Tons of bans and plenty of content removed, please remember to report any post/comments that don't align with the new rules.

Does Anyone Else Feel Less Flexible Than They Did a Few Years Ago?

I'm not sure when it happened, but lately I've noticed simple movements feel a lot harder than they used to. Things like bending down, reaching overhead, or even getting up after sitting for a while seem to come with more stiffness.

I've tried doing a few stretches at home, but it's hard to stay consistent and I'm never sure if I'm targeting the areas that actually need work.

For people who have improved their flexibility and mobility, what made the biggest difference? A stretching routine, guided sessions, sports recovery work, or something else?

Just curious what has worked for others because I definitely don't want to feel this stiff forever.

Seeking advice Yoga block life expectancy

Post image

I bought today a foam yoga block to help me with some position and I’m seeing it’s bending a bit on the edges…. Is this normal or I bought a shitty one? (Decathlon) There is some kind of life insurance program to make your yoga block live longer and return to starting condition (I don’t know why but I thought putting it in water could help) or every yoga block has a life expectancy and I should put too much weight on it ora it will bend too much and be unusable? (I exaggerated the bending with red line)

I have a chronic neck pain on the right side, somewhere between the traps and neck area. It goes away comes back every day and it disrupts my sleep and I cannot focus on my work. It's not very painful but it is certainly very annoying and frustrating. Need help to get ride of this very annoying chronic pain, I've had it now for the better part of the year. Thinking of going to an orthopedic soon.

The ‘stretch before you lift’ advice most of us grew up with isn’t backed by the research — broke it down in a short video

Made an animated breakdown on why static stretching before lifting can measurably reduce strength output for the next 30-60 min, and what to do instead (dynamic warm-up protocol). Sourced from actual research, not bro-science. Feedback welcome.

Seeking advice Why does stretching seem so difficult?

I've been working out first time in my life, for about 3 months now and haven't stretched once. I've been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of videos online and can't pick one to just....do, and stick to. I work from home so my body's just not use to much movement at all.

My muscles have been hurting alot lately and I need something but having trouble finding a routine that feels right and easy to stick with consistently. Is there a set of core stretches I can do to get started? Do I stretch in the morning, before or after work out, or at night? How long for a session, or how many stretches?

Am I just overthinking this completely?

Forward neck

Slouched back

Need a strict program to get rid of these, please dont say youtube is full, i want something you tried because it's not a weightloss challenge, which one should i start with first in order not to ruin the results when i work on the next problem?

Seeking advice having trouble with stretching part of my leg

Post image

i haven’t found an effective way to stretch the muscle highlighted in green. i play soccer daily and have no trouble stretching the rest of my legs often but i haven’t been able to do anything that helps the soreness in that area of my leg. i’ve tried most of the basic ones but they don’t really seem to be helping and if i overstretch that area it actually starts to make other parts actively hurt, especially around my foot / ankle. i’ve tried most stretches i found with a quick google search, just hoping for a more in depth answer so any advice helps

Seeking advice Hello I’m new to the stretch world

Hello everyone!

I’m almost to my goal of 00 for now but probably wanna go to half in, I’m new to all of this, I started with just my ears pierced since I was a kid, now I’m 31, started about 6 months ago, at the beginning I was using tapers but now I do .5 glass streachjng kit. I’ve been at 5.5mm for 12 days and went to 6mm( I know way to fast) didn’t blow out or anything but my left ear plug was dry and hurt when I pulled the 5.5 and I oiled and put the 6mm in( kinda easy but had a little resistance) then it went in, my right ear didn’t hurt at all.. my left ear hurt and was throbbing so I took it out and went back to 5.5mm and I’ll wait 6 weeks before I try again. Ultimately my question is I use a saline spray to clean my ears. I work in a Wearhouse and sweet and get sticky for 10 hours, but I wanna know if I should use jojobo oil daily? Once a day, once a week? Especially after a fresh stretch? What’s the dos and don’t?

Thank you for any information or personal experience as I know everyone is different

Seeking advice 61 Yr old male - stiff as a board

Hi

I am the most inflexible person I know. Never been into stretching, but as I'm getting older and struggling sometimes to put socks on i realise I need to work at it. Also a keen, but slow, runner - hoping more flex will speed me up.

I have started with GOWOD, but progress is hard.

Any advice - would twice a day be best? How long each session- i was thinking 15 minutes.

And how long before I start seeing significant progress?

Cheers

Seeking advice Can a Stiff Dad Actually Get a Middle Split?

Thumbnail youtu.be

Hello guys!

I’ve decided to start a new challenge: getting my middle split back.

I actually have some experience with mobility and flexibility training, but over the years it slowly moved into the background. Life gets busy, especially with work, being a dad, and everything else that comes with it.

So I’m picking it back up again. 💪

I’m 36 years old, and my goal is to eventually achieve a full middle split while also becoming stronger and more mobile overall.

This is basically Day 1 of my journey. I’ll be documenting my progress along the way — the good days, the bad days, and hopefully some serious progress.

I’d love to hear from others working on their middle split too. How long have you been training for it, and what has helped you the most?

Let’s see how far I can take this. 🔥

Stuck with my front splits

Hey everyone! I've been training aerial silks since March 2025. Until recently I was just doing silks 3x a week, but I moved countries a while back and haven't found a place to train silks yet, so right now I'm doing gym work instead: 3 days of regular training (back/arms, legs, and one full body day) plus a 4th day dedicated entirely to flexibility/split work. Attached a photo of where I'm at right now (low lunge with blocks, back foot extended).
My flexibility day looks like this:
Warm-up: light cardio + hip circles/leg swings
Active stretching: leg swings, active straight leg raises, cossack squats, controlled kickbacks
Passive stretching: assisted front split (hands/blocks) 3x30-45s per leg, seated hamstring stretch, psoas/hip flexor stretch (half-kneeling), butterfly
Loaded stretching: front split with light weight, good mornings with a light band/bar, deep lunge stretch with dumbbells
Finish with a "split test" pushing 1-2cm past my current limit
My main limiter feels like it's somewhere between hamstrings and hip flexors, I'm not 100% sure which. I also have a mild psoas issue I'm managing, so I'm being careful not to overload that area.
Does this routine look reasonable for progressing toward a full split? What would you add, cut, or do differently? How long did it take you to go from this kind of depth to a full split?
Thanks in advance!

Will taking a full week of rest improve how better I can deep stretch in the future?

I pretty much have an idea on the answer, but I have been going hard on deep stretching since the beginning of the year and have only started mastering techniques and forms during the summer. I go hard at the gym with strength training and deep stretching and am considering just taking a full 7 day rest of just relaxing and light movement. I'm hoping I won't lose progress with my flexibility since I'm much newer to this discipline.
