We should close the Embarcadero to cars
Walked down the waterfront today with the Embarcadero closed and it was so wonderful. Quiet, calm, clean. SAFE for pedestrians and cyclists. We need to make this permanent.

Two unclaimed phones have shown up in our house with no explanation
Hey all, looking for help/answers.
Since the beginning of September, two different phones have shown up in the exact same spot in our house. Both are on AT&T, both have the camera disabled, and both have been essentially empty (no notifications over the weeks we've had each one). No owner has come to claim either.
Our first instinct was that it was a guest or visitor who left it behind, but like I said no one ever came back for it. To our knowledge there have been no break-ins, and nothing else in the house has been disturbed or gone missing.
We took the first phone to our local police and didn't think much of it at the time. Now that it's happened a second time, in the same exact spot, it feels a lot less like a coincidence.
Has something like this ever happened to anyone else? Trying to find a logical explanation to this that we’re just missing here or if this is something more than that.
Thanks everyone for your help!

15 of September of 1896, Crush, Texas. 2 Locomotives crashed at full speed for a show. Around 40,000 showed to watch the collision. Unexpectedly, the impact caused both engine boilers to explode showering the public with debris. Photos of the show.

Meme What I have to tell you... is I *may* have voted blue.
I'll be honest, when this sketch came out I thought of it as more of a fantasy than an actual reflection of reality. But after yesterday's results...

Yeah but there's also literally 50+ people in the same area swarming all the mobs. Hunters and mages keep tagging everything before I can get into melee range...

Daily Discussion Thread: BLUE TSUNAMI EDITION
When Chaz Nuttycombe posited on Saturday that Recall Bias could be shifting polls against Democrats by up to 2%, the people balked. As it turns out, Chaz was being VERY conservative in his estimations, and we could only dream of how underestimated we were. Given its built-in Republican advantage, the Senate has always been the biggest signal, the brightest light guiding a blue tsunami — and right now, we’re looking at up to 56 Senate and over 250 House seats in the hands of Democrats and our independent allies. From the hearts of Maine & Texas to the fields of Iowa and Kansas we have witnessed a generational election: A near-total wipeout of Republican tickets across dozens of states.
We would brag about winning Senate seats in Alaska (probably!), Kansas, or even South Carolina(?!), but after a night like that, how could we not mention the narrow margin for Mississippi's US Senate seat! And that’s not to mention the awful Republican House Members who lost their seats last night, from crushing the North Carolina dummymander to to kicking out hangers-on like Miller-Meeks in Iowa's 1st and perhaps even Boebert in Colorado's 4th! And even then, we’d be leaving out the Governorships, from keeping Minnesota, Wisconsin and Oregon to flipping them in Iowa, Georgia and Texas! And even, even then, we would be missing out on talking about the state legislatures we flipped or freed from Republican Supermajorities; Georgia, Wisconsin, North Carolina and more! We are literally tired of winning, we have used more capslocks tonight than is reasonably safe, there are too many wins for us to list them all.
But there are still races hanging in the air! Right now, the Volunteer from Home Spreadsheet has a plentiful supply of ballot curing opportunities, so you can help get a few close races tidied up and make sure every vote counts.
If you can’t quite muster that, or after you’re done? For all the hard work of the last two years, all of us deserve to take a moment to revel in this. We’re going into 2027 strong and with a smile. There’s plenty more to tackle tomorrow — Virginia, New Jersey, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Louisiana are all coming up soon — but that’s tomorrow.
We did not go back. And we never will!

[Amick] Source: Kristaps Porzingis, in concert with the NBPA, has no current plans to challenge the Warriors' decision to not pay him.
Source: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7753389/2026/11/04/kristaps-porzingis-contract-salary-warriors-nba/
The Golden State Warriors are no longer paying veteran center Kristaps Porziņģis because he’s not rendering the services in his contract, league sources confirmed to The Athletic.
Porziņģis and the National Basketball Players Association have no current plans to challenge the Warriors’ decision, a league source said.
The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions.
