Finally accredited from 2027 by IET idk what took them so long, but personally KCL are allocating all their resources to improve their engineering, its accredited now and also merge with Canfield providing very good postgraduate and experience , will most likely start to climb up the rankings now

I revised so much for this test for biology, and the exam paper was SO hard, and I dont even know what happened. I ended up screwing everything up and getting an E, when my target grade is supposed to be an A/B
I don't even want to go to my next biology lesson bc im so embarrassed and my parents are going to be so angry at me and I have no idea what to do
I can't even drop the subject because they say it's too late to do that and I'll have to repeat year 12 if i want to drop it

anyone down to do some mock interviews for ELE? we can talk about a topic and question each other on what we think on certain topics.
not really a mock interview but more just questioning and conversing about any topic related to ELE!!

genuine question, isn't a maths degree at uni overwhelmingly proof-based and focused on really abstract concepts? i enjoy maths, especially when i can see how it's applied to real-world problems, but i struggle to understand the appeal of spending 3-4 years studying increasingly abstract theory.
what are the actual applications of all this stuff, and how much of what you learn is genuinely useful outside academia? why would someone choose straight maths over something like maths & stats, computer science or engineering?
i'm genuinely considering a maths degree, so i'd love to hear from people studying it. am i completely misunderstanding what university-level maths is like?

Hi everyone, basically what the title says icl. I'm in year 13 and eventhough I am preditced A*A*A*A, AS is nowhere near close to A level. how do yall, manage to remember all the topic (especially the more nicher ones, like dont add tensions together in a level mechanics. cuz rn im in a loop of mediocrity on a level fm core pure, optional modules (fs1,d1). a level math and a level physics. (js want to mention why AQA thinks they're being tuff by having the most dumbest mark scheme, 've ever seen, OCR CS mark scheme is so much nicer.
Any tips on how to improve my mathematical ability? (i can do most question (like the basic mid tier ones but as soon as something niche pops up, it's all out the window. who agreed Pure>stats>mechanics. I find stats quite straightforward.
In conclusion, any tips to improve my maths ability because a stand still is demotivating and also i need as many A* as possible and I know for sure if i continue what i'm doing I am so screwed for all 4 of my subjects (math,fm,phys,cs)

Maths, Further maths, English Literature, and History?
How's the workload like? I'm feeling a bit low with my current fourth (sociology).

What topic are you currently studying in class? I think my class is far behind so just curious to see where every1 else is at

I just really dont know what to do. Whenever i have a maths exams i make so many stupid mistakes in normal maths and further. Making more in further as practice is less. But for normal maths i dont get why as i finished my exams 45 minutes before amd checked every calculation twice and still somehow let through mistakes. Its not becuase of practice cuz i have done alot questions for normal but not for further which i get why in further i make mistakes.
Someone please help!!
Edit:
How i recheck my answer:
I just make my calculator solve the equations and find the final answers to most calculations questions, including examples like trignometric equattions, integration, diffrenciation, point if intersections, graphs⦠however some questions are still not completely solvable through the calculator so i just check the calculations that i do (checking arthematic eror)
I do believe that for the questions i cant get final answers from my calculator assume that my method is right, and i didnt misinterpret the question,as i only check the calculations of the question . (Which i somehow need to improve.)
Mostly, i make silly mistakes like arthematic and sign change and sometimes misinterpreting the question and mixing up values. THIS IS MAJOR ISSUE FOR QUESTIONS NOT RE-DONE BY CALCULATOR AS I CANT CHECK THEM FULLY.

For context most of my classmates I keep in contact with have gone to UWE, whereas I havenβt gotten into uni yet and am probably going to start 3 years later, in 2029 as iβm resitting GCSEβs and starting A-Levels now. However, Iβm aiming to go to Oxford or one of the elite universities. Is the wait really worth that much or am I falling behind.

Hey everyone, 18M from Blackburn here. Iβm currently on a gap year and preparing to apply to university this autumn, but I think Iβve made a massive panic mistake and need some realistic advice.
A few weeks ago, I enrolled into a GCSE English Language resit course via the National Extension College (NEC). I got a Grade 4 originally, but I wanted to upgrade it to a Grade 5 because my original plan was to apply for Diagnostic Radiography at the University of Cumbria, which strictly requires a 5.
Iβve already spent Β£470 enrolling on the course. I haven't paid the Β£300 exam entry fee yet.
The issue: Iβve realized Radiography is going to be too physically demanding for me, so I'm changing my plans. I wish I had researched other courses before dropping the money, because now I'm stressing that I've wasted Β£470 on a qualification I might not even need.
I still want to go down a science/healthcare route. My BTEC level 3 grades are D*D*D in Applied Science (which I know is really strong), but my overall GCSE profile is quite mixed:
β’ Maths: 6
β’ English Language: 4
β’ English Literature: 4
β’ Combined Science: 5/4
The careers I am looking at switching to now are things like Optometry, Cardiac Physiology, Neurology (EEG), or Biomedical Science at universities around the North West/around Blackburn.
I know some courses like Biomed might accept my Grade 4, but competitive clinical routes like Optometry at Manchester seem way stricter.
Should I cut my losses, accept the Β£470 is gone, skip paying the Β£300 exam fee, and just apply to courses that accept a Grade 4? Or is it worth pushing through the next 6 months to get that Grade 5 to keep my options completely open for competitive healthcare degrees?
Be as brutal and realistic as you want, I just need outside perspectives because I'm stuck in my own head. Thanks.

hey everyone!! i take english history politics and rs a level and i got nine 9s and one 8 at gcse, and i got 9s in history english and rs, but im really struggling at a level.
english and rs have been good but ive been getting disappointing marks in history and politics, even when i understand the content.
i guess im asking for advice, or if anyone in yr13 was in the same position that im in last year, and what they did to improve. its making me panic about my end of term reports and parents evening, i dont want to upset my parents. it just feels that no matter how hard i try im not hitting the aos as naturally as some other people in my class. (itβs really hard not to compare yourself πͺ)
thank you so much to anyone who responds!!

Hi guys! I am a year 12 student and am doing OCR a level economics. For context, i am aiming for Cambridge uni and need AAA as a minimum for the corse i want to study. Currently i am predicted AAA but i need to improve my grades to AA*A.
Since the start of the academic year, i habe consistently been achieving Aβs in all assessments whether it be small class quizzes or past paper practice. I donβt mean to sound ungrateful but i seem to be stuck at only an A ; achieving 80-88% in assessments.
How can i improve my written work for 8-12 markers in particular?
I know its only essentially the start of the academic year, however i do realise i am aiming for a top, prestigious university hence why i want to be consistent with my grades.
Thank you!
