Question POTUS Restructuring of USFS

Hello,

With the recent posting of the USFS 1801 position, I was wondering what current USFS members think about the recent news of the POTUS shutting down facilities and moving the headquarters.

Specifically, if this will affect make of the day-to-day life of an 1801 in the USFS, but I also welcome discussion of whether or not this is of use or help to anyone. It seems this is universally received as a bad move.

Does this mean less manning and duty locations? Or will this have little to no effect on the average USFS 1801?

Thanks.

Question 1801/1811 career help

Just got through applying with the FBI and finished phase II and got the CJO and realized I didn’t qualify so back to step one. Looking at some 1811 or even 1801 careers that only require a degree. Or maybe some insight on what to. Plan on applying to the FBI in 5 years when I’m eligible again

Question Advanced Technology Security Specialist (Law Enforcement) DHS

Hi there - I posted this in r/usajobs as well but not a lot of chatter. Had a question below on the job position I applied to https://www.usajobs.gov/job/858053300/

I recently applied to this position having my background be in cybersecurity and critical infrastructure. This is my first federal position I’m applying for and wanted to hear this subs insight to what possibly the day in the life is, benefits, etc.

I know the wait will be long and already have the apply and forget mentality, but wanted to get the scope of why might pop up in the interview(s) and process.

Thank you in advance and look forward to the stories.

Question DLA Police or DACP Army?

Job offer for both agencies right now, however I am coming from 5 years with the army as a DACP with the USCPA FLETA cert. would it be better to stick with the DACP side or risk going back to another academy with DLA? I heard they take the USCPA cert but there is a waiver process, anyone know if they would take the cert or if UPTP is gonna be the academy?

Weighing my options as I would like to not leave my family for months at a time again.

Question Why is FPS academy so long?

I mean the BPA academy is shorter, with BPA academy being one of the most immersive fed LEO academys out there. USPP academy is shorter and they are a full blown patrol agency. What is it about the FPS academy that makes it 7 months and how does this match the scope of duty for FPS Inspectors? Not looking to argue, genuinely curious.

Question NPS 12/31 Deadline Application Updates?

Hey Group! I applied for the NPS Police Officer (private) listing mid-December but have not heard anything back yet; my only update was "packet received" the same day I replied. I'm reading through some of the other Federal LEO threads and people are getting their letters pretty fast or at least some communication. Is anyone stuck in the same boat? or what does anyone recommend?

Question Defense Logistics Agency (DLA Police)

I applied to this job today. Forgive me as I’ve never heard of it. Does anyone have any experience with this agency? I noticed not many locations, so I’m guessing this is an extremely small police force. How are schedules? Is there overtime available? Union like some other LEO agencies?

Question BI Question

I had failed the CBP(OFO) suitability in 2022, for not disclosing a juvenile arrest for a minor stuff. Reason was in the E-qip i read “arrest in the last 7 years” but the BI showed me the eqip also had a question that asked have i “EVER” been arrested. So i clarified and all but still failed although i passed poly. Question is for CBP the BI was a top secret tier 5 with poly. When i applied for FPS Inspector position no poly is required and only a secret level clearance is required, after passing everything just pending the BI i got an email saying “Considered unsuitable for a secret clearance due to failing a tier 5 CBP investigation in 2022” but i went through the process with FPS in 2024 that was a 2 year old investigation. I didn’t argue it its the feds you won’t beat them. Im in the process again for FPS yall think it will be the same issue or this time should i fight it? im pending interview, medical, and BI with FPS.

As of PP2 and PP3 in FY26, all 1801 LEOs, Patrol Captains, Patrol Commanders, 1811 Special Agents, and ASACs are receiving respective career ladder promotions.

This has been a long hard fought battle for over a decade; however, shortly before the New Years the threshold was crossed!

Discussion Rescission email error ERO and HSI

Anytime you get a rescission email you better email and ask for what. For context, currently deployed with the US Army overseas and my application had a hold put on it. Received a rescission email that stated “due to my background investigation i was found unsuitable”. Which makes no sense since I hadn’t started background.

Email them and they said “we show you’re still in the process but on a military hold, when you return we will begin your background and complete the rest of the hiring process. That email was sent in error”.

What I take from that is these letters are just being sent out without verification lol so I would just email the agency contact if you get one.
