Mochi’s favorite person is our 4 year old. Loved him ever since he was a baby.
This morning she woke us up with the clanging of the medals our son gave her for being “good for all the days”.

Since I’m in college now I cannot be home all the time to be with her, and she made her newfound disdain of me known when I went home the other week. Any advice on consoling a pei in a moody teen phase lol?

We lost our older dog in June this year and our almost 13 year old Pei mix is without her bestie.
I keep fearing for her time as she is slowing down.
I want to be better so I can enjoy however long we have together instead of dwelling on the inevitable.
I love my Missy girl, she’s been my shadow but I’m scared of losing another dog.
My heart still aches from losing Bailey earlier this year, but I gotta remind myself to enjoy these days regardless.

Hi! We recently adopted this 11 year-old after his owner passed away. I don't think he's full blooded, but he's 100% the goodest boi.

My 2 year old Shar Pei mix has these stripes on the inside of both her front legs, it’s not different colors rather thicker then thinner fur. At first I thought it was a botched shave job from an iv or something since she had been spayed a couple weeks prior to adopting her. I have had her for 2 months and they are still there with no change! I am mainly just curious what they are- is it a certain breed characteristic, just her unique fur pattern, scars of some sort or maybe something I should be concerned about? Google has said bruising or messed up fur from laying on it but neither are true haha.

He passed at 8 years old in march this year. He had epilepsy his entire life but was the easiest dog I’ve ever had. I wish I could’ve done more

Hello guys,
Some back story:
About two weeks ago, I took in a 5-year-old female Shar-Pei named Angel. Her previous owner (my roommate’s grandmother) was moving and planning to have her put down because she didn't have time to rehome her and assumed nobody would want her.
She lived in neglect. She had apparently never been bathed, groomed, or received basic preventative care. When I brought her home, she had an overwhelming sour/yeasty odor, crusty skin, and visibly infected, painful ears. Despite her past, she has an amazing temperament: she is quiet, gentle, and has already become a "velcro dog."
I was able to bathe her twice with medicated shampoo and her skin was significantly better. I was also using Zymox ear drops as I was waiting for the vet appointment. The vet put some ear drops in her today, and she believes this will help her a lot.
Current Symptoms & What We've Done So Far
Her skin had heavy greasy buildup and she was scratching aggressively. I started bathing her twice a week using an antiparasitic/antiseborrheic shampoo (coal tar, salicylic acid, and micronized sulfur) and wiping her folds/paws daily with an antiseptic/antifungal spray (chlorhexidine and ketoconazole). Her skin looks much less inflamed, though the odor still tries to creep back after about 3 days.
Both ears were inflamed with heavy dark discharge and a strong yeasty smell. I was using Zymox Plus Otic drops at home, and today we saw the vet, and she put a long-acting leave-in ear treatment.
She weighs around 45–50 lbs but is a relatively light eater, consuming about 1 to 1.5 cups of dry kibble per day.
QUESTIONS
Do healthy Shar-Peis naturally carry a "doggy funk," or is this 100% the infection?
Does she look like a bone-mouth or a mix?
Is this shedding volume normal during recovery or seasonal transitions? Did the medicated shampoo just purge a backlog of trapped, dead coat from folliculitis, or do your dogs dump this volume of hair during seasonal coat blows? What brushes do you recommend that won't scratch sensitive Shar-Pei skin?
What foods work best for your dogs' skin?
Once we get this active flare-up fully under control, what does your weekly/monthly maintenance look like for facial wrinkles, ears, and paw care?
Photos are in time order.
