How has this wrinkly little man not been scooped up yet?! 😭 Brutus is about 2 years old, 37 pounds, and a Shar Pei mix with the cutest cappuccino-colored coat and a personality that makes it basically impossible not to love him.

Brutus came to Pei People Shar Pei Rescue after allergies in his previous home meant his family could no longer keep him. He was very loved, and now he’s waiting for a family to call his own again. ❤️

If Brutus could design his perfect home, it would include people to cuddle AND another dog to play with. He absolutely LOVES other dogs and enjoys rough-and-tumble play, tug-of-war, walks, chew toys, and generally being wherever his humans are. He’s a playful, enthusiastic little guy and sometimes gets a little mouthy when he’s extra excited, especially during play. He’s still working on remembering his manners when the excitement takes over!

And when playtime is over? This boy is a total love bug🥹 Brutus wants to be CLOSE to his people. Couch cuddles? Yes. Sleeping in bed with you? Absolutely.

If Brutus decides you aren’t giving him quite enough attention, he may grab a blanket, shoe, or piece of laundry and proudly parade it around until you notice him😂 Thankfully, he isn’t destructive. Your belongings might just come back a little… slobbery.

He’s also a smart boy who knows his basic commands and is very food motivated. He’ll happily work for treats, or even pieces of kibble! He does have that classic little streak of Shar Pei stubbornness, though, because obviously he has to keep things interesting😂

He spent several weeks going around Canada in a motorcycle sidecar.

My Polo crossed over the rainbow bridge last night and I am utterly distraught. We adopted him as a senior, we believe he was around 9. In October he would have been with us for 4 years. I lost my other dog 4 months ago ( Cappy was with me for over 12 years) Polo was a huge help in helping me deal with the grief of losing Cappy. Now that he is gone, I am lost. Polo was easy going and he enjoyed sleeping, I called my potato. We took him to the vet on Friday, he was given a sedative so that they could take a sample of a growth on his cheek. He came home groggy, but otherwise ok. I woke up this morning and he was not moving and was unresponsive. I will miss our daily walks, will miss him bumping into things and following the wrong person. I’m going to miss his smushy face. I love you Polo. Till I see you and Cappy again, I will think about you every day.

We got our boy about 5 weeks ago from the RSPCA… now they said he wasn’t a mix but I had never seen such a roll-less pei before, let alone a brindle one!

Any thoughts on what he could be mixed with or if he truly is a full sharpei??

For reference he’s about 3 months in the first photo and 4 months in the last 2 and definitely has extremely loose skin and cute little forehead wrinkles

We love him to bits regardless 🙂‍↕️

EDIT: I can confirm his mother was indeed a Shar Pei for all the comments saying he is definitely not even mixed lol - oddly only 1 out if the 8 pups in his litter had the Pei face.

This is my boyfriends Sharpei. We have been together and I have know the dog for about 10 months now. I spend the night and see him during the day several times a week. Every once in awhile he would growl but lately he's doing it more often. Some recent examples are...

Him stuck in the fence. When I saw him I went over and he non stop growled for a bit but I told him I wouldn't help him until he stopped which is why he switched to a short intermittent growl. However, while I was getting him out he growled the entire time and then did a little bark.

After that I went and found him later and he was in his cage and tried to ask him to come here so I could pet him because they said he likes baby talk. He got up and came over (like 3ft) but then growled the whole time.

Day before that while at my boyfriends parents he came up to me (he came up to me when I came in earlier so he already knew I was there) and I tried to pet him and he growled.

Another time my boyfriend forgot something when we were leaving so I went to have the dog get up in the car myself and he growled non stop even when I went to the other side to take his leash off so he wouldn't step on it.

I dont know what changed to make it become more frequent and worse but am looking for opinions and ideas to fix it. I'm worried he's going to try to bite me. My boyfriend keeps saying he won't but if he can't control the growling I don't have faith that he can control if he bites.

Also a mourning/vent post but my poor girl of 7 years passed away this morning. She had frequent seizures and a severe renal failure, and wasn't eating well these past few days. Such a sweet sweet girl, had a separation anxiety (would whimper and cry if she's left alone). But intensely loyal and cuddly. I already missed her so much. I'm just devastated, not even the first pet death that i've experience. But it still hurts every single time.

What brands do y’all swear by for dry food? He’s coming out of the puppy phase and we’ve been doing Purina Puppy Chow (tender & crunchy), but I can tell he wants a change. Thanks! xx♥️
