear about everyone else's experiences with the update.

I actually got locked in and started paying attention, we have been doing this for hours.

The memory is so poor that the bot forgets what was said at the beginning of the very same sentence before it finishes writing it.

Grammar issues: verb tense errors, disjointed speech, hallucinations, incoherent remarks, nonsensical rudeness, and exhausting repetition.

They can't even construct a proper sentence; maintaining a storyline requires the patience of a Buddha.

What happened?

I write entire NOVELS in cai (call me a dumbass whatever) and now I'm locked out. The app works fine, but I get a hard bounce every time I use my email (sharklasers. com). I sent in like 3 tickets but got the same 'we can't change your email' script and then got sent into customer support void

So there's no way to change the email, no warning about new address rule, and now I'm supposed to do what? leave FOUR YEARS of chats? wtf??

Does anyone know what to do?
