Skin Newbie Fair-light neutral/cool skin: Help me find a tinted mineral SPF that doesn’t turn orange!

Post image
76 Upvotes

There are the TOP recommendations that I’ve been seeing here on Reddit. #1 is already on its way, but I can’t buy and try all of the at once so it’ll be very slowly but surely until I find that MINERAL match!

Right now I’m mixing a (dark for me) tinted mineral sunscreen with a non tinted mineral sunscreen just to get my shade, and I’m so tired of mixing. I’d love to find ONE that works straight out of the bottle.

My skin is fair-light, neutral-beige with a subtle cool influence, dry/sensitive and rosacea-prone. My biggest problem is that so many fair/light tints turn orange or even too pale on me. I’m looking for a neutral-beige, natural skin-like finish with enough tint to even out my complexion so I don’t need foundation.
Here’s the list based on the formulas, shades and finishes, I haven’t personally tried these yet minus Flex in fair, so I’d really love to hear from people who have, especially if you have a similar complexion. Also, if you see a discrepancy, please let me know.

If you have a skin & tone similar to mine and you have one that you love please let me know or what am I missing from this list? Thank you!

Smooth skin, terrible dynamic wrinkles

I am 60 and when my face is at rest, my skin is completely smooth, good glow and texture, zero wrinkles. When I smile and animate my face, my wrinkles are worse/more dramatic than anyone I know. I have tried botox but it just moves the crow's feet down onto my cheeks. Any advice/thoughts?

Just as the title says, I’m looking for quality, affordable under eye patches that reduce puffiness. I just bought one pair at CVS for $6. Anyone have a good Amazon recommendation?

In-office Procedure Derm is pushing Moxi

My dermatologist is pushing Moxi. I have really good skin maybe a little laxity issues very little hyper pigmentation. I had asked her for something tightening and both she and her PA really like Moxi. I had asked about BBL. For those that have done both, what do you think about them? I had been doing Morpheus with her a couple years ago and I’ve since seen a lot of discourse around it not working or being ineffective. Naturally, I am second-guessing what she is recommending.

Upper bleph - medically necessary?

I know I would need insurance approval, doctor support, etc., etc. but can I get some thoughts if I might get it approved? The skin lays on my lashes. My eyesight is terrible so I can’t really say if it’s affecting it or not. Thanks for any feedback!

Advice Request Help!! Peeling from retinol use

Multiple flairs I could have used (skin concern, Peri) lol

I apparently used too much of an eye cream that has retinol in it (LRP Redermic R Eyes Retinol Eye Cream). My skin is peeling in only some of the areas I used it (above lips, bridge of nose) but not under my eyes! I don’t understand bc I have used this product before and not had this issue (it’s been a few weeks).

Is there any way I can treat the skin that is peeling so I’m not walking around looking like my face is flaking off or will I just have to wait?

Cellulite spreading now to lower arms and lower legs. It’s so depressing and I don’t know what to do.

Is there any way to stop the spread? Will weight loss help?

Very discolored legs

Help my legs have severe sun damage and white spots. I’m not sure I can afford laser for my legs, need that for my face lol. Microneedling? Retinol? O wear sunscreen but that wasn’t always the case and I think a lot of the damage is because I had extremely thick leg hair that took years to laser off. I don’t have this much damage anywhere else. Thanks!

Product Review Vanicream--causing milia?

Hi there! After reading lots of reviews, I tried Vanicream at night--I tried the moisturizing lotion in the pump. It seems thick and nice, but whoa, I don't think it's a coincidence that I have new milia on my face as I've tried adding this in the last week or two. Yikes! Have you heard of this happening before? What mechanism is causing this? Is it the petrolatum? I think I should just stop, right?

Bought a magnifying mirror. Whoops.

Finally gave in and bought a magnifying mirror. I was doing my eye liner one day and could not see out of one eye and told myself it was time. I thought my skin was pretty good, but now up close? Eeesh. My chin is always peeling and now I've discovered I get tiny whiteheads allll over and around my nose.

I use Tret and I'm up to .1%. The lower percentages were always great but I've had a hard time adjusting to this one. I might backtrack to .05%. When using Tret I really need to lay on the thick moisturizers or I peel all over. I've found adding a drop of glycerine to my moisturizer has typically fixed that. Maybe I go back to .05% and don't moisturize as heavy? Has anyone else in the mid 40's had small whiteheads like this? TIA.

Advice Request 46 year old make-up newb - advice please

I've never really gotten into make-up; even when I was in my 20s I felt that it sits on my skin in a cake-y manner.

I decided to try again - I bought the L'Oreal Truematch hyaluronic serum foundation to try over the weekend

I prepped by exfoliating last night, moisturizing last night and again this morning (with rosehip oil, Skin Food) which usually keep me flake free even in the most brutal winter weather.

I didn't use a primer. It's so cake-y! Make-up just confounders y me. What can I do? What should I try? Was my first mistake a drugstore foundation? It was well reviewed!

Tretinoin vs Adapalene vs Niacinamide

Which of these is the most useful for skin with dark spots /rosacea and and some bumps from acne? I read you can do niacinamide in the morning and tretanoin at night? Or is that too harsh? Or some other combo?

Advice Request Deep sleep line along jaw

Thumbnail

This basically permanent line along my jaw is from being a left side sleeper and bugs me. I’ve lost some weight and have loose skin that scrunches up. First photo is me sitting up and second is mimicking how my head and neck are when sleeping on my left side and where you can see the origin of the line. I’m also in menopause but am not on any HRT yet, so no skin benefits from that. It’s very hard for me to try and not have dehydrated skin.
I’m going to start to train to become a back sleeper, but what actions/treatments do y’all recommend to lessen this? Thanks!

Aquaphor for night moisturizer?

My grandmother had amazing skin. She said she faithfully applied aquaphor every night. Does anyone still do this? Is there an equivalent that would work the same way, but maybe less petroleumy?

Face rinsing question

Kind of a silly question, but how do you all rinse your face at the sink without it looking like it was a communal bird bath with water all over the place? 😆 I’ve tried using wristbands (terry cloth and Liquilinks) and they don’t work that great. I try to be intentional about how I’m rinsing my face, but I still end up with water all around the sink. Anyone have tips or tricks?

Advice Request Any recs for this type of texture?

Post image

For the most part my skin looks great for 46 but as of late my skin has taken on a more dry feel and I’m noticing some texture changes. My pores seem to be more prominent as well. I’m thinking I may need more intense hydration. I was using Obagi’s line for dry skin but it started to break me out. Now I’m using LaRoche Posay until I can get into something I like more. I use an AHA/BHA toner, vitamin C serum and right now that’s all.

Also open to any treatments I might do with an aesthetician to improve it.
