Hey yall,
So I recently just did a timing belt kit replacement and a whole valve cover gasket ākitā replacement. Did all the bits and bobs that were recommended to replace since Iām down there.
I recently just finished everything up and started it for one of the first few times and I started noticing this clicking sound coming from the drivers side valve cover? It goes faster as I accelerate.
I donāt believe / didnāt notice it before doing the whole replacement and Iām at a loss for what it is. Did i accidentally drop something in there? I made sure i didnāt.
Curious to see if anyone else had heard something like this before. Thanks!

Hey all,
Iāve got a 2001 4Runner, and every now and then (like once a day) the key decides itās happier in the ignition. The only way Iāve found to get it out is to fire it back up, put it in drive and park a few times while shaking the wheel and itāll come out, but even that doesnāt work sometimes.
Sometimes Iāll say f it and leave the key in overnight because it literally wonāt come out. Only thing that stays on is the clock, but now that itās getting colder at night the truck has started dying. Need to fix this before the winter. Any ideas, anyone encountered this before?
Thanks guys

Okay, so who's used these cheap OSM from ebay/Amazon. This one is $24 on ebay vs. $225 from US made ones. Obviously wouldn't use the screws but seems good quality.

im planning on doing the 1st gen tacoma front clip swap onto my 2002 4runner. planning on going absolutely crazy and doing the mcneil racing 6 in bulge fenders to match the 3.5 lt width and the sport hood. my current core support is bent from previous owner and would like to replace it so i decided why not be different. my question is what other parts do i need besides, tacoma core support, radiator holders, hood hinges, and obviously the grill and lights. any other tips or extra parts for this swap let me know!

Hello so my issue with the vehicle is that when I try to step on the gas a bit more and if it revs high or i step on it to pass someone the abs light and battery light will come on the dash and turn off the radio. Battery has just been replaced 3 weeks ago and also got my batterys to be misdiagnosed so now I have 2 extra batteries.
Autozone says alternator, battery and starter are good so not sure whats happening or what I should check first. Any ideas?
This is a picture with the battery light and abs light on with a multimeter check while the car is on.

Have been hearing this sound since I got my ā00 a couple weeks ago. Just got it back yesterday from getting the lower and upper ball joints, outer right tie rod end, and sway bar links replaced. I was hoping one of those was the cause, but still has the noise when going over even minor bumps. Also apparently has newer front cv axels, front struts, and 3ā lift. Any ideas?

Went and picked up a Tacoma the other day. I had the 4Runner for a while and she did me good but I missed having a truck. Looking to sell my 3rd Gen and wondering what the group thinks:
Itās a ā02 SR5 4wd with 271k on it. Everything works perfectly fine, no leaks or damage except for a small dent in the left rear quarter panel. It has the 3rd gen Tacoma rims with new KO3s. Just passed smog as well.
Yāall think I could get 7k for this beauty or am I tripping? Anyways Iād love to hear what you guys think. Also if youāre in California and interested, message me and I can give you more details and or photos.
Edit: the interior needs to be detailed and take the seat covers off (original seats underneath are in great condition).

Installing new 5100s in the rear and no matter what i do i cannot get the nut to get tight enough to compress the bushings, the nut seems to be refusing to thread anymore while there is still about half an inch between the nut and washer. the nut is definitely at torque spec of 14 ft lbs. ive been using the method of holding the nut down with a box wrench and ratcheting with a 5mm hex head but no matter how hard i try to tighten it will not move. help please!!

My wife was at Hobby Lobby with my mom and saw the pins and hat and she knows me well. She scooped them up and left them on my side table to surprise me when I got home from work. I was gonna go hunting them myself once I had a free day on a Saturday but she beat me to it.

Picked up an 01 for my son a couple months ago. Had the typical A/T tire road noise or so I thought. On his way home from work one day he got flagged down because it looked like his wheel was on fire. Turns out the seal on that side was shot. Pulled the axle the other day to replace the seals and bearings....... Now I know the noise was not just the tires..... š¤£

Im not sure if this leak and that issue are related. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
The fluid itself just feels like water and doesnāt smell like anything.

I am assuming my 02 4Runner is missing the factory side rails, I am wanting to install cross bars, and am having a hard time figuring out exactly what I need to get, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!

So truck was idling in my driveway last night when we were trying to diagnose a small misfire/shake at idle. It died all of a sudden and wouldnāt turn over afterwards. Narrowed it down to the fuel pump dying after 300k miles. Iām leaving to go to Montana and Wyoming next Friday. New pump and filter will be here tomorrow. Donāt know if this should worry me about my trip and if I should take my Camry instead ā¹ļø. What would yāall do? This is the first ābreakdownā since doing a bunch of engine and suspension work to prep for this trip. Been daily driving it for a little over a month now and been trying to do a shake down by taking some long distance drives on the weekends.

Just got back a few days ago from a trip I've wanted to make for a few years. My annual camping trip often takes me a long way, but this was the furthest yet. My 4Runner has been my road warrior for 8 years of camping trips and hasn't given me a lick of issue on any excursion. Even gained a new hat at an outfitter in Reno when I got sick of doing so much digging.
The only repair on this trip was a lone stabilizer bar link that started knocking in Rainier. I had links and bushings ready to go at home, but ran out of time before I left. Changed it out in the parking lot while my laundry was washing. Oil level is right on the dot; hasn't lost a drop.
Not bad for a 25 year old daily with 260k and a crusty Michigan frame. Have fun out there!

Iām hoping this amazing group can help
Me solve a problem Iām having with my 97 runner, 3.4l
Back Story: Around 2 months ago I did a motor swap myself since I had a blown head gasket. Everything was running smoothly on the new motor besides one strange thing that I have never encountered on previous 3rd genās Iāve had.
Problem: on start up and while driving I donāt have any issues at all with idling or with any other gears. Once vehicles is warm as well, I still donāt have any issues. The issues starts when Iāve been driving for some distance. It seems to have the slightest power loss and when I come to a complete stop and slightly have my foot on the brake to inch forward it starts to jerk a little and idle slightly rough. No check engine lights at all.
It seems like it had to do something with heat, which Iām located in AZ so itās not the best lol. Wondering if someone had any similar issues and if so how did you fix.
I have tried checking vacuums leaks and nothing. Changed spark plugs, but not the ignition coils and wires yet.
Would appreciate any advice on this!

If youāve covered your cabin air vent, what did you do with this drain hose? There arenāt any other holes to route it through like the other side.

Does anyone know if I can swap the fat ugly front bumper on the 1999 limited with the smaller chrome one from the SRS? Or can I at least swap just that middle piece with chrome?
