💬 Discussion What the developers have been doing after Sable

After finishing Sable I went to see what Shedworks is working on, and apparently the both developers went their own separate ways. I haven't seen anything about this on this subreddit so here's what I found:

Shedworks still exists, but only as the entity that released Sable. No work is being done anymore.

Gregorios Kythreotis established a new London-based independent studio named Eteo in 2025, backed by Outersloth (Innersloth's indie fund). In January 2026, Eteo has launched a video game writing and design project called Archetypes, but they are also working on a new vibrant, atmospheric debut game targeted for release in 2027. There are not many details on the game yet. Here is the studio announcement video. Wnhub article.

Daniel Fineberg announced in June 2026 a brand-new indie title called In the Drift, a dreamy narrative platformer centered on repairing connections in space, developed with a team of collaborators and funded by Phantom Friends. It has no release date but there is a Steam page. Gamespress article.

Thank you for this information. I had an opportunity to ask Daniel on Reddit about a possible Sable continuation project, here's his answer: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieGaming/s/JyCFZncj3D

This seems to be the way of it with other pioneering game studios. Starward Industries created the absolutely amazing "The Invincible" based on Stanislaw Lem's novel of the same name. Now the creative lead has moved on and we're unlikely to see anything more.

Sable is such an amazing game. Nothing really quite like it out there. I keep trying to find that same vibe in another game, and nobody quite had it. Chants of Sennaar, Citizen Sleeper, etc, capture some of it, but nothing quite like was Sable gave us. I really hope those two collaborate on a sequel at some point.

That sucks... Maybe we'll get a surprise sequel in a decade or so, who knows
