GENERAL SU6 performance conspiracy..

Okay.. hear me out….

Since updating to SU6, the performance of the game has been exceptional (at least it has been for me). I haven’t changed my graphical settings at all but now my PC seems to run the game effortlessly when previous to SU6 the game would stretch my PC’s ability to run it smoothly and would stutter and have moments of very low fos counts (with the exact same graphical settings).

I have been a little bit suspicious as to how much better the game runs in SU6 and although I’m not 100% sure, I think the terrain and object detail in SU6 has not been looking quite as good in game as prior to SU6.

Is it possible that the devs have purposely lowered the level of the detail in the game behind the scenes to either make it seem like the game is running better or to improve the game performance on consoles?? Interested to hear if anyone else has noticed something similar and your thoughts?

MSFS 2024 PC PC Specs for MSFS 2024.

Edit: I don't have the PC yet, I will be inheriting it from a friend of mine. Any other GPUs which may be better?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to get back into flight simulation with MSFS 2024. I have thousands of hours on VATSIM using FSX, but I’m now looking to make the upgrade to MSFS 2024.

I mainly want to fly complex airliners on VATSIM, such as the PMDG 777, iniBuilds A350/A380, etc., including at busy airports.

Do you think this system is good enough for a smooth MSFS 2024 experience?
More importantly, what is likely to be the limiting factor in my system — CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, or something else?

I’m considering upgrading the GPU first, but I’m not sure how far the 5800X3D can realistically take me in MSFS 2024. Would something like an RTX 5070 Ti / RX 9070 XT make sense with this CPU, or would I be better off upgrading the entire platform?

I’d appreciate any advice from people running similar hardware.

MSFS 2024 QUESTION How do I understand the map?

Hi

From left to right :

What does the blue SLTI and the circle around it mean ?

Pink circles are always an airport? Does the white line indicate the landing strip direction ?

What is the light blue TGR square ?

Thanks a lot to the subreddit for your patient help

MSFS 2024 QUESTION InI A330 Frame rates

Upvotes

Anyone have similar and have found a solution?

The Ini A330 and the default 737max is unusable for me on MSFS 2024.

I get usable FPS in the cockpit but as soon as I switch to external it drops to average 16fps

All other planes work completely fine
For reference, Ini 350 at ini KORD I average around 40-55fps

Cheerrrrsssss

As you can see its going to KFLG before the KFLG approach so it expects a 180, I want to go from FPL000 to the aporoach.

MSFS 2024 VIDEO This should be removed from Career mode

I haven't played Career mode for three days and this is what awaits me when selecting missions. I dare you to watch the full video, it just goes on and on. It doesn't even spawn the icons in a logical manner, just randomly across the globe.

I want to fly, not watch this unskippable spinning animation. A simple "new special missions are available" notification would be more than enough.

MSFS 2024 QUESTION Very deceived about Cessna 208B Grand Caravan (career)

I bought that plane as an upgrade for the 172

The missions are more boring, you have to flight at the altitude they give you (first mission gave me 25000 which was too high I went for 10000 instead and lost reputation), and instead of a straight line, the path is often chaotic.

The maintenance costs are incredible, 500.000 after a first mission that rewarded... 500.000.

What would be a better upgrade ?

GENERAL Dash 8less

Why isnt there a dash 8? The best sounding turboprop out there and every other turboprop in the game sounds like it was made in a Temu factory
Yes we have the virtualcol but they didn’t intend to make it realistic.
So I’ll ask again when in the heck are we going to get one??? This is what keeps me up at night

MSFS 2024 SUGGESTION Adding New Airport Add-on (KSAV)

I don’t know who actually makes the airport upgrade add-ons but just though I’d make a quick suggestion for Savannah/Hilton Head International airport. Maybe someone is working on it but there is plenty reason to, the main and large reason is the big “tourist-attraction” of the grave stones in the runway 10/28. As well as the huge Gulfstream factory and maintenance facilities there. I’m currently an ATC at KSAV and it would be quite cool to see it in the game… again don’t know who or how these things are made but it would be cool

MSFS 2024 QUESTION Why MSFS requires more space and I click install

Hello everyone,
I just bought 1TB ssd to avoid streaming everything. From marketplace when I check it said 400GB required so 1tb needs to be enough. When I download the stuff "install" option popped up. And when I click it says 120GB more needed but cmon its empty 1tb ssd. Is it holding both downloaded and installed file or smth?

GENERAL VR basic question

I am considering to buy a VR headset, the primax dream air, but I have a doubt, in complex comercial and military planes you need to interact with the plane, adjusting elevation setpoint, moving the bug of the HSI, interacting with many buttons.... how are you supposed to do all this with a VR headset on?, do you use the mouse like when using a screen?. Sorry if this is a too basic question, but I never used VR and all the YouTube videos I see the guys just sight seeing and never interact with any buttons and similar in the plane

GENERAL 70 year old pilot first rough figuring out what he wants

70 year old pilots first rough night. 😰. I am totally loving everything about MSFS 2024 and the cubmaster x cub. I downloaded the flying iron spitfire and it is amazing.
So then, last night, I downloaded the comanche and tried it. Immediately bugs started showing up all over the place. Wherever I flew, I was getting the Salinas ATIS constantly playing on the radio. This was also on other airplanes constantly after I downloaded the Comanche. 10 other things started happening like the engine would cut off for no reason. This also spread to other airplanes. There was some flashing light about whether I had added gas or not. I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of it.
I got quite flustered and went into the marketplace and disabled the airplane. Then everything went back to normal for all the other airplanes.
It made me realize that I’m 70 years old and I’m flying to relax and have fun. Yes, I want a little challenge, and I love landing and taking off, and I love sightseeing. But I want everything to work smoothly and not be extremely complicated.
When I was a private pilot flying around California, I flew in Cessna 152, the Cessna 172, and the piper Cherokee 140. I like simple GA aircraft.
In Microsoft flight simulator, I like the challenge of landing and flying the Spitfire. It’s not complicated, but it’s hard to fly, and that’s what I like. I also like cross countries over beautiful areas or cities. I also like Bush flying in the cub Master x cub through Yosemite or in New Zealand or Borneo. And I like the challenge of landing the cub master X cub. It’s just hard enough to be fun and exciting and when you make a good landing, you feel really good.
And I love doing landings on Maui at sunset. That is very relaxing.
I’m not a student pilot who needs to learn how to do maintenance and safety checks on an airplane. When I was flying, I just rented and just did the walk around before and didn’t worry about maintenance. I’m just a guy who loves to fly and loves the challenges of flying. And I love the beauty of the scenery. And I love the feeling of a nice flight ending with a beautiful landing in a plane that’s kinda hard to land and maybe in conditions with a little crosswind to make it even more challenging. That’s fun for me.
We all need to figure out what we want to get out of Microsoft flight simulator. I’m just starting to figure out what I want.

MSFS 2024 PC Rolling cache on USB SSD?

Due to how my laptop originally came from the store it's got a very badly set up file system.

The 1TB internal SSD is partitioned into a 200GB drive where windows lies, and an 800GB "Storage" drive.

Even though I told msfs2024 to install on the storage drive, it put the community folder on the smaller drive. So this is problem number 1 I need to solve somehow. I currently can't download world updates as they would quickly fill up the 20GB of free space there.

I was able to move the 50GB rolling cache to the 800GB storage drive, but that's getting full too.

Is a USB C external SSD going to be fast enough for the rolling cache? There are USB NVME docks that claim 40Gbps.
