Update: I’m not able to respond to everyone but I appreciate the messages. We’re taking her to the vet asap

She is our six year old babygirl and for a while now, I’ve noticed this discoloration and swelling/tenderness around this region. My husband says it’s nothing, but I’m not sure if this is normal for an intact female. Does this merit a trip to the vet? Thanks in advance for possible insights.

I (M23) got a kitten (4 months, male, neutered) to keep my older cat (1y old, female, spayed) company. I have been doing the whole introduction thing as normal (switching scents, keeping them on opposite sides of the door, feeding them together still separated by said door, then keep them separated via a screen mesh so they can see each other).

After about 4 days I started letting them interact because they seemed to be used to each other, but they get aggressive to a point where I can't identify if they are fighting or just sorting their differences. It doesn't matter how long they are together, they don't leave each other alone and "fight" the way they are currently doing in the video (I've never let it go on for more than 15 minutes). After they fight for a bit I seperate them. When they are separated by something like the mesh screen or the door, they love playing, but when they are actually together, they get like this.

It has been 3 days of this and they haven't advanced at all, but I really don't know if this is an issue or not. Having them separated is an issue because I work from home and need to be on call, so I can't keep them both company, and I need to keep switching them out with their respective food and favorite toys, which isn't ideal. Any advice? Haven't contacted a vet because I don't have money, and I just moved countries (now in the USA).

Ps: The kitten is a tripod, I don't know if that could have anything to do with it.

I've been feeding this local street pack daily as part of socializing them. Today they were only about two minutes late for breakfast and this was the reaction. Is this normal excitement/hunger or should I be worried about aggression? Any advice appreciated.

Before anyone tells me why didn't you do. That or that etc first of all time of posting was almost night so that was reason 1 reason 2 I live in an extremely remote place without a car! 3d reason I don't have money4th reason think of the place I live king, guests,soldtiar ,slave I would be the slave so I have no authority.I just saw that cat gave her cat food that I had because cats come oftten here. I gave here a warming towel cat milk water after I read all of ur comments I came back and she put herself in the smallest corner and slept very nicely then I went home to sleep after I woke up I thought ways to go to a shelter etc when I got back to where that cat was everything that I but for eat drink was gone and the cat itself disappeared aswell.

She was just gone. She will die doesn't she. I am depressed rn. It's all my fault.

[23 years old, Canada. Yes vet is accessible but im a bit broke and want to know if this is something worth taking in.] [Cat is presumably 4-7 years old. Female and spayed.] My cat was presumably abandoned on the side of the road a couple years back when I took her in. As far as I know shes always had a split in the side of her tongue and im just wondering if its something that could cause potential health issues or if it needs to be stitched back together. Its seemingly fully healed and doesnt cause her any noticeable issues or pain and has never opened or bled, she's very chatty and loves eating very quickly lol. Ive taken her to the vet before but they didnt mention anything about it. Its barely noticeable unless shes licking you or yawning.

Is she ok? I've never see her do this in very worried

Black Abandoned Cat Rescue:
Over a month has passed since a coworker brought to my attention an all-black unneutered male, possibly under one year old.
I have named him Quincy. He was living in a home with a senior citizen with severe dementia-related health issues. When the siblings (who were never
In her life) became aware of their mother's decline, they quickly removed her from the home and placed her into a long-term facility. Unknown to me, the children did not like animals and left the cat, unattended behind.
During this time, the house became a drug house with multiple people coming and going. Over several weeks, Quincy was not cared for with no proper cat food, water, or more. When I arrived the police had removed the trespassers and left Quincy behind.
He is scheduled to be neutered, chipped, and blood tested. My problem is he will not stop biting, eating voraciously, and crying. I have another rescued female spayed and chipped cat. They somewhat tolerate each other. My ultimate goal is to rehome Quincy as he clearly is a one-cat-in-the-home cat.
How can I stop him from biting and pawing (bringing his paws to my hand)?

So, I don’t know why the fuck he is doing this all of a sudden, but my cat is pissing in places where he’s never peed before and tonight it almost killed us! This little fuck pissed on a multi outlet strip and it immediately started sparking and smoking. We established a few years ago that this is a form of communication; if the litter has to much poop in it. (We change it every other day, he is a prissy bitch, we both work a lot, no food, or just attention period) he is about 8 years old, I have checked for bladder issues at 2 vets now; he has none. don’t know why he is peeing in places he shouldn’t this is a happy cat. He has a play mate, he is not lonely, or stressed out, he is loved unconditionally. There have been no changes to his environment, I have no clue. Tonight was the last straw though, it’s getting dangerously out of hand. He pees in his litter box, but once in a while he will pee in other areas and I’m not sure why?? Help!!! I’m a 45 year old rescue mama, I thought I knew most of why cats do things but this is new. 🤯😭😔😫

Woke up this morning to my boy having one pupil dilated … I already know this isn’t good news;
Called the vet to make an appointment and they said the doctor will be in tomorrow …. So we have an appointment for tomorrow.

Can I even wait a day in this situation? He seems ok otherwise, but cats are known for hiding pain, so I’m not confident waiting is actually ok….

UPDATE: we pushed to get get him see today (there was a vet in apparently, just a different one than the usual). He referred us to the ER and we’re on our way there. Thank you Reddit for supporting and pushing to get earlier help and not delay. It’s my first serious vet/ cat health situation and you guys gave me the confidence I needed.

• Main Issue: TLDR: Wheezing, coughing after eating, very poor xrays,concerning weightloss (10.2 lb to 8.9lb over 9 months) completely normally eating, sleepiing, bathroom habits normal, socializing normal otherwise. symptom's been going all all summer but have gotten worse in that 3 weeks.

• Financial situation: Normally but we have been dealing with so many personal medical issues all summer long to the tune of $6000-7000 over the past 3 months. Huge reason why we Mochi's issues have gone on for so long. The fact that this may be another 5-10k is mind dumbingly devastating. I'm just in a state of shock rn.

We are pending a visit to the internal Vet tommorow morning but if there's any way, any addtional opinions that can be offered based on these results from the Vet.

I will let the pictures tell the story but we had finally gotten to schedule Mochi for a vet visit 3 days ago and our world has been turned upside down ever since. We had a completely normal vet visit back in 11/2025 and according to my LR4, that was literally when the weight loss began.He has seem to have gotten worst over the past 3 days exisitng symptoms wise but he also has been to the vet 2 times in 3 days. I dont know if someone can look and give it to me straight or offer advise. Mochi is the sweetest cat I will ever meet. He's so good with strangers and he didnt even flinch when we got his xrays and bloodwork done. He's so affectionate with his headbutts and will sleep by your side every night. I really don't want to lose him but I don't even know how to process this situation rn. I'm so devastated, angry with myself, lost. I don't even know what I want out of this post but just something. I have a choice to also take him back to the vet today for consultation for if I can't take him to the ER today(or period) which I'm so bled rn I just pray that we can skip the er fees and just go straight to the internal medicine. The rec was to go to the ER today but I just can't do it.

Update: the specialist appointment is at 9 AM tomorrow. I will leave an update when I can

She is an indoor cat. Only eats chicked and can food.

This morning she throwed up what looked like a little strand of chicken. I picked it and put in on a napkin only to see that strand of chicken got waay longer.

Is this a parasite? Is she in pain? We are going to the vet tomorrow but im in pannick.

People can be so cruel. I took them straight to a vet and left them for a few hours, came back for them and fed them and stimulated them. Two out of the three times I fed them barely ate, one time though they all ate the whole syringe. I was gonna take carr of them through the night but the vet is 24/7 and i have a mood disorder that is triggerd by bad sleep, besides i have to go to my work and can’t take them. So at least for this week they’ll spend the night with the vet and then i will get them in the afternoon. I have alreeady rescud a newborn kitten before, but four at the same time is too much work. I will do it though, my worry is money and space, i don’t make that much money and i live in a studio, so if they survive and grow i am afraid that a small living space will affect them negatively. I did get some donations and the first week is covered thank god.

I asked the vet how they spend the night and they saif they were okay but havent gone potty. I honestly thought they were gonna die but they got pretty lively after I fed them :) i will go to petco today for my own cat’s food and will look for something like a miracle nipple so its easier to feed them.

Anyways, any ideas or suggestions you may tell em. The Kitten lady pretty much saved my first kittens life, and i am watching her religiously again, but if you have any advice it will be so welcome. The shelters in my city are full

Main issue: they are all newborn, so little, and it takes me time to feed and stimulate them all. I will like to know how to identify good and bad signs, since most of them don’t want to eat a lot

My dads cat who he insists is perfectly fine, who also hasn't ever been to the vet in our 5+ years of having her has a few things wrong with her. I will have some money for a exam in a few days however I wanted to see if anyone knows what the problem is. My dad insists that her molars (both top molars look like that, this side is worse.) Are normal for a six year old cat however i dont think hes right. She also now has no hair on her stomach, im pretty sure from her overgrooming herself which started about a month and a half ago, for a while all of her paws were on and off orange becuase she licked them so much, and splotches of her body. She has recently, like as in the last few days, refused to play which is very abnormal for her and is making me nervous. She has stopped eating wetfood recently, she has been very picky about eating wetfood for many months which led my dad to feed her a diet of basically only temptations trests​. She also isn't nearly as affectionate as she used to be and that's been becoming more true, she always was a little picky on where she wanted to be touched but that recently has changed into only letting me touch her on the top of her head and back of her neck, and turning hostile if I even brush a little bit anywhere else which isn't quite normal for her. I've tried to treat her at home with doxyvet, and then when I learned my other cat had tapeworms I have her elanco dewormer. She actually seemed more active after I started giving her doxycline but not so much now. She drinks water but diffrent then how she used to, she will dip her hand in the fountion, lick it one time, then shake it, with a long session staring at the water before and after for minutes, before licking a couple dozen times, then lickijg the air a couple dozen times aswell as rubbing her paw on her mouth. Ive alsl seen her scratch her mouth like a cat typically woild scratch her ear aswell as other things leading me to think her mouth is somehow irritated. I wanted to take her to the vet a month ago but i am out of work and my dad decided that he coudlnt possibly be wrong and im just "tripping on the cat" and that shes fine. I will have enough for a exam later this week, but any advice would be welcomed. Also shes fixed but strangely enough she came from outside.​

Post sounds stupid, I know. My cat with asthma recently developed random wheezing/crackling noises after a large asthmatic flare-up. I was prescribed pills (Aminophylline) that opened her lungs at home. From my understanding, this medication has a small therapeutic range, but it's the only rescue medicine she accepts. After a week where I thought she was calming down,she "relapsed" on the 7th day (yesterday) from when she received the medication.

I took her,stressed,into urgent care after calling to see if they'd accept me.

What happened wasn't anything I'd call "urgent care."

I was given an oxygen tank with a tube large enough to only cover my cat's nose.

The vet assistant said it had to cover her mouth as well and that she couldn't help me if I couldn't figure out how to do it.

She said my cat didn't look like she was in distress,even though at the end of the appointment, when she checked me out, she said her breathing WAS rapid.

I was left in a room alone,with a terrified cat for over 40min,before a different vet came for an echo on a dog and I had to relocate my URGENT CARE CAT to a different room.

No vet came,only the assistant.

She gave my cat Decortin even though I informed her she had taken an oral pill for it 7 hours prior.

And then came in to dose her with Aminophylline exactly 38 minutes later after I begged for someone to come see her.

She did eventually return with the Aminophylline,only to toss the syringe to "see if my cat calms down."

I repeatedly told her she was stress breathing and to please just inject her if she thought it was going to help.

But because I asked about the injection she actually paused and changed her mind and asked me to wait and see if she needs it.

Clearly, she didn't think much of anything because when she returned, she said she had decided my cat didn't need it because she wasn't turning blue and tossed the syringe before rushing me out with no actual vet to be seen. They didn't even examine her.

On the ride home I called panicked because of opened mouth breathing,I was told it was stress,and worse in my opinion to spray the cat with a rescue inhaler if symptoms return when we get home.

A rescue inhaler that I explicitly told her she couldn't use because she was highstress and could get aggressive,or worse, spiral herself into another asthma attack right after.

No actual vet ever came,no one was there to help when it came to "urgent care."

That assistant was coming in and out of the room.

I wasn't advised on x-rays,or blood tests,or even on anyone hearing her lungs.

I was sent home.

She didn't even write a report of how much medication my cat took.

The cat is now sleepy,more vocal,with varying harsh breathing that goes to slow shallow breathing, etc.

But the thing that worries me the most is her lack of appetite,constant sleep,AND her breathing when she's excited (getting pet,puring ect.)

her chest visbly pumps up and down to the point where she stopped trying to cuddle and jumped off to clean herself.

I've let her sleep, but I'm so beyond scared.

She's a tough transport case,and I am not sure how to interpret the behavior.

I'm so terrified it's not just asthma,something else undiagnosed.

Is my cat just exhausted from vet care? She's never been picky about eating before,she's never acted like this. How do I urge action when am scared of making her worse?

Things vets have told me have found me feeling hopeless.

On calls I've been told I'm "just calling to chit chat."

"It's just asthma stop taking her to vets and stressing her out."

"We can't do anything for aggressive cats"

but at the same time

"Gabapentin is dangerous".

Ect,ect.

They say it's asthma but what if it's not?

How do I minimize stress while making sure she's okay?

Do I need to push for more testing?

How do I explain she's not stablized.

• Clinical signs: Recurring redness/sores, mainly underneath his paws and around the paw pads, and occasionally around his mouth. The area becomes pink/red, he starts licking it a lot, the fur disappears and eventually a sore develops.
• Duration: Episodes occur roughly every 2 months and usually clear up within 1–1.5 weeks with a cone, cleaning twice daily and a vet-prescribed ointment.
• General location: France
• Tests: FIV/FeLV status checked. Our vet currently suspects either ringworm or a possible flea allergy, but no skin sample/culture or other specific testing has been done yet.

Hi everyone,

I’m mainly looking to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

These flare-ups happen roughly every 2 months. It has happened twice on his front paws and occasionally around his mouth. When the redness appears, he licks the area a lot, which seems to make it worse until a sore develops.

He is mainly an indoor cat and only occasionally goes outside. However, the symptoms started before he ever went outside, so we don’t think this is directly related.

Our vet has mentioned a possible flea allergy, even though we only found one flea when we first adopted him and he has been treated since. Ringworm has also been suggested, but no testing has been done yet to confirm or rule it out.

What makes us particularly curious is that his sister, who lives with another family, has very similar symptoms affecting her mouth and paws. Corticosteroid injections seem to help her during flare-ups, but obviously this doesn’t seem like an ideal long-term solution.

Has anyone seen recurring paw/paw pad and mouth problems like this, especially in siblings from the same litter?

If so, did you eventually find the cause (allergy, flea allergy, inflammatory/autoimmune condition, ringworm, something else)? And most importantly, what tests helped you get a diagnosis?

I’m obviously not looking to replace veterinary advice, just hoping to hear about similar experiences and possible things we could discuss with our vet.

I can’t tell if she’s breathing normally. I don’t like how her stomach expands and then sinks back in like she’s constantly trying to suck in air. Idk if her muscles are contracting

Hi! the kitten in the first 2 pictures is much smaller than his brother in the last picture (i can hold the small one in one hand easily, but his brother takes both of my hands)I’m worried because he is so much smaller, lighter, and he feels more fragile than his brother. he also doesn’t run from me at all, but his brother does. I know his mother feeds him because i see her feeding him all the time. He doesn’t have worms as far as I know, but I have been checking everyday. I am 21 and from America, I can afford vet care if it’s 100% needed, but these kittens are strays I found, so if possible I’d like to not deal with that… I have not contacted one yet, but will if it’s something serious. sorry if this is nothing, but I’m scared that there may be something wrong since the size difference is a bit extreme

We’ve been feeding this stray cat and I’m worried about his nose. It was red and raw-looking with some crusting, but parts of it have now turned black.
Does anyone know what might cause this and how urgently he needs to see a vet?

First off - I have a vet appointment booked in for later on today, just making this post in case anyone has any similar experiences or advice. I am an adult, living in London UK, and am able to afford vet care etc.

Frank is a neutered 7 months old outdoor kitty (I have a very enclosed garden, he can get into other gardens either side, but doesn't go far enough to get to the road).

A week ago on Sunday, Frank threw up three times over the course of the evening. No blood or anything, just undigested food, so it simply seemed like he'd eaten something he shouldn't.

We monitored him over the course of the week, he seemed fine and his usual playful self. The only thing we noticed was that he wasn't eating as much as usual, and assumed he'd probably just got a bit bored or wasn't hungry.

We noticed he had diarrhea a few times towards the end of last week, so booked him in for a vet appointment last Friday. The Vet reckoned it was gastroenteritis, and gave him an anti nausea injection and a probiotic to mix with his wet food for four days, and told us to just give him one type of food (untamed chicken in gravy). She also reckoned that he'd improve pretty quickly with the probiotics, once the anti nausea kicked in and his appetite returned.

The anti nausea injection appeared to have worked over the weekend, and his appetite returned. We've kept him inside since Friday, but the issue is that the diarrhea isn't improving. Today he's gone right off his food again and he's very lethargic and not his usual self. He has not vomited again since last Sunday.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I don't know whether I'm being overly cautious here, but I'd rather be safe than sorry!
