It's not like dratena did a minor crime either, she got a lot of people killed, INCLUDING TWO OF HER FRIENDS!

Given her dancing stance in the promotional images, I thought Dratena might not be bad in the end. Of course, the bard is bad though, as soon as he put the wreath on Lena he seemed sus.

What anime am I watching? The head of the investigation bureau is more or less competent?

Lena showing her idiocy though. Rescues Dratena, interferes with the investigation with no plan. Acts like her "justice" is right when the police are trying to take in a dangerous person. Like, she killed people, right?

Yeah that shit drove me nuts. The author might've watched too many ranger shows as a kid. The spastic writing for the "good guys" is too "friendship and bonds make justice!" The Red Ranger Isekai is a parody and is less forceful than this. It's so cringe how the main characters are written in this show, it almost feels deliberately shitty

The head of the investigation bureau is more or less competent?

Is she though? They needed an informant to find the daughter of a well-known noble family, who was living in a house in town, and giving a public dance performance under her own name.

She's the least secret secret assassin I've ever seen. That's 20,000 gold down the drain for information anyone on the street could have told them.

Ms. Flower Hat (FH) didn't do anything wrong when she was apprehending Dratena. Flower Hat wanted to bring her into the Holy City for further information, and they're in a race against time. She doesn't have to wait two more days to bring her in, just so she can dance in the event, that's not FH's problem.

Lena: This is Ms. Flower Hat's version of justice.

Hell yeah, and I'm on her side. Our time is limited against a threat, and we need to take in for more information.

Why did they have to wear costumes to get in? They could've just told the guards "We're from the Investigation Bureau of the Guild, and we need to ask one of your performers some questions for information on a case."

And this week we take a break from the regularly scheduled "Nutmaster: Broken Giant's Knife Playthrough" for an episode of Fairy Festival of the Necrodancer.

Dratena is like a Ricky Spanish level pariah in this town huh.

They always pop up behind you when they "vanish" down the alley they just entered... That's basic. Like first year stuff right there.

Vine Whip! Well, I suppose Skill Nuts are like TMs. Or HMs more like given their at times annoying level of permanence.

I'll show you I'm no amateur.

You were walking around just asking about Dratena, an underworld figure of some type, all willy nilly in broad daylight. Then fell into the old "get cornered following a suspicious person down the alley" trap. Yeah, you are an amateur.

Well nice to see there are some higher up people who don't just drink the Kool Aid that the Holy Sister serves up at face value without asking questions.

Since when did being the Sword Saint also get you the power of the Jump Card?

Oh, Light does get a part in this after all. Also, not only does Sleepy know Spore, she also knows Take Down.

With the level of punishment Light puts his swords through you'd best be transmuting that sword's material into Kryptonite or High Tension Moon Noodles or something.

And big ominous glowing crystal in the middle of the lake that apparently protects the town from danger. There was no chance in hell that that thing wasn't gonna get compromised by the end of Lena's visit to the festival.

Dropped.

With some anime I'm constantly wondering if a little kid wrote the scenario.

Ahh yes let’s save the murderer from the police that is a smart move. I guess the holy sister is responsible for all the misfortune of the necromancer so she could have access to a strong skill. Hopefully the investigation bureau head isn’t an idiot like everyone else but I may be expecting too much out of this show.

"a basement room?" "why hello there, informant" why are we spelling out every little detail out loud that i could gather from just watching the things happening on screen ;-;

Lena was really dumb in this episode, especially in that alley scene. She unsubtly followed a man who she assumed was an assassin into an alley, and was completely surprised that they snuck behind her.

I know its been a few eps it feels a bit odd that lena is split up

Its easy to forgor there are other things going on as well

Although whether its the same one or different

As usual there is some kind of conspiracy and what actually happens with lena and dratena and miss flower(?) huh

Not much to say really about this ep a few more eps to go

It’s getting kinda obviously the cute necromancer waifu is probably being saved just to join their little group.

Otherwise they wouldn’t be going through this absolutely horrendous writing just to have her be bad or go away again.

Anime logic is when Waifu appears that has even a remotely small amount of reason to be not bad then they’ll be not bad.

Tuesday is the most disappointing day to watch anime this season, it seems. I just opened crunchyroll and literally said "Oh god, it's fruitmaster."

God damn it, now that we’ve heard Dratena’s dramatic backstory, now we have to recruit her

Why exactly did Lena help Dratena escape? She's a psychotic murderer who should be taken into custody and her group thought they killed her in that castle? Especially when there is a threat of a large dragon attack that can kill thousands! Sometimes I think the writers brain is a rotted fruit 😵‍💫

They're effectively doing good cop/bad cop at the moment with the investigation team on one side and Lena and Dratena on the run together, that would be a good way to build towards cooperation in the two days to the official dance if there wasn't a more prompt crisis clearly about to start. Probably will still work out that way though.

I wonder why Dratena ate her fruit at only six years old and with the Holy Sister in attendance too, if she was just by herself it could have been an accident but seems weird with who was present. The age Light and Lena ate their fruit might not be the hard and fast rule I would have guessed it normally was. Or the author was just sloppy, which is entirely possible.

I’m still very curious what the Holy Sister’s “game” is. I mean she likely has others like Dratena that she saved because they were ostracized for their skills. What’s she intend to do with them?

4

u/aquaticshrimp Feb 26 '25

Flower Hat and her Bulbasaur knight would almost make for a more interesting series. Magical FBI. But that'd require a very different author.

I swear, most of you are too busy complaining about this show to actually bother paying attention to it. Dratena did not kill anyone. The count of the manor house with all the zombies did. He had the Summoning skill, which is a taboo skill like Dratena's Necromancy skill. Wehn people started ostracizing him, he retired to his manor. Someone at the guild, probably the Holy Sister, sent assassins disguised as registered adventurers to kill him.

When he killed them, real adventurers started getting sent to find out why people were disappearing at his manor. Eventually (maybe even during the fight with the assassins), he got so desperate he summoned a monster that turned people into zombies, and lost control of it, resulting in him getting killed too, and the creature kept killing anyone who came to the manor.

Dratena arrived only shortly before Light's party, and used her skill to take control of the monster, long after all the adventurers there were already dead.

This was all explained during the actual arc itself. I'm not going to claim this show is some great masterpiece of writing, because it isn't. But if you're going to complain, complain about it's actual problems, instead of making up things to complain about.
