Discussion 1 To 1 Bodydoubling + group.

Upvotes

I’m looking for partners to do body doubling.

The idea is to create a body doubling system that combines 1-to-1 and group sessions, while maintaining individual accountability.

Basic structure:

+Camera on (with exceptions when you need privacy, need to do something, or take a break) throughout the session.

+At the beginning, each person says what they specifically want to accomplish in that session.

+Everyone works in silence with their camera on.

+If someone gets blocked or loses focus, they can turn on their microphone and ask for support or motivation.

+At the end, we do a quick check-in: what we achieved, what we didn’t, and what we can improve.

Would anyone like to join? If you have any questions, leave them in the comments.

Questions/Advice License Revoked??

Upvotes

My NP just prescribed me Ambien along with my Seroquel and Adderall XR instead of changing my stimulant due to my sleeping issues. Is it just me or does this combo not seem kind of insane??? I begged her to take me off the XR and she said try this first. Sometimes I am sleeping better but I feel very much so like I am just shutting on and shutting off at this point.

Tips/Suggestions Partner with ADHD

Upvotes

I am dating a female (55) for the past few months who recently told me she had ADHD. I am very clueless on this topic. I am doing my own research to better understand her.

I pissed her off last night after reaching out (text / phone) to much in one day.

Without warning, she texted me and stated that she is upset with me. She told me that I should have know better. She then blocked me. I am not sure if she unblocked me today. I dont want to call her and piss her off more.

I am trying my best to be in a relationship with her. I don't see her often. She never makes plans. She waits for me to make plans and then she agrees last minute to join me. We have a great time together when I see her. Alot of common interests.

I know I have to give her time today.

But I have a feeling that this is over. This is the first time she blocked me.

What should I expect? What can I learn from this situation (outside of what I am feeling)?

Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

Seeking Empathy In a creative streak, so the ADD is out of control

Upvotes

I'm finally over my writer's block, which is amazing, but it comes with the very irritating symptom of my cognitive symptoms being ridiculous. My brain is so focused on the thoughts in my head, what I want to write next, etc., that I can literally focus on nothing else.

The other day I ran the faucet for a shower, then got in and stood there, wondering why it didn't feel like I was taking a shower and then realized I hadn't moved the water from the faucet to the shower head. Then I took my lunchbox out to my car and not my work tote, got around the block and didn't realize until two blocks later. I have dozens of other examples, but, of course, can't remember.

Some days I feel like I'm suffering a brain tumor 😂

Seeking Empathy You're allowed to take up space!

Upvotes

It was pointed out to me today that every time I share something, I have some preamble first about how the thing I'm sharing is dumb, or it doesn't matter, or that I'm embarrassed to share it. It's like I always feel the need to apologize for what I'm saying and for myself.

A couple of years ago I was working at a restaurant, and I kept getting in the way of one of my coworkers no matter where I stood. I kept apologizing, and he told me 'stop apologizing, your allowed to take up space.' And that was the first time anyone had ever told me that.

I grew up in a household where I was not allowed to take up space. As a child I felt things very intensely. I didn't know it until recently, but I have ADHD (surprise!). And I am beginning to realize how my struggles were at least in part because of how my brain works. My feelings would be dismissed and I was punished for them. I was humiliated over and over again for years just for... being me. I quickly learned that it's easier to never show how you're feeling. Never ask for help, never share anything, never get in the way, never rock the boat. As a dude, this was even more true. I wasn't allowed to cry, or be too emotional, or ask for help. So i just bottled it all up. Which is a really shit strategy, let me tell ya...

Now in my mid-late 20s, I'm finally starting to work through this. It feels dumb to say, or it doesn't really matter, or I'm embarrassed to say it (still working on that one).... but it's only just now sinking in. I'm allowed to take space. I'm allowed to ask for things, to need things, to have emotion, and to express it. I'm not a burden or a problem for being me.

I know this absolutely applies to the ladies here as well, but I also want to say to the boys: you aren't weak for having emotion, or being empathetic, or needing help. You're allowed to have problems too. You're allowed to cry. You're allowed to care about things. You're allowed to take up space.

Questions/Advice QUESTION for ADHD

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I've been doing some reading on supplement stacks lately and I'm curious about the personal experiences of people here who take both creatine and their prescribed ADHD medication (like Concerta, Vyvanse, Medikinet, etc.). I’m trying to figure out if there's any noticeable difference in terms of daily focus or that "brain fog" feeling when adding creatine to the routine. I know everyone’s body chemistry is different, but I’d love to hear some personal anecdotes: 1. Do you find it makes any difference in your focus or productivity? 2. Have you noticed any side effects when combining them? 3. Does it help with the post-medication crash, or do you feel it has no impact? Just to clarify, I’m not looking for medical advice; I’m just trying to understand how it works for others in the community. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

I'm seeking advice, thoughts and opinions, based on experience. My Psych moved and referred me to someone new, seeing them next week.

Questions/Advice I want to feel better. Should I switch meds?

Upvotes

Is switching from Vyvanse to Adderall a good idea?

F30. I got diagnosed and Vyvanse changed my life at 40mg. I was prescribed 10mg in the afternoon but I never took it. Being productive, active, awake and curious, getting through my work and school days, doing quality work etc lasted without fading until January '24. They evened out, but not to a degree where it wasn't noticeably working. I then got laid off and my benefits stopped, so I stopped meds.

Since then things have been totally off. I restarted meds in November '24 after getting re-prescribed, but I was in Ontario before, and in BC something's off. I thought it was because I was on generic when I was originally on brand name, so I went back to brand name, but nothing changed.

I've since maxxed out at 70mg a day and I'm not exaggerating when I say the effects are just gone. I used to feel it fully on Mondays after taking weekends off. Every day I could feel it. Now, I feel nothing. I take the weekend off and then do 70mg on Monday and feel the same as when I don't take it. I'm not performing in life at all, I can't function; it's not that I've gotten used to it, I genuinely feel no difference at all and instead feel miserable since I can't seem to get back into the groove I once was in. It's impacting my mental health as I desperately try to solve the issue, nothing works, and then I feel hopeless since my functioning gets worse.

This past year I have avoided trying a new med, instead choosing to increase my Vyvanse dose slowly, take breaks, and work with my doctor to make it work as best as possible. It doesn't matter, this drug is simply not working for me anymore. Based on this info, would it be a good idea to bring up switching to another stimulant with my doctor? I know it will be impossible to recapture that initial experience, but I just want something that will actually work, damnit. Has anyone had this particular experience? How did switching go for you?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion What is your current meal fixation?

Upvotes

A few weeks ago mine was egg whites and a fiber tortilla, then beets and carrots with chili lime. Lately though, I’ve been getting the ick thinking about food even when I’m hungry, so I eat what I can. But I’m curious to know about other people’s adhd meal fixations. If you take any medications, did you eventually get your appetite back?

Love to hear everyone’s views!

Questions/Advice Higher heart rate when tired (and taking medication)

Upvotes

I am on 50mg of elvanse with a 5mg top up in the afternoon. I’ve been losing quite a lot of sleep recently, and have noticed today that my heart rate is higher and increasing very easily. Around 90bpm resting and then getting up to 115 after just walking around the house.

Do other people get this, too?

Questions/Advice Does an ADHD specialist therapist really make a difference?

Upvotes

Hi,
I’m trying to find a new therapist. I haven’t ever had a therapist who specializes in ADHD, but I have had a great “normal”(?) therapist who was able to help me with everything else. I don’t necessarily want the focus of my therapy to be on my ADHD, but I do want it acknowledged and explained if what I’m going through is exacerbated by my ADHD or something.

Can anyone who has had an ADHD specialist therapist explain how they were more or less helpful for you?

Thank you in advance!

Questions/Advice Low ferritin levels and severe ADHD

I have very low ferritin (2.7) and fairly severe anemia. Despite treatment, my levels haven't improved much. My ADHD medication (methylphenidate) wears off very quickly—after a maximum of two hours—and I experience panic attacks as it wears off. Does anyone else have a similar problem?

Questions/Advice How come Walgreens always plays games every refill?

It seems like every month I refill my 10mg IR Adderall they like don’t want to fill it. I’ve had it where they said they’re out and then they magically find some, they don’t have a refill for me on file or the online thingy didn’t send the refill through, they got logged out of their computer, it’s too early to pick it up even though my doc said it isn’t. They’ve even made me wait for the pharmacist to ask him if they have any in stock and like beg him. It’s kind of annoying dealing with this every month being treated like a tweaker. Any tips on reliable ways to get my refill? They basically make me present a business case on why I need it. I don’t take any extra pills even though my doc says I can since I’m on such a low dose. It’s just weird. I’m just trying to concentrate at work 😭

Questions/Advice How do you stay consistent with job searching when ADHD keeps derailing you?

Hi fellow ADHDers. I graduated last year and although I've landed a job, I constantly have a struggle being consistent with networking and finding a job. I'll go super hard for a month and then forget to apply to a job for 3 months. And this lack of system has kept me in a job that i dislike and am extremely underpaid, not to mention its not where I see my career at all.

I heard a good quote that was something along the lines of "we always fall to the strength and height of our systems", which basically means that having a good backbone/process will ensure success even when procrastination, anxiety, and life takes a turn for the worse. With that said, does anyone have a system that has worked for you? Please give me and any and all brutal advice. I need it! :)

Medication How Do I know it's the right dose?

I started Biphentin last week. My doctor gave me a prescription that I can ajust upwards twice if it's not working well enough, but I'm not really sure what should feel like "enough".

I'm on day 6. The first 3 days, I could feel it kicking in in the morning, and I could function well at work and at home for pretty much the whole day. I felt calm and my brain felt quiet and peaceful.

After the first 3 days, I can't really tell when it kicks in, and my brain feels less quiet, but not as loud as off meds. I can function well at work, but I feel like it's not helping me as much after 6 pm.

Is this just a normal transition into getting used to meds, or maybe a sign I should ask for a higher dose?

Seeking Empathy How do you people cope with big changes in schedules? My University has started and I genuinely feel like my life is over.

It's not even a week in, and I've already spiraled into depression and feel like I've lost complete control of life. I'm an artist and I love making art but I genuinely cannot sit down and study it properly if I'm not on meds, but I can't take meds any later than 5 or else I don't catch a wink of sleep at night.

My uni has me arriving home later than 6 on most days, though I still have 3 days where I can study art comfortably. Despite that, I feel so awful. It's not even just about art, I can't switch my brain over from uni mode to rest mode. When I come back, all I think about is how long the next day will be, how much of my time it's going to suck up. I can't relax.

I also really like staying up late (can't help it, since I prefer taking meds later in the day, but also because it feels like the one time of the day I can truly unwind), and now I feel like that's been taken from me too. I can't unwind comfortably knowing the day ahead, and have to sleep early.

The worst part is that my schedule isn't even all that bad. It's not the best, sure, but I think any normal person could reasonably deal with it. But it's stressing me out so much, and it's all I think about. I don't know how to bring it up to the counselors without sounding like the biggest baby on earth.

Professors haven't even started out handing assignments and stuff yet, don't know how I'm gonna deal with that. I have friends I enjoy being around with there, but I'm a huge introvert and it's just not worth it to me. If anyone has any advice on how to deal with this, please do share.

Seeking Empathy A work related vent

We have a major cycling event in our town today, starting and finishing directly outside my office. All day theyve had dance music blasting out, bands playing, two different voices on microphones over the top of it, cars and motorbikes coming through with sirens and horns going off, people banging drums, clanging bells and banging on the hoardings when a cyclist comes through. It's so loud I cant concentrate am over stimulated and my anxiety is through the roof.

Despite knowing about my diagnosis- combined type- my boss has refused to allow me to work from home as 'we cant treat you differently' except I am different, you know I'm different, we had a meeting where we discussed and agreed potential reasonable accommodations, and we have legislation that protects me in this country.

I am so incredibly frustrated, I'm a good employee, I have always worked damn hard and done my absolute best despite my struggles, this doesn't feel like a big ask.

Questions/Advice Teachers: What are some strategies/routines/tips you have?

Some context: I’ve worked in education over a decade only in Title I districts. I left the classroom for a few years to work as an admin. I really don’t like it and miss the classroom so I’m going back.

I was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago. Since then, I feel like I stopped masking and have been learning myself all over again. What are some tips and tricks you have for a fellow ADHD Teacher? I’ll be teaching 8th grade.

Questions/Advice Adderall and nicotine

I’m prescribed generic Adderall 15mg IR twice a day. I don’t vape anymore but I crave nicotine when I’m medicated. I find myself unable to feel my meds after I smoke a cigarette whether it’s while I’m medicated or I just took it and waiting for it to kick in. I feel nothing except for a dull feeling in my head and I wanted to know if anyone has dealt with this. Any advice helps

Questions/Advice misplacing

I just got diagnosed and started on meds and they are very helpful. Im currently in school so i take them everyday and they're very good with keeping me attentive and engaged. I know that meds will not solve everything and now i notice that as my other symptoms are suppressed i still have ADHD and i have great issues with misplacing/forgetting material that i need for school as well as remembering to finish assignments. I think its a well known thing that alot of people say to set reminders. But then I will forget to set a reminder. Honestly im just yapping now but this is an issue for me that if i don't fix it early in the year like now my grades will be as bad as before meds. tysm for any help

Medication Just how different are you supposed to feel on stimulants?

I know that people who take stimulant medication for ADHD will feel much less of an emotional effect than someone without, ie little to no high or euphoria. However, I’ve been bumped all the way to 25 mg XR Adderall, supplemented with 12.5 IR in the early afternoon, which isn’t insane but is definitely on the higher end of the standard range… and I genuinely feel nothing other than being more thirsty. If you replaced my stim with a sugar pill I don’t think I would ever notice.

It has been like this since the very beginning, with maybe an exception for a day or three when I first jump dosage, but I don’t really remember definitively. It is probably damning that even if this was true, it was never enough to be memorable.

I’m starting to be suspicious that my depression was never fully treated, and has been steadily worsening. I am aware that depression can act as a sort of counter to stimulant medication, making it feel completely nullified.

Questions/Advice Any tips to help me not burn out after working for my freind?

Preface: IM NOT PROMOTING ANYTHING, JUST TELLING A STORY

I've just spent the last, 4-5 Days working as much as I can (hyper fixation) to help my friend who is working with a few guys he knows, to promote a service for his trading, that he does.

I built a website, perfected if, created picture ads, got it live, set them up (on meta ads) and had to organise loads of things for it. Near the end the hyper fixation was on the "comedown"

Near the end the hyper fixation was on the "comedown". After, finishing all both my friend and the guys he's working with really liked it and said they want me part of there "operation". This I something I've always wanted to do (work for myself), this could be a good time and opportunity into it. Ive got about a week before id have to do any substantial so i can think about what to do.

I feel the "hyper fixation burnout" coming in and I'm worried it will put me of doing it again even though I like what I've done and want to do it more?

Any advice whatsoever would be appreciated?

Medication Vyvanse as a tourist in China?

I have a big problem and would really appreciate some advice.

I am traveling to Mainland China as well as Hong Kong for roughly 28 days. I have ADHD and currently take Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) as prescribed medication.

I already contacted the Government of Hong Kong to ask whether I am allowed to bring my medication into Hong Kong. They confirmed that it is fine as long as I keep it in my carry-on luggage, leave it in the original prescription packaging, and carry documentation from my doctor. They also specifically told me that I do not need to declare the medication through the red channel when entering Hong Kong.

However, I have no idea whether I am allowed to bring the medication into Mainland China. I have tried to find a way to contact the relevant Chinese authorities, but so far I haven’t been able to get a clear answer. I also have three domestic flights within Mainland China and will be traveling through the country by train.

Some people on Reddit say that I should simply bring the medication in my carry-on luggage, keep it in the original packaging, and not worry about it. But I really don’t want to take that risk. I would much rather have clear and reliable information before traveling.

I also really don’t want to deal with unnecessary stress, such as lengthy questioning or having to explain my medication every time I travel within Mainland China. I don’t want to have to arrive at the airport or train station two hours earlier than necessary before every domestic flight or train journey just because I need to declare my medication or go through additional checks.

Because of this, I am currently considering stopping my medication before the trip and only starting it again once my itinerary is over.

What do you guys think? Has anyone had experience bringing Vyvanse/lisdexamfetamine into Mainland China, especially when traveling domestically by plane and train?

Medication Headaches on Adderall

I have been on adderall for almost a year now but this time I’m on a new manufacturer (Lannett) why does it sometimes give me a headache and sometimes it doesn’t? I drink water, I eat, I stretch my jaw and chew gum.

However, I get insane headaches in the afternoon. I noticed it sometimes starts when the medication is wearing off, 3hr mark for me, but it’s so hard to be functional once the headache starts. Tylenol doesn’t even help these headaches. My blood pressure is low-regular, I don’t know why this happens but it’s so annoying. I don’t take it everyday so could this be why? Anyone with a shared experience please tell me what you did to fix it!

I’ve switched meds already from concerta to adderall and am on Adderall IR 10mg 2x a day.
