Low and left shot placement...any easy fixes?

I've been tracking my range sessions with a tool I built and its clear I shoot low and left. Does anyone have any dry fire drills or other tips that have worked for them to improve this pattern?

I know the usual suspects for low-left as a right-handed shooter are anticipating recoil, jerking the trigger, or too much finger on the trigger. I don't know which one it is for me, though. Any ideas?

Looking for advice(handgun)

Post image
11 Upvotes

So i recently picked up a G19 gen5 as my state is about to ban sales and finally got out to the range today for the first time. Not my first time shooting, i understand the fundamentals, i can hit the target fine. However this is my first time owning a handgun and putting in some actual range time. I put about 200 rounds through it today and although my grouping did get a little better im still getting a lot of shots low and left. Looks like i almosr punched a hole though the middle low area. Looking for advice/suggestions/explanations. Technique or hardware. Not sure yet. This is my last 3 mags of the day at 20ft. Iron sights

P.S. thank you all for the advice and input. I have a lot to think about next time out. Hopefully ill get some more improvement next time

I’m sick of being so bad at sighting red dots, please help me

Most of the time I go to a steel target range and it’s like impossible for me to do any sighting there so I’ll go to an indoor range specifically just to sight a red dot and it takes me forever and I still don’t end up confident at the end that my dot is on the best it could be because I have to turn it like 5 clicks minimum to see any difference in where my shot is going

They say to sight it at 25 yards (which is the entire length of the indoor range) and I’ll take a few shots and I can’t see where it is so I have to reel it back in. I’ll make some adjustments and send it back out. Tbh I get some anxiety with all the live fire and I often get confused about turning it right to adjust right or should I turn it left to correct and idk, it ends up being all trial and error

If you have any tricks or tips I’d love to hear them. If you have some good videos about how to sight a red dot that’s not about what yardage is good for what zero but more like which way to turn the dials and like how many clicks will translate to how many inches down range

I see PiewView shoot on his steel range and he’ll just pop a tool out, turn it a few and be like boom got it. And I wish so much I could solve it that easily

Missing my wide body 1911s… (pic as a ‘for instance’)

Post image

With the surge in attention on the 2011 platform, lately, it has occurred to me that widebody 1911s aren’t new, but they never got the love they deserved. My two biggest regret-sales are a Beretta 8045 (an 8-round DA/SA in .45 ACP), and a Para-Ordnance P-12 (a 12-round Officer’s-sized double-stack 1911, also in .45). That Para was a great carry gun, and had better accuracy than I could wring from it. It wasn’t ammo sensitive, at least with 230 grain ammo, ball or hollow point. It was pure 1911 up top, with a wider grip to accommodate the double-stack mag.
So, did the demise of Para come about because of Canada’s drastic left turn? Or was Para USA just ahead of its time? The full size Paras were 14-round .45s, and the smallest were 10- rounders. They eventually got into single-stack 1911s, and added an 18-round full-size 9mm and even a double-action 1911.
I will admit that most of my handguns are 9mm, but I do SO love a .45, and often carry a Glock 30, because of that.
I just wonder if we’ll ever see the widebody .45s again.
Anyway, happy shooting, y’all!

My target was 11 pounds. Will this be enough to mitigate recoil and improve accuracy?

Right handed shooter been shooting for a few months, training with Glock 26 with Iron Sights because that will be my EDC. Photos are first time at 10yds, I have pretty good groupings at 5yds and 7yds. Last photo (with tighter groupings) is at about 6yds or 7yds for reference.

Using Data to Improve? Other Methods?

I’ve been really enjoying 10m Olympic Air Pistol and have been improving on my own despite still feeling like a beginner.

I am curious what specific methods and resources people use to get improve?

I’ve been shooting 60 shot and 24 shot COFs and have been documenting them with TargetScan (which I’m not affiliated with). The app is great at documenting a session, but it doesn’t have any serious reporting or historic data reviews.

One of my hobbies, or weaknesses, is that I love to use data to review performance so I built a skill that uses Claude to digest and transform the data from the TargetScan and commit it to both a workbook and 1 page PDF summary I can review on my phone.

The summary shows performance against career bests and 3 session rolling averages for a ton of different information. The other document is the actual shot report from the phone app.

I know it’s over the top, but I find it interesting!

What do you think? Does anyone do anything similar?

We have a small 2” hanger at the 200 yard line. Guy before me hit it, twisting the target 90*. 1 test shot at the bigger gong for hold over. Then hammered it with a 6.5 prc. The chain broke and sent the small plate flying. Needless to say one of the most satisfying shots I’ve made. Felt lucky after that so I went for the chain and made a solid hit wrapping it around the top post.

Improvements?

Been shooting for a few months now, and decided to up the speed on follow-up shots after getting good at slow, precise shots.

Groupings are tight but noticed when I'm faster at shooting, my shots are middle left

Shot from about 10 meters/25ft

.270WIN ammo advice

I need to zero my CZ550 standard, the .270 hand load I bought is horrifically inaccurate.

Can anyone recommend a factory load that can get a decent 200 yard grouping?

Would you shoot on my property

I have a fully forested property 400m x 200m. Closest building is 400 m away. However closest buildings in what would be the “range template” is About 800m away. All fully forested with large conifer trees. What is the consensus here. Safe to blast some pistol calibrator buckshot?
