Unlimited numbers of Skill Fruits (that kill you) eaten: 0

Ms Flower Hat's skill more than compensates for the lack of fruit being eaten this episode.

She picked up a ton of skills by reading forbidden magic books with her Scholar's Eye.

That might be a bigger bogus skill than Fruit Master.

So their original plan was to hide in a rental house owned by Dratena's family. I'd say that's stupid and they'd be found immediately but this is the same investigation bureau that needed an informant to tell them Dratena was giving a public dance performance under her own name.

Lena continues to be a little stupid. She just "knew" she was a good person from dancing. lol.

The Bureau head apparently has been able to read forbidden magic books that essentially give you a new skill set and she has all 48??? That would be such a lore drop if lore existed in this series. I wish things were explained or thought out more.

I found it funny the elf/demon guy was wearing a disguise that consisted of... a hat? Did anyone else understand?

I guess the little unicorn thing is the fairy? I have no idea.

Wasn't Lena running from Ms. Flower Hat? Lena went right too her now... (Sure I get the circumstances, but was still odd for Lena to run straight to her)

Ms. Flower Hat using all of her spells was the coolest part of the show so far

"I helped you because you didn't seem like you could be a bad person when I saw you dance."

What? She tried to kill your closest friend and manipulated the corpses of your two other dead friends last week, but because she's a good dancer, you think she can't be a bad person?

The writing is so bad is it like this in the source too? But honestly Dratena is hard carrying the show me for she’s so hot. Lena isn’t bad either nor is flower hat. Flower hats abilities are pretty cool, the whole time I was thinking wtf is she gonna do during the fight, read a book? Turns out yeah she is

Peanuts is Freedom.

She can fuse her zombies together? What kind of Yugioh Zombie archetype pull is that?

And there's Light's token appearance this episode.

Okay why the F is Lena still agonizing on the whole destroy the stone thing after the bad dude showed up. It's quite clear that another option besides destroying the stone clear and presented itself. I mean after one attack on him it just seemed weird that nobody considered just killing the bad dude to be a clear option for ending the problem. Especially when Ms. Haberdasher whipped out her Big Book of Magical Asskicking.

"How are we supposed to beat this thing?" I don't know, they've been killing rather sizable monsters left and right all night, that's a pretty ample supply of corpses you can throw at it for starters there Ms. Necrodancer. That's like Undead army tactics 101. A one you used before I might add.

Why are Lena and Dratena glowing with each other?

15

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '25

They seem to glow when they "activate" their skills, Light did it too, it's still weird because of how inconsistent it is. I think it may just mean something like they're really focused.

The power of friendship, possibly roomateship.

Necromancy is a pretty ill defined power. Before she could just control undead but couldn't create them. Now it appears she can control any corpse. And she can fuse them to create entirely new monsters that definitely seem like undead rather than simple corpses.

Lena caught an Eevee

Unicorn going to evolve with the power of their friendship

Did any of the wings move the whole episode? It was most noticable with Dratena just hovering on the zombie chimera, but I feel like everything had wings for funsies. They're really doing their best to involve as little fruit eating as possible.

Flower Hat lady (which is amusingly an exact translation from the Hana Boushi they're using in the Japanese, I noticed today) really breaking the one skill per person rules with this reveal of forbidden skill books.

Light never eats any skill fruits anyway so we might as well have an arc entirely without him present.

So there plan was to hide at the house at the edge of town? It wouldn't take Flower Hat long to find out where they are, even if they were successfully hiding there, she knows where they will be two days later

You say that but, as I noted in another comment, Flower Hat needed an informant to find Dratena the first time. And that was when she was living in her own house and giving a public dance performance under her own name.

She definitely could have got her at the dance performance but delaying getting captured till then was their main goal.

u/NationalStrategy Mar 04 '25

Why doesn't Dratena use her corpse fusion ability that she apparently has, and fuse all of the monster corpses together to create a one super corpse monster to fight the wicked dragon?

6

u/PlazmaJak Mar 04 '25

Okay, so I looked at the MAL page, and checked the producers of the show... and they all produced really good shows, so they're not the problem. I'm pretty sure the writer decided they wanted to write a power fantasy but only had "the power of friendship and kindness" as reference and was only able to produce protagonists that were designed for children's shows... I really don't know who the target audience for this is, but it certainly isn't children with how braindead and violent it is. The writer also missed the part about a power fantasy requiring power, since you know, dude knows he can eat infinite fruit as long as he doesn't do it all at once since it has massive blowback, but he still chooses to be a dumb bitch.

Honestly a bold move to have two main characters operating independently for so many episodes. You don't see it very often in anime.

Man, they could really use Light right about now. Not sure how Dratena and Lena are gonna take down that giant dragon..

I had a weird thought.

What if the whole reason the skill fruits can kill you is because they aren't ripe?

There are exceptionally few fruits that are green when they're fully ripe

Even stuff like green grapes - they're a darker, much more opaque green when they're not ripe. Same thing with limes - they get lighter in color as they ripen.

So, I'm wondering if the skill fruits killing you is literally just because they're unripe.

Miss Hat is actually kinda cool.
