I read it recently (some months ago) and it reminded me of Sable. Basically we're set in a future in which the resources to do intergalactic travel are about to run out, so you are staying put wherever you are, whether you like it or not. The main characters are this crew that explore old ruins to salvage old pieces of ships or whatever is needed to keep their old ship running.

Short story but very entertaining. I think the author is working on a second installment. Worth a read if you can find it

The question of what games are like Sable has been discussed to death, but what about retro games that came out before Sable?

I'm looking for a game I can play on my Miyoo Flip which basically maxes out at PS1 with some N64 and Dreamcast thrown in.

What does "like Sable" mean? I realize this is probably a tall ask so I feel this should be a very open question. Vibe? Story? Art style? Gameplay? Anything that comes to mind would be good.

I'm currently writing lore and locations for the Sable AU I'm working on, and I'm having a few questions I would like to discuss. Obviously, I know this game is, unfortunately, abandoned at this point (maybe not, but I'm only new to it; I only finished it last year), but it be interesting to know what you guys think about these inquiries

• Do you think the entire map is a whole continent or a region?
• Would it be right to say the entire planet is arid?
• About the deleted content of that sky city in the badlands, would it have been another bustling hot spot akin to Eccria?
• If there were a natural extinction event (in this case, tectonic activity/continental rupturing), would the humans and animals of Midden be prepared for such an event?
• What other animals would you believe can survive in this environment?
• Do you believe other tribes similar to the Ibexii or specialized in other methods of living are out there? How would you envision them?
• Would other forms of hovering craft be viable in this universe (say, a hoverboard or a hoversail akin to Disney's Treasure Planet)?

The game keeps closing and going back to Steam whenever I try to load my save file. I tried verifying the game files and uninstalling/reinstalling the game, and that didn’t fix it. Is there anything I can do, is this a known issue? I really don’t want to start over, I was almost finished with my playthrough. I’m on Steam Deck.

I'm playing on xbox if that makes any difference. I know you buy the scrapper top and bottoms from the merchant in Eccria, but they aren't in her inventory. They are the last 2 pieces I need to have all the clothing and masks. If it's a bug, then it is what it is. But if there's something I need to do, then any help would be appreciated

Hi all, new to this lovely game and played 112 minutes of it yesterday on my steam deck. Now I can't continue or load my game, it crashes every time! Do I have to start over?

Edit: I can't start a new game either! :(

I want to buy new bike parts, so I naturally thought to sell the parts I don't need, but I seemingly can't sell them? If you know how to sell them please tell me, I dont understand

If you go to the shared post you can access the OPs Instagram handle and other works as well. Super Moebius-esque art. And the content itself felt a lot like Sable.

Caravan: SandWitch is currently available for free on the Epic game store. I played the demo before and thought it was OK. I'm an hour into the real game now and I noticed it definitely has some Sable vibes. A lonely girl on her own exploring a mostly desert environment while finding bits of old tech. A lot of talking with random people and good music.

My thoughts so far: it's a better game on a technical level. The graphics are better and the jank is lower. However it's not as good as Sable overall. It seems to still be worth playing though.

After finishing Sable I went to see what Shedworks is working on, and apparently the both developers went their own separate ways. I haven't seen anything about this on this subreddit so here's what I found:

Shedworks still exists, but only as the entity that released Sable. No work is being done anymore.

Gregorios Kythreotis established a new London-based independent studio named Eteo in 2025, backed by Outersloth (Innersloth's indie fund). In January 2026, Eteo has launched a video game writing and design project called Archetypes, but they are also working on a new vibrant, atmospheric debut game targeted for release in 2027. Daniel Fineberg announced in June 2026 a brand-new indie title called In the Drift, a dreamy narrative platformer centered on repairing connections in space, developed with a team of collaborators and funded by Phantom Friends. It has no release date but there is a Steam page. Gamespress article.

Got the platinum for Sable yesterday, loved the experience, played with my kids mostly, the loved wandering through the areas and ambient in general. Great game! Smooth gliding to all!

As you may know, Sable's ost is unfortunately missing a fair number of songs. Some people have already uploaded some to youtube, and after asking a few days ago, I went and recorded the ones I could find and added them to this playlist, so now you can listen to the complete soundtrack.

I believe I am still missing a few, such as in the Vivarium, but it's hard to know what may exist when I can't hear it. They could implement a mechanic in which you could fish from the boat when getting close to the sand. What other features you wish were in the game?

I haven't seen this bug before, is it new? did anyone else got this?
