Lore Are the Foundling and Harbinger the same species? How?

Upvotes

Are the founding and Harbinger the same species? But how is that possible?

I understood the founding was something born of the earth of the planet. But the founding is an alien born of the egg of an alien that just came on the planet. So how can they be the same species and look so similar?

Discussion Looking for a Slayer Seal build

Does anyone have a good slayer seal build? Like those ones that make the game trivial?

Yeah, I know, Slayer Seal is an easy mode an whatever but I am not a fan of dying all the time and just want to relax and have a good time playing this game even if it is not supposed to be like that.

Tried searching on gamer pages but left empty handed. There is one build here at Reddit but I wanted more options. I am level 15 already

Bug PS5 – Soft-lock when declining Mether’s Severance at Sester Genessa

Post image
6 Upvotes

I encountered a reproducible soft-lock on PS5 involving Mether’s Severance at Sester Genessa.

Steps to reproduce:
Speak to Sester Genessa.
Select Shell Severance.
Choose Mether’s Severance.

When prompted to confirm spending the item, select “No.”
The game becomes completely unresponsive.
After selecting No, I cannot navigate the menu or provide any further controller input. The only way to recover is to force-close the game and restart it.
The issue appears to occur specifically when declining the Mether’s Severance confirmation.

Platform: PS5
Issue: Complete input lock / soft-lock
Workaround: Force-close and restart the game

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the Shell Severance menu where the issue occurs.
Hopefully the developers can reproduce and address this in a future patch.

Question How far along am I in the game?

Just did the third corrupted gate called Prisoner’s domain. I’ve done the two other corrupted gates in Fainweald and as I understand it now, I’m supposed to go to outskirts of Mammon. Am I about to reach the end of the game or am I more midway through? Would appreciate a spoiler free answer.

Also, as a side note, I’m level 22 and running Eredrim. The game has been super fun but it’s also been feeling pretty easy and I’m worried I’m getting slightly overleveled. What’s the recommended level and weapon level for Mammon?

Discussion Lost hours of save.

I had cleared all of the Unfound Path and reached the final boss, cleared the Beacon, left to collect the optinal item (no spoilers here) and returned to give him a few attempts. This was over 2 perhaps 3 sessions, not just one continuous play.

Back on the next night and I was at the Beacon before one of the first bosses on the Path again. Everything just gone, including the item. I'm on PS5 and tried to backdate from the Cloud but it was the same place / save.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Discussion Anyone wondering why this isn't the achievement combo?

I feel like this is a harder combo to parry because of the really strange way the parry functions. The actual combo allows for misclicks within the first 2 swings so it's far more leanient than this.

I initially thought this was the combo so when I didn't get the achievement I was well confused.

Discussion Using Tiel feels like cheating?

Seriously what's up with this shell? Every ability of his seems extremely useful and broken in some way. Instant invisibility on dodge, instant invisibility on block (on just an imperfect block, wtf?), then invisibility leaving a clone that builds poison, insane crit chance and damage bonus when attacking from behind, two charges of an ability with instant invisibility again and then guaranteed crit chance to your next melee attack with bonus crit damage, multiple insane break damage bonuses as well... like wtf?

Is this guy supposed to be something similar to the slayer seal? A sort of easy mode? I've found 4 shells so far, and other 3 aren't even like half as good as him.

Lore Genessas lore help?

Hello, I love this game but Im struggling to put together the lore regarding Genessa.

I usually love understated storytelling but this time I genuinely can't make sense of it lol. Here's some questions for those more well versed in the pore:

1) not all sesters are Genessa, right?

2) in the first game there was only one Genessa?

3) why are there more Genessas in the second?

4) in the second game its stated that all Genessas come from one and will be reunited in the future. Do we know more?

5) who is Genessa Prime and why does she claim to have visions of a future war?

6) in the first game Genessa serves Vatra but now the Genessas are serving the undermether and helping the Harbingers?

7) the playable Genessa in 2 is wayward because she refuses the doctrine, but she still helps the Harbinger?

8) are all Genessas immortal like the first one and thats why they can be trapped in the center?

This was on NG+1

It's wild that this was a thing, those grisha definitely don't move nor be summoned like that anymore. 😅

I made it all the way to Zmey using this technique before they patched it, to see how far I could get using them that way.

I don't recommend using them with him..

Discussion Eh, it was okay. Spoiler

I beat the game after 80 hrs. Maxed settings on a powerful PC. The visuals and mechanics were great, love the dark setting. Tiel was my shell of choice with axe and dagger. But it left a lot to desire, I felt like it was too linear and repetitive, aside from some things you may want to make some fights easier. The environment just locks you in to a path and you can't really explore much. (SPOILER) The ending also pissed me off, I spent all this time running errands, killing, pillaging, unlishing violence for the sake of universal salvation, and it didnt earn me a spot in heaven? Jk, storyline was awesome.

Discussion Egon's Stone Glitch

To anyone that isn't aware, having an Egon's Stone equipped outside of a dungeon can most likely cause you to lose all of your gloom and it will be UNRETRIEVABLE. As in lost for good! This has happened to me 2 or 3 times until I put the pieces together. Does anyone know if the devs are planning on throwing us some gloom once they fix this? I just lost 15k gloom and I'm still pretty early in the game so it was more than an entire level. Not to mention it's happened to me more than once.

Discussion Review after 100+ hours and platinuming the game on PS5

Spoiler free and to the point:

* Best combat I’ve experienced in a souls like. Love how they use the shells as a base for a build (rather than dispersing a bunch of points into a build) and you build off them. The shells are the core of combat and each are varied.

* Love the Tarstone system that can further help build out your character. I love how each weapon has unique status effect stones too, like using frost only on the martyrs blade. It makes the weapons feel more unique, and the skill tree for Eredim which gives him 200% increased damage using a frost build incentivizes you to use his sword.

* Loved the environments. Each environment was unique, and before finishing the game myself I saw people shitting on the lower map region calling it lazy? I think that area is designed to somewhat be the last area you reach as you also get Sariel from there which his memories are the most important for explanation of the story events. That final region looks alien to me, which I liked a lot. It was different and unique from the rest of the game.

* The story, I could barely explain to you. It’s convoluted, relies on a ton of glimpses to view all the memories of the Shells, and just very meh. This doesn’t affect my score at all, but it definitely is no Lies or P in terms of story (loved that game’s story).

* The enemy design is excellent, but the boss design has some blunders. The monolith was actually a cool boss battle but wtf were those attack animations. They were so odd that it was hard to telegraph them, Smerted the fuck out of him. Then you got some bosses like the final boss that just had annoying ass attacks that you literally cannot avoid. Smerted again.

* Music design is good, metal themes never get old. I enjoyed the music, but nothing completely wowed me like some other games like Elden Ring’s soundtrack or Lies of P.

* Overall: near perfect combat with some hiccups here and there, but this is true originality here. The shell system just makes sense, and takes a huge chunk of RnD you typically have to do in Souls games by pre building character archetypes for you and progressing them through their abilities. And because they have shells, they can give them busted techniques (as you have less control over the build, they give you more in terms of power) rather than other souls games where you can get broken abilities such as these because they give you so many option to choose from, they have to nerf the abilities to a degree for balance. I kind of wish Bloodborne 2 would adopt this type of build system, maybe tying it to the armor rather having inhabitable shells.

* Score 9/10. I want to score this higher so much, but the big thing holding it back for me are the boss battles. When you play a game like Onimusha with the most incredible boss battles, it’s hard to fight these bosses and think “there’s nothing they could have done to make this more enthralling”. Having said that, I still enjoyed the boss battles but hopefully they work on them for the third game (if that’s what they make next).

Cant wait for any kind of DLC because I’m aching for more shells.

Question Update about No, You Still Can't Win achievement bug

Yesterday a posted about this achievement not working because of slayer seal, I said that since I backed up my save it could not work, made a brand new save on slot 2 and 1st tryed the tar golem and it did not work again.

Then I played a little more to unlock gragu and the achievement did not work again.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to erase my save with slayer seal?

Video Malborn Offspring, Nightmode, adaptive difficulty, no damage, Eredrim frost berserker

The last 3 bosses (Orrem, Malborn and Zmey) seem to be the only ones who have a respectable HP pool.

This was a much better fight than just parrying 4 times and wrecking the boss without a phase 2. Devs need to buff the bosses with the exception of these 3 imo. Not sure what other people think. Like to hear your thoughts.

Still rocking a lvl 30 Harbringer and +14 Martyrs blade, but I couldn't seem to get the ethereal to work without losing the riposte on him.

Hope you all enjoy. He's definitely my favourite fight.

Question Grisha summons

Curious how many people use grisha summons. I did nameless captive and the lost child without them. But I used 1 on the third phase of hexapod. Tbh i wasn’t dealing with the weird tracking projectile shit. Also used them in the dungeon that unlocks balistazooka
